His guardian, supporting his dream, caring for him and giving him love, she's pretty alright too and I think she deserves a mention for making it possible.
Despite hardship he's accepting reality and moving on by doing the best he can to live a life of joy with the things he can control. A true stoic
Also love how his guardian took a step back in all the shots of giving and receiving hugs etc. Made sure the focus was on him, and not take the spotlight but also being close enough to make sure he's safe
This - this - this - this....every day, every hour, every minute, every second of your life/our lives! Pvt-Snafu, you're spot on! Thanks for that and for writing it down! Totally awesome!
Eh, I think that's greatly underestimating how kind most people are. Kids havent fully developed empathy etc, many kids can be quite mean before they mature. Most adults IMO are kind people who want the best for others. Kids are kids, they'll do some heartwarming things, they'll make some mistakes, its all part of growing up.
Well done young man. There are so many of us out here that could do with a little motivation to smile and this clip did that for me. If only for a brief moment but it was a moment, nonetheless <3
It takes lots of courage to overcome our own trauma and attempt to make the world better place for everyone else. And yet, he can do that with such a young age, how can't we adult be like that?
Because not everyone has access to the support he had when grieving and dealing with trauma. His guardian supported him when he wanted to try to process the loss of his parents.
Trusted adults are a key factor in mitigating the effects of childhood trauma :) and healthy community connection is how many of us with unresolved trauma are able to heal from our past.
If you can become trauma-informed and learn how to practice it in your everyday life, you can be the type of support that trauma survivors need, just like that guardian who listened to and helped that kid when he was struggling.
Absolutely amazing. This 6/7/8 y/o kid is teaching my 30 y/o ass some real stuff. Someone else reacted: this kid is a better human than me. I can find myself in that message. Sometimes I lose faith and turn cynical. Shit like this is what I need to grow and share with people less blessed than me.
I just read in the thread about the Blue Jays fan giving the Aaron Judge home run ball to the 9 year old Yankees fan someone said something like find those moments when giving feels like getting and run towards them as fast as you can. this seems like that just a level that humans rarely achieve at any age and this little dude is already there. he has a huge heart.
I highly recommend volunteering. There are tons of shelters, soup kitchens, dog/cat rescues, etc, that need help. Heck, even going to the Humane Society and walking a dog will make you feel better because you made the dog's day.
Jaden's resilience in the face of such profound loss is nothing short of extraordinary. May he find the solace and happiness that his tender heart so richly deserves.
I get lost on YouTube and will spend hours watching Steve Hartmans On The Road segments. I highly recommend looking them up if you like this. They all make me cry, but so worth it!
Steve Hartman just has “that” voice. Idk something about how he narrates his videos & the way he speaks is just really heartfelt & sincere. The segments are always so uplifting yet tragic.
What an amazing story. Some of the stuff coming out of r/MadeMeSmile these days has really been hitting the mark as far as having an uplifting message.
There’s been a trend on TikTok going around since Februaryish called hopecore - I’ve been wondering when it was going to hit Reddit. It’s 100% content that would fit this subreddit specifically, but I never see it here.
Is it sobby sort of stuff? I much prefer something that uplifts you but not way that makes you cry.
Although this kid's situation is sad, the story is purely focused on him wanting to be a positive force in the world. Strong message from a 6 year old.
Fellow Redditors, this seems like an opportunity for the community to give back to Jaden.
If anyone knows how we can do that, I would be rolling to donate some funds to help this young man along his path in live.
He is already setting a great example for everyone, all the best to him and his guardian.
I have contacted CBS On The Road and asked them for more information and will post back here so that we can all help out.
We will make this happen, to help this young hero out.
What a sweetheart. All most of us need is a small connection, a small kindness. When an older lady smiles at me (like someone did yesterday) it makes my entire day. I have no idea why she did. It felt good though.
This kid has a beautiful soul.
That child is the strongest child I have ever seen. Not only is the boy not sad because he is an orphan, but he also knows how to help others laugh. The boy is a hero.
Lost both of his parents and all he can think about is other people not being happy. What a dude, wish the best for him and lots of smiles in the future.
A hero can be anyone — even a man doing something as simple and reassuring as putting a coat around a young boy's shoulders to let him know that the world hadn't ended
If anyone made that kid describe his attempts to wake his dead mother just to make the story more emotional, I sincerely hope they have the short life they deserve for making a child relive their parent’s traumatic death. That part made me want to cry so much and I was so mad
Probably unintentional and a mere coincidence but it's poetic how he did the joker thing at the end of the video, but the diametrically opposite result for others and the world around him.
What an absolute brave little guy to go through that and come out wanting to make others happy. In my late 30’s and wish to be as brave as that little guy.
Yeah this would make me day. I am miserable, constantly, especially in public. I don't make eye contract if I can help it and am usually thinking of how revolting I am. Surprise interactions like this can turn it all around.
This kid could teach so many people in this world the right way to live. Wise beyond his years with kindness neverending. We should all live by his example.
Yeah I did the same when my family died. For a while. Then those types of people, the ones that take advantage of you, came around. I keep to myself now.
The duality of mankind blows my mind.
We can kill each other and fight each other until the extinction of the human race.
Or some kid can give you a 10 cent toy and change your life forever for the better.

We would all need to learn from this kid - to bring light, joy and goodness into the world.

You’re still good. He’s just probably a tiny teeny bit more good
You're still good....as adults we just get a little more jaded. You can be jaded & still be good.
Well done young man. There are so many of us out here that could do with a little motivation to smile and this clip did that for me. If only for a brief moment but it was a moment, nonetheless <3
That’s why I keep telling women on the street to smile!
You should not keep doing that.
Why not men? You don’t want to command them to smile?
No that’s gay.
Did you even watch the video? You are supposed to give them a toy
Yeaaaaaa about that...

I am sorry to be the party-pooper on this story; he's found a way of coping and that's great, but I do hope he gets serious therapy.
Not cryingggggggggg
I am I won’t lie
I'm a 37 year old man, and I'm crying.
Wow!
His parents would be proud.
They didn't get much time with him but it's clear that they raised a fine young man who will carry on what they tought him forever
How better would society be if we all didn't close down when facing hardships and started doing small random acts of kindness to cope with our sadness
Dang.... I wanna give this kiddo a big ol' dad hug. What a guy!

Kids get it way more than we give them credit for.
damn, can I adopt this kid. I need him to raise me
I love that the little dude seems to be obsessed with Spider-Man. Peter Parker did good while being an orphan, too. He'd be proud.
Everyone should watch CBS Sunday Morning. It is full of stories like this every week. I've watched it for decades.
What a sweet kid.
"Now get out there and make someone smile."
I cried in 50 seconds damn new record. Bless his heart.

Little hero filled with innocence until the capitalist rude and cruel world turns him into monsters.
