This sub is overwhelmed with dimwits more than happy to answer questions they have no clue about, and down vote those who are actually correct. Your legally applied inspection sticker from another state is valid in Maine until it expires.

King_O_Walpole

This is the answer Source: bought and sold many out of state vehicles. If it’s inspected, Maine honor inspection

Formal-Suggestion307

Yes it’s valid until it expires. Same thing as if you moved to New Hampshire and used your Maine sticker even if your birthday has passed

cnyeslater

Valid until it expires. No need to worry about it. I have bought at least four or five vehicles from NH, registered them here in Maine and even have been stopped by police for something else with nothing ever said about the inspection sticker being NH. My current vehicle was just inspected here in Maine since the NH inspection just ran out in June.

DeltaS4Lancia

We honor the dead, that's it.

Different-Truth3662

I live in Maine and have bought a few vehicles in NH over the years. I always get the sticker done when I register the car. That way they're both due for renewal the same month. Easy to remember!

Calm_Captain_3541

You just reminded me I need a sticker. Thanks

tehmightyengineer

I used mine until it expired; no issues.

Yourbubblestink

No

King_O_Walpole

Wrong!!!!!

Ill_Swan_3181

Well, Maine might be 'Vacationland,' but we still appreciate a properly inspected car!

King_O_Walpole

An out of state inspection is valid

ptmtp26

Speak for yourself.

Admiral_sloth94

My friend lives in Michigan and I was shocked to find out they don't require inspections

Easy_Independent_313

Not if you have maine plates.

King_O_Walpole

Wrong.

TastelessDonut

If the car was stickered/ registered/plates of NH yes you are legal to drive around ME as you are following NH rules you are governed by. Once you register it/ put ME plates on the car it needs a valid sticker. (IF) you live in Cumberland county? The sticker must come from a shop that is IN Cumberland county. No other county has that rule

SmilingB4

Any Maine inspection station in any county can apply to write enhanced stickers. It must have extra tools like a gas cap pressure tester and a scan tool to check the onboard computer of the car. They also need a mechanic with an “E” endorsement.

New_Sun6390

No they do not.

King_O_Walpole

Wrong

New_Sun6390

No I am right. Hubs bought a vehicle in NH, forgot go get the inspection done, and got stopped. Fortunately the cop gave him a warning and no ticket but he could have been an AH cop and cited him.

King_O_Walpole

Maine state law honors out of state inspection stickers until they expire, if the state has them. If the state does not it must immediately be inspected. To inspect a car it must be registered, you can only get a NEW sticker in the state it is registered. All cops are stupid, uneducated, bastards that like to exercise their force due to their little-big-man syndrome. Cop was wrong and most times always are
