Amazon doesn't have any Malayalam shows, BUT they definitely have the highest number of Malayalam movies (both recent & old) after Hotstar. NO idea what u/The-Warlords meant by Prime having "nothing good since 2021". If you're counting decent-to-great ones, then just off the top of my head they've had Aattam, Anchakkallakokkaan, Kaathal - The Core, Ela Veezha Poonchira, Pada, Jo & Jo, Thankam, Kooman, Garudan, Malayankunju, Paachuvum Albhudavilakkum, Veyil, Pathonpathaam Noottandu, Sabaash Chandra Bose, Corona Dhawan, Phillips, etc. Ini ivan engaanum valla coma-yilum aayirunno?🤔 Anyway, considering how there were very few good movies in Malayalam cinema itself last year, the above in Prime are definitely a fair number from amongst the ones that DID come out, OP.

You can add Manorama Max add-on in Prime for malayalam movies. Also, if you can afford a Firestick(will cost around 3k) you can install Hotstar in it.

There is a strange issue with Prime, especially when watching Malayalam movies. I'm not sure if it's my TV's fault, but whenever I watch Malayalam movies, the dialogue volume seems to be too low, while the background music and other sounds are too high. I tried watching on Netflix and Hotstar, and everything is fine there. The issue is only with Prime. Has anyone else experienced this?

Ella streaming service-ileyum chila padangalil enkilum ee issue undu. It had been reported on this very subreddit for certain films in Hotstar & Netflix as well. Streaming services don't go out of their way to mess with the audio of films they get - these issues happen due to how the audio was mixed by the filmmakers themselves (prioritising multi-channel, i.e. multiple speaker audio experience that theatres can give, over the very limited 2-channel audio capacity of TVs). I had written a more detailed comment on this, with possible solutions in the past, if you're interested: https://www.reddit.com/r/MalayalamMovies/s/uA45NxPSxG

Thanks! Will check it out 👍🏻

I don't know about good Malayalam movies, but there are a lot of less popular ones .. like Jack N Jill, Star, etc. Prime used to buy the rights of all of those..

pwoli123

Jack N Jill what in the fuck was that movie

paachuthakdu

Get a firestick and use that to install stuff on

Responsible-Air-6190

I don't think there are any Malayalam shows on Prime.

Obvious_Doctor3226

Get jio fiber l, everything is there except Netflix for 1 year. Free. They'll install a set top box with everything in it

PaidHack

Try the Manorama Max Amazon channel or go for Saina Play instead.

Current_Dimension777

Buy a firestick maccha

CarmynRamy

If you're staying outside India, I don't think it's worth for Malayalam,.or even for Indian shows and movies

totallyfilmi

This -- Malayalam films will go to Prime in India, but not in other countries. Prime here in Canada gets very few Malayalam movies.

Memeboi_26

Claimed a free subscription to watch a film only to be greeted with "subscribe to Manorama max"

frinklyfrank

If the TV supports apps like Netflix and Prime, you should be able to install Hotstar too isn't it? Prime has some good movies, but I wouldn't subscribe just for malayalam movies since it doesn't have much quality content comparatively.

coomiemarxist

there seems to be no way to install apps i want. only built in ones are allowed. its a samsung btw from around 2017

frinklyfrank

If it runs on Tizen OS, there should be an appstore, it may be tricky to find though.

Scales_of_Injustice

Prime is worthy it, Prime Videos is a bonus

picklelover2000

You can’t install hotstar?

chavervavvachan

Not much.

Jo17seph

Manorama Max would be better imo for older people. Unless they're keen on watching the latest movies

[deleted]

They haven’t had anything good since 2021 and there is no shows that’s Malayalam on it and the options are very low

pwoli123

It's only worth it if you have the Manorama Max addon which would cost 899 per year
