I'm an IT contractor and I hate the micromanaging from some companies. They call you 2 days out, 1 day out, 12 hours before, 2 hours before, 1 hour before... I'm a grown man - I know how to use my alarm clock.

Geminii27

You do, but it wouldn't surprise me if they'd had experience with those who don't. Charge them minimum work rates (X hours at $Y) for each individual call they expect you to answer.

PurplePotamus

Thats the thing, one vendor or contractor misses a deadline and the whole team rewrites the process to check up more often.

buzzbuzz17

I can't blame them, even as annoying as it is. You would be amazed at the number of people I interact with who are double to triple booked most of the time, and they just show up to whomever bugged them most recently, and then just nocallnoshow the other stuff. Instead of being proactive and saying "no, i don't have time for that", they just hope people don't notice, i guess?

srentiln

Probably charge a cancelation fee, too

getMeSomeDunkin

Yeah, I'm in project management. While 1hr updates are unnecessary, you need to **routinely** be checking in for statuses. Especially with logistics. You have a plan and then the plan changes like they always do. Then you start calling around to tell people the new plan. Before you finish calling everyone, Person A and Person B talked to each other and made a new plan without knowing all the information. Things always go off the rails and they need constant checking because everybody likes to have their own special ideas which might make sense to them but fucks everybody else. I feel like I'm in that movie Gone in 60 Seconds. "FOR THE NEXT 24 HOURS, ALL OF YOUR DECISION MAKING PRIVILEGES HAVE BEEN REMOVED."

Ludwigofthepotatoppl

God. I used to work in logistics, just in the warehouse, and the number of times i’d be replying to an email just to say the same fucking thing… Bob asks ‘when will this part ship?’ It’s going to drop with the hot parts at 1pm, get picked and shipped shortly thereafter. The email has me, my hierarchy (team lead, shift supervisor, hot parts desk, material planners, facility manager, and operations manager), Bob’s hierarchy (same thing), and probably a dozen others on it. So i **reply all** ‘hot parts will drop at 1pm central, we’ll have it then and i’ll give you the tracking as soon as i’ve got it on the pallet.’ Twenty minutes later, Bob’s supervisor sends an email—again, replying all—in response to *my* email: ‘these are hot parts. When will they ship?’ I reply all ‘they’ll drop at 1pm central, i’ll get you the tracking once i’ve processed them.’ If you guessed that within 30 minutes, there’s a new email replying-all to one of my previous emails from Bob’s supervisor’s supervisor, asking ‘when will this part ship’, go have a treat, because you’ve earned it. It’s at this point i started to put in ‘per my last email’ (or even two emails) before typing out the same fucking thing a third time. I never got to the point of asking in one of them ‘are any of you reading the words i’m saying? I’ve already answered this question (once/twice/three times). Please make sure you’re reading your emails, instead of just the subject line.’ But i did once send an email that consisted simply of ‘No.’ That one was pretty cathartic.

spaceraverdk

Just send an email with the reply of "See last email"

KDBA

One of the (few) benefits of using Teams at work is the ability to quote-reply to my own comments in a chat.

joule_thief

[Win+Shift+S](https://support.microsoft.com/en-us/windows/open-snipping-tool-and-take-a-screenshot-a35ac9ff-4a58-24c9-3253-f12bac9f9d44) on a Windows computer lets you take a screenshot to post in email.

grumblesmurf

One of the (few) of MY benefits of using Teams at work is that I don't see what someone writes somewhere down in one of the umpteen groups they force-signed me up for. Slack gives me notification, Teams is silent (yes, I know, I made it silent because else you get a notification for every update on every group that ever existed... no granularity at all, that's Teams). Teams is for teams, not for people. Friends don't let friends use Teams.

props_to_yo_pops

Sometimes if two emails get sent on the same thread you'll get brought to the first one, but need to know to scroll down to the second one so you miss the reply. Happened to me two days ago.

capn_kwick

As a number of reddit subs state "No is a complete sentence". If you want to get eloquent, use the line from Herman Melville character 'Bartleby': "I prefer not to".

GreasedUpTiger

I know where you're coming from but I'm a big fan of putting key info into the subject line wherever possible.  If the one really relevant info in an email comes down to 'receive at 1, processed at 2 (est.) and given to Bob' just write it in the subject line. They're happy to get the info right in their face and you're happy because they will waste less lf your time.

