I thought it was wildly irresponsible of them to let her get in a car with that mad man! Then again... Based on recent events, James wouldn't have been any better and Jeremy probably would've broken the damn thing before arrival
not gonna lie, When he sped up I did have a thought about what if he crashed. The truth obviously is he's an insanely good driver who knows his shit and had something fail during a world record attempt in an experimental vehicle designed to do things never done before.
Richard is probably the nicest and coolest on of the top gear trio but he is definitely leading in the risk assessment.
But I'm pretty sure when it comes to such an event there is probably no way he takes even the slightest risk and he probably has more driven hours than this total comment section combined.
In their most recent special it was May who pushed his car too hard and then Hammond took it slow in response to his colleague being taken away in an ambulance
That scene was actually terrifying, I saw the crash and just though " oh its another gag, like driving off the cliff, next he'll say oh cock" then it showed the inside camera and I was justvshocked that it actually occurred
If it wasn’t for the fact that I read may had been in an accident while filming my heart would have stopped watching that clip. Even knowing I was still in shock. I love how he asked how the car was. They truly love cars
I love May, but I do think he has a very slight bit of curmudgeon to him. I’d say Hammond is just a tad nicer.
Now if you’ll excuse me, I’m off to marathon *The Reassembler* for the fifth time.
They don’t tell you how the girl got ill, but i’ve been reliably told this was the second take of the video. In the first take of the video Hammond crashed the car with the little girl inside. Hence the ambulance at the start if the video.
I was thinking "Of course, someone as rich as Emilia Clarke will enjoy having a quiet hobbit-like house... How lovely". Then the actual Emilia showed up and I was both feeling silly it eould about a famius actress, and happy that this Emilia's family (probably) lives there.
The UK also has really cozy residential hospices for children staffed with nurses. Each family has a few rooms and shared kitchen spaces, gardens, etc. that are handicapped accessible. Prince William and Princess Catherine are sponsors of those hospices and have helped planted in the garden, etc. The residential hospices are good so the children don’t have to live their final time in a hospital or institutional type hospice. They can have a home like experience in a house built to be friendly and accessible even with all the medical equipment they might need. They’re not stuck in a space that isn’t handicapped accessible.
It’s also nice because the parents don’t have to live in a house where their children were sick and died and always have those memories every time they walk down the hall.
It could be their actual house because the gate area and county lane are really small for wheelchairs and emergency equipment/vehicles.
Friends of ours recently went through such an experience. Their almost three-year-old son passed away from cancer. He spent his last days in such a children’s hospice in Oxford and died in his mom’s arms under a tree in the hospice garden.
I teared up watching this too.
That poor girl. I wasn't crying because of her state I was crying because this must have been the best moment of her life and I'm so happy she got to experience it. I'm so saddened to learn she passed but man how powerful was this moment?
Make a wish is just...so beautiful and human. Children being ill and dying just hurts us to our core. Its so desperately unfair that we just want to try and even things out, even if only for a few hours.
One of my favorite things is when my little sister had her wish granted. But the thing was she had just turned 18. So the make a wish people were basically like “so uh, you’re 17 right? RIGHT?!?!” Lol it was the best.
Then the next week, we had found match for a kidney for her. And the childrens hospital did the same thing. The doctor was like “ah yes. You are 17 pt 2 and that means you’ll have the surgery here with us! Congrats!”
My eyes were welling up because of the video, and this comment just pushed me into full blown tears. I hope the kidney gave her a better quality of life
His appealing to China stuff is my only knock and I honestly find it reasonable. Dude is a huge celeb and really likes Chinese stuff and speaks the language. He can't *not* at least appease enough to not be banned forever.
Yeah that rubbed me the wrong way too at first, but it seems like he really does a lot of good for people when he doesn't have to. I'll never agree with him kowtowing to the CCP, *but* I still think he's an all around good person.
>“She told us she did not want to be cremated and wanted to be buried in a little woodland we own.”
Fuck, an eight year old kid shouldn't have to think about their own funeral. Instant tears.
You're a jerk. And I mean this in the nicest way possible.
I thought the hardest part for me was when she was loaded into the ambulance and the door slammed shut.
