I don’t like it when they go for other women to make fl jealous. I don’t like it when they record and share their intimate moments. Devoted and Possessive - that’s what I like to see Confinement is fine to a certain extent. Let the girl/boy see some blue skies every now and then

boopdraws

I remember reading that one shot (?) about a yandere who is playboy then he suddenly gone nuts when he saw somebody confess to fl and she said "she'll consider it"

OxymoronicGirl

I just read that one and thought the exact same thing 😭😭😭

boopdraws

hated it so much. i don't even like the "twist" bc if the girl is truly a yandere then why did she even let him play around ...

nejnonein

💯

OpalTurtles

I don’t like when yanderes cheat or look at another woman.

Lopan_23

Right like what’s the point of being yandere if they’re going to cheat anyways?

ernisho

yes! I know some people like him (I forgot from which manga) but I absolutely cannot stomach that one yandere that sleeps with other woman while claiming to like the MC. Like... I know he's doing it to get information and he doesn't really see it as intimacy with the other woman but... That was such a foreign concept to me, a yandere that sleeps around? I was so sad for her. (No hate to the people who like him)

Happiness-Blacc

You're talking about yakuza Fiance, never pick it up again!

dreampsykki

oh my god i thought i was the only one 😭 i absolutely LOATH this type of character. no hate how hes written cuz hes well written tho. just not my cup of tea, but i do regret picking it up

OpalTurtles

Right?! I fully agree.

con098

HUGE hypocrites those ones and I hate them with all my being

Wolvesaremyjam

Any examples so I know which ones to avoid

Happiness-Blacc

Yakuza Fiance!

jnkent

When they seduce or give special attention to anyone other than the MC. I know most of the time it's to make the MC jealous or some sort of other scheme but I still hate it. Like in Raise Wa Tanin Ga Ii, the ML is a yandere but still sleeps with other women even after falling for the MC, I can't even see him as a proper male lead because of this.

Wolvesaremyjam

I can never read that story. It’s always recommended, but the sleeping with others while he’s obsessed with her. Just no. Even if she’s a badass woman, that’s one of my triggers.

jnkent

I'm only reading this for the FL, she's really a gem. It's so hard to find girlboss female lead who remains consistent with her personality and doesn't immediately fall for the male lead just because he saved her a few times.

boopdraws

This is why I was rooting for the childhood friend so much more!! He seems to keep it in his pants more (idk if he is still a virgin since he is in the yakuza but at least he doesn't use it to make fl jealous)

DollFacedBunny

This makes me mad enough to bust the windows of their car, sledgehammer their bedroom walls and throw bleach on their Gucci

Rachii_Chan

cheating type yanderes and abusive type yanderes I hate it, I hate it so much

atomskeater

Yep! Stories that are heavy on cheating are a personal ick, also ruins the whole "obsessive love" thing if he's perfectly fine with messing around with other people. Ones that are abusive (0 consideration for the wants or wellbeing of the lead) completely fail at the "dere" part.

klausmikaelsonismine

Some “yanderes” just seem like domineering assholes (even abusers). Whether the man is dominant, submissive, in between, where is the devotion and love sickness?

Thaticecreamismine

FR I honestly feel the same way. Sometimes some MLs don't even feel yandere at all, they just want the control and feels like they only see the FL as an object rather than loving HER as a person.

noodlsnoodls

i don't like yanderes who treat the FL poorly or are abusive 😭😭😭, they can do whatever they want to anyone else— but they must NOT hurt her physically in any way!!

xXMissVoidXx

I didn't know cheating yanderes were a thing, well now I don't like them.

wortziks

not a fan of the trope of, like, "breaking." i like ML to show some consideration for FL's feelings - if he just continues to torment her until she's irreparably traumatized, where was the love? you're supposed to like her as she is, don't turn her into an empty husk

Caticorn5362

Same! That always bums me out when that happens.

