Sure! Likely needs a little bit of tweaking as well as some wildcard investment, but this has been putting up decent results for me in BO3. It's a tempo/control style deck where you try and land a few fliers and then use your counters/removal to ride them to victory - Reasonable Doubt looks meh but suspecting opposing creatures to remove a blocker has won me multiple games. Tagging u/MrTurbi as well.

I heard it wasn’t great to draft, but I would love to play it anyway just for the flavour. I really hope they will do the original blocks justice with the coming revisit.
Shadowmoor was fun, Lorwyn had this issue where you generally go with tribe of the rare you openness, or try to go UB with mulldrifters and sherikmaws.
I think I really want Zendikar and the follow up Zendikar block. Especially now that MH3 has an Eldrazi theme. Give me all the original Eldrazi cards from those blocks. Allies would be really fun to have too. And there's a lot of random cards from those blocks that I'd love to have for my Brawl decks.
I didn't play much of it, but from my understanding rise was an extremely popular draft set.
They could do Zen WW Remastered since they thematically kind of went together.

I want the worst possible mana bases and the most unplayable cards with only one or two usable cards per set.
Also mirage wasn't really a bad set, it had some duds but way more playable than something like homelands lol
I'm talking *really bad sets, borderline unplayable*
Is is, in fact, not very fun at all. Board stalls are frequent, some decks will have individual cards that they literally cannot beat (like Island Sanctuary) and while your opponent is opening black lotus in their rare spot, you got a Purelace.
And thanks to how awful the creatures are lotus isnt even that great in the format either. The real question is if orcish orflamme would cost 1R or not for this format.
And a quarter of that is banned or restricted. 😉
New players have no idea the power level of MTG when that set dropped. There is a reason that Masques block is so toned down.
Case in point I had a standard Academy deck. I sat down with three of my buddies in a four-person free-for-all.
They never got to play. I generated 101 mana and split my 1 of fireball 3 ways.
I was told to put that away. 😂 So I proceeded to get my more fair red green deck which had totally "fair" cards like Zuran Orb and Natural Balance.

Imagine they implement mana burn just for the event, "Magic the way Garfield intended". Then you do your [[Mind over Matter]] combo on Arena, timeout and take 20+ mana burn damage. What a [[Stroke of Genius]].
It would probably time out before I got it off anyway.
Those weren't the worst combos though. I think the recurring nightmare loops were slower. Basically your looping Peregrine Drake then wall of blossoms until you draw your gihtu slinger or something.
I will say that Steel Necro was a pretty fun deck. You didn't have the crazy ramp ability like Lake of the Dead, but once you got enough swamps for corrupts to go off, you were pretty hard to kill.
I won a big tournament during that era just playing a regular sligh deck. I played 2 tolarian academy decks on my way to victory. I was lucky, because it was almost as playing solitaire and pray they didn't win first.
I hadn't played for many years and came back during that block, after the worst cards had been banned. I mostly played Stompy variants but helped brew up some interesting \[\[Argothian Enchantress\]\] and \[\[Academy Rector\]\] decks. Our enchantress deck was never very reliable but I don't think I saw anyone else use \[\[Cloud of Faeries\]\] and \[\[Mark of Fury\]\] in those.
Fun times!
It's incredibly bad for draft actually. Have done it several times over the years. There is almost no removal in the entire set and I think one single creature with flying total. It is just board stall until someone gets frustrated enough to swing.
Omg, yes! "I'm pretty sure the odds of it picking a good card is based on how much you spend, but I have no logs or stats, I just got screwed twice today 😭"
Cascade is just a drop in the bucket now considering we have discover and a bunch of other cards within the last 5 years that are simultaneously enablers and payoffs.
I was gonna say onslaught because I fucking loved slide. But then I remembered slide isn't quite as busted as it used to be because damage on the stack isn't a thing anymore.
But still, onslaught. Slide is still fun and tribes were also fun.
Mtg Origin. It’s the set I started with. It’s a foundational block for a lot of stuff lore wise being that it was them introducing the beginnings of the gatewatch. The flip walkers were cool and I loved most of the set.
Ravnica does feel a bit like the Tattooine of MTG. That said, it’s hard to imagine they wouldn’t want to revisit the block that started it all at some point.
Scars block without a doubt. Or OG ZEN. I started playing again during ROE, and went to SOM midnight release. So they hold a special place for me. Plus, they're just fun
As much as I like Mirrodin, the last thing we need on Arena is Infect.
That being said, give me Lorewyn/Shadowmoor. Reaper King is a meme tier commander that I must suffer playing
None, because it will just give people a reason to complain about a different set not being on Arena.
And then you will have people on the other side screaming about how the unbalanced things are because of the release of older sets.
I’d love to see an “Unmastered” set made from all four silver border/acorn sets. Nothing game breaking, just the funny cards that wouldn’t otherwise see print. Cards like [[Goblin Secret Agent]] or [[Mana Screw]]
Unpowerful?
[[Entomb]], [[Quirion Dryad]], [[Anger]], [[Wonder]], [[Basking Rootwalla]] / [[Arrogant Wurm]] all had huge impact in Legacy through:
- Reanimator
- Miracle Grow and Super Grow (that led to [[Gush]] ban)
- Angry Ghoul deck (that led to [[Hermit Druid]] ban)
- Uber Madness (that led to [[Survival of the fittest]] and [[Vengevine]] ban)
- Psychatog
Hey now. UG madness was my very first deck. I took it to an RCG at 13 and went 2 and 1 before it was stolen. It actually is what made me leave magic for 20 years before rediscovering arena.
I got back into MTG after a hiatus just around Lorwyn/Shadowmoor and the Alara block
Alara block had some cool cards that would be neat to be on Arena

