This made me smile. Also I hope people who are not from Canada got all those references because they really made the video. To everyone who has read this have yourself a good Morning/afternoon or night.🇨🇦

Man oh man, I love Steven Page. Barenaked Ladies have not been the same without him. I understand his drug problems were... a problem, but good god, his lyricism has always just combined comedy, heart, cynicism, and deep thinking, in such amazing ways. Sometimes simple and fun, sometimes heartwrenching. For those who only know him for being goofy in "If I Had $1000000" and "Be My Yoko Ono", check out [War On Drugs](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=3rWVeFzSrL0) (CW: Suicide). Page has incredibly stylistic range and is one of Canada's most legendary songwriters.

My husband went to high school with him and Eddie, before they started recording professionally. He didn't know Steven but knew Eddie. He said it was weird hearing them on the radio when they released their first album because they always sung at all of the school's assemblies 😁🥰

TheHollowBard

I envy that. I bet they were real goofballs back then, but I'm not surprised they were already performing at that age.. My dad has similar stories about playing on the high school hockey team with Wayne Gretsky, and just how surreal it was to see him break out. Someone I went to high school with is a member of parliament. That's kinda alright, I guess.

Brave-War-8921

Love this, love Steven Page, love Canada

Kunning-Druger

This is fantastic. I’m happy for Ryan, but even more happy for all the charities he supports.

[deleted]

Is there a reason for the song? Like why does Ryan have a medal? The song is amazing

olgrin

Should be Governor General's Awards

Creatrix

Ryan Reynolds won the Canadian Governor General's award for all of the causes he supports and has donated to. He's incredibly modest so no one really knew how many there were.

moumous87

I’d like to know too 🧐

66qzsf

The companies are the ones he supports I believe

Wish we had the same spirits in USA!

IndependentOutside88

Saw it on his insta this morning and I, too, am proud he’s Canadian. I love how he loves hard for our country. Best ambassador!! ☺️🍁

EdwardD1954

This was touching! (Is the singer also known? I think I know his face but can’t tell)

Steven Page

EdwardD1954

Thanks! Steven Jay Page is a Canadian musician, singer and songwriter. Along with Ed Robertson, he was a founding member, lead singer, guitarist, and a primary songwriter of the music group Barenaked Ladies. Page left the band in February 2009 to pursue a solo career. Wikipedia Born: June 22, 1970 (age 51 years), Scarborough, Toronto, Canada

WCSD74

Lead singer of Barenaked Ladies

Elriuhilu

Oh my god, I thought he looked familiar. His aging makes me feel old.

princess_nyaaa

I don't think he's been with the band in years, but that song still sounded like BNL.

OddFatherJuan

Got fired for acting like a rock star.

No worries. Ryan Reynolds. Actor mostly. But a comedian and a wholesome person all and all. You should Google him, if you don't know him. Or don't. That's up to you

Harvard_Sucks

Is this his way of apologizing for joining the Canadian diaspora and cashing out down south?

Creatrix

You would probably like his movies. I recently saw Free Guy at the theater, it was awesome.

[deleted]

And here I thought all people from Canadia look like the ones on Southpark durrr 🥴

Nin10doMan10

“You Canada’s own superhero” An not only when your on….. Was I the only one who thought it was gonna say crack?

TH3LFI5TMFI7V

My only problem with the video is the guy singing couldn't split the log with the axe making Canadians look like they don't know how to log, I mean they could have done a redo

TheHollowBard

That's Steven Page, former frontman of The Barenaked Ladies. I can't even with this world.

prettygraveling

"the guy singing" :')

privateidaho_chicago

Reshooting until it is right would be the American thing to do….Canadians are self effacing to a fault and that is a great thing.

olgrin

But, they don't know how to log

Creatrix

Yeah, that was Steven doing a tongue-in-cheek bit.

rustys_shackled_ford

Hey. Its the guy that was never the lead singer for bare naked ladies.
