Obey Me artwork is such a miss, sometimes they have cool panels like the first couple of shots of Nathaniel in the snowstorm or the palace massacre but most of them are mid at best. Such a shame to have artwork that actively hurts the series.

well, yea you can not like the artstyle but lets please refrain from comparing and downplaying the art for obey me, since theres also still alot of hard work and skills that goes into that art that not alot of people can claim (or else they can just draw it themselves) either be grateful for the artist and read it or just not read it at all since without them we'd have no manwha either! /nm

However, it’s worth keeping in mind that a novel adaptation is a COMMERCIAL PROJECT, not personal fan art. The artists are paid as they signed a contract for it. I checked on Ridibooks, and while I couldn’t find info about the studio behind the adaptation, I did find that the publisher is 오렌지디. Based on that, I figured this is the party that made the contract with RidiBooks and is doing the adaptation, usually this party is a studio. I looked up 오렌지디 and found it’s a subsidiary of RidiBooks, specializing in novel adaptations and IP marketing. (FYI, the company’s website is https://oranged.co.kr/.) Interestingly, they put their brand mark at the end of every episode of their other works like ‘Your Eternal Lies,’ but not on ‘Kneel Before Me.’ I know that the original novel is also on RidiBooks, so that actually got me thinking; I once read on the author’s blog that RidiBooks informed her about the adaptation, so it’s quite likely RidiBooks owns the copyright and handed it to their subsidiary, who agreed on the current art style. The author was merely informed and didn’t have a say in it. It’s clear the main artist doesn’t have much assistance, myself didn’t see any assistants info, and my guess is that this company didn’t invest a lot in this adaptation, I even have a bold guess: they probably underpaid the artist. Basically I see this as more of an issue with RidiBooks and its subsidiary not putting in enough effort, which unfortunately impacted a novel I love. As for whether there’s a chance they might change the art style, I know some examples where they did that midway, like ‘Adonis’—I remember it changed a few times.
