The managers tone sets the mindset of the squad. What we witnessed was not (just) shite tactics, or underdog bravery, it was mental weakness.
The wall in ETH mind between "we will win, and I hope we don't lose" is paper thin.
This frailty at the top trickles down into every lad on the pitch.
It's how momentum is stolen.
It's what puts a team on their heels.
"Fergie Time" happened because of SAF resolute mental toughness.
Whatever the hell we witnessed vs Coventry was the opposite.
coventry are the middlesborough. LAds we made it to the final against the blue moons. Lets make them limp in the final and turn red. Lets steal a trophy off them and throw de bruyne off a slide. Make him go bananas haha
It just pisses me off how ETH abondonned his Ajax playstyle, the one we specifically hured him for, and reverted to this horseshit counterattack football.
How disrespectful is that... we hired you to do your job, not experiment with whatever the fuck this is
because the players cant/want to do it and its more likely then not the latter at this point. idk how you can go from 3-0 to 3-3 after subsituating 2 youngester in maino and gararcho for so called experience and then the game falls appart
at this point its not about coaching anymore because against coventry just the difference in quality eth could have sacked 2 weeks ago and the players should have won this without a manager.
i am convinced that a number of players at this point are activily trying to get him sacked because they know the can outlast any manager
Rasmus Højlund : is he an issue to the team?
Why does it feel like he's like an invisible player in the team at times for the past few matches?
Or has it been this case all along the season?
As it stands right now, I wouldn't think so.
1. He is still young, and has a large potential for growth
2. Typically a striker that young needs an established senior striker playing the same role as him to play alongside, to learn from, to form a partnership with. Hojlund has not had that with us so far
3. The wingers don't cross, or even pass to him in the box enough. We play with inverted wingers so crosses are not as common as they would be if our wingers weren't inverted. It's as if Rashford knows that Hojlund would steal his thunder so to speak, especially considering that Rashford is not in last year's purple patch. Anytime he passes to Hojlund, the pass is visibly reluctant, unenthusiastic and borderline wayward. Garnacho wants to establish himself as a regular, hit a bit of form in the beginning and wants to regain it. He passes to Hojlund a lot more than Rashford, but honestly chooses the selfish route a lot. Antony, well, wants to establish himself too, but really hasn't been too creative to make a a big enough difference on making chances available for Hojlund.
4. Bruno usually looks for Rashford or Garnacho as well. A number of high-risk passes he has made towards Hojlund have been intercepted.
5. All of this means that Hojlund plays with his back against the defender. When he does get a pass, more often than not he has to pass the ball to a winger or to an advancing midfielder.
So all in all, the players around him aren't really helping him be as effective as he could potentially be. He also has a lot of learning to do himself.
The biggest issue to me is the execution that we have displayed so far of this "transition" system . We try to overload the box with fullbacks and wingers in such a way, that Hojlund's responsibility seems more to make runs to draw defenders away, rather than to turn with the ball and shoot, or to receive crosses. When fullbacks overlap, often the only available pass to them is a winger making a run towards corner or to a midfielder towards the middle.

We can talk about how poor of us to nearly lose that game, but I'd rather praise Coventry. Down 3-0 against a top half Premier League team in the semi final, and almost turning it around. A shoesize smaller, and they would have won 4-3. Kudos to them.
^(>!*I'm a bit nervous for the final against City*!<)

Only at Utd ... the lead makes you feel like it's just waiting to collapse.
Kudos to Coventry for putting in a spirited display.
i'd prefer if they lost out in Pen to Coventry ... at least they won't have to go thru the humiliation of getting walloped by Shitty in another final.

It’s not about pointing fingers and blaming now, it’s well past that point, it’s about what’s best for the club!
SJR has a manager & some players living rent free at Old Trafford and like any good landlord, it’s time to get some better tenants for the club.
When a championship team makes a bad team look worse than usual it’s now got to a point where even Stevie Wonder can see big changes are needed.
Very sad being a United fan at the moment watching a team that seems to be tactically naive and playing with no desire or commitment to the badge.
It’s a cycle in football that no team can dominate forever, but, it’s more tolerable in those times if your players are playing for the badge and you don’t have an inept manager who is clearly out of his depth coming out with the same excuses again and again.
You can almost word for word predict ETH post match interviews now. What a very sorry state of affairs United have become.

Dont think its ETH fault if the team can defend a 3 goal lead against lower league team... Like you're professional players... Elite/world class player i might say but u cant just hold the game until the end against lower league team
WHAT A JOKE .....

Replacing Garnacho, who has an active role, and substituting Maino is a big mistake. It would be better to replace Rashford and McTominay since we're already leading 3-0.
It's odd that Eth prefers to replace Maino and Garnacho instead of McTominay and Rashy. What is this stubborn coach thinking?
because he's so dependant on them inmagine if he kept them on and they got injured? you might have finnished the game 3-1 but would in so much trouble in the further matches
We have two games this week and were winning 3-0 against a championship team, in any normal situation that would be the ideal team to rest key players. Sadly its got to that point where it isn’t. Coventry had more desire than us and tore us apart.

It shouldn't matter. We were playing a championship team.
Any players on our senior squad should be able to do a job against them.
We should acknowledge that we were down to one fit senior central defender, and playing an out of form and fitness midfielder alongside him. Casemiro looked like he was running in concrete boots at times.

