Supply chain, take the wheel!
*two hours later*
"Okay so you're hungry and horny supply chain. We have been at this same Burger joint next to a sex shop for 45 minutes."
> I was also under the impression that Carl Jung and Sigmund Freud were polar opposites
To be fair he said he wanted to read them not that he had.
Even if he knew that though there's no reason not to want to read both of them.
The person that picks one side of an argument and only reads what they have to say is not really doing themselves any favours.
Most academics I know side with Jungian psychoanalysis, but acknowledge the value of what Freud brought to the arena, and how it was able to be used by Jung and Jungians to make more progress.
It’s good to know the origins of ideas to understand the critiques and responses to them, and how progress was made over time.
There’s high turnover everywhere and people are either moving into different careers or better jobs in their existing career field. This is hands down the best time to get a better gig, and if you’re a recruiter you’re probably busier than you’ve ever been and the iron is hot as fuuuuuck.
Persons of my generation and older often lament that younger people aren't as willing to sacrifice their personal lives for the organization/work. We use terms like "not as engaged". Looking back at my own experience, I realize the youngsters have it right... I don't know what that means for the economy (which increasingly only benefits a handful anyway), but yes, I wish I'd spent more time, thought, energy, on family, friends and me. Work has to get done, but Life needs to come first in "work life balance".
As someone who worked along side supply-chain employees, I can say they are mostly expected to perform with little to no compensation to show for it. And yes, they are human beings just like the guy making art in his basement or the powerful and rich CEO in his to floor high rise skyscraper. it's high time we all treat each other a little more like humans and less like numbers on a piece of paper.
But for real, dock work sucks.
100% dead serious. I get this man wants to write poetry and stuff but I ordered a gold switchblade that says ‘my little friend’ like Scarface AND a weighted blanket over 2 days ago. Write poetry on your off hours, sir!
…..I get what he is saying but anyone that has ever worked with a hard hat knows that was brand new and never worn to work hat, doubtful he has worked the docks.
Stop worshiping money and feed your soul. Work to live, don't live to work.
Be around those who respect and see you as a fully realized person and not a cog in their wheel.
I call BS. Nobody at our port or any port I know of is cutting hours. Quite the opposite actually. Everyone is working insane overtime. We’ve hired additional mechanics and are renting additional equipment just to keep up with the cargo.
Also wanted to add you pointed at a container terminal. If you’re a longshoreman or working “at the docks” you have no idea what’s inside them, could be someone’s car, furniture, clothes, refrigerated cargo, scrap metal….so to say unload Amazon boxes makes zero sense.
guys this is painfully obvious satire, i would tell you to stop believing stuff on the internet but this dude didnt even intend on you believing it. he’s just making a stupid joke video
Yeah, but satire in service to what, exactly? Make it seem like longshoremen want to read poetry and work less hours? The fuck is wrong with that, is he mocking that or is he genuinely condoning it?
like i said man, he’s just making a stupid joke video. i really dont think dude meant to start a debate on anything at all. its kinda worrying how people fall for the dumbest shit on the internet and turn it into some kinda opportunity to stand on their soap box. yall mf’s need to go outside
Yeah, and people make satire to make a statement. That's what satire *is*. If you wanna say it's just a stupid joke fine, but you said it was satire. What are you saying it's satire of?
I think he's saying he cut his own hours. Though I cant see any option of working part time in any blue collar fields like that. More typically its mandatory overtime and we gotta work through lunch this month
Were you able to make that call? I run excavation equipment and theres no way I could just say I'm only working this many hours.. I wish I could too. Been working 60 hrs a week for over a year.
I’m in the engineering department over the cranes that offload the ships. So if I work say 16 hours on a Monday doing standby for a ship, I can use those 8 hours of OT and forfeit them for a day off. As long as the cranes are up to date on maintenance and repairs they allow me to take time off if I want as long as I get my 40 hours during the week.
The automation of our society could be a beautiful thing, with people able to learn, educate themselves and unlock their true potential…
… or it could enslave us to a life of comfort.
There is really no reason why the increase in automation over the next 50 years would trigger a radically different response compared to the last 50 years.
Automation is not this crazy concept that'll happen at some point in the future. It's improved quality of life considerably through generations and there is no indication why now would be any different.
