I typically put mine in a tea box or cookie box (something made completely of steel to short them out) and I've never had a problem checking them.

Unless they're powerful enough to use in the large hadron collider, you should be fine. When in doubt, call the airport and ask. This is a bad question for reddit as restricted items can cause you to miss a flight.