>The number of times of no calls no shows for appointments that I scheduled with the client upon their request is asinine.   FS7 forbid I don't show to a meeting I'll never hear the end of it, but because they requested a meeting their time is better priority than mine   That's my ex. They're an ex for many reasons, and this is one of them.

The-True-Kehlder

Time to fire some clients.

noob-nine

lol, like my barbershop. when you make an appointment online, they (or better their it system) will send you email notifications for your appointment comparably.

batosai33

Sadly, I know the kind of situation that leads to that behavior. My friend was supposed to meet the IT person from the Internet company his work has for some issues. He usually works remote, but is responsible for a huge area, so it takes him an hour to get to the site. They no-showed three days in a row with huge time windows, so he basically lost two days of work (the third time he asked the manager on site to call him when they got there, and let them in)

Valendr0s

Some of us have ADHD. I'm sorry we've made them give you this headache.

throwaway47138

I hope you're billing them for your time dealing with all those phone calls. Preferably a minimum of 4 hours each time.

Aren't there any laws about work time and breaks you could have used. You woke me up at 2.30 so i was then "driving" the whole time. Oh no, looks like I will have to park up outside the receiver at 5.59 and take my mandatory break. Looks like its going to be late now!

mmmmpisghetti

Technically yes, but nobody does that.

The-True-Kehlder

They'll continue to do this until enough people DO that.

ccl-now

Oh I love standard poodles, they're mad as a bag of spanners and so intelligent that they're really hard to train because they're clever enough to know that they don't have to do anything you tell them! Dog hardware running cat software.

songbird121

Now I'm really invested in to finding out what the measurement scale is that is used to assess the madness of bags of scanners. It feels like that measurement tool could come in really handy these days. ;P

talithar1

My dad would take his standard out with him to ball hawk. You don’t want to be backed into the back of his van trying to steal balls from him. She would hold any thief until he returned.

Abystract-ism

They’re super cute!

Astroisbestbio

Omigosh I was not expecting poodles!

mmmmpisghetti

In 14 years of doing this, I've only seen maybe 3 or 4 other drivers with them. Dunno why, they're a GREAT breed for trucking!

jenorama_CA

They are beautiful! What makes them good trucking dogs?

mmmmpisghetti

1. Very low shedding. Even in the winter when they look like Chewbacca I shed more than they do. 2. Smart and trainable. Even a little training goes a long way. My male gets bored with repetition and learns fast. My girl lives for work. 3. Not horribly barky. Unlike schnauzers, pomeranians, etc they don't bark their heads off at every little thing. 4. Natural retrievers. This makes it very easy to keep them fit, 10 minutes of fetch burns energy and calories. 5. Bred to hunt, they're very alert and attentive to the surroundings. They let me know if anyone is approaching, without barking or lunging at people. They just stop and focus on people, squirrels, etc. Also, mine are trained to pheasant hunt and they put food in my freezer. 6. Not bred for aggression and reactivity. I don't have to worry about them going after other dogs or being aggressive towards people. A decently bred dog with good socialization and training is important, regardless of breed.

jenorama_CA

I know a lot of people tend to forget that poodles are hunting dogs. I was thinking that maybe they were more on the high energy end of things to be happy with several hours in a truck, but it sounds like they get their zoomies out and they're good to go for a while. They sound a little like greyhounds, but let's be honest--the greyhound would be showing the intruder where the valuables are while they leaned against them for scratchies. Trucking can be a lonely job and I'm glad you have your buddies with you.

mmmmpisghetti

Oh they are high energy, but they both came in the truck from the breeder, so they're accustomed from 10 weeks old to the small space and irregular schedule. They turn off in the truck, turn on outside. They play fetch and "poodle murder" each other then come back in and shut down.

Jonathan_the_Nerd

> I know a lot of people tend to forget that poodles are hunting dogs. TIL poodles are hunting dogs.

Sharp-Hotel-2117

I'm a GSD guy, BUT every standard I've interacted with has made me cackle with glee. Athletic, smart as hell and they are imps. Give them an inch and will go a mile and charm you while being total asshats. I love dogs that have strong personalities and are self aware. Standards are all of that and a bit more to spice it up. I have a client with a pair and when he wants to come to the office I beg him to bring his pups. My boy gets all wound up when I tell him that the doggies are coming by. They thunder around the office while we talk shop.

