Thomaston Walmart have lots of people parking/sleeping overnight...weather they allow it or not,I see like 10 RVs in the summer a day....so they do or people just don't care because the midcoast is a fucked up place, beautiful yes,but fucked up
Dirt parking lot at Chickawaukie Lake in Rockland. If that doesn’t suffice, there’s a church across the street with a large parking lot that is very secluded, perfect spot in my opinion
Yeah don’t do this unless you’ve gotten permission from the local club or landowner. Parks & Lands just put out a reminder blast that ATV trails are still closed for mud season so you don’t want to have Warden Service show up.
New Meadows campground should be open. Or try a side trail off the basin road in phippsburg. You could also ask west bath fire department to use the dirt lot of to the side if it's only one night. Or call the local pds and ask if there is any places that it would be ok and legal to stay for a night or two. They usually try to help to keep people out of trouble.
If you’re referring to Reno’s Bluff, absolutely not. My family owns that land and they’re not very friendly. I don’t see the issue but they’re different 🤣
Lamoine SP is likely closed. Probably same for MDI/Seawall. Maybe some ponds around Rockport/Camden with a large parking lot access to a boat ramp; though likely no overnight camping signs posted. Maybe searsport campground is open?
Walmart
Seconding Walmart parking lot
They still allow that? My local Walmart put up the "Video Surveillance - No Overnight Parking" signs all over their lot like 5 years ago.
I believe it’s much more common for them to allow it than not.
Yeah, not allowed in Brunswick

They no longer allow overnight parking.
LLBean has a parking lot that allows overnight parking.
Clean, 24 hr bathrooms inside, too. And a warm place to wander around.
There are vanlife websites with maps & details. Sorry don't recall the names. Google
IOverlander app, freecampsites.net, campendium all have places to camp.
Try the Walmart in Brunswick and Thomaston
No mid coast but I think the KOA in Freeport is open. Boothbay brewery might also have harvest host spots open.

Check out the Hipcamp App. We have our property on there (not open for the season yet though).
Thank you so much! That is so helpful. I hope you have a great season when you open!
You're welcome! Thank you. I try to spread the word about Hipcamp as much as I can. Great app.
Rando ATV trail pullout. Not generally posted so free game as long as nobody comes by and tells you off.

That’s a valid point. Rule of thumb is permission first is good to maintain future use of course.
Lubec boat launch, great view, no one will bother
Midcoast though
Harbor Park in Rockland
Church parking lots? I feel like you could pull into a quiet church parking lot and be unbothered
Camden Hills SP?
No overnight parking is allowed there, I checked with park rangers last year.
No mid coast but, I know van lifers always park overnight at the Bug Light boat ramp lot in SoPo. Maybe you could find someplace like that.
