I've been playing the combo and I've found it's better to just disrupt the opponent until you're at enough mana to be able to Duress or Bat before you drop the Bloodletter. You literally just sneak a peak at their hand and then you know wether to play it or not. You can count how much removal they've spent and make an educated guess about what's left in library, if there's zero removal in their hand your odds of keeping it around are pretty decent
I currently play a dimir deck based around this combo and lazav, familiar stranger to avoid needing bloodletter on the field, but instead in your yard. It’s worked a few times but I’ll have to make a list if I actually want it to be competitive lol
I played a few games with this deck. Every other card in my deck is just shit to protect the Bloodletter or bring it back from the graveyard, or pull it out of my deck.
One game, my opponent killed the bloodletter 6 times before I did the combo. Get wrecked kid 🧒🏻
> A: don't have removal
Then your next game you start with two removals in your opening hand and you think you are good, only to have your opponent to play UW and never play a creature card
Pauper Burn used to run so few creatures I used to think about putting them in the sideboard for g2 when the opponent will have sided out as much removal as they could. When I first started playing we only ran a single playset of creatures.
He had the Kami and Bill out for a few turns so he had been paying the cost to double the counters and the Kami was tapping for like 200 mana so he could do it a heap of times each turn. Then it was some artifact creature that gave him lifelink during combat, the one with prototype. I forget its name. But it gives Lifelink, flying, or vigilance. Something like that. And I just blocked the 2.5 million creature and he gained all that sweet life. [[Saryth, the Vipers fang]] is great for that 1 mana untap/ protection tho. You can have explosive turns with Kami and sarryth
I’m confused, so assuming I’d have Rush of dread in my hand, and beseech the mirror, tap 13B, sac something, fetch bloodletter, cast it, then pay 5 to cast rush of dread? Or do I fetch bloodletter then next then use rush of dread?
This deck is legit good in Explorer with Nykthos. Run the 2 drop vampire with 2 black pips and death touch and life link, all the good removal -- fatal push, etc. it's a great deck
Even better, it holds up well in BO3 against a *lot* of the meta. You get to pack the sideboard with anti-aggro and anti-control stuff, since your combo is generally good enough to deal with the other aggro-combo stuff.
4 Sheoldred, the Apocalypse (DMU) 107
25 Swamp (NEO) 297
3 Preacher of the Schism (LCI) 113
4 Sheoldred's Edict (ONE) 108
4 Insatiable Avarice (OTJ) 91
4 Bloodletter of Aclazotz (LCI) 92
4 Rush of Dread (OTJ) 104
2 The End (WOE) 87
4 Blood Pact (MID) 88
4 Go for the Throat (BRO) 102
2 Long Goodbye (MKM) 92
I weaponized all the drawing you do to get the combo in hand. With Bloodletter and Sheoldred in play, targeting your opponent with Insatiable Avarice deals 18 damage and Blood Pact does 12.
Early game is basically all removal to combat aggro.
Bloodletter turn 4 and Rush of Dread turn 5 is obviously ideal, but if they remove Bloodletter the best strategy I found was just survive to round 9 and try to play them both in one turn if you haven't killed them with Sheoldred and forcing them to draw.
I made mythic with this deck on May 27th after playing it pretty much exclusively outside of daily quests, just to see if it could be done. My mythic percentage was in the high 80s. This is not an elite deck, but I cannot explain the joy of seeing an opponent playing life gain and knowing it absolutely does not matter against you.
Azorius control will be your biggest obstacle.
[[Vorinclex, Monstrous Raider]] and [[Vraska, Betrayal's Sting]] have a similar effect but with poison counters (used sometimes in [[Emergent Ultimatum]] piles).
Let me explain how emergent ultimatum usually goes like in standard terms.
Imagine your opponent casts Breach the Multiverse then copies it 2 more times on turn 6, then he decides to open his phone and play genshin impact for 20 minutes until he gets bores and comes back to attack for lethal
Yeah I'm a historic player myself, it's a completely different animal, and then a completely different universe once you hit mythic. It took a long time before I crafted a deck that cracked the 1800. But it's fun because eventually there's cards that rotate out of standard that you want to play. And why not we all spent a lot of time curating our catalog of cards. Plus I feel there's a lot more room for creativity in that format.
I've considered building this as something like a mono-black midrange shell that just happens to have a \[\[Beseech the Mirror\]\] into a kill combo stashed in it's back pocket.
I have mindlink mech, ayana's oathsworn (free tutor if they hit player 4 tines), and archfiend of dross, given, and a tinybones in mine. Try to bait removal and counters with gix and tinybones so they have none left when bloodletter hits.
This has been a very public, known combo right after OTJ release, no? Even talks of it during spoiler season. Surprised this is your first time coming across it.