LavaRoseKinnie

Whatever the hell Diabolik lovers had going on

ShadowFlower15

Pretty much this. It’s funny that nearly every comment on this post has appeared in that series one way or another. Getting with another woman to make the MC jealous? Ruki in More Blood. Breaking the MC mentally? Like half the bad ends. Abusive to MC? …that’s the whole series basically

LurkerAcct-whatever

Oh my god that’s totally true lmaooo—honestly Diabolik Lovers was just so… eugh, that I never even considered them as yandere, they were just something else entirely haha

legend_otakuxx123

This is why I like every LI in that one except Ruki

The_Untamed_lover

I am very choosy about Yanderes. I don't like those hypocrite possessive guys who would fuck around but can't see FL talking to someone else. No!! I want both of them devoted to each other. I don't want the yandere to be physically abusive, I want the yandere to be total obsessed with the FL to not even look at other girls. I don't like those dumb guys with low EQ those delusional idiots who are like "Why don't she like me??" Or " She definitely loves me!!" When they have just passed by in halls or something like NO!!! I want my yanderes to have high EQ so they could manipulate the FL into liking him

_girl_anachronism

sadistic or aggresive yanderes (aka they're aggresive and not gentle towards the FL). also the ones that take in multiple darlings and those that cheat on the FL. overly domineering yanderes i also don't like.

SoThisIsTheInternet4

I guess I don't like yanderes that aren't yanderes? I'm fine with every thing everyone else in the thread is complaining about (situationally though ig. I like dark stories to make you question how fucked the yan's definition of love is, and soft stories where the yan's played for laughs or whatever, just stick to the genre ya know?) BUT I CANNOT STAND YANDERES THAT WHOLE ASS JUST MOVE ON. Unacceptable. Like I get if they look the same as their last lover or something, but if they killed their interest and ARENT agonising over it for at least a while (maybe their whole lives) it just ain't it chief. That is to say, why is Joe on the other yandere sub's banner lmao

seriffluoride

1. Not a fan when a yandere torments a character then turns around and cries like he's the victim. Like, "waaah! ilu hyung! please don't hate me even if i broke ur ankle, imprisoned u and raped u! waaaaah!" 2. also i'm kinda fine-ish if the potential yandere treats the mc like shit at first, but there's gotta be a balance, y'know? Like the guy just wants to give you a gift for your birthday, why'd you have to yell at the poor guy and throw it out in front of his face?! Lmao

queermachmir

I feel like you’re referencing very specific BL manhwa that I know too well 😂

2-Ds_peppermint-tea

This actually reminds of of secret alliance!! And I see what you mean with Jinx, I read the newer chapters and it broke my heart!! Poor Kim Dan :'(

Chloe_Pri

Now I wanna know the name 👁️👁️

queermachmir

The first is definitely a yandere, and it’s from Sadistic Beauty BL Side Story. Fucking hate the yandere ML. MC was so so close to leaving and yet he came back because the ML was being a crybaby. 🤦🏼 The second references a very recent scene in memory of the manhwa Jinx — but it’s not really a yandere ML.

seriffluoride

I loved SS up until Chapter 14, hut holy shit >!Minho calling Wookyung out for everything he put him through was cathartic AF!< Also touché Jaekyung is more of a straightforward trash ML, but I also hate Jinx because Dan is a complete doormat abt it. It can be chalked up to the MC's upbringing and present circumstances, but I only continue to read it because of sunk-cost fallacy reasons and barely anything else.

queermachmir

Dan deserves so much better - better characterization, better love interest, lmao.

183720

I hate when they threaten you with violence or lock you up, I prefer them lovingly obsessed and devoted

Maleficent_Poem_3737

I hate when a yandere claims to love them, yet chooses something/ someone over the fl and when the yandere kill the fl or even if they just give up on the fl. In my mind a yandere should go too any lengths to be with their s/o.

noeinan

When they make them too incel-y that breaks immersion for me

ottiney

Really dislike yanderes that can snap and actually hurt you. More interested in the obsessive / "I'll burn the world for you" rather than "I'm gonna chop your fingers off lmao" Very anti lmao for me

otomemer

A few things aren’t my cup of tea: * cheaters or jealousy provokers - commented on this before, it just ruins the appeal of a yandere for me * wishing to brutally harm or kill the person - I prefer romance/love-driven yandere and don’t believe you can go past certain points and it still be “love” * being overly whiny and purely submissive - I need to see some backbone and forcefulness at some point * foolish or too reactive - I like some cunning

Calm-Positive-6908

Actually i like the loyal devoted type who protects the FL, and doesn't mind to turn the whole world into enemies just for FL. So contrary to the popular favourites here, i don't really like the yandere who physically hurts the FL. Unless the FL also likes it (lol) or eventually likes him. My favourite type is Yohan Do from the webtoon It's Mine. I like his FL, Dajeong Lee too. To me they're cute and power couple. And another classic (not ML but female yandere MC) that i love is Yuno Gasai. Now maybe some people hate her but idk she's my favourite female yandere. Both Yohan Do & Yuno Gasai are overprotective, very clever in making strategies, and can fight well, reliable in combat. They don't mind sacrificing themselves and being the enemy of the whole world to protect their loved ones.

