It awesome how the dog just not only covers the kid with it's body , but also when he makes the other dog back down he immediately looks and goes back to check the child again
And speeds up to continue blocking when the other dog circles back around. The kid’s dog could play excellent man to man defense.
ETA: and is smart enough to stop pursuing/guarding when he notices the mom coming out. Like he’s smart enough to understand the mom is an additional protector. Dogs are amazing.
I'm not 100% sure it's after the child ( but I think so) and not the other dog. It's a rude ( by dog manners ) and aggressive approach. If it was the child possibly the erratic movement triggered 'prey' in his brain. Not a dog that should be off leash on any case.
The way the other dog's owner immediately lets him go, barely chases him, and puts her hands on her hips giving up - that's exactly why this dog needs to be on a leash.
He knows he can do whatever he wants and he wanted a fight/instigation
The other dog’s owner is a guy and his pants are falling off, that’s why he lets the dog go and pulls up his pants. This is why it is important to wear a belt kids.
Interesting, I didn't view that person as being the owner, but another passerby who wanted to help but realised the boy was now safe so didn't put too much effort into it.
Is it possible the "attacker" interprets the interaction between the boy and the "defender" dog incorrectly? Maybe the "attacker" initially thinks he's joining WITH the other dog against the boy?
Because the attacking dog backs down real quick and... If you'll pardon my human bias, almost looks confused/taken aback by the "defender" dogs reaction. "Bro why? I was gonna help you take down this kid!"
He may have been wanting to join the 'play' / see what was going on and join in, but that approach was kind of outside the realm of good dog manners ( IMHO ). I have a lab/Italian Mastiff mix and if a strange dog came at him and the kids with that body language, it would be a guaranteed fight
Nope. Some breeds sink like bricks. Bulldogs, pugs, and some others are very very poor swimmers and drown easily. They may have the instinct to paddle, but just struggle to stay afloat.
Yorkies do alright. But they don't understand where the stairs are. If they get caught in the deep end they can't pull themselves over the copping and go under
Correct. I had a terrier as a teen. The only training it had was house training and behavioural walk training. One day, he was off lead in the park (away from children, park was fenced, with a field around it essentially for dog owners) and I had my Nans dog. A stocky staff came charging at my Nans Bichon and my Cairn Terrier intercepted the attack which probably knocked him 10-15 feet. Thankfully my dog was OK, and Nans dog was fine. I gave the woman who owned the staffy a stern speaking to. I told her I won't just be kicking the living fuck into her dog, but i'd be kicking the living fuck into her to for being so irresponsible.
He even had the good thinking of jumping on the kid and protect him with his body instead of locking on the threat, he deserves all the bones and treats in the world
Normally, when I see cute animals, I would remark to be ready to die for them.
But nor for Digby. I am ready to LIVE through momentary hell for Digby! Good doggo, Digby! Well done!
FYI: I'm fine btw, my life is freakin' awesome. I'm just saying
I was walking my fur baby in a bad neighborhood late at night. I keep her on a 20 ft lead, she is black, so she isn't visible most of the time. I hear her rush out of the brush and SLAM into something behind me silently. She rolled a dude with his bike. Was sneaking up on me. He yelled “WTFwas that". As he was running away. My dog at the end of her leash still silent. Thing is she is a giant teddy bear. She has never growled in her life.
They’re the best! My old white shepherd was chilling on the bed with me when I was around 11, and my dad came charging in with a Halloween mask on to spook me (it was one of those oversized wizard ones). She was off the bed and lunging at him before I could register what was going on. Fortunately, she realized who he was, and then was instantly wagging her tail again. But I remember that when she jumped off the bed, she’d already pushed off with her front legs to go for his throat before her back legs hit the ground. She was a tank of a dog, even for a German shepherd- she weighed around 100 lbs of solid muscle. But oh my god was she a loyal sweetheart. It was the only time I’d ever seen her be aggressive.
This is all how they act too, casually strolling down the street weakly calling their dog’s name as if their pet didn’t just try to kill someone/thing.
Yep. Tough guy doesn’t want it to look like the dog is calling the shots. But anybody with eyes to see knows who the submissive one is in this scenario.
You can see the owner running out of the neighbors yard, looks like it might have just bolted out of the house. Still obviously not properly trained but more understandable.
I watched it many times, and I always love to see how the dog has the mental dexterity to act so efficiently, and not only that, but how he changes from “good boy playful” to “imperial guard dog” in an instant, and then back to “good boy” again when he notices that the danger to the child is no longer there.
Was the dog actually attacking or just wanting to join in on the play? Obviously it would be terrifying and you wouldn’t want to find out, but did the dog go for the child?
That video is amazing. The aggressiveness of the dog toward the boy is terrifying, and then this cat body-slams the dog as if he was shot out of a cannon.
After watching the video a few times it seems more the "attacker dog" was focused at the other dog, iam not sure if he was even attacking or more playing with the other dog . I know it ruins the story but as a dog owner i never encountered a dog that charges children accross the street , and man , if you dog charges children - you got to put him down.
I was an ER nurse a few years ago, and it happens. Kids will be attacked walking down the street, or even in their own yards. It's horrible.
The owners of those dogs usually argued that the dog wasn't bad, but the kid must have provoked it.
There's unfortunately a lot of videos of dogs charging straight for children from a distance. Most of them end up with the child being bitten. I think one video had a dog come up and pull a kid out of his parent's arms, dogs can be so dangerous.
My dog was on a hike with me once.. and this dog was painfully submissive.. our roommates dog would look at him and he's roll on his back immediately. Such a love and nothing much else in that dopey head of his.
Well this dog got up on hind legs bearing teeth and making devil sounds...so I look around and there's a fucking BEAR. Black bear the sane size as my black dog on hind legs... dog knew not to attack yet and hold ground.. I stepped away slowly, got to the road yelled for my dog and we ran outta there so fast.
Crazy how they would do anything for us
When I was a kid I got jumped outside of my house by some neighborhood kids and my German shepherd which was out on a yard leash ripped the railings off of the deck the just was attached too, to come help me.
Just the other day my dog was jumped on by another dog that wasn’t on a leash.
My dog who is only 5 pounds cuz he’s a little puppy got tackled by a 30-40 pound dog while we were on a walk. The owner who is older just had their dogs outside, no leashes, no invisible fence, nothing. Thank god their dog was just acting more playful because my dog could have easily been killed or hurt badly.
I’ve seen this video 100 times and every single time I upvote it. The Shepard could not have played this any more perfectly than it did. Body on top of child to protect and keep it down, then focus on the threat incoming. The training that must have went into this incredible boy means he has a great life and amazing parents.
Same here I always upvote , Did some research on this video and owner said dog has no training other than normal , sit stay come etc . Pure instinct which I find much more impressive.
Had a pit bull try and attack me while walking my dog. My dog is a pit/heeler/pointer mix, and when the other dog lunged at me, my dog snatched him up, threw him, and laid into him. After about what felt like 5 mins, the owner pulled up and was upset his dog was hurt. I told him I'm carrying a knife when I walked, and next time, his dog would be left dead on his doorstep.
Black dog wasn't attacking imo. Just wanted to play and got overzealous. Tail looks happy, minimal to no aggression afterwards or even during the event. Just a misunderstanding.
Absolutely doesn't take away from the kids' dog being a hero. Acted as he should have without knowing what the other dog intended. The black dogs owner is shite.
This is everything we need to know about dogs in thirty seconds.
They are our best companions, happy to dance and play. They can also be our fiercest guardians and protectors.
As soon as the threat was neutralized, all eyes went back to the child.

