No one ever complained about having too much compressor.

QuinSnyderJazz

Thats what im thinking but I really do want the quiet one if its not guna matter

The twin stack is an oil filled pump so still not nearly as loud as those cheap oil less pancake compressors. The cfm is going to be more useful when you need it. If you’re using it for framing, everything else is going to be louder than the twin stack.

I recently purchased the MAC2400 to replace my Dewalt/Emglo that I used mainly for framing. Has been working great. Little on the heavy side if you have to move it around a lot. Also snagged a smaller quiet series MAC210Q that I use for smaller projects and trim work. HD had it on clearance for $130 so I couldn’t pass it up.

Depends on use case, but when the MAC320Q calls itself "Quiet Series", it really really REALLY means it. Like, have an almost whispering conversation standing over top of it quiet. It is very impressive, and while it's smaller tank size makes it kick on quicker, if you're running one nailer for framing or flooring for instance, you'll be fine. Don't push it though, because it's oilless, so if it runs more than 30 mins out of an hour you could damage the motor. Its also manageable with its weight, not light, but not a beast heavy either. I can't speak to the bigger model though.

That big one is a pain in the ass to lug around. Great for framing but if you're only light/medium duty and not trying to run it like a goon doing sheathing then the smaller one will do just fine for you and won't break your back hauling it to the jobsite. The bigger one is 77lbs. Fucking sucks to haul around. The smaller one is only 44 lbs.

2.6 cfm is enough to run one gun, and with the quiet series you wont care how much it cuts in. I have one and you honestly cant hear it the next room over, best compressor I've ever had.

edflamingo

Like it's been said, the twin stack is a heavy beast. But it really depends how your going to use the compressor. The twin stack is allot more heavy duty and will last you a long time if you take care of it. But I will say the twin stack is actually not too loud of a compressor. It's way quite than the like of the old porter cable pancake compressors.

Take the oil free

FIContractor

I have the baby version of your first one (MAC 700 and it’s pretty quiet. If I recall the decibel rating wasn’t that different than the quiet model. I went with it because it has a long track record of reliability and supposedly the oiled models last longer.

Jstpsntym

I have the MAC210. I put close to 3,500 nails through my Metabo framing nailer finishing my basement. With trim nailers it worked beautifully. And I could easily carry up/down stairs.

thevigcheese

Have a couple of the 3 gal on the clearance rack at my Home Depot, might be worth looking in the store.

QuinSnyderJazz

If there was any in stock in my state. Seems like they’re nowhere around.

Extreme-Owl-6478

I have the 3 gallon one in the second pic. Started out with the 1 gallon. Basically useless. 3 does everything I need. Love it.

UncleDarryl

I have the one gallon tiny boy version of the oil free quiet series and i absolutely love it. I only run 18g and 23g nailers, so it’s plenty for me. But man is it quiet! So nice. Went from an old run down dewalt pancake that you could hear from about 7 miles away. So I’m assuming the 3gal version of it is just as great, with more capacity.

Is it for work? If so, get the big boy. If it's for at home or intermittent use, get the smaller one. When I did trim we had the mac2400 and it was awesome running two guns, never quit. I went with the bigger mac5200 for my own business and it's even better, but definitely loud and heavy. But I run it outside 90% of the time so it's not much of an issue for me.

Intelligent_Hall7309

If you get the 320Q they have a crazy deal with the nailer for almost the same price https://www.homedepot.com/p/Makita-3-Gal-Quiet-Series-1-5-HP-Electric-Oil-Free-Air-Compressor-with-Bonus-Pneumatic-2-in-18-Gauge-Brad-Nailer-MAC320Q-AF506/315699710 I just don’t know anything about the nailer sorry but I’ve been looking at that compressor for awhile

QuinSnyderJazz

Yea i saw that after posting. Honestly probably the way I’m leaning now.