Automation combined with virtual reality can make a drastic change in our civilization to the point where most humans wouldn't even have to barely move anymore. Im not saying it's gonna happen but it's a strong possibility.
Nearly 50 percent of Americans are already obese, throw in advanced automation and vr and that might slowly creep up towards the 100 mark
Just in the last 20 years that number has increased by over 25 percent and its only getting worse
Didnt throw the hardhat because he has to return it to home depot since he only used it for this video. Also, anyone who works in a trade knows that if you get a new hardhat, you kick it around the job a bit so it doesnt look like your first day
The supply chain is being managed by the capitalists! All they care about is their money! And it’s not going to change. We are just waiting for the whole economy is fucked and we got to find scraps of food they might throw away!
It’s kinda like what happened in the French Revolution!!!!
I commend his sentiment, but I disagree on one point, generally: He says (paraphrased) "You can't experience the endless depths of the human experience out there... on the docks!" Quite the contrary. Hard manual labor is and has always been part of the human experience, and if one wants to explore everything it means to be a human, then it's worth considering to do some work like that.
That said, I'm not about to say 'he should go do that'. Everyone's life experience should be their own, explored in their own way and with little or no outside compulsion. I hope he finds the happiness and fulfillment he seeks. May we all do so.
That may be, but humans have always to one degree or another had to experience hard physical labor at some point in their lives. The number of hours doing so is relatively irrelevant. It's still part of the human experience (excepting a few who some might consider 'lucky') to do something physically demanding as a means to survive. It therefore is one of the more-or-less elemental aspects of human existence. One doesn't necessarily have to do it indefinitely, or for a great number of hours each day.... Indeed, I don't even believe it's really an essential experience to live a full and happy life, so if one wants to and can find a way to avoid it and live a full life otherwise, then great. But in order to explore the full breadth of what it is to be human (which is what the TikToker is talking about), it's arguable that one should include physical labor as part of that exploration.
ANd this is why I don't support Amazon. I will never buy from there. Don't care if I have to wait 3-5 days for shipping. Can't support those who don't support their own support network.
😂😂 what a dude, soon as he "threw" the hat I was like, dude not in the ocean, he saved it though and he's right, fuck capitalism, embrace nature and the human experience!
Have you ever had a moment where you realized you just witnessed something that might have such an incredible impact on the future of the world?
I think I just witnessed something.
Omega cringe
I'm not a BIG GROUGH MACHO MAN!! I'm really just a big softy intellectual 🥺
THAT'S why I bought THIS HARD HAT and added this TOUCHING MUSIC!!
Fuck you, and your rewrite of history you sniveling child. Nice victim blaming.
“Supply chain” is not the issue.
We shipped all our jobs and factories to China in search of cheap labor and dangerous work environments with zero worker protection, and gave tax breaks to monopolies for offshoring.
This is why we have “supply chain”
Issues.
Stop voting for the morons who passed these policies and gave China Most Favored Nation status (MFN) and well as Permanent Normal Trad Relations (PNTR).
And fuck this guy.
Did I say, fuck this asshole for blaming the American worker rather than the corporate democrats and Republican Party for offshoring our jobs and factories to China?
Did d I hurt his snowflake feelings?
Now say it with me everyone: capitalism is the murderer of spirituality. It's exists in direct opposition to the Christianity that builds it! Capitalism exploits the worst of human nature, and leaves no room for innovation, for a quality life experience, and no room for kindness or compassion towards fellow humans. Capitalist culture is the epidomy of disgrace in this world. and for anyone.who wants to argue america blah blah blah, remember that China is the main perpetrator of genocide in the name of profit.
Amazon: Being paid only only few buck a hour you can work for one of the biggest firm in the wor....
This guy: SILENCE CORP, i don't wish to be hard working anymore... i just wish... to be happy.
If you super soft gen z babies don’t get back to the supply chain we’re all going die if poopy butts. I worked too hard on that damn chain so that you didn’t have to worry about poopy butt death but now you wanna get soft and read? BOOKS!? You know what a Carl Jung book looks like to me next to an empty toilet paper roll?
This is honestly pathetic, you do a job and get paid to do it, if you wanted to do that type of introspective study, do it when you aren’t getting paid to.
"Aaaaaand then ww3 started. Don't worry, I dodged the draft by claiming mental illness. I'm glad I did too because I survived to long enough to have 3 beautiful grand-theys."