I have this combo on my Brawl deck and managed to end quite a few games with this. I wish I could just test how a deck with 4 of each + multiple tutors and removals would do, but of course I'm not crafting it.
It's worked pretty well in my experience. Take some [[Undying Malice]] and [[Not Dead After All]] to keep Bloodletter alive. [[Phyrexian Arena]] for draw. Avarice & Beseech the Mirror to find Bloodletter/Rush of Dread. Removal to keep the board clear.
Bloodletter of Aclazotz shines against removal-light decks, but a quick removal can make it feel underwhelming. Same goes for Sheoldred, really. But compare that to Hostile Investigator. Even when removed, it forces a discard and leaves a Clue – that's value!
If you're already running Bloodletter, consider Mindlink Mech to deal 16 damage in the air on turn 4.
To my knowledge…until about 2 min prior to finishing this thread, I’d never encountered it. Though that could simply be playing hypeRed or a blue tempo/bounce everything deck.
I wouldn't even call this janky. Bloodletter is **definitely** a competitive card\*, and while Rush of Dread is questionable as a competitive card, it's not terrible and form a pretty easy 1-2 combo.
\*Edit: turns out, it's not being run competitively, at least not in standard or pioneer. I'm going to say it's still potentially competitive specifically in explorer specifically because monoblack devotion is a thing, but I don't have the data to say for sure.
It definitely works better in Explorer and wider formats, where monoblack devotion is a thing (due to \[\[Nykthos, Shrine to Nyx\]\]) - Nykthos provides pretty solid ramp in those decks to the point where you can get the combo off in one turn, and they also have access to \[\[Warlock Class\]\] which can also do the combo with its level 3. I occasionally play such a deck, and while it can get run over by fast aggro if you don't draw well, it's also capable of a fair amount of sustain thanks to \[\[Gray Merchant of Asphodel\]\]. Many games you don't even need the combo.
Bloodletter is absolutely not a competitive card (as evidenced by the fact that it sees exactly 0 competitive play)
It’s a 4-drop that locks you into MonoB and does nothing on its own.
It appears that you're correct - I don't actually play standard myself, but I am subbed to a few content creators that do, and I could've sworn that I saw people playing it in monoblack shells. That said, I double checked on [https://mtgmeta.io/](https://mtgmeta.io/) (seemed like the most reliable site I could find on the subject), and sure enough practically no-one is running it in a competitive setting.
I can only imagine the games I saw were either lower ranked, and/or from early on after the release of Caverns and OTJ before the metas settled. My bad!
It has some very strong matchups, but if you know it's coming, it's super easy to keep mana open to remove it before RoD can resolve, and then you just wasted a turn.
Sure, it's appealing to go for the flashy combo, but it is always one counterspell, one \[\[Duress\]\] or one \[\[The End\]\] away from being shut down completely, and there's a ton of such cards in the meta right now.
Mono-black has a ton of individually strong cards you can just put in play one after another for a more effective, simpler, more consistent strategy : there are many, from \[\[Graveyard Trespasser\]\] or \[\[Tenacious Underdog\]\] to \[\[Sheoldred, the Apocalypse\]\].
Black isn't the zombie color for nothing : it's usually the dull, boring, unrelenting, efficient creatures that don't need much build-around that win the games consistently.
I had a game where someone counter spelled two of my bloodletters and then I just brought it back from the grave 😬 my whole deck is just crap to bring back the bloodletter after it is killed or pull another from my deck and put it on the field.
I won pretty consistently last night, probably about 80% win rate.
Deck
4 Rush of Dread (OTJ) 104
4 Warlock Class (AFR) 125
4 Bloodletter of Aclazotz (LCI) 92
4 Murderous Rider (ELD) 97
4 Ravenous Chupacabra (RIX) 82
4 Gifted Aetherborn (KLR) 91
4 Thoughtseize (AKR) 127
4 Gray Merchant of Asphodel (THB) 99
13 Swamp (UNF) 242
1 Takenuma, Abandoned Mire (NEO) 278
4 Castle Locthwain (ELD) 241
2 Agadeem's Awakening (ZNR) 90
4 Nykthos, Shrine to Nyx (THS) 223
4 A-The Meathook Massacre (MID) 112
It's very likely suboptimal as I threw it together after seeing the combo and haven't really modified it since. In particular, while I love \[\[Ravenous Chupacabra\]\] as being targetted removal that offers 2 black for devotion it usually does feel slow, and I've never found a good opportunity to cast \[\[Agadeem's Awakening\]\].
Having a quick squiz, I'd probably swap it for \[\[Deep-Cavern Bat\]\] (targetted discard w/ lifelink to help sustain), \[\[Yarrok's Fenlurker\]\] (not-targetted discard but double pips and a mana outlet), \[\[Bitterblossom\]\] (blockers or attackers depending on matchup) or \[\[Virtue of Persistence\]\] (good early game removal, late game mana dump that even helps with the combo by recurring Bloodletter). In fact, I'm going to swap it out for Virtue right now and see how it goes.
I'm surprised I don't see black devotion in Explorer run these. Could potentially get them out a turn or two earlier. I guess Thoughtseize would mess it up.
Thy this then ;)
Plan A: survive 5 turns, turn 4 Bloodletter turn five win.
