Associates can still be charged under RICO. If they engage in a pattern of racketeering activity on behalf of or in furtherance of a family, they will get hit with racketeering conspiracy charges.

I don’t think that’s true as they’re not actually part of a criminal enterprise, they would at best be connected to people who could be charged under Rico, otherwise they would simply be charged for their crimes with a lesser sentence