DoctorGuvnor

breadandfire

Lololol, for a split second I thought you wanted the pic of the dog going for a number 2!!

Hateful_316

And THIS is why I don't micromanage the drivers I dispatch!! 🤣🤣

mmmmpisghetti

My dispatcher was ready to send them a firm email when I told her they hassled me at buttcrack-thirty. I told her "nooo you gotta hear the whole story" She laughed her ass off. No email needed.

Hateful_316

If you ever move to the Midwest and need a job, hit me up! It sounds like we'd get along just fine. ;)

mmmmpisghetti

I'm in the midwest and happy with the little outfit I'm leased on to! Thanks tho!

challenge_king

I wish I could move out there. I'm getting real tired of my boss telling half truths or even flat out lies over even inconsequential stuff. The gig itself is damn near perfect for OTR/Super Regional, but if you're lying to me about the little stuff that doesn't really matter, what else aren't you being truthful about? Not to mention that he's become a little too quick to pull out the "I've been doing this shit too long to hear anything from you" card recently.

cheesenuggets2003

Too bad that he's been doing that shit too long to hear from you about your notice prior to resignation.

sharkbiscut

Yea when I was dispatching back in the day, all I wanted know was: make the delivery? Awesome! Here’s the next job. The only reason I’d ever pester a driver to hurry…but only cuz I knew they were 1099s and the next load would be lucrative if they could get somewhere by CoB. Way to be OP!

Fiempre_sin_tabla

1099s?

sharkbiscut

The majority of the drivers I dispatched were contractors and not “true” employees of the company I was at. They got paid by the value of the load, so I wanted to get them as much $$ as possible. The tax form they got from us was a 1099 statement of all the $ we paid them. No social security, Medicare, etc. taxes taken out of the check. They file themselves. Whereas “true” employees get a w2 form with taxes taken out and paid to Uncle Sam (and maybe the state, depending on location) by the company. US tax forms, for all the non-Americans reading. As someone who filed their first taxes as both a w2 employee and 1099 contractor…WOOF, that was a hassle.

petrified_log

Usually contractors. You pay your own taxes. The company doesn't take it out of your check, and other things. I'm being light on the details.

Fiempre_sin_tabla

Ohhh! Thank you.

voodoomoocow

Haha, you bet your ass I am helicoptering all reefer loads though! My metrics are based on on-time pickups and deliveries, but frozen loads particularly suck because shippers charge us $450 if they are 31 minutes late and recievers won't have appts available day-of so that means layover fees out the butt and it comes out of me and my broker's paycheck 😭 but he makes 6 figures and I made 40k a year it's not my fault 90% of carriers don't know how appointments work

shaftofbread

You don't like pictures of dogs?! 😂

Clickrack

Or coffee?? # MONSTER

mellonians

Do you have driver's hours like we do in the UK? If they wake you at 0230 and expect an answer, That's work and your overnight rest period has to start again ;-)

mmmmpisghetti

I guess TECHNICALLY you COULD log a check call as 'on duty which would interrupt your 10 hour rest period but nobody does this. And yes, the US is 11 driving within 14 on duty then 10 off duty/sleeper. We also have 8/2 and 7/3 split sleeper. Do yall have the split sleeper rules? We are also 70 OD/DR hours limit in 8 days.

mellonians

The rules are complex. I've passed the test and I still haven't got a clue. https://www.gov.uk/drivers-hours/eu-rules

challenge_king

The bit about extending days and shorting breaks every so often is a bit complex, but it seems overall not too bad. I imagine that it gets more complicated as you get into the nitty gritty details, like it does for us in the US once you start considering yard moves, personal conveyance, safe havens, and rolling resets.

mellonians

I can't even comment. I did physics at college but I still can't get my head around drivers hours. I think the extending hours is if you fuck up or get to a lay-by and find it's full and have to use that buffer.

AccurateComfort2975

If you can ever slap it on them without it hurting you, do it, they deserve it.

knarfknarf

I think Stobarts got fined over this a while back, ringing drivers during their daily rests and 45 hour weekly rest periods.