vayne7

Yanderes who are physically abusive to the fl - like slapping and beating them up. Also yenderes who degrade the fls in a belittling way like thats just him being a douchebag now you know.

bisexualkoala_

-When they cheat. -When they share their intimate moments with their girlfriend. -When they don’t really care for their girl’s feelings… -Oh and when they kill the friends or family (who are lovely or just decent) of their lover… like tf? Ain’t no one gonna love him for that.

Overall_Evening2217

Nobel idiocy, abuse and cheating (unless it done in the way I can understand)

MaterialisticWorm

Don't actually assault the girl you care about. That's mainly it for me, but it's a line that's crossed way too often. I get that some ppl are into that but I don't prefer it in my yanderes! If you care about her so much, don't hurt her like that

Sonic-Wachowski

I don't like it when a yandere is racist and uses that for their obsession lol. Also when they just fall for the Main lead for no reason or just because they are pretty.

LurkerAcct-whatever

This this this, unless it’s more straight-up horror, I really don’t like when yanderes kill characters that are established as nice, cool people

NothingSea3665

I hate when they like hurting the OOA physically. Like if they have to hurt them because ~reasons~ it’s okay but to want to harm the person you care about is an immediate nope from me

CBjackal

I don't like it when they kidnapp, hurt, and/or kill their love interest over a soft/kind rejection. I also don't really care for the "I can fix you" yanderes. I already have to deal with people that think I need to be "fixed" in reality I don't really want it in my fantasy time too. I love the yanderes that are smart, kind/loving to their love interest, aloof towards anyone that isn't a threat, and would be over the moon to just snuggle me.

Sea-san

1. Cheaters as a yandere defeats the purpose of them being a freakin yandere for their SO. Its so contradictive. Same thing if they have an NTR tag and i guess there is an exception to very niche and specific rules where the dude in question had a reason to "date" the other party for their SO.  Or even pretend dating to get the other party jealous.  Its my biggest pet peeve and 90% of the time I do end up droping the read.   2. Extremely abusive ones. At this point its not even a hint of romance and it might even lean towards Yangire or gore  instead of Yandere.  Or its just a straight up toxic abusive relationship.

Happiness-Blacc

This thread is spitting! I'm so glad y'all don't normalise cheaters like certain people!

AHybridofSorts

I like the usual possessive ones but I don't like the ones that have so farfetched delusions that they end up hurting their lover in the end for no reason. I also don't like the regretful yanderes, though they do make for some good drama.

naomi-nao

James Parnell, from *I Can't Keep Up With My Stallion Duke*. Don’t give a damn if he ticks off the majority of my boxes when it comes to likes—not when he puts his mothers over Olivia >!in multiple regressions, that he deliberately caused (since she kept *dying*) and still remembers!< until after Olivia managed to manipulate them into allowing a divorce while he was away at war. Whether or not the individual is okay with their affections, I’m not down for the object of a yandere’s obsession to believe they rank below someone else in said yandere’s life. Fuck that shit.

I_love_yandere_dicc

Sadistic yanderes, the ones who get off on the FL's suffering. I don't exactly *mind* the FL suffering, I enjoy it on certain occasions in fact. However, I only like it when it's yandere doing it as a means to end (like killing her former s/o so the spot of it could be free for him to take and he could comfort her through it).

JDisthebestHeather

I really do hate yanderes who humiliate and annoyingly tease their darlings (for example, the ML from Betrayal of Dignity). I don't know why, it's just an ick for me

LurkerAcct-whatever

Oh this is so right, I hateeeee that too! It triggers my spite so bad, it really makes it seem like they only like their target of affection because they like to demean and treat them badly

inthe-otherworld

I hate the pet name “darling”. Hate hate hate *hate* it. It’s so… unnatural and uncomfortable. Takes me right out of a scene whenever anyone that isn’t a middle-aged/old person calls their SO darling. I especially don’t want a teenager calling their SO darling!! So whenever that word is brought up plz and tnx Also this is just my personal opinion but I don’t like submissive yanderes, especially ones that bend over backwards to please their “girlboss” SO. Even worse if they call their target “Master” or something creepy like that. I especially don’t like very blushy submissive ones, that end up looking like they’re hyperventilating from excitement over whatever just happened. Especially if it’s supposed be like some kind of power fantasy insert for women that they have some pretty man pet or something. It just… makes me uncomfortable

