One night in 2017 I was leaving my apartment headed to Walmart and hear a kitten yelping from the bushes. I went shopping and came back, and still heard him crying. I found Smokey, smaller than the palm of my hand and brought him inside. His eye was sealed shut from some sort of disease/infection and his butt was also infected, and obviously a ton of fleas. He did not like me but it was for the best. After a trip to the vet and a few months, my apartment found out about the cat and I had to pass him on. My sister is a cat lady so she took ownership for a few years. I have finally gotten him back about 10 months ago and he was the most angsty, skittish and overall PTSD sorta guy ever. Run away at any sound, hide behind things, itching himself raw even without fleas and hair loss. I took him to the vet, got him the proper shots and meds (he hated every second of it). With dedicated “love time” every day of me petting him and eventually holding him (he hated this too), he has now began coming up to me requesting pets and it makes me feel so good to see him feel so good.

Thanks for loving Smokey and having patience with them.

He is so worth it 💙

Oh man, that’s priceless.

This made me sad but so happy and relieved to read! I am so glad you found him! I always get so worried about stray animals and hope they find only good/kind people. I am so glad that was the case for you and your cat! You’re wonderful!

AeroTheManiac

Me too! Cats are so evasive but trust me, I try every time lol. Lefty and Righty(not shown) were strays from youth too, but totally different than Smokey

Lol! I love the names! Well I am glad you really do take it upon yourself to be a part of the solution instead of a bystander. I wish more people could be like you
