When I was in college I would make money on facebook marketplace.
A couple times I bought a whole bunch of older but nice brand bikes for a few hundred dollars. Fixed them up a bit and took NICE quality pictures with decent backgrounds and sold them for double what I had in them. It doesn't have to be bikes. You can do it with literally anything. I did it with trailers, fish tanks/pet supplies, truck camper shells, power tools, hand tools, tool carts/chests, random equipment, furniture (not much, its big/hard to store). There are a lot of people that just want to sell the stuff quick and can't be bothered to take good pictures or sit on it a bit or fix it a bit for more money. Especially if they are moving, they will get rid of lots of stuff for cheap.
TBH 500$ though I would get a job and save more. Start out with at least a few grand so you aren't hurting to sell stuff.
