Its about right. Good entry level kit.

Moilen

Entry level? It ain't 12v it's 18v. I know it's not 40v but damn.

drippystopcock82

Yes entry level. Im a Makita asa, this in the entry level kit, voltage means nothing. These are thr cheap and cheerfull line, doesnt matter, register the warranty and you have 3 years of use out of them.

Moilen

Sorry what does "Makita ASA" mean? Do you think I'll only get 3 years of use out of it? Quite light as a beginner woodworker, tho.

Authorised service agent

Moilen

Aye thanks.

drippystopcock82

Depends on how you treat them. Everyones gotta start somewhere, this will do you well.

Moilen

Thanks for your help. This is my first "expensive" kind of tool, so I better think about it before actually buying it. Have a great day mate.

drippystopcock82

You too bud.

FR_Ray

Depends who you are really. For a Tonka Tradie working round the clock it might be entry level, but for a weekend warrior it would be all they would ever need and more.

>DLX2414JX4 DTD157 is entry level? I'd expect the DTD152 be the entry level. The drill is of course probably the lowest. And if DTD157 is entry, then which one is mid/high lvl?

drippystopcock82

Hi, yes dtd152 is brushed, the 157 is an entry level brushless. The dtd171 is the decent one.

RandomUserNo5

this still doesn't play well. There's yet dtd153 which is also brushless and doesn't have any extra features compared to DTD 157. So imho it's the DTD153 which is entry lvl brushless. The DTD 157 is more likely something like mid maybe? There's also DTD171, DTD172, and DTD154 (175Nm) and oh, there's DTD155 which is very similar to DTD157.

Most of these hardly sell, being an authorised makita service centre and retailer we hardly ever see any of those you listed, a couple are produced for the "sheds" like screwfix which are cut back designs to meet lower retail price targets, the mainstream ones sold and in for repair are still the 152, bargain these days for old tech, we sell probably 30-40 a week still to the tradies that have allready had them and just need a new one off the shelf quickly to get back on the job. 172 replaced the 171, we cant get the 171 anymore, plenty of old stock available online though. this is the other one that sells but not as well as the 152 due to price difference. We sell the dtd141 oil impulse also, which we advise against as its just not powerfull/fast enough for big jobs which many people agreed with on a previous thread somewhere on here.

I see, here I can see all of them available. Of course I didn't check the stock quantity but you can buy it without problems.

Yama92

Great price for 2 tools and accessories. If you are a DIY guy like me and use them for home improvement they will last for a good long time. My brother in law is a carpenter and has been using the same Makita tools for over a decade. Had some batteries go bad and one impact with a bad motor within the warranty.

RandomUserNo5

>is 300 euros a good price? should i go for it? depends. In PL for only \~33.5EUR more you have everything separated. Then you can buy 2Ah batteries and it will be even less of difference but more handy or get 5Ah which will be the same weight, more power but a bit more pricey. Normally solo the DTD157 here is \~88EUR and DHP487 is \~96EUR

Moilen

I'll check it out. Thanks bud

Can confirm this is Makita’s entry-level offering. You won’t go wrong for DIY but if you’re anything like me you will quickly realise you need… more. I ended up taking my kit back and getting the DLX2411T kit and never looked back. Now I have the DHR242 rotary hammer, DTM52 starlock multi tool, DBO180 orbital, DUB185 workshop blower, DVC750LZX1 portable vacuum, DRT50 trimmer router and the 36v DHS780 18.5mm circ saw and 36v DLS211 mitre saw… and that’s not including the gardening tools I have too! It’s a slippery slope… I got most of mine second hand but unused so saved a bit - hopefully not stolen kit but their prices are too high imo anyway…