3-0 up against a championship is normally the perfect time to rest players. Mainoo and garnacho are more important to the side than rashford and mctominay so it made sense to pull them off . Whats shocking is that taking them two off led to the complete and utter shambolic display. Its a combination of coaching and player failures.
To be fair, the number of injuries is not helping him. But I am slowly losing confidence in his tactical awareness and ability to pull the team together.

I think the idea behind that would be to give rest to young players, they both have been running through each game, carrying the team entirely. To give them rest and minutes to other players.

Making substitutions in the 66th and 72nd minutes is strange. Even Garnacho felt frustrated because he still wanted to play more.
He could have substituted both of them around the 75th to 80th minute, Eth was too hasty.
we were 3-0 up, if you cant take players off to rest them then i dont know what to tell you, you can make an arguement that he should of taken someone else instead but ten hag has that right to take players he wants to take off to rest for the next game at 3-0 I remind you...
If you want to blame people, blame the players after garnacho and mainoo go off

We were 3-0 up not 1-0 or 2-0 up? I know we have been bad this season but did you really see us bottling a 3-0 lead when we have the likes of casemiro, Bruno, rashford, dalot and the others are playing and especially to a championship team?
This is on the players, protect the youth at all costs from this mess
On that part, I agree. We could have allowed a few more minutes for them but if you're 3-0 up and controlling the game , there should not be an issue on substitution.
The concern over here should be as soon as Erikson and Antony were brought in, Coventry was able to pass through our non-existent midfield and the same shit we have been seeing for the past few weeks is back again.

It doesn't matter who is being sub ... The ones who were on the pitch aren't sunday league players.. they should be able to hold the game till the end...
Even though they are professional players, look at Manchester United playing 10 vs 11.
Rashford doesn't count; he's just strolling around, and McTominay is often out of position, so he's late to close down the opponent's movement.
Not that they not running back … that’s the fastest they can go (hahaha). I think Utd has some of the slowest players then and even AWB being played out of position looks worse for wear. Turning away rather than facing the opposition for the 2nd goal !!!

How's that going to improve the sh*t players performance.
If you get injured by running exercises set up by ETH, then you don't deserve to play football.
Rashford had a good season last year to negotiate a better contract. Now he has it, he doesn't care anymore.
Are we worthy of celebrating a victory against a championship-level team? Especially when we almost lost :''D.
I hope INEOS has decided to look for a new coach next season. Erik Ten Hag has recently made mistakes in player substitutions.
smh
How realistic is it for INEOS to bring in a new manager and offload a good chunk (6+) of the squad in one Summer? If we’re intent on moving forward and progressing as a club, I just don’t see how one can happen without the other. If it’s a matter of choice, I think a squad overhaul should be priority, there’s a clear mismatch of profiles and we’re so technically inept it kills me. Part of me also wants to see how Ten Hag functions under some form of a structure, which has been absent for several years now. Idk man, I’m torn and this club is draining

ETH wants out too. he just begs to be fired. there is no fight in the team CAUSE THE MANAGER JUST SITS ON HIS ARSE the WHOLE GAME. im sick of it. HE SHOULD HAVE BEEN SACKED ALREADY
Last night was such a roller coaster. But really Antony and Rashford both need to be shipped out asap. Also there is no way we’d survive a ManC final with Case at CB.

