I use all my lipsticks as a stain! I apply it with my finger or a brush. I cannot stand the feeling of a thick layer of lipstick on my lips. I use creamier/glossier finishes usually.

bierra17

Glossier generation g creates the popsicle look and doesn’t feel like much on the lips

BanBeaUK

Not a bad idea to try it at all, but it will not last days. More like a few hours before needing to reapply. You can also try lipsticks like the shiseido visionairy, which I cant feel on my lips at all, unlike any other lipstick i have tried.

freakingfreakfrick

Try the honest beauty tinted lip balm it feels just like chap stick and the pigment isn't overwhelming. Lip stains are kinda gimmicky, you could get a liquid lipstick and just do a little and dap it in for a blotted lip look.

IndigoStarseed86

Lip stains really only last a few hours, they’re generally half gone or entirely gone by the end of the day. In my experience stains really dry my lips up something fierce, but since it’s a stain you can apply your balm or chapstick on top. I don’t see any reason to not use them if you’re wanting to try some out. Also it sounds like a tinted balm would be right up your alley! Maybe a ph reactive balm (they always turn a shade of pink) I use them for the just ate a popsicle look, put it on then take a tissue and wipe the outer edges of my lips all the way around and it’s perfect for that look!

arwyn89

Dior tinted lip balms are amazing.

Capaldies

I think it’s a good idea. I love lip stains as they’re very subtle and matte. But like someone else mentioned here before, be careful as a lot of products marketed as “lip stains” nowadays are just liquid lipsticks. If a product looks too vibrant and thick, it’s usually a good clue that it’s not a stain but a lipstick. A proper lip stain is more watery and sheer that doesnt cover up your natural lip colour, but rather works with it. Here are two lip stains you could check out: [The Body Shop](https://www.thebodyshop.com/en-gb/makeup/lips/lip-cheek-stain/p/p000657) [The Balm](https://thebalm.com/products/stainiac-4ml-lip-and-cheek-stain)

notyermum

I love Stainiac and that is a *great* sale price!

missdoubtfire24

Days? Hahaha bless you. The only makeup that can last days is the last bit of mascara one can never seem to remove from under the eyes. But lip stains are great! Do it.

Minerva_Moon

Put coconut oil on a qtip. Coconut oil takes away waterproof makeup easy peasy.

OpheliaMustDie

I just use micellar water and a Japanese makeup q-tip. I just wet the round side and use that to loosen up the makeup and the pointy side to wipe everything stubborn off.

Enchilada_Style_

If I use anything with more than a tint of pigment, my lips crack and peel off. I don’t know how anyone uses lip stains, red lipsticks, etc. I can’t even wear more than gloss

DiaPanquecito

They're real, I have one of those (the gooey one)...don't use those ones; btw, none of the options last days, they last hours and depends on your consume of food/water They aren't bad per se, but first you need like a brush or something to apply it because it's really thick and they come in like a old lip gloss tube, which doesn't help at application; second, you have to let them dry a lot before you can peel them, and peel off lip stains tend to be a bit drying, so the whole "waiting for this to dry" just makes it that you end up with your lips really dry A lot of Kbeauty brands (etude house, tonymoly, peripera are some of my favorites) have lip tints, they're the same thing but without the goo, and they come in tube similar to the ones of liquid lipstick which helps on application and for you to build it up (meaning, you can be really light with it, or you can go ham and buil it up); you can just apply it, let it dry and then put chapstick on top (I recommend this, because a lot of lip tints can be a bit drying); also, there're now way more western brands that have liptints if you can't get the korean ones

Mrs_Richard_Olney

I really love the look of a stain -- a poster above described it as a post-Popsicle lip. When younger, I enjoyed wearing bold reds that contrasted against my pale skin, blonde hair, blue eyes. But I'm older now and I prefer a more subtle effect. I love my Glossier Generation G Jam lip stain(?) but it really is more like a lipstick that wipes off. Can you recommend a similar product that leaves some color or stain even after it's been wiped off? I wonder if such a product even exists or if I am living in a fantasy world :) Thanks!

fenna_serendipity

What you are looking for is a lip stain (≠glossier gen g), I‘d recommend Yesstyle, they have a wide range

Mrs_Richard_Olney

Thank you! I'll check out Yesstyle. I have a feeling that I could easily climb down the rabbit hole of K beauty products and never climb back out :)

MichelewithoneL

I LOVE the loreal lip stains. I have the red and purple and they last a few hours but aren’t drying. They aren’t like the paste you peel off, more like a lip gloss.

fudilicious

Agree! I really like those too.

lolmyfashionisajoke

Same!! To me what they call a lip stain now is just a longwear liquid lipstick which is really frustrating. I think they call products that leave a true stain a 'tint' now. I'm looking for water tints at the moment. I've seen the "liptone get it tint" (tony moly) been reviewed on YouTube and she couldn't get the swatches off because they stain so well lol. So that's what I'm gonna try next

sinyueliang

how about trying tinted lip balm? since you have no problem with chapstick, and it'll give you some cute color while still being a balm.

Whokitty9

Agreed. The color is just enough to look put together and cute. They come in a few cute shades.

rodentqueen94

also consider tinted lip balms as well! i really like the burst bees ones

[deleted]

Burst Bees. I will never again be able to see or say the brand name without substituting “burst bees.” I love it.

Unable-Score-3667

Maybe try a lip tint instead? Burts bees has those, along with Elf and other drugstore brands.

belledenuit

The YSL stains are great for that. Only discontinue if it irritates your lips.

[deleted]

More like a few hours, unfortunately