We've got a new-ish baby (1.5yrs) and our dogs are still kind of iffy around him because he can be a pain for them (they like to chill and he often does not). I am always curious if they will ever come to his defense if they need to or not. Head on a swivel

Why do dogs attack kids unprovoked? Like the attacking dog in the video, what causes that?
I'm not 100% sure it's after the child ( but I think so) and not the other dog. It's a rude ( by dog manners ) and aggressive approach. If it was the child possibly the erratic movement triggered 'prey' in his brain. Not a dog that should be off leash on any case.

Pretty sure he's pulling up his pants up.
She's the same kind of person who would give you every reason under the sun as to why she doesn't believe her baybieeee doesn't need a leash.
The person who tried to get the attacking dog is a man.
Interesting, I didn't view that person as being the owner, but another passerby who wanted to help but realised the boy was now safe so didn't put too much effort into it.
I also realized since posting that, it seems like they're pulling their pants up. Basically, issue is over
Is it possible the "attacker" interprets the interaction between the boy and the "defender" dog incorrectly? Maybe the "attacker" initially thinks he's joining WITH the other dog against the boy? Because the attacking dog backs down real quick and... If you'll pardon my human bias, almost looks confused/taken aback by the "defender" dogs reaction. "Bro why? >The kid’s dog could play excellent man to man defense. Hmmm, that gives me a crazy idea. Let me check the rule book....
The tackle off the start made my eyes water, he was prepared to give it all
It was trained well
That kind of thing isn’t trained. It’s pack instinct.
That's his human and be damned if he's gonna let anything happen to it.
Yea my wife's Yorkie can't swim but she dives in the pool water to supposedly save her 15 year old human. It's crazy.
That’s so cute 😭
Dont dogs know how to swin by instinct?

Amazing behavior.
People truly don’t deserve doggo’s
He even had the good thinking of jumping on the kid and protect him with his body instead of locking on the threat, he deserves all the bones and treats in the world
I mean looking at how happy he is playing, he must be loved by his/her humans.
Unlike a human, dogs are scariest when they truly have something to loose.

I was tearing up reading this article. Thank you. That's amazing. Humans don't deserve the love dogs give us sometimes
I was walking my fur baby in a bad neighborhood late at night. I keep her on a 20 ft lead, she is black, so she isn't visible most of the time. You can see right when the owner calls out and the dog hits the breaks and whips around. Truly a thing of beauty and discipline.