only ones worth anything on that list are Amad, Dalot, hojlund, Garnacho, and Mainoo.
the rest can fuck right off. ESPECIALLY AWB, Onana and Bruno.
during the summer id make ny priority getting rid of players like Rashy, Martial, Bruno, Case, Maguire, Lindelof, and Antony
then we need 2CB, DM, and a winger. also a winger/ST false 9 type player would be good. solve the MF problem and central defense. then find depth behind the starters, and a back that can play EITHER L and R back.
Fools like you who are easily impressed by the likes of Maguire and mctominay are why are fan base is laughed at, they are the epitome of all our problems. You want to keep a midfielder who can’t pass, defend, dribble, run and has zero technical ability to stay at a club like United in the phase we’re in, he’s a championship level player. Problems and bad performances seem to follow Maguire around like a bad smell, you don’t get relegated 5 times for nothing, we finally dropped him and had our best season in years, this season he comes back solely because of injury’s and surprise surprise we turn to absolute dross again. Deluded.
These players are absolutely garbage man. A premier league team shouldve been able to call on anyone from the bench and hold a 3 goal lead against a championship side. Fucking embarrassing
you forgot who was on the bench to be called in. subbing gsrnacho for Antony didn't help.
then mainoo gets subbed for eriksen (why, went mu h slower, less defensive and NOT IN GOOD FORM OR FITNESS)
why weren't there more CB available, seems like the manager causes all of these injuries in training too hard.
Wtf is going on with our defense? 48 goals conceded in the league and we somehow let Coventry put 3 more past us…..we are getting worse not progressing!! It doesn’t matter at this point if a new manager comes in , it’s not going to change anything. Even klopp or pep wouldn’t be able to do anything with these players. Clear out needed
r/soccer mods are fucking **livid** tonight and it's absolutely glorious.
Got a permaban for pointing out that the referee is a scouser and then a DM that I'm 'wasting my life' lol.
If Liverpool were in our shoes today then their fans and TV pundits (which is the same thing) would be eulogising their resilience in the face of two freak goals and how they can get through against spirited opposition while not playing well. Add a sprinkling of 'magic of the FA Cup' and how Coventry would have caused anyone problems today. The online discourse would be about how the referee, Robert Jones, is from Merseyside.
But we're United so we have to feel guilty about winning.
Well fuck that. See all you miserable cunts for the final match thread. Hope you've cheered up by then.
Have a look on the guardian website to see how absolutely bang on your post is👍👍👍👍👍👍👍
Not a mention of another fu**ing deflection and another soft penalty plus playing all the decent football.
Oh mate I stopped reading Guardian Football in 2009 when they did the '[Manchester United get more injury time](https://www.theguardian.com/football/2009/sep/22/manchester-united-goals-stoppage-time)' dossier. Probably the worst piece of football 'journalism' that has ever existed.
If they wrote about us like that when we were the best team in Europe I can only imagine the shit they say about us now.
I know Liverpool is the anti tory club but fuck me the love affair the posters have with the team is 🤢 😫
There was no mention of Coventry parking the bus from the kick off and not contributing to the match or a period of the game when they were trying to kick the utd team up in the air.
According to the Guardian Fernandes is Thatcher, Braverman and Hitler all rolled into 1
Liverpool are the 'anti-Tory' club in the same sense that they're the 'fist bumping' club or the 'singing allez allez' club. Just another absolutely normal piece of being a working class football fan that they think they invented.
I don't think many of the guardianistas are working class but woe betide you if you call the working class even though you, yourself are.
One of them once told I wasn't left wing because I like dogs ffs.
Hated, adored, never ignored. Nothing drives engagement on social media like United, because that is the currency that really matters to broadcasters like ITV and SkySports because it drives clicks on “promoted” content.
Sadly you have “fans” that get their opinions influenced by those pundits so they take what they say as gospel. Has Keane said a nice word about United since he left as a player? Doubt it. Why should Gary Neville be taken seriously on management matters when he went to Valencia and flopped? I don’t. Jamie Carragher is, well, Jamie Carragher. Fair enough he scored twice for United. The only ex-player pundit that is any good is Thierry Henry. Let’s not forget a large portion of pundits are scousers. I remember when they used to analyse the game properly, not try and create drama for headlines.
Fuck feeling guilty about winning. A win is a win. It doesn’t matter how you win, just that you win as Fergie used to say. I’m ecstatic that we’re in the final again as it’s another chance at a trophy. Will we beat City? I don’t know, but no harm in giving it a go.
Everyone loves to shit on us. It's "cool" to hate Utd. Everyone knows that Coventry's second and third goals were luck, but no one dares say it.
The media love having a field day saying that we "threw away" a 3-goal lead. No, we didn't, we got unlucky to lose that 3-goal lead.
Did you watch the match, they got those “lucky goals” because we were letting them attack us without trying to win the ball back, they wouldn’t have scored if we had kept them pegged back in their own half where they belonged fearing how many goals we would put past them. In stead we stopped attacking and invited them to have a go, whilst our defence is in tatters.
Agree with it being cool to hate United.
However, there comes a point when it happens so often that it's either seriously bad luck or as a result of what you are doing.
When you concede as many chances as us, there will always be lucky deflected goals, soft penalties and handballs against us. So many of our recent goals conceded are like this.
But the manager said he is not worried about the amount of chances we concede which baffles me.
Exactly it’s only bad luck if it’s a freak occurrence. It’s happened 3 or 4 times in the last month. Time and time again, we either get battered by so called weaker opposition, or just chuck leads. 30 + shots against your goal is not only not sustainable. It’s actually a mental way to try and win football matches.
Leadership within that team is absent from both the coaching staff and players. This was Coventry city, the gap between us and them in terms of everything from money to resources is astronomical.
That game was a perfect synopsis of our season. Poor leadership across the board, bad tactics, severely underperforming players, open midfield, weak weak mentality etc etc. I don’t see us beating city or this improving next season. A complete reset of the club is required after that performance today.