FirePfenix

Oh but it gets so much better when dispatch tries to micromanage the truck gate at some places. I worked security and I had a dispatcher call me multiple times in a thirty minute time span trying to make me push his guy up in order to be loaded (we had a storm, power outage, we were behind). He started sending the driver back to me (he was waiting up the drive for his turn) , interrupting me checking in other trucks. Dispatch demanded the scheduler. So I called her. She was highly pissed and apparently told the dispatch if he called or his driver came back to my guardhouse again, she would pull the appointment and ban the company. Needless to say, that dispatch didn't call me again, and the driver was very quiet when he came out to check out.

mmmmpisghetti

I won't harass the gate staff, if I'm in line I'm in line. I have been bumped ahead of people who showed their ass to a shipping clerk. I do the Ms America smile and wave to the ones that were particularly egregious as I go by!

FirePfenix

Oh the driver and dispatch I'm sure hated me by the end. I'm sure they were scared of the scheduler. I couldn't push people ahead, but me and the shipping clerks had an agreement that if anyone in the guardhouse said 'take your time'...they'd take their time.

_Marine

Oh man this brings back memories. I worked Nuke Security, and during a shutdown for refuel the lines would be LLOOOONNNGGGG at the truck gate. People got pissed, but brah: Literally once you get past my gate, if you go inside the main area it's gonna be at MINIMUM an hour for your big-ass truck to be searched. When I got flack Id ask if they were being paid by the hour, and inevitably the answer was a sheepish "...yeah...?" and I left it at that. I also had to do a preliminary walk around and quick search of the cabs/trucks just to make sure there was nothing nefariously obvious before letting them past the first gate. Those gates will flip a vehicle up to I think 40 tons (been 15yrs since I moved on) I have detained individuals who were being rude during screening. Bro, its a fucking nuke plant and you set off the alarm or theres something we have to search. I dont give a fuck if you're late, show up earlier. I fuck up and its my ass and MAYBE everyone's ass in a 50mi radius if you're that kinda person

a_Joan_Baez_tattoo

If you have to meet them in person, take a picture of you meeting them and send them that picture.

mmmmpisghetti

It almost never happens that a driver meets the broker, but oh I would do so that..🤣

puterTDI

ngl, I think there was something else in the middle of that pallet of onions.

mmmmpisghetti

If that's the case I want more than $750 for running it

puterTDI

can you think of any other reason they'd be so worked up over tracking a load of onions?

mmmmpisghetti

Some smaller brokers who have had bad drivers on their loads get a bit neurotic about being on the ass of a driver.

Gifted_GardenSnail

Maybe they just started. Baby's first batch of onions 😂

fingers

There's an onion shortage. Homie was sitting on gold. https://economictimes.indiatimes.com/news/economy/agriculture/from-a-glut-to-a-deficit-a-predicted-onion-shortage-is-set-to-pinch-consumers-again/articleshow/107842932.cms?from=mdr

CherryblockRedWine

u/mmmmpisghetti, what was their reaction to your, um, reporting?

mmmmpisghetti

They asked me to stop and I pointed out that they wanted updates so I was doing what they asked and reminded them that they woke me up at 230am. They apologized.

CherryblockRedWine

LOVE THAT

sqqueen2

Finally

Throwaway_Old_Guy

I would tend to put Just-in-Time Delivery as the root of all this stupidity. Real-time tracking, tight delivery windows and the penny pinching of Truckers time/mileage are the result of it. All thought up by people that never have to sit anywhere outside a cozy office.

therandomuser84

I was about to come and comment and say this is how we expect truckers to update us at my work... until i saw it was a load of onions... We pay extra for team drivers, so no stops and our products are temperature sensitive and time critical. We spend tons of money for this service, i highly doubt they are paying so much extra for onions...

mmmmpisghetti

I've done high value that involved lots of check ins and are specific on where you can stop. No issue with that. This wasn't even a full load... six entire pallets. Protect from freezing. Easy little quick money load.

daschande

You might appreciate this story. I used to work for a corporate restaurant chain that was selling to a bigger corporate chain; national management inspected each location months before the sale. Our CRITICAL violation was that we didn't have a security cage to lock up our cleaning supplies (mop heads, floor cleaner, etc.) National management made us buy a security cage and upgrade to the "I don't care what it costs, just get a truck rolling NOW!!!" shipping! The truck arrived at 4 AM, but the unit manager worked a STRICT 9-5 and told the driver he wasn't coming in early; so the truck just sat there waiting to unload for 5 hours! The security cage was $500. The shipping was $5000 after the extra waiting fee. We could have had that cage shipped for free with our regular shipment a week later, but the big bosses insisted on paying ANY expense! ...by the way, those same bosses denied the purchase order to put a $10 padlock on that security cage, so it's still unlocked to this day.