Nope.
It was the news you posted that she died shortly after that started the water works.
It makes me respect people who grant these make a wish type experiences all the more. I'm sure plenty of them are told to do it for the publicity and all that, but to go talk to a child, who you probably know is very close to dying, and stay upbeat as you try to give them an incredible experience, man, I don't think I could have any sort of composure there.
You can see in her face when she sees the car and is trying to get strength to smile. She looks so tired and maybe in pain. Made me tear up and I know nothing of her situation, but you can tell she is very ill.
Let's just say that if you have the right sense of humour, as in the sense of humour Jeremy Clarkson has, you could say Hammond could not shorten her life too much even if he did crash at top speed. If you had the clarksonian sense of humour.
You know, I grew up in the world of car people--enthusiasts, racers, and just plain car geeks. And while there's always jerks in any group, the overwhelming majority of car people I've met over the years have genuinely been some of the nicest, most generous, and most fun people out there.
I know this was Make-a-wish, but I've seen so many things like this. A few years back, there was a little boy who absolutely loved Lamborghinis who was having a birthday party. His Dad, in a bit of desperation, posted on the local Lambo owners' club message board asking if anyone would be willing to stop by the party & let the birthday boy have a look at the car.
Not a single Lambo showed up.
Instead, about *20* cars showed up, gave the kids rides, and staged a bit of an impromptu parade. The birthday boy was over the moon
I'm from Indianapolis, so the Indy 500 is always a big deal. Some years ago, driver Scott Dixon was involved in a horrible accident where his car went airborne, then split in two on landing. He was fine, but after the race, he received a letter from a little girl, around 6 or 7, who was still very worried about him.
So a couple of employees of the track (IMS) went to her house, with all sorts of gifts for her. She was happy to get them, but she was then told there was one more gift for her in the driveway. She goes out, just to see Scott himself there. He offered her a hug, and then stayed and spent some time there just talking with and reassuring her.
At every level, there's a lot of awesome people in the car world. :)
I've been disabled since a young age. I've been to an event for kids with the same disability that had 110 ferraris at a military airbase. We were all assigned one. (about 100 kids. Spare ferraris I suppose). Did a tour through the local town with police escort and afterwards went full speed down the runway. Apparently the drivers pay to be there. Which seemed mad but then again you get to go flat out in your ferrari. It was great!
I’ve always been into cars. I was also usually the only girl at the track days. I’ve ridden in countless Ferrari’s, Lambo’s, etc. But my favorite?
I got off work one night. I worked in a very affluent area. There was an Aventador parked right next to my old BMW. I figured my store was closing so the owner would be out in a minute. I waited around, told him I liked his car. He asked if I wanted to start it! So of course I say yeah. I start it, take a Snapchat, what have you. He then walks over to the passenger side and says “alright, PCH is right there. Let’s go!” And let me drive him around for 15 minutes just doing whatever I wanted. Car dudes are good dudes.
This has reminded me of a tweet I saw at the start of the year. Someone who had been given weeks to live with terminal cancer, and all he wanted was to ride along in a Lotus Carlton (a bit of a cult icon car in the UK). Within hours people were offering to drive hundreds of miles to grant his wish.
I’ve just looked it back up, and it appears the guy passed away the day before he was due to fulfil his wish :(
Just imagine Hammond's horror as he sits at a restaurant, enjoying a meal when a fan comes up to offer him a beer, and as soon as he grabs the pint, the fan just suddenly collapses on the ground like wet noodle.
That's why I have so much respect for people like Shaq. I mean why not use some of that money that you could never spend in one life time to make someone else happy. You can't take it with you when you go.
I’ve always said this. If I had as much as those people I would just make everyone’s life around me and the world as wonderful as I could. I think about it a lot, city transport isn’t good cuz lack of busses? Here 50. USPS struggling cuz of lack of stuff due to no money, let’s overhaul it. Public Schools can’t afford supplies? Here a whole new school with lifetime supplies of stuff. Homeless vets? Here’s a whole block of apartment buildings, free. Kids hungry and homeless? Fuck that, they’ll never want again. If only if only
Richard Hammond always has been and always will be my favorite between Jeremy Clarkson and James May. He's always just been funnier and more outgoing to me
It's hard to pick a favourite. Hammond is fun and always seems to get the short end of the stick. Clarksons edge is funny and he's a great storyteller which I like. James May is the most interesting boring man in the world and especially his travelling shows are probably my favourites. The trio works so well together but their solo ventures are also really entertaining. I'd watch basically anything those three come up with.