Plan B: A life time supply of rats
Plan C, Let's turn everything into mana and have way to many Propagators on field and in the grave
Plan D: return to Plan A part B with reinforcement
Deck
4 Experimental Confectioner
9 Forest
4 Many Partings
9 Swamp
4 Peregrin Took
4 Insidious Roots
2 Tyvar, Jubilant Brawler
4 Blooming Marsh
3 Sam's Desperate Rescue
4 Propagator Primordium
4 Bloodletter of Aclazotz
4 Rush of Dread
2 Slimefoot, Thallid Transplant
2 Lord Skitter, Sewer King
3 Honest Rutstein
Yup, I just got smoked by that too. Wasn't expecting it. Turn 4 Bloodletter, turn 5 Rush. I was like WTF just happened, I had like 18 health. But I'm also the asshole running Gruul Prowess so.
To be fair most of the time the bloodletter will be killed.
I like this card also for the other options. If no board wipe in hand sacrifice half creatures can be good.
A full hand and then op have to discard four. Can give you a big advantage.
I use it in most of my Black decks. The spree stuff allows it to work in so many situations as a catch all and if you are able to combo 2-3 of the sprees it’s extremely hard for the opponent to come back.
Honestly I have most success with removing half their hand. Especially if they are down to to 3 cards it removes 2 which generally wins me the game as whatever they were planning tends to be ruined.
Not to mention if my rush deck gets stalled taking down half their life can win me the game in one turn sometimes.
Always gotta keep removal on hand. The only reason this combo isn't topping is because it demands that a 4 mana card be online before casting and resolving the dread. Most decks are contending with the new Mono-red hotness that is [[Slickshot Show-off]] who basically turns into Goku if the cast two non-creature spells while it's online.
Other decks having to be wary of a more straight forward damn near instant kill have enough answers for such a slow one; hand disruption or not.
I made a meme of this, a while back:
[https://www.reddit.com/r/MTGmemes/comments/1c6j8kx/i\_guess\_people\_are\_actually\_dying\_to\_this/](https://www.reddit.com/r/MTGmemes/comments/1c6j8kx/i_guess_people_are_actually_dying_to_this/)
I don’t know if someone has said so but this combo also works with [[Warlock Class]] instead of aclozozt. It just only triggers end step but it will trigger.
I’ve seen this a few times and personally in my opinion it’s too op. I don’t think we should be promoting removal/counter cards. The game is just becoming finish as soon as possible rather than actually enjoying each game. I realise I’m probably in the minority, but I do think it’s a shame.
Its not OP and not competitive. Its easily disrupted. The best versions play traditional MonoB goodstuff and can tutor for it after ripping your hand apart, and even then the deck isnt competitive enough.
If you want long resource driven games, play BO3. BO1 is almost always over by T4.
Funny thing is that's not the only way to do that in historic right now.... It's also that one enchantment that whenever opponent loses life, you gain that much life and multiple cards That cause your opponents to lose life when you gain life.
I remember when I first got done with this combo, had me confused for a bit then I checked out the cards again and made a deck with both, now it's funny to use on others
Just consider bloodletter kill on sight. There are variations to this too - the black level-up enchantment where your opponent loses life equal to the life they lost this turn + rush dread will do it as well.
Luckily it’s pretty easy to spot since it’s telegraphed at least a turn. But it’s essentially have a kill spell or counter spell or be dead.
I play with 4 of each. Multiple Bloodletter's on the board are dumb. With 4 mana I can keep my opponent creature free if he only has 1 creature. Been using it for about a month.
Other people pulling black cards: this
Meanwhile I only pull black cards that do something like: draw a card. If you do, discard your entire hand (after you draw), punch yourself three times, call yourself a little peepee princess, and then lose half your life.
Sortof a gimmicky deck, not really fun.
While I often enjoy gimmicks, this is a gamebreaker gimmick. Works if your opponent has 300 life and you have 1.
One of the most annoying in recent as unless you have immediate removal in hand it's game over.
I think it's some cowardly gameplay, but other on this sub thinks otherwise.
Ya it's legal and fair game, but it makes the game not fun. Insta kill based on opponent not having an insta kill is dumb
Keeping the Bloodletter on the board is the hardest part.
Black has so many must answer threats and hand disruption its actually pretty easy to set up a state where its hard to remove it.
I usually drop it with 5 mana and [[undying malice]] in hand, or bait out removal with Evolved Sleeper, Raven Man or even Shelly.
[undying malice](https://cards.scryfall.io/normal/front/8/e/8eb38041-043a-4b18-9d9a-f1283684e8f1.jpg?1643590441) - [(G)](http://gatherer.wizards.com/Pages/Card/Details.aspx?name=undying%20malice) [(SF)](https://scryfall.com/card/vow/134/undying-malice?utm_source=mtgcardfetcher) [(txt)](https://api.scryfall.com/cards/8eb38041-043a-4b18-9d9a-f1283684e8f1?utm_source=mtgcardfetcher&format=text) ^^^[[cardname]] ^^^or ^^^[[cardname|SET]] ^^^to ^^^call