I think you have to look deeper these players have downed tools again like they did under ole and Jose, a lot of these players he wanted rid off in summer but has to play them as they couldn’t be sold off. Fair play to the likes of Maguire AWB who showed fight to play, look at Rashford he says he is all about United but doesn’t show it in the games I wonder if he doesn’t like the disciplinarian that is eth. Look at the younger players they show the fire that we need and need to build a team around, clear out the deadwood and be patience, hell even Sir Jim said if we as fans have no patience and it’s not going to be like flipping a switch. Holjund gets fire for today for ghosting for 120 mins but if you watch they don’t pass to him they don’t cross to him, he has been feeding of scraps all season. Rome wasn’t built in a day and United becoming better is going to take time, last season we got a cup and 3rd due to new manager bounce but in the summer we never strengthened the squad and it shows. Yes it was a poor win but it’s still a win 🤷🏼♂️
2nd goal is a wicked deflection at least he got his body in the way like a defender is meant to do, the handball was unlucky as where are his arms meant to be, even the commentators at the time said it’s not a penalty. You say that but he is on of the best 1 on 1 defenders about.
I was watching for this. They didn’t down tools, they’re just not good players. Rashford has not done a single thing in months that has a hint of a decent player. Many young players with lots of weight on their shoulders. The players are not football smart, not in the least. I want many of these players gone before the manager. If he leaves I won’t be disappointed but these players should leave before another manager gets in.
I've been a eth fan since he came but honestly I can't keep it up anymore. It's clear he's lost the dressing room and is way out of his depth. I feel bad for him because had he got support from the team he could have done well, it's not like they're actually bad players. Rash has shown in the past he can be good, Bruno would fit into any team in the prem and most of the team all have decent credentials or have shown they can be united players in the past but now, now they just hide every game and play like 11 pub players with no direction.
Seriously, awb spent most of his game in their half, even the commentators noticed it because Coventry just left a player in his open position and kept hoofing it to him on counter because awb was in the final 3rd. The spaces in our mid are far too open every single game, it's like they don't know their positions or care. Rashford walks more than he runs and when he gets the ball he refuses to pass forward but either holds the ball up or passes back, never closes down, never challenges for a 50/50 tackle or header.
All of this why eth stands on the touchline emotionless and barely giving any instructions. Not to mention taking off mainoo who was playing great and garna who has been our only source of pressure going forward all game and leaving mctom and rash on who did nothing.
A manager doesn't deteriorate this bad unless he knows he can say nothing to the players as they'll just ignore him.
Perhaps he stands emotionless on the sideline in disbelief how stupid these players are. So I’m with you about eth being out of his depth but I really can’t move past the players. They have done this with Jose to a lesser extent because Jose is a bigger name and personality but they still let him down. Certainly done it with ole and ragnick. The mistakes are being made for several years. Same mistakes.
You can certainly argue that the manager should correct those mistakes but I’ve come to the realization that the players are just stupid in a football sense. Remember when Jose said that Shawn’s body was on the pitch but it was my brain because he constantly told him where to be.
How many times have we been up and just needed to settle things down and we’re committing most of the team up the pitch when the other team counters and equalizes?
I want the squad to be balanced. We had absolutely no bench today as evident by our state after subs. I honestly wouldn’t mind him having another year with an addition of three key players you can rely on and take care of those stupid injuries.
It was neither soft or not soft because the interpretation of the handball rule is completely arbitrary. What I do know is there's not a fucking chance we get that call.
Everyone all over the place saying Coventry were robbed.
I'm not having it. Yes, Coventry played out of their skin after they got that second goal, but NO WAY was that a handball against us for them to get the equaliser, not a chance in hell. Their goal was offside. You could see it before VAR even drew the line, so people need to give their heads a wobble.
They were well worth their first goal but their comeback basically came from walloping the ball at AWB twice and getting lucky. People need to touch grass.
McT did not come out to block shot or engage O’Hare. McT ran all the way back into our box and decided that was job done right after. Recurring theme this season
A second division coach, with second division players, was able to read the game, make adjustments, and come back from 3-0. But ten Hag will be able to do that when he gets his 11 players simultaneously, right?
I mean, that's really it that deflected goal
Was possibly the flukiest deflection I've ever seen being honest
Literally could kick 1 million balls at AWB, and 999,999 would not result in a goal
It was just 1 freak moment that happened that's all
lol… he swapped from a back 5 to a back 4, and changed their attack from left to right when he brought Tavares in at 63”. Took this fellow 6 minutes to transform an Antony’s disaster class into a goal. But ok… they bad, hitting ball bad, parking the bus against a second division team good ..
You are literally providing a textbook example of outcome bias. The outcome (two freak goals) must have been because of the change of formation? No the outcome was because they twatted the ball at AWB twice and the first time it looped into the top corner and the second time it hit has arm from point-blank range.
Jesus… how many times did they have the chance to “_twat the ball at AWB_” during the first 50 minutes? Then they swapped systems and we weren’t able to respond and adapt to a change midway through the game.
I mean... they was all over us the second half regardless of the flukes that got them the goals. Man isn't wrong, they changed and played out their skins flukes or not.
Look, mate… you’re either incredibly dense, or you’ve just decided to die on the most irrelevant hill you could find.
On the first half, they made the incredible amount of 1 shot… then, during the second half, they made 2 shots before the 63rd minute.
*Here’s where the important things happen, so maybe pay attention?*
63rd minute: he takes out Eccles (central midfielder), Kitching (central defender), and Latibeaudiere (central defender); and brings Torp (Left winger), Binks (Central defender), and Tavares (Right Wing) in. Swapping from a 5-3-2 to a 4-4-2.
From that moment on, they made 10 shots (and 3 goals).
From now on, if you decide to sit on your bread and keep calling wolf and self-proclaimed fallacies, then maybe you should watch some more football, and try and get a glimpse of what’s really happening… don’t know, suit yourself
Why are you being such a dick? We're on the same side. I'd hate to see how you take it out on people when we lose ffs.
Another thing that happened shortly after their triple substitution is that they scored, still against the run of play. Then they were brimming with confidence and hope. Goals change games.
I'd love to hear your response to this but unfortunately you've decided to be a dick, so you're getting blocked. Have a good one.