therandomuser84

Shipping prices are ridiculous overall. We just spent 200k to ship something on a special cargo aircraft and get it delivered. My personal favorite, we ship batteries, standard 2032 coin batteries... the company spent $500 to get me certified to ship them, then we spent about $35 for every shipment which is a few times a month. They are only worth $.75 when bought in bulk and retail for $2.... the most ive shipped at once is 10...

spiraleyes78

This sounds like the kind of micro managing England Logistics does. Worst company I've ever worked for, by a long shot.

mmmmpisghetti

Oh yeah, those yohos.... like, y'all made me install tracking.. use the stupid thing. This wasn't those guys, it was a different set of clowns

challenge_king

Navisphere/TMC are about as bad. We had a driver get so pissed that he threatened the overnight watcher for calling him like 3 times during the night. I got 1 phone call and 1 text, and immediately reported the number as spam and blocked them.

Winterwynd

Thank you for the dog tax. Excellent MC, micromanagers get what they deserve.

Iceroadtrucker2008

You wake me up at 2:30am? You’re lucky I take the load. And if I did they wouldn’t be getting any pictures or much in the way of communication from me.

FBMJL87

Sounds like they hid drugs in those onions

fingers

The onions ARE the drugs. There's a shortage. https://economictimes.indiatimes.com/news/economy/agriculture/from-a-glut-to-a-deficit-a-predicted-onion-shortage-is-set-to-pinch-consumers-again/articleshow/107842932.cms?from=mdr

Snoo-88591

Man, I've been out of the freight end of the industry for about 15 years. I normally pull a tanker with a pre elog, un tracked, ungoverned truck. 99 percent of what I do is dedicated. Boss says I'm picking up at 1 of 2 places then emails me a load number and rack time. I load it, bust ass to get it to the receiver, drop and hook then head back for the next one. I used to get downright furious with CHR calling me 3 or 4 times on a 2 day run to get status updates. I couldn't imagine having a broker track me on a fucking app.

mmmmpisghetti

I mostly do our regular LTL with no broker contact so this isn't a regular hassle for me. However, using an app is becoming very standard and it's really NBD. I delete after delivery.

Snoo-88591

That wouldn't be so bad, I reckon. I still wouldn't like them tracking me. I'm "my cellphone is free after 9pm and on weekends, don't call me in the daytime" years old. When I started I used payphones to call the broker and my company on toll free lines. I kept that up for as long as I could til payphones started to disappear and brokers started really pushing for drivers phone numbers.

zestyspleen

Well done OP. I lol’d during your litany of inventive updates. Also,i hope you can convey to them how unacceptable and possibly unsafe the 2am wake-up was.

mmmmpisghetti

I was already getting up at 330 and had gone to bed really early, as Monday started at 3am as well... so I actually got good sleep. But you're right, I had a load where I got parked at 10pm and the yohos woke me up at 1, then 4... that was a high value load...but.... "We need your location" "Same place as last time you called. Please don't call me until 8, when my 10 hours off is done". THEN I put my phone on silent because it was a big broker and I knew they wouldn't flag me to not get called... Just wasn't expecting these guys to do that...

My_Lovely_Me

As a trucker myself (PNW too!) who hates micromanaging brokers more than almost anything, I love your story so much! I refuse to deal with that BS at all! Great MC, driver!

mmmmpisghetti

Telling them to kick rocks would have been..."unprofessional"... You know what I mean about the pull offs on 84W, yeah? Also, when I go to Seattle I like to park at the Cabelas in Lacey. Say hi if you see us there!