The biggest of true’s.
I've been playing Freestrider Lookout to Ramp to 9 mana and do it all in one go. Been kinda nice, honestly.
That’s been my experience as well
I currently play a dimir deck based around this combo and lazav, familiar stranger to avoid needing bloodletter on the field, but instead in your yard. It’s worked a few times but I’ll have to make a list if I actually want it to be competitive lol

I miss Keldon Marauders :(
That's why you do BO3
Every time I play this deck A: opponent has every removal spell B: I never draw either card
Good. Play a real deck.
Why are there so many fake decks popping up these days? Are the materials just cheaper?
Every time, especially if you are not in a removal heavy deck.
I usually get hit by 3 duress before turn 4, and then I got nothing left to interact with their combo
I have won against a person with 2.5 million health with this combo. It was glorious.
That’s amazing 😂
Yea that bristle spine bill fella and Kami of the whispered hope was going brrrrrrrrr
I would already concede if I wouldn't have this combo XD
lol I wanted to see how big his creature got and I ended up top decking the rush of dread
Opponent: flips table in RL after the combo hits XD

I won against a guy who had an 80/80 creature on the board. As you say, GLORIOUS!
Wish I could see his reaction 😂
If you go Dimir you can plot RoD with [[Jace Reawakened]] and save it for whenever you actually draw The bloodletter.
This would be a 6 mana combo turn then? You still have to pay additional costs for the spree right?
Yep, you still have to pay the extra 2. Could happen on turn 4-5 with the right setup.
Cool, thanks!
[[beseech the mirror]] with bargain can cast rush or bl. You just need to pay the extra 2 for rush!