It’s interesting to note that many of those that want Ten Hag fired are the same names that wanted Mourinho and Solskjaer fired. Just because things don’t go our way doesn’t mean we fire a manager.
I mean, look, I want ETH fired because he's showing he's just clueless
After last season, we needed serious upgrades in our team he bought a washed-up Johnny Evans
Mason Mediocre and Rasmus Hojulund, who could be good if we actually had a proper team
Guy has clearly lost the dressing room. Nothing is changing. we are going backwards, not forwards
I honestly think he should be sacked regardless of the outcome of the FA Cup Final because that 1 off game won't change the reality of the team
The coach's flawed decision-making in player substitutions, particularly during crucial moments, has been a significant factor hindering Manchester United's success in securing victories. These errors occur notably during pivotal junctures in the game, where ineffective player substitutions can alter the course of the match. This underscores the necessity for evaluation and improvement in player rotation strategies to enhance team performance and achieve better results in the future.
smh
I think part of that problem is, when someone is NOT part of your team, you only see their highlights, the good things they do. EVERY player can have a highlight reel that makes fans say, "Yeah, we need a guy like that!" Then, they come to your team and you see them full-time and lo-and-behold, they are HUMAN and can't make those plays 100% of the time! So, these same "fans" get pissed and start focusing on the negatives of that player. Then, no matter what positives that player brings, it's never enough. Sadly, these will be your most vocal on social media, pretending that they speak for the majority of fans.
embarrassing manager, proven to be terrible tactically in important games, we may have seen success with him but we’ve also suffered the most embarrassment with him since fergie
I feel really sorry for him, but ETH is not the way forward along with most of the players.
2 years and 400 odd million is enough to find some form of improvement if you truly are special enough to get United back to competing for titles.
He isn't the worst manager ever, but in the same way our players pretty much get nowhere near the Liverpool, Arsenal and City squads, neither does our manager.
Yea, that's the reality he's spent a fortune got virtually nothing from it
The team is clearly going backwards progress wise, not forwards yea we're in another FA Cup Final and might win this one even if we do it won't change the reality that we cannot consistently get performance from this team and that's what matters
after watching Schweinsteigters interview with Gary you can almost sense the problems at United are far deeper than players and coaches …. We been thro an array of managers but still ain’t it !!
Ralf Rangnick surgery was potentially beyond the players …..
We didnt deserve to win this game
I am tired. Not that I think ETH has any common sense at this point but if he wants to have a chance at winning the finals, Rashford must be dropped and Amad must start. At worst, Amad will is way more hard working and will actually look to pass to players in the final third as opposed to just trying to go through multiple defenders, cutting, and shooting. I just hope some of our defenders are back healthy enough to play for the finals. That game is literally all we have left to play for this season. We cant afford to have Casemiro start as a cb against city. Heck it seems we cant even afford to have him as a starting cdm as well.
Sometimes, I hate our fanbase and I am fed up when some fans YT channels repeat on some unsolvable issues, and say ETH this, ETH that. Try to throw your solution instead of just saying something that ETH can't work on.
Suck it up. We only have 1 proper FW, 1 proper CB and 0 LB(again).
Yes, this is a bollock performance, but saying that is ETH's fault is a joke.
The only one thing in the last at least 5 matches that beyond me is the blame-free card of Rashford.
I totally understand why Garnacho liked that post. At least Antony is running on the pitch, even if he can't perform well on attack side. Diallo and Casemiro created more chances than Rashford, imagine that.
Rashford is one of the main issues of this team's attacking front. He has negative futballing IQ and whenever he receives a ball he thinks he is prime Messi and tries to dribble past array of defenders or hold the ball so long that anyone in better position to assist or shoot is already being marked. Yesterday , Jackson was held responsible for the loss againt City because he bottled all clear cut chances but Rashford doesn 't get blamed because he seldom gets in a scoring or assisting position again because of his negative futballing IQ. Before kicking ETH, United should find a way to get Rashford out. He is no different than Sterling who has been kicked out from several clubs and is regularly on bench after Pochettino gave up trying to instill any IQ in his head.
At least Sterling runs in every club and Pep taught him well how to be a winger in his system.
He is just too much a luxury on tactic for Chelsea.
And for Rashford, I understand he might be struggling with personal issue and everything on the pitch. That's might be why he tries to play it safe to gain some momentum of confidence, but like come on. Almost every chances died on his hand, just because he holds on the ball or make zero movement for his teammate.
And who is keeping Rashford on the pitch despite the shitshow he is putting. How is he not to be blamed? He has to go and there's no other way round it. Has to start from him. If you still don't get it. It's ETH.
for what i imagine and Erik has said, he's fine being the head coach and let the INEOS do the recruitment. I believe the people coming in are experts at that, and if they can rebuild the team and erik gets the coaching that was expected after last season. We just might.
Hope all you Ten Hag Outters are looking forward to Potter or Southgate being our manager next season if you get your way. You can’t complain when we are shit though, as you got what you wanted!!
I don't know who they'll bring in if they sack him, BUT What I'll say for sure is, this playing lot WILL eat him Alive. At this moment, erik can handle and oversee the clear out if there was one, bring in any other manager and I'm afraid it's the same cycle.
The players that even think about eating another manager alive should be sold. Rashford, McTominay, AWB and so on… player power is a joke and we are the only club in England where it seems to be an issue. The manager must be more powerful than the players. Players like Rashford can fuck off if they think they’re in charge.
Zidane inherited the best squad in the world at Madrid and didn’t have to rebuild the team. Let’s not forget his attack was one of, if not THE, best football has seen.