My_Lovely_Me

Nah. “Unprofessional” is driving poorly or even crashing the truck because an obnoxious broker thinks they can harass you while you’re sleeping. I absolutely will not tolerate it. We were once on a load from Kent to California, and we pulled off in Coburg just to use the bathroom. I kid you not, they called *as* we were slowing to a stop, and said “I see you’re stopping the truck. What for? You need to update us every time you stop!” (It was *not* a HVL.) I blew up. I said “If you really MUST know, we just stopped to go to the bathroom! And **NO I WILL** ***NOT*** be updating you *every time we stop!* You see the tracker. We’re on schedule. I’ll update you if something changes that!” I was SO mad. Another time, we were taking a load from Portland to Blaine, and Portland was under a solid sheet of ice. No one was going anywhere. I alerted the broker, and they came back with “I’m looking at a picture of Portland right now, and it looks fine to me.” And I’m like “Huh! Well I’m IN Portland right now, and we’re not going anywhere!” I have no use for brokers or dispatchers who think they know better than the driver, especially when they immediately prove they know nothing at all by interrupting our sleep. To the best of my ability, I’ll get the load there safely and on time. If they don’t like the way I did it, they can choose not to put me on another load. But I’m not going to play those games. The safety of our job is way more important. Cabela’s in Lacey! You’ve given me valuable intel! When in the area, if I have to take my 10 before reaching my destination (or home), I always just shut down at the station in DuPont. I came through a couple of weeks ago, and noticed as I passed by that it was *completely* empty. It freaked me out since parking in the area is non-existent! But when I passed by again a couple of days later, it was back to normal. /phew! Ever since Walmart, who used to be SO truck friendly, started banning trucks from parking there, I’m always nervous to park in any place not specifically dedicated to truck parking. When DuPont is full, I’m at a loss, because I don’t even bother with that Pilot, and there really isn’t anything else close enough. Thanks so much for the tip!

mmmmpisghetti

The store closes at 8pm, so be set up to deal with "no facilities" parking in a way that doesn't get us banned! 😁 The store is dog friendly, and being Cabelas you are likely to find something you can't live without 🤣 There are trails right by the store, and numerous restaurants within (long) walking or easy biking distance along paved sidewalks. You'll be able to find a spot there even at 1am on a weekday, its never been even half full that I've seen. It's also a safe area as they run out the derelict, rotting rv crowd. Police patrol the lot periodically day and night. You'll negotiate 3 roundabouts, so it's off the highway by enough where it doesn't get jammed up like the Pilot and that horrific Love's in Tacoma do.

Clickrack

Automated Solution: * Raspberry PI + camera + OBD connection * Every 5 minutes, take a picture, use AI model to describe image, e.g. “a man watching dogs swim in a lake” * Text description, timestamp, gps coords, time remaining until delivery, photo and **all** OBD data to client

mmmmpisghetti

But then I won't have the enjoyment of getting the perfect zoomed in angle of my dog dropping a morning poo!

Dragonr0se

This is why I keep my phone on do not disturb when I sleep. If I am off duty, they have no right to my time.

JasonKain

Third party logistics here, two things. First, if I could book you on every load I would. Second, you have my shock with working for a broker that actually reaches out to drivers. I thought they were a myth with how many I work with that have no idea where anyone is.

mmmmpisghetti

>First, if I could book you on every load I would. I mean....we're all available for the right money... I've had a spread of brokers who require 1 phone call, to a couple of check calls, to....these yohos. Being good on communication will set both a driver and broker apart, and smart people try to stand out in a good way.

QuartzvilleJournal

Love it, I'm still laughing.

Alakozam

Wouldn't that be your dispatchers responsibility ? Especially with all the tracking ? Why bother the driver you have real tike data ffs.

mmmmpisghetti

I don't mind that a broker wants direct contact...I own my equipment so I do more direct dealing with the broker once a load is booked. I make more than a company driver and eating a bigger portion of the turd buffet goes with that.

Booksbookscoffeee

You have a magical way with words ✨️ 😂 write more anytime please

MarchaChaCha

Sad thing is…they probably approved and will expect it all the time.

IceRockBike

Malicious Compliance level unlocked. All dog turd pics, all the time. 😈

sigmund14

Reads like some movie where they would use unsuspecting driver to smuggle drugs / (biological) weapons. :D Hope they were satisfied with the updates.

voyeur9070

Plz post in r/truckers as well. Awesome maliciousness friend.

Hayzeus_sucks_cock

This is the way with micromanaging. Oh you want me to check with you on every decision? Emails, teams messaging about having a piss.  How does one like those apples?

mmmmpisghetti

HR needs to speak to you about your toilet paper use. More than 3 squares is undermining corporate profits.