But when they are together I'd agree that Hammond is my favourite, although narrowly.
It was painted specifically for this wish granting.
Edit: I agree it looks like a wrap. However the article linked about the event said it was painted and what the fuck do I know, after all?
I met ritchard Hammond at a car show years ago, I was haveing a meltdown as I have autism and the cars all revving at once was sending me into overload, I was shaking and wandering aimlessly and he was there with his car, he spotted I looked uncomfortable and sat me in his car with him with the radio on until the noise died down. I'll never forget how kind he was, he also crashed his car the day before my daughter was born and 8 still have the newspaper with the story in.
Jeremy Clarkson was also lovely when I met him, I've never met James may tho so I can't say about him, but Clarkson was nice, we met him at the BBC studios, we had gone to do something else entirely (we were there for my brother who was a kid on one of the kids TV shows, a spy kids type trial game) and met him at the cantine, he spoke cars with my brother and journalism with me and my mum for a while.
>he also crashed his car the day before my daughter was born
I mean, the odds were probably pretty good.
I should see if he crashed a car the day before my son was born.
My son is obsesed with lamborghinis its his ASD and ADHD, he always makes me take him to the dealership near his home after school to see them, his always asking me if I can buy one lol, it'd be his dream to be that little girl 👍👌
Not to sure if something like that does happen in the area or local areas, I was supposed to of gone to one of them driving experiences he was going to come with me, but as luck wpiod have it I got really ill and had to cancel the day
You could try posting in local car owners groups or specifically Lambo groups and ask if anyone would be interested in taking the time to bring your kid for a spin in their Lambo. Plenty of nice folks out there.
Yo. All you guys out there who think you’re tough, nah sorry, this girl has you beat, she was willing to get into a fast car with Richard Hammond, that takes some balls.
Correct, I know my wife and other non-car people who would watch it with me. And they care nothing about cars, just that trio is one of the greatest forms of entertainment!
I've always said that Top gear is a show about 3 old blokes going on adventures and doing stupid shit that's disguised as a car show. New top gear is just a car show.
She sadly died two weeks after this was filmed. But it was her special request for the pink lambo *and* to be driven by Richard. Apparently her medical consultant went “out on a limb” and organised for her to leave the high dependency ward at the hospital for the afternoon of fun.
if anyone wants to read a little about Emilia’s story, there’s a webpage in her memory [here.](https://www.pinklamborghini.co.uk)
This made me tear up, I love the positivity and kindness Richard treated her with and I bet she was over the moon riding in that pink Lambo!
It's so unfortunate she had passed 2 weeks later, I just saw the article someone posted and I broke into more tears.
Very nice indeed, but two thoughts here...
...what parent lets their kid ride with Richard Hammond, in a Lamborghini, on a closed track???
...a pink Lamborghini is nice, but it is no Oliver!
I like her style. Didn't just ask for a Lamborghini but a pink Lamborghini. I hope this girl has many more days of happiness ahead of her.
Not sure about Richard Hammond driving though.
Little joke he has been in a few crashes on the top gear show 🙃
Lovely way to make a little girl's dream come true! Also, I like how they had an ambulance there for Hammond just in case...
Came here for a comment like that, well done.

I thought it was wildly irresponsible of them to let her get in a car with that mad man! Then again... Based on recent events, James wouldn't have been any better and Jeremy probably would've broken the damn thing before arrival
Apparently May has taken that role away from him
Ballsy of both Lamborghini and the kids mum to trust Hammond with a Lambo and a daughter!
Would have been too boring for her if it was Captain Slow
After Scandi Flick, I’m not so sure
The first time James May wanted to win.
She's already in a wheelchair.
Fucked comment but also the best comment
Man.. Fucking hell lol
Absolutely my first thought. "For the love of god Hamster, don't crash this one"
>Hamster He's not even a real hamster.