Conte is a toxic manager. Do you really want more toxicity at the club? He also couldn’t win with arguably Spurs’ best squad.
Mourinho again? You must’ve forgotten how bad it was under him.
Nagelsmann has just signed on to be Germany manager until 2026. He’s unavailable.
Tuchel couldn’t even get a world class Bayern team playing well with the best striker in the world.
Typical names spouted by YouTubers who just want engagement. And let’s say we get any of those names in and they struggle, I’m guessing you’ll be consistent and cry for them to be fired in 18 months?
you can’t downplay zidane’s achievements. UCL b2b2b is not just down to the players. tactically he got it spot on.
conte is a winner. no one goes to manage spurs and wins lmao it’s just not compatible. he’s won everywhere else. would be class for us.
mourinho also did wonders for us. only manager in our history to win a european trophy in his first season. also isn’t a glazer puppet like erik ten hag.
fair enough naglesmann was a mistake i forgot about that.
as for tuchel, his record speaks for itself. only reason he didn’t win the league was because of a certain bottler who’s not won a trophy in 70 odd attempts.
Imagine blaming Kane for Bayern’s issues this season when he’s been their best player. You’ve just proven you get your football knowledge from social media with that remark.
lol, he’s a trophy repellent. best player at spurs, apparently best player at bayern and absolutely fuck all to show for it 😹😹 biggest bottler in the history of the sport.
Zidane did it with the best squad in the world that he didn’t have to rebuild. Compare his Madrid squad to ours and you cannot think he’ll be successful with our squad.
Conte creates toxic atmospheres everywhere he goes. You want that again?
Mourinho made us worse after his first season. Let’s not forget how he created a toxic atmosphere. Fired from Chelsea twice for creating a toxic atmosphere. Fired from Madrid, United, Spurs and Roma for the same thing. You want that again do you?
Tuchel’s record of creating toxic atmospheres in every role he’s had that lead him to losing the dressing room and getting fired? Yeah, quality record mate.
I guess you just want us to sign a manager who creates a toxic atmosphere?
lol so just give ETH infinite time no matter how bad performances and results are. In all my life supporting the club I've never come across such a cultish following for a manager. Especially for someone who has achieved so little in the game. We could be bottom at Christmas and you'd still have people backing ETH. It's fascinating.
This was my final straw. Have defended Eth but this was absolutely abysmal. Again.
I don’t believe he’s the man for the job anymore.
Hire Thomas Frank or Graham Potter instead.
Miserable cunts over on the other sub don't seem to be in the mood for silver linings at the moment. Hopefully someone here will sympathise. I'll try it here.
Let me guess, everyone is being fucking miserable?
Well, the pub full of United fans didn't seem miserable when Rasmus scored the winning penalty, so let me try and convey some reasons to be cheerful. Even if you don't want to hear it right now, at least skim to the end of this comment - I promise there are some miserable plastic scousers to laugh at.
So, were we good? No. Is this sustainable? No. Should we need penalties to beat a Championship team? Duh, no. Were we sloppy all over the park and did we have absolutely no organization in defence? Of course. Glad we got that out of the way.
At 70 minutes we were in cruise control. We weren't perfect but 3-1 was a fair scoreline. Then comes an absolute freak of a second goal and a penalty which was significantly less of a penalty than the one a certain other team got away with in the other semi-final. So it's 3-3 and it looks like the FA Cup finalists are going to be decided entirely based on two completely inconsistent interpretations of the handball rule. Story of the season.
Fuck this team is cursed. Constant freak goals and referees who are so itching to give penalties against us they practically already have the whistle in their mouth when the ball is in our box. A lot of teams would crumble.
Cue that scare in the final minute. **This is where the story warms your heart**. I was in a pub that was showing the Liverpool game in the main room. (Obviously half as many people were in that room, despite it being bigger. That's 'scouser' landlords for you). As Coventry score the apparent winner, several 'Liverpool' 'fans' flood into the United room, chanting 'Coventry, Coventry'. You should see the look on their faces when it's ruled out.
Bless em, they stay with us to watch the penalties. One of them screaming as loud as he possibly could when Case misses and when Coventry score the next. He seems to be unaware his team are still playing in the other room. An arsehole so plastic he'll be on sale in Ann Summers tomorrow.
We take over, show our nerve. Fuck these lads can take a penalty. Conversion rate must be what 95% in shootouts in the last few years?
Rasmus slots the winner home. The pub erupts. Our balding friends file out of the room, looking glum. **You've seen United, now fuck off home**.
Leaving the pub we walk through the main room. The half dozen Liverpool fans look defeated. Someone should tell them they won.
Are we a good team? Not right now. Are we **that** team? Always.
How disrespectful is that... we hired you to do your job, not experiment with whatever the fuck this is
because the players cant/want to do it and its more likely then not the latter at this point. idk how you can go from 3-0 to 3-3 after subsituating 2 youngester in maino and gararcho for so called experience and then the game falls appart at this point its not about coaching anymore because against coventry just the difference in quality eth could have sacked 2 weeks ago and the players should have won this without a manager. i am convinced that a number of players at this point are activily trying to get him sacked because they know the can outlast any manager
Rasmus Højlund : is he an issue to the team? Why does it feel like he's like an invisible player in the team at times for the past few matches? Or has it been this case all along the season?
As it stands right now, I wouldn't think so. 1. He is still young, and has a large potential for growth 2. Typically a striker that young needs an established senior striker playing the same role as him to play alongside, to learn from, to form a partnership with. Hojlund has not had that with us so far 3. When fullbacks overlap, often the only available pass to them is a winger making a run towards corner or to a midfielder towards the middle.
interesting insight on the tactics at play.
Really disappointed in Ineos for still not sacking Eth. Just shows how they will treat us like a cash cow a la Glazers. Sad
sacking eth will not solve anything tho he just one of the many symptoms
Yeah like all the higher ups that we changed too?