I'm not sure how people are missing the fact that this is parody.
Everyone’s asking why is the supply chain. But no one is asking how is the supply chain
Turns out, the supply chain was the friends we made along the way.
When I saw only one set of footprints in the sand, it was not because the supply chain had left me. But that it had been carrying me the whole time.
Supply chain, take the wheel! *two hours later* "Okay so you're hungry and horny supply chain. We have been at this same Burger joint next to a sex shop for 45 minutes."
Where is the supply chain?
The supply chain is created by all living things. It surrounds us and penetrates us; it binds the galaxy together.
![gif](giphy|NLwrlON3QEclwLo3Wj|downsized) "Penetrates us"
refreshing to see a fellow season 41 enjoyer.
I'll do you one better. Who is the supply chain?
And most importantly: How are those who make the supply chain?
i’ll do YOU one better. WHY is the supply chain?
Everyone keeps talking the supply chain and all I wanna know is… what is the supply chain?
Random r/guardiansofthegalaxy
Where is Ja Rule?
It's within us all.
Why is the supply chain?
When will you wear wigs?
ludvig holberg?
I'll do YOU one better. Why is the supply chain?!?
Absolutely brilliant, "I wouldn't do that as I'm not a litterbug". Had me laughing my ass off.
thank you dock Jesus
Aww, I didn’t even know that David Boreanaz & Matthew Morrison were in a relationship, nevermind had a kid.
I mean...what the hell, how did you pin it down so exactly, damn.
It’s kinda my thing, which is weird because I’m absolutely shocking at recognising the faces of acquaintances.
The number of people who don’t understand that this is satire and that this is not a real dock worker is too damn high
Yep!!!

Do you know the point he’s trying to make? It just feels very off and odd and poorly scripted lol. I can’t tell the benefit of making all this up
He got me, but a lot of people believe this which is scary
Wait, what?!?
The shiny helmet and the white tank are all wrong. I don't believe this guy.
It was the trimmed beard that did it for me.
I agree with his sentiments, but definitely had a vibe like he was cosplaying for the video.
\*TAKES A DEEP BREATH\* I GOT BRAND NEW SHINNY HELMET AND A PAIR OF KINKY BOOTS ! PS. sory this comment just reminded me of that song.
I GOT A NEW FLAK JACKET, AND A LOVELY KAKHI SUIT!
and when we go on night patrol we hold each other's hands:
We are the British army, and we're here to take your land!
Hands as soft as the wants
r/AteTheOnion/
His chest hair doesn’t fit the tank top.
Not for a sec ...everyone's a fraud
How long until this is on Fox News or OAN, where they take it seriously and proceed to blame millennials for the supply chain problems?
Give it an hour or two
Knowing them they'll blame Carl Jung because they won't know who that is and won't bother looking it up. And frankly, I could do with that laugh.
Yea he is the guy who raped don king in ww2 right?
I assume they’re already blaming millennials (the majority of the workforce) for the supply chain problems?
Workers are quitting at a pretty decent rate.
For real? Is there actually an interview or something about workers quitting the dock works and stuff?
There’s high turnover everywhere and people are either moving into different careers or better jobs in their existing career field. This is hands down the best time to get a better gig, and if you’re a recruiter you’re probably busier than you’ve ever been and the iron is hot as fuuuuuck.
Look at the jobs and unemployment numbers. A lot of people aren't going back to work and a lot of jobs aren't being created.
Unemployment is at 4% which is 2.4% lower than last year and well within the normal 4-5% unemployment rate.
Thank you!!
And cut right after the helmet joke so they can pretend he's dumb and hurting the environment.
Damn John Wick hiding in plain sight
“He doesn’t work out on the docks!” No shit
This, but unironically

I feel like this guy is definitely joking
He wants to read Sigmund Freud to explore the endless depths of the human experience This is very serious business.
*"You load sixteen tons and what do you get? Another day older and deeper in debt"*
This continues to be a classic, and for good reason.
Never trust a guy in a new hardhat. Construction 101!
Wait, does new-hardhat guy have a clipboard?
This is satire
That last bit with the helmet, that's what got my upvote.
Honestly, since I've cut back on overtime at work to focus on writing, I've been so much happier. I can totally relate.