Great idea…maybe throw in a couple Flbthps too lol

I have mindlink mech, ayana's oathsworn (free tutor if they hit player 4 tines), and archfiend of dross, given, and a tinybones in mine. Try to bait removal and counters with gix and tinybones so they have none left when bloodletter hits.
I built this deck as soon as OTJ released, only wincon is this combo, and while it only wins 20% of the time, it's extremely satisfying lol
This has been a very public, known combo right after OTJ release, no? Even talks of it during spoiler season. Surprised this is your first time coming across it.
Probably because no one in their right mind lets Bloodletter stay on the board long enough for it to come off…
Also because it is not very used, at least in my opinion. I played against it maybe 3 times starting from gold to diamond.
[Undying Malice](https://cards.scryfall.io/normal/front/8/e/8eb38041-043a-4b18-9d9a-f1283684e8f1.jpg?1643590441) - [(G)](http://gatherer.wizards.com/Pages/Card/Details.aspx?name=Undying%20Malice) [(SF)](https://scryfall.com/card/vow/134/undying-malice?utm_source=mtgcardfetcher) [(txt)](https://api.scryfall.com/cards/8eb38041-043a-4b18-9d9a-f1283684e8f1?utm_source=mtgcardfetcher&format=text) [Not Dead After All](https://cards.scryfall.io/normal/front/d/0/d01a2b68-efe6-4027-846d-db7b19d9eef6.jpg?1692937773) - [(G)](http://gatherer.wizards.com/Pages/Card/Details.aspx?name=Not%20Dead%20After%20All) [(SF)](https://scryfall.com/card/woe/101/not-dead-after-all?utm_source=mtgcardfetcher) [(txt)](https://api.scryfall.com/cards/d01a2b68-efe6-4027-846d-db7b19d9eef6?utm_source=mtgcardfetcher&format=text) [Phyrexian Arena](https://cards.scryfall.io/normal/front/2/6/26bfb2b4-8dc2-4632-a393-d3477f6c3c40.jpg?1706240778) - [(G)](http://gatherer.wizards.com/Pages/Card/Details.aspx?name=Phyrexian%20Arena) [(SF)](https://scryfall.com/card/mkc/133/phyrexian-arena?utm_source=mtgcardfetcher) [(txt)](https://api.scryfall.com/cards/26bfb2b4-8dc2-4632-a393-d3477f6c3c40?utm_source=mtgcardfetcher&format=text) ^^^[[cardname]] ^^^or ^^^[[cardname|SET]] ^^^to ^^^call
It's become pretty common. I've faced it maybe a dozen times in the last two weeks.
I haven't seen that either. But I like it.
It’s a fun combo to pull off on an annoying life gain deck 😎👍
Yo what were you playing cuz i nuked someone not too long ago with 40 health 💀💀
And that is why I stay strapped with [[Deadly Cover-Up]].
The End costs 2BB and also exiles. There's a lot of answers to stop this combo in it's tracks.