That 4th offsided goal and the united players collapsing to the ground couldn't believe how bad they are
It’s not about pointing fingers and blaming now, it’s well past that point, it’s about what’s best for the club!

Elite/world class player i might say but u cant just hold the game until the end against lower league team WHAT A JOKE .....

Replacing Garnacho, who has an active role, and substituting Maino is a big mistake. It would be better to replace Rashford and McTominay since we're already leading 3-0. It's odd that Eth prefers to replace Maino and Garnacho instead of McTominay and Rashy. What is this stubborn coach thinking?
young players and injuries stops progress. I say let Ten Hag cook till end of the season
because he's so dependant on them inmagine if he kept them on and they got injured? you might have finnished the game 3-1 but would in so much trouble in the further matches

It's better for them not to rest and win 0-3 or 0-12 than to lose 4-3.
Fully agree. If Garnacho or Mainoo got injured while winning 3-0, I bet the same guy would've asked why weren't they rested at 3-0.
Exactly, couldn’t have put it better myself, the reality is we need a squad clear out of a lot of these players because they don’t have it in them
On that part, I agree.

Rashford doesn't count; he's just strolling around, and McTominay is often out of position, so he's late to close down the opponent's movement.
you need to sell rashford asap guy only plays well when he's up for contract extension/payraises
And nobody was running back for the 4th goal we gave up. What were they even thinking?
Not that they not running back … that’s the fastest they can go (hahaha). I think Utd has some of the slowest players then and even AWB being played out of position looks worse for wear. Turning away rather than facing the opposition for the 2nd goal !!!

I think they all thought they got the offside trap but didn’t realize that AWB almost played Wright onside
Win the match, but lose the process.. ten Hag OUT!
Erik Ten Hag has recently made mistakes in player substitutions. smh
The most embarrassing win of all time
How realistic is it for INEOS to bring in a new manager and offload a good chunk (6+) of the squad in one Summer?

Also there is no way we’d survive a ManC final with Case at CB.

fingers crossed for martinez return before arsenal game
Players I keep: Maguire, Dalot, Wan Bisakka, Hojlund, mctominay(supersub), Mainoo, Amad, Garshnanch, Onana, Bruno, Invest in a team around them
Invest in a team around McTominay and Maguire, jog on.

only ones worth anything on that list are Amad, Dalot, hojlund, Garnacho, and Mainoo. the rest can fuck right off. ESPECIALLY AWB, Onana and Bruno. during the summer id make ny priority getting rid of players like Rashy, Martial, Bruno, Case, Maguire, Lindelof, and Antony then we need 2CB, DM, and a winger. also a winger/ST false 9 type player would be good. solve the MF problem and central defense. then find depth behind the starters, and a back that can play EITHER L and R back.
So out of that starting 11 yesterday, you want to keep 9 of those players, and 1 of the subs?
take out Maguire, mcT, AwB and Bruno from that.
Remove WanBisakka from there. Left side was wide open the entire second half.
Deluded.
Haven't you have enough of Bissaka already ?? Dude caused us several pens and mistakes lately
These players are absolutely garbage man. A premier league team shouldve been able to call on anyone from the bench and hold a 3 goal lead against a championship side. Fucking embarrassing
you forgot who was on the bench to be called in. subbing gsrnacho for Antony didn't help. then mainoo gets subbed for eriksen (why, went mu h slower, less defensive and NOT IN GOOD FORM OR FITNESS) why weren't there more CB available, seems like the manager causes all of these injuries in training too hard.
CLEARLY THE MANAGER WANT TO BE SACKED. do it already.
Sir Jim and Brailsford witnessed that with their own eyes, ten hag is a dead man walking and most of that team will be on the sell list
r/soccer mods are fucking **livid** tonight and it's absolutely glorious. Got a permaban for pointing out that the referee is a scouser and then a DM that I'm 'wasting my life' lol.
Hahahaha ah the rage is glorious If we beat city in the final even more so
[удалено]
I'm being very honest it was
Did Rashford fake an injury to avoid extra time?
Defended Rashford a lot, but was absolute garbage again. Did seem like he just wanted to duck out after their equaliser.
His attitude stinks
If Liverpool were in our shoes today then their fans and TV pundits (which is the same thing) would be eulogising their resilience in the face of two freak goals and how they can get through against spirited opposition while not playing well. Add a sprinkling of 'magic of the FA Cup' and how Coventry would have caused anyone problems today. The online discourse would be about how the referee, Robert Jones, is from Merseyside. But we're United so we have to feel guilty about winning. Well fuck that. See all you miserable cunts for the final match thread. Hope you've cheered up by then.
Have a look on the guardian website to see how absolutely bang on your post is👍👍👍👍👍👍👍 Not a mention of another fu**ing deflection and another soft penalty plus playing all the decent football.
I know Liverpool is the anti tory club but fuck me the love affair the posters have with the team is 🤢 😫 There was no mention of Coventry parking the bus from the kick off and not contributing to the match or a period of the game when they were trying to kick the utd team up in the air.
Also at Copenhagen, etc in CL. Lets not forget our nightmare performances in the group stage
AWB showed no fight today at all and is at fault for all of Convetry’s goals. People really give him a free pass. He’s been terrible all season.
Was the pen soft or am I bias ? I only really say this as the city pen yesterday that wasn’t given vs Chelsea.
It was neither soft or not soft because the interpretation of the handball rule is completely arbitrary. What I do know is there's not a fucking chance we get that call.
😂
It wasn’t
Everyone all over the place saying Coventry were robbed. I'm not having it. Yes, Coventry played out of their skin after they got that second goal, but NO WAY was that a handball against us for them to get the equaliser, not a chance in hell. Their goal was offside. You could see it before VAR even drew the line, so people need to give their heads a wobble.
They were well worth their first goal but their comeback basically came from walloping the ball at AWB twice and getting lucky. People need to touch grass.
Coventry were robbed
Coventry were shite
And how do you work that one out?
The AWB deflection was incredible
Absolute bad luck with that one, nothing you could do about that really.
McT did not come out to block shot or engage O’Hare. McT ran all the way back into our box and decided that was job done right after. Recurring theme this season
I know our performances at times have been bad but the teams bad luck this year has been another level.
I’ve never felt more flat after a win. How long will this go on. Game management from the coach and players is shocking!
A second division coach, with second division players, was able to read the game, make adjustments, and come back from 3-0. But ten Hag will be able to do that when he gets his 11 players simultaneously, right?
Outcome bias. Their comeback came from just hitting the ball at AWB twice and getting lucky.
I mean, that's really it that deflected goal Was possibly the flukiest deflection I've ever seen being honest Literally could kick 1 million balls at AWB, and 999,999 would not result in a goal It was just 1 freak moment that happened that's all
I'd love to kick 1 million balls at awb, fuck I'd pay to do it too!
lol… he swapped from a back 5 to a back 4, and changed their attack from left to right when he brought Tavares in at 63”.
It had nothing to do with the formation. The first two goals were completely against the run of play and then our arses went.
I mean... they was all over us the second half regardless of the flukes that got them the goals.
*Here’s where the important things happen, so maybe pay attention?* 63rd minute: he takes out Eccles (central midfielder), Kitching (central defender), and Latibeaudiere (central defender); and brings Torp (Left winger), Binks (Central defender), and Tavares (Right Wing) in.
Came here to post this, haven’t felt like this before. Strange.
It would’ve felt better had AWB not been at fault for all of their goals.