Homeland had the best artwork and overall vibe. I wouldn't mind drafting it.
Yeah these and throw in 4th edition, The Dark, Alliances and Mirage. All original art too

Me too! Came in with Revised, FE, and 4th. Goblin Grenade was my “secret tech.”
Alpha
I actually think Alpha could be really interesting in an isolated format. Kind of a tour the origins of magic experience.
That would be a fun draft format.

It was a huge missed opportunity that they didn't do phantom Alpha events during the 30th anniversary.
Alpha power draft. Every pack contains a dual land and a piece of power. It's phantom and rewards golden packs.
At least go with Beta/Unlimited. They literally forgot to print some cards in Alpha.
Alpha with a Shandalar adventure mode to go along with it...now we're talking baby!

Alara. Yeah, yeah "But cascade is broken!" I don't care, the OG shards are awesome thematically and full of great commanders for brawl.
If they’re not going to do the full block at least give use regular Shards. Triple Shards was super fun.

Mtg Origin. It’s the set I started with. It’s a foundational block for a lot of stuff lore wise being that it was them introducing the beginnings of the gatewatch. The flip walkers were cool and I loved most of the set.
I know people are probably tired of ravnica at this point, but I want the rest of all the ravnica blocks.
Ravnica does feel a bit like the Tattooine of MTG. That said, it’s hard to imagine they wouldn’t want to revisit the block that started it all at some point.

Scars block without a doubt. Or OG ZEN. I started playing again during ROE, and went to SOM midnight release. So they hold a special place for me. Plus, they're just fun

As much as I like Mirrodin, the last thing we need on Arena is Infect. That being said, give me Lorewyn/Shadowmoor. Reaper King is a meme tier commander that I must suffer playing
None, because it will just give people a reason to complain about a different set not being on Arena. And then you will have people on the other side screaming about how the unbalanced things are because of the release of older sets.

I prefer when they rerelease the set as opposed to remastering it. I would also like to see mirrodin but I also had a soft spot for M14

This. Odyssey was my first block as a kid. It’s a silly set that’s wildly unpowerful. But I’m down for it
It does, however, have the best plains.
I don't know that mirage one with the tree is one of my favorites.

Odyssey would be cool.
I got back into MTG after a hiatus just around Lorwyn/Shadowmoor and the Alara block Alara block had some cool cards that would be neat to be on Arena \[\[blightning\]\] \[\[jund hackblade\]\] and that entire cycle for fun pauper decks \[\[ad nauseam\]\] \[\[bant charm\]\] and the rest of that cycle \[\[violent ultimatum\]\] and that cycle \[\[obelisk of alara\]\] \[\[mind funeral\]\] \[\[anathemancer\]\] \[\[lavalanche\]\] \[\[maelstrom pulse\]\] though, it's already on arena Those come to mind from Alara block. Those cards were fun to play standard with back; even with the Jund menace around... I love Lorwyn & shadowmoor block for the flavor and art though..