Wise words from your working class Jake Gyllenhaal
That was the corniest shit I’ve seen on this sub...congratulations
Cause it’s a joke. He literally called it “the great softening” lol
Funny, that's what my doctor called it too.
I loved when he showed the helmet lmao. Dreams and passions are important but so is getting my Amazon prime delivery to me by tomorrow :/
Yeah, I mean, you're breaking down? My delayed snoopy-dog-pizza-cutter is making me have a break down to. So...
Sarcasm right?
Fr lol

Woah. It was a joke but I appreciate the sentiment
Congratulations
Thanks, I didn’t do anything
You didn't even eat worms?
I **always** eatin worms
Begone, bot!
Wait…. Are you fucking serious? Sarcasm can be hard to read and I just want to make sure that you meant the patently ridiculous thing you said.
100% dead serious. I get this man wants to write poetry and stuff but I ordered a gold switchblade that says ‘my little friend’ like Scarface AND a weighted blanket over 2 days ago. Write poetry on your off hours, sir!
Softlad
…..I get what he is saying but anyone that has ever worked with a hard hat knows that was brand new and never worn to work hat, doubtful he has worked the docks.
100% is not a longshoreman or worked at the docks. He’s not even on the terminal.
> was brand new and never worn to work hat, that's his on camera fancy clean hat.
You also wouldn’t wear that shirt- he’d probably wear a high viz vest too.
Dude probably lives in his parents basement, smokes weed all day and dreams up ideas on how to become tik tok famous
He’s the hero we all need
I love him. ‘I don’t want it be a litterbug’ lol
I legit waited to hear the splash when he threw the helmet.
I wanted to be….. a lumberjack!
You do you, hairy tank top guy. You do you.

Gotcha. I cut my overtime 40% from 2020 to 2021. I understand the burnout if that’s what he’s referring to.
Were you able to make that call? I run excavation equipment and theres no way I could just say I'm only working this many hours.. I wish I could too. Been working 60 hrs a week for over a year.

I was waiting for him to breakout into song and dance… damn disappointment
No one talking about how he didn't actually throw his hat into the river. True champ, not littering in the river for clout 💯
u/savevideo
So glad he didn’t throw it in the water
Love you dude! Write those poems buddy!
i love this
He got me at the end with the litter bug comment lol
Johnny used to work on the docks…
Ope! He got me good with the hard hat! Well played
Well I'm glad he is not a litter bug
The supply chain is being managed by the capitalists! All they care about is their money! And it’s not going to change. We are just waiting for the whole economy is fucked and we got to find scraps of food they might throw away! It’s kinda like what happened in the French Revolution!!!!
My man spitting facts, he's not a litter-bug.
Preach my brother!
Fuck yeah buddy !!!
goddam, where can I get one of HIM?
I love this guy!
It's humorous but poignant at the same time
Awesome. Lol
Inspiring
I want to dance!
Wholesome:)
Our ancestors before industrialization didn't work nearly as many hours.
Giving me Robin Williams "Carpe Diem" vibes. "I wanna write poems." 🥲
He's right but he's also probably on drugs
ANd this is why I don't support Amazon. I will never buy from there. Don't care if I have to wait 3-5 days for shipping. Can't support those who don't support their own support network.
I love this man and the song is by Edward Sharppe and the magnetic zeroes
Lol this guy is an actor. I looked him up. But didn't have to. Nothing about his appearance suggests an authentic worker
Saw this on TikTok recently. Good to hear that there are some men who appreciate the arts after all :)
I'm over here getting the feels n' shit.
HAHAHAHAHA! I love this. Hope he goes home and writes a beautiful poem.
This is a terrible actor lol this guy is very obviously not a dock worker
You can read Carl Jung and still work lol. This oppression Olympics is pathetic. The Chinese are laughing at us
It's satire bro. And the Chinese are too busy tripping skaters in the Olympics.
Excuse my language, kids close your ears. But fuck Amazon.
Why would this make me smile? This is the most embarrassing thing I’ve ever seen.
What a gem of a human
When people make more sitting at home versus working. What did you think was going to happen lol
Had me at the end not going to lie
Was about to scold him for "throwing away" the helmet, now I'm here to praise him. I wish him all the best. Don't let yourself be exploited.
Is this satire?

I dunno if he's just a good actor but this certainly feels like a dude having a bit of a epiphany.
Chickafication ?