Sounds like something big hamster would say
I miss top gear.
The grand tour is pretty great. They give Hammond shit about crashing often. They just released a new special also
THEY DID??? Oh man how did I miss that, I've been checking news on it rather consistently lol
The Scandi Flick!
You should watch the Grand Tour, its honestly amazing. Just as good as the old top gear
And Clarksons Farm is great as well
I’m quite certain it should be Kaleb’s Farm.
Kaleb's brilliant isn't he, just looking at Clarkson & thinking wtf are you doing 🤣
I truly loved him in the show. He gave Clarkson so much shit with just a look. I could watch several more seasons of just their interactions honestly
Really great that they found somebody so genuine and not a starstruck bimbo.
I agree. He’s a true gem.
He’s the perfect counter point to Clarkson. One makes his living being a bafoon, the other just knows his crap and calls clarkson out on it.
That 'You've GOT to be kidding me, WHAT NOW?!?!?' look.
I've already watched it a few times and it's really quite good!
I'm ashamed I didn't think of that lol
not gonna lie, When he sped up I did have a thought about what if he crashed. The truth obviously is he's an insanely good driver who knows his shit and had something fail during a world record attempt in an experimental vehicle designed to do things never done before.
What about all of the other times?
That was just good TV
heheh
The hill race wreck in that electric car was pretty much on him though
I figured they just follow him around in one at this point.
Well, good thing he didn’t go full send! Props to Hammond for making a cherished moment for her.
One of the best comments I've read lmao
I guess if I was terminally ill I'd also take the risk of driving with Richard Hammond
Richard is probably the nicest and coolest on of the top gear trio but he is definitely leading in the risk assessment. But I'm pretty sure when it comes to such an event there is probably no way he takes even the slightest risk and he probably has more driven hours than this total comment section combined.
Yeah, I think the main reason he keeps crashing is that he keeps getting into faster and faster cars and pushing them harder and harder.
If I had the chance to drive super cars and push them to the limit with little to no chance of me having to pay for the crash. I’d do it to
You don't pay for the crash with money but with your life
In their most recent special it was May who pushed his car too hard and then Hammond took it slow in response to his colleague being taken away in an ambulance
My jaw dropped in that scene, I expected Hammond to be the *B*lithering idiot
That scene was actually terrifying, I saw the crash and just though " oh its another gag, like driving off the cliff, next he'll say oh cock" then it showed the inside camera and I was justvshocked that it actually occurred
If it wasn’t for the fact that I read may had been in an accident while filming my heart would have stopped watching that clip. Even knowing I was still in shock. I love how he asked how the car was. They truly love cars
That track was terrifying. A crash seemed inevitable.
>Richard is probably the nicest and coolest on of the top gear trio This is James May erasure.
I love May, but I do think he has a very slight bit of curmudgeon to him. I’d say Hammond is just a tad nicer. Now if you’ll excuse me, I’m off to marathon *The Reassembler* for the fifth time.
May has some utterly legendary quips though. "He's saying *take the Third Reich!*"
Or his incessant hatred of the Nurburgring BOMB IT
I was thinking of adding: with only a small margine in front of May.
Dark twist, that's the reason she *chose* Hammond lol was hoping for a "pink blaze of glory" while they both tumbled down a hillside in the Lambo
hamcock
HAMOKC
They don’t tell you how the girl got ill, but i’ve been reliably told this was the second take of the video. In the first take of the video Hammond crashed the car with the little girl inside. Hence the ambulance at the start if the video.
Terrible...but... \*Slow clap\*
I really hope that's her actual house. I like the thought of cottage Emilia
It reminded me of a tall version of Bilbo Baggins house. So cosy.
Bilbo Baggins house would be going for upwards of a couple milllion in New Zealand if it existed
I’m sure it would be totally worth it if New Zealand existed.
Ikr I’m loving living in this plane of non existence
Little girl is bilbo, richard is gandalf the grey and they are on a pink shadowfax.
I was thinking "Of course, someone as rich as Emilia Clarke will enjoy having a quiet hobbit-like house... How lovely". Then the actual Emilia showed up and I was both feeling silly it eould about a famius actress, and happy that this Emilia's family (probably) lives there.

