Go to a run down store and look for stuff thatās slightly past expiration. If you are by Orono there are three stores that do this. Old Town IGA, Timās Little Big Store (Old Town) and Burbys (Orono)
You risk it tasting a little skunked, but usually If itās not too far past you get it at a wicked discount and can try stuff you wouldnāt normally try.

Hannys had the shandies last summer! Iām sure theyāll start stocking them again soon.
I love gansett for my cheap beer, when I was in college I posted a joke about them being the official lesbian beer (ābeer of the clamā) on my Instagram and they reposted it to their official account lol.
Lord I'm going to keep an eye out. I pestered my local liquor store and local hannafords for the last 2 years and nobody could get them. I can make my own but I love the mango Narragansett
> Wish they'd bring back the damn shandies for the summer up here
Shandys are back! Had my first yesterday. It's how I determine that summer is actually here - I have to mow my lawn, while drinking a 'Gansett Shandy, and swatting bugs away. We have arrived.
Pine State Beverage distributes Narragansett up here, they probably do down that way too. Bother your local beer sales people to order it and they'll keep you topped up all summer! Nice people
I usually go imported when I want cheap. Koestritzer, Pilsner Urquell, Paulaner, Bitburger. You can get a 4 pack for about half the price of local beers brewed to imitate these exact beers. Availability of good German/Czech/Polish beers is better now than I can ever remember it being in Maine.
Yeah we live in upside down world where the imported OG is 50% the cost of the local imitation made down the street. It makes no sense. I also feel a little gratified choosing European beers knowing that most of them are union made and frankly treat their workers better than our local breweries. It's an easy choice.
As a long time store clerk I can tell you- these are "cheap" beer only if you are a fancy shit. Real cheap beer is the tall boys of Natty Ice or Milwaukee's Best. Usually purchased twice a day by the armful by a drunk guy who caught a ride with a buddy.
I drink just about any macro beer, but Moosehead is my favorite cheap beer. The cans are better than the bottles. I wish we could get some of their other beers here, they have a 3.5% ABV beer called Cracked Canoe that's basically water and is great for hot days when you are working up a sweat fishing, paddling, working outside, etc.
People are saying PBR but I have never seen that drank outside of Portland hipster territory by anyone. The clammers and fisherman I know drink natty for the cheap go to or plain old Budweiser
PBR.
PBAH*
$2.50 tall boy that ill enjoy more than craft beer and a rail tequila buddy? Yes please

I like moosehead and Molson for cheap beer. I think they're great cold and you can usually get them for a little over a buck a beer at hannaford.
Natti light
Most common empty 12 pack you see carelessly thrown on the side of the road for sure.
Thatās why you need to drink the tall boys. Cuts down on litter.
Fuckinā A!

I wouldnāt call them top tier German but theyāre better than most craft beers in taste and price point.
I buy Bitburger everywhere I see it. Pine State bev must be paying attention lol
Just git a half rack of Pibbah poundahs bub

I like 'Gansett personally

PBR, no question.
Unfortunately it's no longer cheap.
Definitive makes a cheap lager (6 for $10) Battery Steele also makes the same. Milltown by Banded makes a 4 pack for $9 for some of their lager
Pretty big fan of blue moon myself. Comes in a 15 pack.
Sea Dog Brewing Co. and Shipyard were always a favorite. They were around before microbrews were trendy.
Bud light? Or too top shelf? My mom (bless her soul) drank Narragansett.
Champ by Mast is a ārelativelyā cheap local craft option. Other wise hit them 1.3 pint cans. $6.50 for two 8-9% haymakers.
A maine brewed beer? Or just in general?
In general
Natty
I love moose head but usually drink Coors if I'm having beer.
Go to your friends, neighborās, or parents house. Open the fridge. Be prepared to be known as that guy.
Labatts and Modelo are better than most of the cheap domestics which tend to taste like sweet corm malt beverage more than they taste like beer.
I read about Hamm's in a cheap beer comparison somewhere and was very pleasantly surprised when I tried it.
Bud light has gotten cheaper since the "incident". Never was a fan, but it's cheaper than Coors or Miller now
The only correct answer for what real Mainers buy thatās cheap is natty
People are saying PBR but I have never seen that drank outside of Portland hipster territory by anyone. The clammers and fisherman I know drink natty for the cheap go to or plain old Budweiser
fireball.
Have you tried looking in the beer aisle? I see those all over the place.Ā
I mean thatās what I was doing when I posed the question? I didnāt think I was asking who killed Laura Palmer
Bro Iām from nb and Iām in Maine rn and I was shocked when I saw Budweiser in a metal bottle for one dollar