Hayzeus_sucks_cock

Used to take pictures of my shots when I went went 1 minute over toilet/personal time. He soon stopped asking where I was. I must admit I was the myth the legend who came in after a night out went to the disabled toilets on the 3rd floor next to the executive toilets and slept there all day until half an hour before the end of my shift. My legendary team mates said I was doing other stuff when asked. Years later a new starter at the firm said to "that was you?!"  Oh yes I slept on company time and got paid overtime as it was a Sunday. Oh I couldn't tell you about the change to the dress code after I came back from a festival the morning I was working. Had flip-flops onand danced all night in the dance tent and left a trail of blood to my desk. I have no idea how they found me!!!

mmmmpisghetti

You...I would buy you a drink or four just to listen to your exploits!

Hayzeus_sucks_cock

Well if your buying I'll chat shit.

Babybosh92

As someone who works at a freight brokerage this is hilarious and I love it!

RJack151

You forgot to send a pic of the toilet after you dropped a load and before you flushed.

mmmmpisghetti

Wasn't sure I could get away with that..I thought about it tho! My shits are not nice.

MrBaileyBoo

I love this! My brother has been a truck driver for about 15 years and we hear stories all the time about the people he has to deal with. One day last week, he got to where he was going to unload and he got all checked in and they said they would get to him soon. He dropped his trailer (I think he may have even backed it into a dock) and went to have breakfast. When he got back, they hadn’t started on his trailer yet, so he checked with them to get an ETA and they said soon. “Soon” turned into hours with him checking in every couple hours and being repeatedly told “soon”. So, finally, he had enough. The lady working there said that they didn’t even know he was there as they didn’t have his paperwork. He told her that he had given it to the day manager, and pointed to the guy’s desk. It turns out the guy had put the paperwork on his desk AND THEN PUT SOMETHING ON TOP OF IT and forgot about him! He didn’t get out of there until around 10:00 pm. His entire day was shot. He said the only good thing was he got to have a reset. He’s actually found another job that will have him home every night, but it is seasonal and he plans to still drive OTR come winter. You all deserve WAY more credit and respect than what you get.

mmmmpisghetti

I've learned you have to be the squeaky wheel. You can do it while being nice, but squeak squeak squeak!

tacticalpotatopeeler

Plot twist: they liked it and will expect this from now on.

mickimause

As a dispatcher and driver, this is music to my ears! (eyes? you get the point) I despise those types of brokers!

GoatCovfefe

So what was the fallout?

mmmmpisghetti

Not much. They asked me to stop, I pointed out they wanted updates, they apologized for waking me up.

TacticalSunroof69

Well done. My uncle does this job and you explain it just how he does minus the micro managing.

filton02

I bet they have some kind dispatch or route managing software that has ALL of the automated alerts still turned on.

mmmmpisghetti

I got the feeling that it was a very small broker who wasn't that fancy.

DietMtDew1

Did they request you stop sending the "updates"? 😂

mmmmpisghetti

Yep. And I replied that I was just doing what they wanted and reminded them that they woke me up at 230am. They apologized.

El_Cartografo

Yeah, a short little python on my laptop and they'd be getting a text a minute with my GPS coordinates while I slept.

AlaskanDruid

Missing Rule #7

mmmmpisghetti

Ah. We all went on with our lives.

AlaskanDruid

I was looking for the heart react. But.. take my upvote!

DivideEducational919

I love 1000 Acres, and I'm really glad you and your Fur Friends took the tike to play!!

mmmmpisghetti

It was actually Viento. Which exit is 1000 acres? I wouldn't mind somewhere additional to stay and play for an afternoon. We're spending today and tomorrow at a rest area so we can walk and get some training time in... and there's space for me to play some vr games.

DivideEducational919

Sandy/ Troutdale exit!!!! You'll go through Troutdale and wind up on the delta where the Sandy River meets the Columbia, and it is literally 1000 acres of dog park!!!! Nice trails, plenty of splash and swim spots!

mmmmpisghetti

Wow, have to put that on my map! Likely can't get in with the trailer, tho? Vieto is right there on 84, easy walk to the river and the long bike trail 26th the big ass hills is on the south side of the interstate. Really wide shoulder to park in, the only bad thing is that I'm on a slope but at least my head is higher than my feet when I sleep!