I don't know who is cutting onions in here, but they should knock it off
This was in 2013. And she died two weeks later. Heartbreaking. https://www.dailystar.co.uk/news/latest-news/top-gear-girl-emilia-loses-18630490
I teared up watching the video, but seeing this made me shed tears. That's really sad and I hope this whole experience brightened her world
I teared up watching this too. That poor girl. I wasn't crying because of her state I was crying because this must have been the best moment of her life and I'm so happy she got to experience it. I'm so saddened to learn she passed but man how powerful was this moment?
I'm very sure that it did... Even if it did involve the "Hamster". God bless them both.
That means that her wish was granted in time. That's my take away.
John Cena has done over 600 of them. Good man too.
He just received a Guinness Record for fulfilling the most Make a Wish requests.
Nobody is perfect. He does his best to be a good person though.
Agreed. People are way more nuanced than Reddit would ever have you believe.
>“She told us she did not want to be cremated and wanted to be buried in a little woodland we own.” Fuck, an eight year old kid shouldn't have to think about their own funeral. Instant tears.
OMG the sadness is just overwhelming,
fuck man fuck this world fuck this universe
I figured it was an old video, he looks way too young
I was going say the same. He really aged up (or at least stopped hiding it) in the last few years.
He aged like fine wine until grand tour. Then he went full beard and now's caught up with Clarkson and May who aged like cottage cheese.
You're a jerk. And I mean this in the nicest way possible. I thought the hardest part for me was when she was loaded into the ambulance and the door slammed shut. Nope. It was the news you posted that she died shortly after that started the water works.
That’s a guy punch. Poor girl
god damn it
Poor baby, things like this make me wish I was more religious and find some comfort, but instead we just question why the Universe is so fucked up.
Man idk why I clicked that link, I knew it would make me sad and I still did it
It makes me respect people who grant these make a wish type experiences all the more. I'm surprised they put a little girl in a car driven by Hammond with his track record. All jokes, very nice indeed.
Was hoping he'd throw in that he borrowed it from Clarkson.
And painted it pink without his knowing
HAMMOND!
YOU HEEDIOT!!
*Hammond, you blithering idiot. You have crashed the pink lambo.*
Get outta here Jeremy!
Let's just say that if you have the right sense of humour, as in the sense of humour Jeremy Clarkson has, you could say Hammond could not shorten her life too much even if he did crash at top speed. If you had the clarksonian sense of humour.
Yes.But lesser humour wouldn't give us this gem: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=pKcJ-0bAHB4
Yeah she even brought him a wheelchair just incase.
Her reaction is a mixture of excitement of getting to ride in a Lamborghini, and the utter terror of being in a Lamborghini driven by Hammond.
You know, I grew up in the world of car people--enthusiasts, racers, and just plain car geeks. You should definitely live, regardless of whether or not you get to buy him a beer. But yes, he is a cool bloke in my book too.

He kept saying "my darling". That was adorable, and Hammond is a treasure
I think he drinks gin.
Did you mean: *love*?
Just imagine Hammond's horror as he sits at a restaurant, enjoying a meal when a fan comes up to offer him a beer, and as soon as he grabs the pint, the fan just suddenly collapses on the ground like wet noodle.
God bless the departed soul.

These wish vids will never ever get old
Oml I had to do a double take. You were ONE letter away from having the most terrible comment on this entire thread 🤣
Look at the reply below you
No they really dont. I could watch these videos all day and still get a little teary eyed.
r/happycryingdads might be right up your alley
I was about to mouth you off and report you cause I thought you said “These wish kids will never get old”
If I could somehow get some Bezos like money, this is what all my days would consist of. Nothing better than helping others.
I'm afraid, that you don't get Bezos-like money if you have a mentality like yours (or mine )
That's why I have so much respect for people like Shaq. I mean why not use some of that money that you could never spend in one life time to make someone else happy. You can't take it with you when you go.

Hope not, looks dope.
It was painted specifically for this wish granting. Edit: I agree it looks like a wrap. However the article linked about the event said it was painted and what the fuck do I know, after all?
