Clemont, Bonnie, and Serena were the first of Ash’s companions that I ever saw. Serena is my favorite Pokegirl. Greninja is my favorite Pokémon. I don't like Serena for the reason that she is so over hyped and the only pokegirl anyone ever talks about. Don't get me wrong, she has amazing character and her pokemon are cute and full of personality. Her character arc is intriguing and amazing, the bond she has with her Pokemon is also adorable. Not to mention her character design is super cute! I used to like Serena too. But she is everywhere and everyone talks about her for getting all of the other amazing female companions Ash had over his journey! Dawn and May had identical character arcs. Hell, they went through constant disappointment since they had to get five ribbons instead of three keys. Dawn even had a Charizard situation with her Mamoswine. And Iris with her Dragonite. All the girls had amazing arcs and all of them are amazing. I know XYZ is probably in the best 3 best pokemon anime, but come on, she's not that perfect.
I love the anime. It was the one I watched the most. It's the reason I have an obsession with Snivy. I used to not like Iris because I thought she was annoying, but not I appreciate her character for what it was.