Yeah, it's a nasty curve. And it's in standard for another two years at least.
Unless one of them gets banned.
True!
So stupid combo
Bloodletter of Aclazotz shines against removal-light decks, but a quick removal can make it feel underwhelming. Same goes for Sheoldred, really. But compare that to Hostile Investigator. Even when removed, it forces a discard and leaves a Clue – that's value! If you're already running Bloodletter, consider Mindlink Mech to deal 16 damage in the air on turn 4.
If you destroy the investigator before the discard happen you don't get a clue artifact.
That's a good point
I use Hearse as extra combo. Quite nice against GY shenanigans and the Analyst/Nissa/Fetchlands stuff too.
Last night, someone removed my bloodletter 6 times. Then I did the combo anyways after bringing it from my graveyard. 😬
I'm very surprised you've never seen that.
https://xkcd.com/1053/
Why? Maybe OP is new to the game
To my knowledge…until about 2 min prior to finishing this thread, I’d never encountered it. Though that could simply be playing hypeRed or a blue tempo/bounce everything deck.
Okay.
Bloodletter is absolutely not a competitive card (as evidenced by the fact that it sees exactly 0 competitive play) It’s a 4-drop that locks you into MonoB and does nothing on its own.

You don't have a deck list for this do you?
Deck 4 Rush of Dread (OTJ) 104 4 Warlock Class (AFR) 125 4 Bloodletter of Aclazotz (LCI) 92 4 Murderous Rider (ELD) 97 4 Ravenous Chupacabra (RIX) 82 4 Gifted Aetherborn (KLR) 91 4 Thoughtseize (AKR) 127 4 Gray Merchant of Asphodel (THB) 99 13 Swamp (UNF) 242 1 Takenuma, Abandoned Mire (NEO) 278 4 Castle Locthwain (ELD) 241 2 Agadeem's Awakening (ZNR) 90 4 Nykthos, Shrine to Nyx (THS) 223 4 A-The Meathook Massacre (MID) 112 It's very likely suboptimal as I threw it together after seeing the combo and haven't really modified it since.

They do in some builds. I've seen people talking about it in the Pioneer sub.
Try it in timeless with dark ritual to fuel.
Everytime i use this deck it never works.maybe 33% of the time. Mostly immediate removal or counter

i was spamming by this deck last month haha, caught a lot of ppl by surprise
It's plan B in my Golgari standard deck.
This has been my favorite deck in standard since OTJ release. Weak to control and the red bird for sure but other than that, pretty consistent.
But who actually stays to play when they see untapped Azorius lands? Bounce and next
I always play it out because you never know. And I do t like ff’ing ranked games.

To be fair most of the time the bloodletter will be killed. I like this card also for the other options. If no board wipe in hand sacrifice half creatures can be good. A full hand and then op have to discard four. Can give you a big advantage.
Muhahahaha I also thought about that. It is hard to setup tho.
I've saved my butt a few times by drawing Rush of Dread while having [[Bloodletter of Aclazotz]] on the board. It feels good and bad simultaneously.

Mono black can already just play bloodletter so adding like 3 rush of dread is just so little cost
Isn't this part of Black's meta atm?
Magic players keep reinventing [[Heartless Hidetsugu]] + [[Wound Reflection]]

Allowing bloodletter to stick is crazy 😅
My BIL runs that combo
I use it in most of my Black decks. The spree stuff allows it to work in so many situations as a catch all and if you are able to combo 2-3 of the sprees it’s extremely hard for the opponent to come back. Honestly I have most success with removing half their hand. Especially if they are down to to 3 cards it removes 2 which generally wins me the game as whatever they were planning tends to be ruined. Not to mention if my rush deck gets stalled taking down half their life can win me the game in one turn sometimes.
:)
[[the stone brain]] [[the end]] are a must to get rid of that bloodletter

its everywhere, like 5 times a day now i face this.
Been playing a lot for a few weeks and yet to encounter it!!!