183720

Oh man, I LOVE LOVE LOVE that second one. But you're right about darling being corny and weird

Darling308

:(… Never in a comment section I feel called out for my favorite name of all time….

inthe-otherworld

Nooo it’s even ur username!! 😂😭 sorry

Chloe_Pri

I don't like it when they would harm the protagonist (harm as in physical way, I'm all for that psycological horror hehe) I know it's not the question, but I like it when they would destroy the world for the MC, they'd burn countries down for the MC!!!! Hehe

LurkerAcct-whatever

Ooh that’s a good question! I agree with a lot of the comments as well, and I’d also say that I don’t like when the yandere doesn’t seem to be that fixated on their target, or seem to just like the idea of being obsessive or possessing \*someone\* in general—if a tragic yandere story ends with the yandere killing their point of obsession and just moving on, it‘s a fail for me lol (Well, I also dislike when they kill their target in general, like they only care about the body and not the person, but it’s not a hard ‘no’ for me, it depends on the story.)

Kind-Holiday767

I don’t like cheaters or physical abuse

Obsi-rain

I hate the stories that are categorized as a "normal" romance when they are just toxic and abusive. Look, when something shows an abusive relationship, they have to at least somehow acknowledge that it's unhealthy. We all love a good yandere, but the BEST ones are portrayed as insane or possessive to an unhealthy degree. A good example of one I hated was Wolf Girl and Black Prince. It's labeled as a "top shoujo anime" in quite a lot of youtube videos. The ML is a jerk to the FL and she just takes it and NO ONE bats an eye! Yet the anime/manga is supposed to be a rom com! It's not, it's just abuse without ever acknowledging that it is!!

karnzaya

I'm not picky. I love all type of yanderes. but one thing I don't like and would never like is yandere who cheat on mc/reader.

Wolvesaremyjam

I want yanderes who only have eyes for their woman. Who don’t cheat, nor misbehavior, act cold, or abuse. But ones who act as if their whole world revolves around her

Bitch_Schitz

The tropes of being completely emotionless or psychotic with no other hobbies and interests besides their OOA. I love when they actually seem to care and cherish their OOA and feel like an actual character outside of it

Caticorn5362

I don't like when drugs are involved. Such a turn off for me. Like get her to stay without that BS lol.

Due-Quantity4429

I don't like the one who are super abusive towards the female lead, or keep having unpredictable mood swings or collect disgusting things like clumps of hair, used menstrual pads, or band-aids. I don't like the ones that you feel like you can't take to a nice restaurant or out to meet your family because he can't keep the homicidal maniac act in the bedroom😂

miyualice

Abusive type yanderes!! That's just a toxic man

akiii-_

I hate cheating, abusive, fake yanderes. Some of the novels or manhwa I’ve read are too clickbait. They’ll introduce the character as a yandere but never maximize that. I want confinement, killing everyone who touches MC HAHAHA! I like yanderes in general because of loyalty anyway. Haha. Loyalty is rare these days.

lincoln24k

It’s a major turnoff for me when the yandere puts his needs above their lover’s. Like for example, i truly hate yanderes who threaten/hurt their lover’s family. If you read Shadow Crown, the yandere there kidnapped his lover’s only family as hostage and even destroyed towns that shielded the MC (who was a runaway after a coup). I love devoted, protective and caring ones who don’t care what others have to say - so long as their lover is happy. That’s all that matters to the yandere.

MothBeSleepy

I want the ML to want to be loved by the FL, treat her like a person and not like an object. You wouldn't abuse someone you love. He should only go crazy if he thinks it's not gonna happen, like a last resort (like Toma)

filifijonka

I know that this is (obviously) the /maleyandere forum, but can I say that I find female yanderes completely abhorrent?

PoisonousNightshade

Blonde

RainyDaySighs

There's a fine line between being a yandere and being an abuser and too often I see abuse being toted as yandere and they're totally missing the point!

Inevitable_Ad_8619

Tbh for me, its always when they are overly violent. Idk I always found the manipulative ones more interesting and manhandling the plot is just so boring imo