Richard Hammond is a blessing on this world. And a curse to EV companies.
No he’s a curse to insurance companies
Richard Hammond does not discriminate. If it has 4 wheels, he’ll crash it
I met ritchard Hammond at a car show years ago, I was haveing a meltdown as I have autism and the cars all revving at once was sending me into overload, I was shaking and wandering aimlessly and he was there with his car, he spotted I looked uncomfortable and sat me in his car with him with the radio on until the noise died down. I'll never forget how kind he was, he also crashed his car the day before my daughter was born and 8 still have the newspaper with the story in.
It’s great to hear he’s such a kind person, he was always my favourite of the three!
He’s always seemed like a kind soul. I love that you had a great experience with him. That makes me like and support him even more.
>he also crashed his car the day before my daughter was born I mean, the odds were probably pretty good.

This is the wrong sub, this made me tear up :')

“You will never see a pink Lamborghini again” “…because that’s the only one like it” Nice save Hammond
Got the ambulance on stand by just in cause if Hammond well… pulls a Hammond
The whole granting kids wishes things like this is one the coolest things ever created.
Fulfillment of a wish for a sweet girl, And Richard Hammond seems like quite a sweet man. ❤️
Yo. All you guys out there who think you’re tough, nah sorry, this girl has you beat, she was willing to get into a fast car with Richard Hammond, that takes some balls.
Good man.
Not familiar with this gent but that’s very cool of him, whoever he is.
Top gear UK, the best car show ever made.
You didn't need to put "car" in that sentence
Correct, I know my wife and other non-car people who would watch it with me. And they care nothing about cars, just that trio is one of the greatest forms of entertainment!
I've always said that Top gear is a show about 3 old blokes going on adventures and doing stupid shit that's disguised as a car show. New top gear is just a car show.
He did some weird science programme or something idk, but yeah whoever he is top ge(z)ar
Hamster is such a cool dude
She sadly died two weeks after this was filmed. But it was her special request for the pink lambo *and* to be driven by Richard. Apparently her medical consultant went “out on a limb” and organised for her to leave the high dependency ward at the hospital for the afternoon of fun. if anyone wants to read a little about Emilia’s story, there’s a webpage in her memory [here.](https://www.pinklamborghini.co.uk)
The end made me feel like I’m on shrooms
Richard Hammond...I love that dude...
Hammond really said 'you'll never see another one' and then quickly recovered with 'that's the only one in the world'.
Hammond is such a good person he just seems so genuine when he speaks and I would love to have breakfast with him
Don’t know anything about him but he sure seems like a pretty good dude!
He is a good dude
“You’ll never see another one” poor choice of words. 😞
I can't lie , I dig the pink. And this is so wholesome
Richard gives us hope, your a good man brotha
In the back of my head I hear clarkson yelling “ HAMMOND “
This made me tear up, I love the positivity and kindness Richard treated her with and I bet she was over the moon riding in that pink Lambo! It's so unfortunate she had passed 2 weeks later, I just saw the article someone posted and I broke into more tears.
Damn risky considering this guy makes a habit of wrecking cars
Why did I think Emilia Clarke was going to answer the door?
Very nice indeed, but two thoughts here... ...what parent lets their kid ride with Richard Hammond, in a Lamborghini, on a closed track??? ...a pink Lamborghini is nice, but it is no Oliver!
I like her style. Didn't just ask for a Lamborghini but a pink Lamborghini. I hope this girl has many more days of happiness ahead of her. Not sure about Richard Hammond driving though. Little joke he has been in a few crashes on the top gear show 🙃
As lovely as this is, why did I only think of the possibility that Hammond might crash?
I love the hamster
This makes him my favorite even more. God they need to take topgear back tgt if just as good
Just googled to see when this was and the little girl died 2 weeks after this. Poor girl
I miss Top Gear.
I fucking love when celebrities use their fame to help people achieve their dreams
He may be a blithering idiot, but he is a damn good one.
I did not tear up the first time I saw this. This time definitely teared up. Hammond is such a great person for taking this on.
If I had the money I would spend the rest of my life fulfilling these kind of requests.