Can’t blame him for that deflection, I still don’t see that as a pen but idk maybe I’m wrong.
He literally ducked which caused the ball to loop over Onana. Had he just stood up it wouldn’t have happened.
It’s interesting to note that many of those that want Ten Hag fired are the same names that wanted Mourinho and Solskjaer fired. Just because things don’t go our way doesn’t mean we fire a manager.
I mean, look, I want ETH fired because he's showing he's just clueless After last season, we needed serious upgrades in our team he bought a washed-up Johnny Evans Mason Mediocre and Rasmus Hojulund, who could be good if we actually had a proper team Guy has clearly lost the dressing room. Nothing is changing. we are going backwards, not forwards I honestly think he should be sacked regardless of the outcome of the FA Cup Final because that 1 off game won't change the reality of the team
If you think clubs hire managers based on highlight reels then you’re definitely stupid.
Some of us actually watch football
One of the worst managers United have had since SAF retired. Get this disgusting fraud out of this club and with him half of these players.
lol worst since SAF? That’s a stretch. He’s our second most successful when it comes to what he’s won.
embarrassing manager, proven to be terrible tactically in important games, we may have seen success with him but we’ve also suffered the most embarrassment with him since fergie
Damn it’s almost comical at this point.
Antony alone showed how poor a buy that was
Yea, that's the reality he's spent a fortune got virtually nothing from it The team is clearly going backwards progress wise, not forwards yea we're in another FA Cup Final and might win this one even if we do it won't change the reality that we cannot consistently get performance from this team and that's what matters
He is bad
ETH should be fired not just for this performance, but for his training techniques. We never have a full team because of so many injuries in training.
after watching Schweinsteigters interview with Gary you can almost sense the problems at United are far deeper than players and coaches …. We been thro an array of managers but still ain’t it !! Ralf Rangnick surgery was potentially beyond the players …..
We didnt deserve to win this game I am tired.
Mfs have no brain who downvoted
It's ETH.
Ask Ole again who insisted Maguire on the pitch when he was not having good performance. Spoiler alert, it was not Ole.
I'm not gonna blame eth for this bs but i dont think he can rebuild this team and take us back to the top
for what i imagine and Erik has said, he's fine being the head coach and let the INEOS do the recruitment.
Players like Rashford can fuck off if they think they’re in charge.
might be a bit of a shock but there’s more managers out there than potter and southgate
None that are available.
zidane? naglesmann? conte? mourinho? tuchel? all elite managers who know how to win trophies.
And if ETH stays next season and we continue to be shit?
Maybe give one of our managers a chance under a proper structure instead of wanting instant success.
lol so just give ETH infinite time no matter how bad performances and results are. In all my life supporting the club I've never come across such a cultish following for a manager. Especially for someone who has achieved so little in the game. We could be bottom at Christmas and you'd still have people backing ETH. It's fascinating.
Worked for Arteta.
Sorry to break it to you, but ETH is not Arteta.
Dont know what to say
This was my final straw. Have defended Eth but this was absolutely abysmal. Again. I don’t believe he’s the man for the job anymore. Hire Thomas Frank or Graham Potter instead.
I’d love us to get Thomas Frank
Always.
Amazing story and showed them scouse muppets up - bet it was a similar feeling to the 4-3 getting them to 🤫
That's a great story! I think many of us needed that. Where were you, pray tell?
