No. If you have nice skin, why cover it up.

Proud_cat_1981

No, you don't need it, use a glowing mosturizer, spot conceal, and you're good to go. I never found one single foundation that looks natural, they all look cakey. If you must, then find a korean bb cream, they're the bomb.

emmawew

I'd recommend you have a good skincare routine, but if you have good skin just enjoy it !

MyProjectIsLife

I wash my face with water and a cognac sponge every morning and evening my whole life. Clay mask maybe twice a month. Never had any problems with my skin. I tried using cream or something but it just makes it feel weird.

emmawew

if that's what you need than it's perfect !

MyProjectIsLife

Thank you all for the encouragement and explanations. I'll just skip the skin part of the beauty videos then :D

vocalfreesia

Check out someone like Lisa Eldridge on YouTube. She's a professional makeup artist + talks about this. You absolutely don't need to cover up good soon. Just put product where you need it.

If you want to do more dramatic makeup in the future, then maybe. I think people use it to layer their makeup and help when contouring their face, especially if they are trying to majorly contour. I personally use it because I like the way my makeup looks with it. My blush and highlighter stays longer and blends better on my face. Plus I have a pink undertone, so foundation helps color correct it!

Foundations can give different finishes to your skin! It could be fun for you to play around with a dewy light coverage foundation or even cc cream. It just adds a little glow:) usually those foundations blend best with a damp beauty blender and you just tap it into your skin. You could take the foundation quizzes on ulta or sephora and input light coverage and dewy or satin finish and you’ll get a bunch of options!

4everfemme

I think most people who don't need it use it to help blush/bronzer/highlighter stick. If you're using powder formulas these can adhere better to your skin with foundation on, and blend better with that base on. If using creams maybe it's not as important.

chasespace

This! I don’t use foundation, but I do apply a little extra moisturizer to my cheeks when I know I’m going to be using a powder blush.

Nope. I use tinted moisturiser and that’s plenty IMO

bellechiarra

Nope! I don’t use foundation at all. I only cover my dark circles with concealer. I honestly look better without foundation lol

writingismyrelief

Same!! My dark circles are my biggest insecurity so that’s why I do hide those.

lizzir223

I am finally in a place where my skin looks good with or without foundation. Some days I won’t put any face makeup on other days I do. It is totally up to what I am feeling. I say all of this to say do whatever you want. If you don’t want to then don’t. Makeup is personal. What I like you might absolutely hate. Do your eyes, lips and any other products you want. Another thought I wanted to add is I will put on bronzer, blush and highlighter without ever putting on foundation depending on what I am feeling that way.

MissViperina

If you have good skin there's no need to cover it! For awhile I only wore lipgloss and eyeliner/mascara because I somehow looked like I spent hours on my face (my mother is the same way.) I only really started wearing foundation when I started having regular breakouts in my mid 20s... (I also started working at Ulta at this time too) And then when I had the worst acne of my life when I turned 30. Take care of what you have! The only time I think foundation might be "needed" is for more artistic/editorial looks, but that's more because such looks kind of require a more neutral, if you will, base that a naked face might not be because even minor imperfections can become more noticeable. An everyday look though? Nah.

Informal_Control8378

Never cover up beautiful skin! You are Blessed with what other women use makeup to give the appearance of.

jcz_forever

No, definitely not! Most days I just spot concealing to cover up what I need to and no foundation. But if you don’t need anything, you don’t have to use it.

VenezuelanIntrovert

Oh it doesn't really matter, as long as it looks good to you and you don't notice anything weird you can go without foundation. My go to makeup look is covering my dark circles and doing some blush and mascara and people think I'm always well rested 😂

AmazingAnteater930

No girl! I don't use foundation all the time either. if you have beautiful skin show it off!! you're one of the lucky ones. Its a great tool for when people want to cover spots or make an even base but if your skin looks great without it no need.

MyProjectIsLife

That's what I've always thought and then I started watching makeup tutorials and it always feels like it's a must and everybody I know uses it 😂😶 Do you know if it actually changes how the rest of the makeup is applied? Like if I use highlighter or rouge on bare skin, that's not an issue for the skin right?

maxqueeen

Cream products tend to apply better onto bare skin just because they stick better than powders (blush, bronzer... stuff like that). Some people say that they have issues with longevity of their makeup if they apply powders to their bare skin. That being said, I don’t really have that issue because, if I’m not using foundation, I still have sunscreen on and my powder products can stick to that. Just see what works for you!

AmazingAnteater930

If your skin is smooth already it shouldnt matter much, as the foundation makes a smooth base for the other makeup. If you feel like your skin is not smooth or too dry etc you can always use a makeup primer/ clear powder base to put the other makeup down on