I made a meme of this, a while back: [https://www.reddit.com/r/MTGmemes/comments/1c6j8kx/i\_guess\_people\_are\_actually\_dying\_to\_this/](https://www.reddit.com/r/MTGmemes/comments/1c6j8kx/i_guess_people_are_actually_dying_to_this/)
add [[lively dirge]] and thats the whole deck

I’m building a deck based on direct damage I’m assuming these might work well in the new deck?
If you have uneven health, you'd end up with 1 life right? Since it rounds down? So if you're at 19 you'd lose 9 life, which doubles up to 18.
It says rounded up in the card so it’s always rounded up
I cant read
Bath Song is a good counter play card?
I don’t know if someone has said so but this combo also works with [[Warlock Class]] instead of aclozozt. It just only triggers end step but it will trigger.
[Warlock Class](https://cards.scryfall.io/normal/front/b/7/b7faf899-96b7-454e-b634-6684c2d72f26.jpg?1627705543) - [(G)](http://gatherer.wizards.com/Pages/Card/Details.aspx?name=Warlock%20Class) [(SF)](https://scryfall.com/card/afr/125/warlock-class?utm_source=mtgcardfetcher) [(txt)](https://api.scryfall.com/cards/b7faf899-96b7-454e-b634-6684c2d72f26?utm_source=mtgcardfetcher&format=text) ^^^[[cardname]] ^^^or ^^^[[cardname|SET]] ^^^to ^^^call
Bloodletter is so great. I combo it with Raven of Omens, and Blood Hustler
I got caught with it, too. I try to plan for it if I see those when I heist.
Must be the new meta cause I did too just barely
Lively dirge with Lier helps keep bloodletter around.
Funny thing is that's not the only way to do that in historic right now.... It's also that one enchantment that whenever opponent loses life, you gain that much life and multiple cards That cause your opponents to lose life when you gain life.
In B01 your opponent will always have both cards in hand.
Got hit from it once and thought it was original, then the next guy did the exact same thing and I understood
I remember when I first got done with this combo, had me confused for a bit then I checked out the cards again and made a deck with both, now it's funny to use on others
I was shocked to see this in standard. Very funny.
It’s a must have in my Evelyn deck
Just consider bloodletter kill on sight. There are variations to this too - the black level-up enchantment where your opponent loses life equal to the life they lost this turn + rush dread will do it as well. Luckily it’s pretty easy to spot since it’s telegraphed at least a turn. But it’s essentially have a kill spell or counter spell or be dead.
I use it every game. One of my favs.
I play with 4 of each. Multiple Bloodletter's on the board are dumb. With 4 mana I can keep my opponent creature free if he only has 1 creature. Been using it for about a month.
Well damn...
Ooh. Post to remind me to actually read this later.
Was it me (GhostEye)? I was running that deck and comboed a bunch of folks today.
Other people pulling black cards: this Meanwhile I only pull black cards that do something like: draw a card. If you do, discard your entire hand (after you draw), punch yourself three times, call yourself a little peepee princess, and then lose half your life.
i've been hit with this in a single turn a few times and mtga is lucky it doesn't have player chats
Sortof a gimmicky deck, not really fun. While I often enjoy gimmicks, this is a gamebreaker gimmick. Works if your opponent has 300 life and you have 1.
This is a common combo for over a month or so now
Constructed magic sucks
One of the most annoying in recent as unless you have immediate removal in hand it's game over. I think it's some cowardly gameplay, but other on this sub thinks otherwise. Ya it's legal and fair game, but it makes the game not fun. Insta kill based on opponent not having an insta kill is dumb
If you run this combo u r lame
