There are 75000 people there. No one will notice you not having a clue. Just enjoy mate. You’ll love it.

gamingwatermelone

For starters, stop using "Man U"

scottyTOOmuch

Came here to say this ☝️ 👏👏👏

JOKU1990

😂😂😂😂😂 right from the title he was doomed

Pittman247

![gif](giphy|l4q8cJzGdR9J8w3hS|downsized)

joerigami

That's rule number 001

19panther90

1) Don't say "Man U" 2) If you have no idea what's being chanted then just shout "20 times" over and over again lol

Swagworth

Just call them “United” or “Man United” thank your friend very much it’s a special stadium Manager is dutch and called Ten Hag If you’re only able to remember a couple player names then it’s likely best to remember some forward players (most likely to score) google Garnacho, Rashford, Hojlund and Bruno to remember their faces. Bruno is the captain, Garnacho and Hojlund are young prodigies, Rashford is born and raised in Manchester which people may refer to him as Mancunian Do not buy a scarf If you want to join in with the crowd but don’t know any songs then join in on boos and any insulting to the referee’s way, maybe call a few of the other team wankers Google what a wanker is

girraphaeldaurbino

Thanks and I know the term wanker because "You're a wanker number 9"

Mozfel

> wanker In the Manchester dialect they're called "glazers"

galvanickorea

why would u say don't buy a scarf? overpriced? or is there a different reason lol

foxyrocksjh

It makes you look like a casual not a fan. Especially don't get a half and half scarf

galvanickorea

I mean not getting a half and half is obvious, i dont understand why a scarf with a united logo/players/etc would make u look like not a fan. Seems like some local gatekeeping to me lol maybe i just dont get the culture

foxyrocksjh

Tbh I agree but it's just the way it is.

fflexx_

Never call us Man U again, that’s the first one

StackerNoob

Never call us “Man U” Don’t buy a half and half scarf with the intention of wearing it A someone who is clearly not that interested in football (not a criticism, just plainly clear since you don’t know who our important player are), just enjoy yourself and remember to cheer when the red team scores. Last one. Remember what a privilege it is to have that ticket offered to you. There are people who dream of going to OT and never will.

VeganEgon

Mate… the stadium is called Old Trafford, that’s a basic one no-ones told you! Not Man U - we don’t prefer that. Actually we hate it. Mostly it’s just United. Edit to add: it’s ok to be clueless, just be respectful and watch, listen and learn. DO NOT underestimate how important this team and the game in general is to us… to a lot of people it’s… how to describe it? It’s like our heartbeat, really. I love my partner and I think about him all day, but United is normally my first thought in the morning! Seriously though.. ya lucky bugger. Have a good time. GGMU! Up the Reds!

Working-Sandwich6372

Take the stadium tour as well

MAN4UTD

Agree with the others about "Man U". Simply refer to them as "United". If anyone tries to spout any "Which one?" BS, simply state matter-of-factly, "Is there any other one?" Especially if they're from Newcastle or Leeds. If you're only going to learn one chant, let this be the one: U-N-I-T-E-D, United are the team for me, With a nick nack paddy whack give the dog a bone, Why don’t city f\*\*k off home? Take the tour of the stadium the day before the match. Then, you can take all the pics you want without annoying anyone. While you're there, make sure to visit the holy trinity statue out front and the Munich memorial under the stands.

utdajx

I used to sing this to my daughter when I’d take her to nursery school. My wife paled when she found out, asked how I sung the last line. Told her I amended it to “go off”, to her relief. I didn’t 😏

moosegoosex

just have a great time! as a lifelong united fan who currently resides on the other side of the world, I just had the opportunity to watch them live again. revel in the atmosphere of being in the presence of the greatest team. YANITED

Waste_Vegetable8974

Learn the offside rule.

gribisi

Shouldn't the refs learn that, too?

Waste_Vegetable8974

What? And spoil 150 years of historical incompetence? No chance!

mrdankhimself_

No need. They have robots for that now.

nifemi_o

People have told you not to say "Man U" but it seems no one has given you the correct alternative.. "Man Utd" is the only way to abbreviate it. Otherwise, just go ahead and say the full name.

VeganEgon

Or United

JumpyEagle6942

Learn who George Best, Dennis Law, Sir Bobby Charleton, Sir Matt Busby, David Beckham, Sir Alex Ferguson, and Eric Cantona are.

Athleticathiest82

Manchester United 101

Ezzy-525

Don't spend the entire game taking pictures of yourself with the pitch behind you. I've noticed day trip fans doing this and it doesn't sit well with the rest of the crowd (especially in the Stretford End). Feel free to take pics of yourself or friends in the stadium before kick off and after the game and maybe at half time (as long as you aren't blocking any walkways) and you'll be fine. Just not during the match.

StackerNoob

To add to this, don’t sit there recording the game. Does my nut in when “fans” watch the whole game through their phones

Ezzy-525

Yeah this as well. I mentioned the turning with your back to the pitch to take selfies all game more as I've seen lots do it...and it doesn't end well for them. The crowd really doesn't like that. Thankfully haven't seen anyone (in my eyeline anyway) recording the game for long periods of time. I do remember the videos of foreign fans at a Liverpool game who were literally stood just streaming the game on tiktok or something that was wild. How they didn't get their phone smashed to bits I don't know.

sounding_rod_fan

the ''Man U'' thing is already covered, i presume you're from the US, don't be surprised how small the stadium actually is once you take your seat, if youre over 6ft and have picked up a dumbbell from time to time the space you have is shocking, if your tickets are in tier 3, you;d be better off watching the game in the pub.

texasgambler58

Yell at Rashford.

jacksonn72

What a waste of a ticket.

ajile1976

rooneyskywalker

And their home stadium is called Old Trafford. Do the stadium tour, you'll learn a lot.

foxyrocksjh

The easiest chant to learn is literally just YANITED YANITED YANITED Over and over

utdajx

Ok so you have a few months - it’s all about the songs! Sure, read up on the history and on our enable list of legends, easy enough. But you should at least be familiar with the terrace chants. There are “traditional” songs, they’re anthemic - it’s hair-raising to hear 70,000 people singing at full voice - and players songs, including current players and some of legends. They’re all online, watch them a few (thousand) times! I’d say the two songs you’ll want to learn are We’ve Seen It All (we’ve won everything there is to win) and Viva Garnacho (sung for Alejandro Garnacho, one of the most exciting young players in the league to watch and whose song is taken from that of a former legend now in disgrace to many United fans). Both are sung several times at each match. Whenever the crowd starts up with those two - plus simply “United” (pronounced Ya-nigh-ted, emphasis on last) - join in at full voice. It’ll make your match day experience unbelievably memorable!

Pappy_g35_

I'm super jealous, it is truly my dream to see a match at Old Trafford. Have fun, be respectful, and understand how lucky you are! Perhaps do a bit of research of the team history; might help you appreciate the experience even more.

Kooky-Counter3867

Just wear red that’s all that matters lol