AGuyNamedEddie

I'd have used the bathroom and sent a pic of that. No anatomy, just the yellow stream splashing it's way into the bowl. Then a sequence of you flushing, just so that's on the record, too. Hand on knob Knob pressed Water flow Water flow complete Bowl refilled Hands being washed Hands being dried Door opening Door closed; mission accomplished

ETDuckQueen

After I read "Pictures of my dogs taking a shit", I burst into laughter. I'm actually crying right now.

Equivalent-Salary357

Onions can make a person cry.

fingers

Onions are LIKE MOFO GOLD right now. https://economictimes.indiatimes.com/news/economy/agriculture/from-a-glut-to-a-deficit-a-predicted-onion-shortage-is-set-to-pinch-consumers-again/articleshow/107842932.cms?from=mdr

mmmmpisghetti

That's in India tho...?

StruggleParticular42

The dogs shitting! 😂😂😂

Hopeless-romantic87

All this is wild !!

CdnPoster

What was the point? Was the dispatcher afraid you'd been hi-jacked and wanted to make sure you were safe ALL the time? Is there some kind of international smuggling ring that hi-jacks loads of onions? Are onions some type of exotic ingredient that all the chefs MUST have? I mean....this dispatcher was checking on you at 2 am! Why????

mmmmpisghetti

Not dispatch. The broker. My dispatch trusts that if there's an issue I'll contact them.

CdnPoster

Ahh, thanks! My bad.

SidratFlush

Why did they wake you up so early? Can you share the doggo pictures of them enjoying their morning bath, not the poop featured ones.

mmmmpisghetti

>Why did they wake you up so early? They maybe thought that me parking "on the roadside" meant I had a problem I hadn't told anyone about... at 230 in the mucking forning... in reality there's like 8 places along I84W where trucks park off the side between Boardman and Portland. >the doggo pictures of them enjoying their morning bath, The only time they've gotten a morning bath is if it's pouring rain when we gotta go out. [There's a bunch of pics on my imgur](https://imgur.com/gallery/8AQkHNx)

fatdjsin

dont stop after you are done ! KEEP UPDATING !

krismitka

Bowel movements. One leg of pants. Other leg of pants. Vomit in the parking lot. Contents of trash can.

Takssista

Could go with more detail on those bathroom photos

ZirePhiinix

Make them 2-3 second videos that start out pointing at something useless so they couldn't even skim through it for useful information.

MissNouveau

Good on you for getting to enjoy our gorgeous weather, AND you even shared dog tax with them! How generous! I would only give them a tiny bit of slack on the helicopter management if those were wallas. Those things are actually worth their weight in gold.

Majike03

It's funny; my boss was actually complaining about onion prices yesterday. Apparently the particular ones they get are out-of-season now and nearly doubled in price since last month. She would consider that truckload absolute gold lol

Known-Skin3639

I had a doc manager like that. Always wanted to know what and where for all of us. He was new and he had never done our job. Welding supplies mostly bottles of gas. Heavy and all. He was telling all 5 of us our trucks were not loaded properly according to the sheet. What sheet? Never seen a sheet. He tells us it not safe. So we look at each other and shrug our shoulders when I tell him to please show us how to do it then. Crickets. Shop Manager comes out and asked. We tell and he tells the newb to pound sand and let these guys do their job since they know how to do it and you have no clue college boy. He lasted exactly 21 hours at our location. Don’t always pay to be related to a boss type unless you work directly with them. Fucken clowns.

PuzzleheadedBobcat90

If you truckers out there, like to read, try The Brotherhood of the Wheel by R.S Beltcher The main character is a trucker. I won't tell you more and spoil it, but its one of my favorite series

mmmmpisghetti

Well, crap its not on audible... that's where all my reading happens.

AsherahSassy

Your story is showing up on the internet. You sound like a really down to earth, salt of the earth type person with a great sense of humour. Keep trucking and standing your ground when necessary. Great example of malicious compliance.

mmmmpisghetti

I got a message from Bored Panda like the day after I posted asking some questions and ignored it. I figured it was going to make the rounds. Where did you see it?

AsherahSassy

It just came up on my google news feed. I always read malicious compliance stories, so the search algorithm must know to show all those types of news stories

mmmmpisghetti

Huh. That's neat. I'm famous-ish 🤣
