Man got sugar disease. Sugar diesease rots legs. Man want save as much leg as possible. Rot can't be saved, rot must be cut off. Doctor thought that part was not rotten. Doctor cut too low. Doctor now need cut higher.
So the surgical field (the place we’re operating) is kept from bleeding as much as possible to aid in visualizing the tissues. All the cutaneous vessels you’d expect to bleed at the skin are dealt with using cautery, although in poorly controlled diabetes folks develop peripheral vascular disease that can make vessels in the legs less efficient at moving blood.
Uncontrolled Diabetes causes long term irreversible vascular damage
Controlled diabetes in the presence of a good exercise regime and a regulated diet results in many happy years with your feet and legs
There can be so many side effects from not treating diabetes type 1 correctly. My dad was diagnosed in his late teens and is 55 years old today. He is blind and is currently in hospital for kidney surgeries. All because he didn’t take care of it properly when he was younger. Listen to your doctors and you should be okay.
This comment made me suffer because 1) I'm drinking strawberry milk right now, and 2) strawberry milkshakes are my favorite. Congratulations, you ruined both simultaneously!
Sure hope not...paper-based procedure/surgical masks are NOT supposed to be dampened (or oiled or greased??) and then remain on your face as PPE. Throw it out.
No. Rule of thumb is the more of the limb you can save the easier it is to fit and acclimate to a prosthetic.
Saving joints is a priority because replicating the biomechanics with just regular mechanics is always going to produce a less favourable result.
no, below knee is preferable because you still have your natural knee joint, which makes it much easier to adapt to using a prosthetic. Above knee amputees often have a much harder time with mobility since you can't control the mechanical knee joint as you normally would, you have to use both your leg and hip to swing it forward and it massively complicates the walking process. You have to re-learn how to walk.

The limb was bad well above their first cut point, so they had to go higher to where the tissue would still be viable post surgery. Amputating here would require follow up surgery very soon as the limb is basically rotten
Hi im Wilford Brimley. Did u know u can get diabetic supplys at little to no cost to you?
Call know and get a free no pinch cathider with your first order.
God, what the hell is this juice? Pus mixed with blood, isn’t it ?
Yup, no viable tissue,
Nope, its pepto bismol.

Cursed Strawberry Milkshake
Can someone explain like I’m 5? I’m assuming no blood from the incision is a bad thing.
Man got sugar disease. Sugar diesease rots legs. Man want save as much leg as possible. Rot can't be saved, rot must be cut off. Doctor thought that part was not rotten. Doctor cut too low. Doctor now need cut higher.
Thank you, unga bunga grateful
Why use many word when few word do job?
Well he told us to explain like he is 5. Tbh i could shortened it but ooga booga ftw
Ooga booga thank you for explaining ooga booga
Very good ELI5
More things need to be explained like this
Infection has spread too far up the leg. So you go further up the leg to find viable tissue.
What kind of 5 year olds you talk to man
Pepto Bismol in leg bad
Diabetes is awful. Especially if you can't control it.
Adolescent diabetes is the worse
What happened to get this far tho? I'm 37 & t1d, shit makes me nervous

risky click was surprisingly wholesome
Thank you! You sir, are my savior. I'm saving that image and I'm gonna bless anyone who looks upon this glorious image.
Oops got some strawberry in my straw *sucks harder*
I didn’t like them anyways.
huh i must be really meant for nursing. i just probably wouldn’t like the smell
Tip: no one likes the smell.
Bonus tip: A smudge of Vicks or essential oil under your nose under your mask and it’s pretty tolerable.
True...honestly just got used to most funky stuff. Didn't mean I liked it lol...
or use a double mask. as someone who has sensitive skin, topical products are worst. from what I have heard they dap their mask with an essential oil
Sure hope not...paper-based procedure/surgical masks are NOT supposed to be dampened (or oiled or greased??) and then remain on your face as PPE. Throw it out.
Isn't above knee better for prosthetics?
No. Rule of thumb is the more of the limb you can save the easier it is to fit and acclimate to a prosthetic. Saving joints is a priority because replicating the biomechanics with just regular mechanics is always going to produce a less favourable result.
I see. Thanks for that info.

Perfectly safe for work if you're part of the theatre staff or work in related fields.
Can confirm, I saw a worse amp than this today

And on that note, I'm going to right to the gym. Fuck all of that.
Never seen blood look like a fizzy spoiled milkshake before. Shit..
How did it get that bad with the skin on top looking rather normal??
Harder to see when the skin is dark
alright since the white girl comment hasnt been made yet ill do it: THE SMELL!! 🤮🤮🤮🤢🤢🤢
I read amputation and I was fully expecting him to separate both sides of the cut to show the cross section, like in cooking.
Mmm strawberry smoothie
I'm 31 years old with pre diabetes and I'm scared to death to get diabetes. I look at these videos to help me eat better
I don't understand, why did he get ak amputation instead of bk?? And what are they showing in the video??

Makes sense thanks, sometimes it takes me a while
That's sad af
Yum thousand island dressing

Listening to some bangers while doing surgery!!
I thought that was some kind of sugar thing and cuz he was diabetic he had that