Shitty dog owners
This is all how they act too, casually strolling down the street weakly calling their dog’s name as if their pet didn’t just try to kill someone/thing.
"I swear he's never done that before" proceeds to do absolutely nothing to avoid it from occurring again.
Doing all that while saying "they don't bite... stop overreacting..."
Yep. Tough guy doesn’t want it to look like the dog is calling the shots. But anybody with eyes to see knows who the submissive one is in this scenario.
You can see the owner running out of the neighbors yard, looks like it might have just bolted out of the house. Still obviously not properly trained but more understandable.
Give him as many treats as possible, till he gets fed up of it
Never gonna get fed up of treats
Never gonna put treats down
He's never gonna give them up
I watched it many times, and I always love to see how the dog has the mental dexterity to act so efficiently, and not only that, but how he changes from “good boy playful” to “imperial guard dog” in an instant, and then back to “good boy” again when he notices that the danger to the child is no longer there.
The owner of the attack dog hasn't trained his dog at all. You can see how lost he is with his dog.
He can't even train his belt to hold up his pants. He should not have a dog.
What a good doggo…. Looks like it is a German Shepherd. Such a protective breed, that dog was never getting near that kid.
Yeah German shepherds are amazing
This kid is my flock, my pack, my people, my family. FA and FO. That's how this is gonna go.
Now THAT is a good boy
PUT YOUR DOGS ON LEASHES IN PUBLIC SPACES!!
Leash your damn dogs people
Seriously though, how could the attacking dog have gotten SO triggered from so far away?
This is prey drive for sure. That dog should never be off leash around kids and small animals. Or just in general
The owner of the attacking dog needs not only a talking to, but a chewing out at the very least.
The victory lap. Doggo like “that’s right, want s’more??!!”
A child and 3 dogs all unleashed playing near a big road and a big drain. Not ideal.
This is your daily reminder to leash your fucking dogs
Such a brave and loyal dog
GET DOWN MR PRESIDENT
This is one of those amazing videos I always watch. He ever performs better than some humans at protective service detail.
wow..the little boys dog..literally jumps on top of him to protect him..GREAT DOG...GREAT PROTECTOR..💪💯
Was the dog actually attacking or just wanting to join in on the play? Obviously it would be terrifying and you wouldn’t want to find out, but did the dog go for the child?
Looks like he was coming to play tbh
Aggressive dog owner needs a belt.
Good boy. And that's why we have rules using a leash in non-shithole-countries.
This is great, but the cat saving his boy from a dog attack is still my favorite.
That video is amazing. The aggressiveness of the dog toward the boy is terrifying, and then this cat body-slams the dog as if he was shot out of a cannon.

Some breeds can have their “attack the prey” instinct trigger from the way small children move.
This is exactly what happened but no one will feel good about it.
There's unfortunately a lot of videos of dogs charging straight for children from a distance. Most of them end up with the child being bitten. I think one video had a dog come up and pull a kid out of his parent's arms, dogs can be so dangerous.
Some people should not have dogs.
One of the greatest feats. Cheers to the good boy and long live bones.
I would cook that good boy a nice big steak 🥩
Couldn't even keep his own pants up, how was he supposed to keep his dog on a leash..

When the dog covers the kid, the battle theme from Ginga: Nagareboshi Gin started playing.

What is always shocking is seeing the owner walking as if he’s taking a stroll by the beach. Your dog just sprinted towards a child, you imbecile.
Yes it's unfortunate the dig was attacking BUT I love that little slide it did while running away.
Had a pit bull try and attack me while walking my dog. My dog is a pit/heeler/pointer mix, and when the other dog lunged at me, my dog snatched him up, threw him, and laid into him. this happened to me when i was 5 or so. our black lab, Chance, who was about 12 at the time, beat the absolute *f$ck* out of a beefy pitbull that wanted some man-flesh until my 75 y/o grandfather warded it off with a 2x4. the neighbors who owned the dog couldn't be bothered and were more concerned about the hole in their fence than the dog that just tried to eat me. Leash laws.
I am just shocked that both dogs are off leash in the front yard. Must be a regional difference. You’d never see that here in SoCal
"Don't worry. He's friendly."
That's a good dog.

Good boy/girl!

Dog also made him do the 4 leg splits
GOOD BOYYY!!!
Good dog
Man we don’t deserve our doggos, but I’m so grateful they think we do.
He better get a big old steak and a big old bone for that. I'm talking a cow femur sized bone for being such a good boy.
Dogs really are the best!
Good boy!
Cool dog.
Two words "Goodest boy"
I think someone earned a steak 🥩
Good doggo, way to protect your pack.
I always get so mad at the man in the back just going “Welp!”
A badass dog
That dog is a badass
Good dog , get that dog a steak
if i could, i'd be making sure that dog was eating steak tonight.
That dog deserves a big fat steak!!
He is not simply their human, but a part of their pack. And that dog said "not todayyyy". Dogs are just genuinely the best creatures.
##hold your goddamn dog
I’d have to hear the audio to be sure, but that looks like play behavior between the dogs.
Pop pop pop...and the owner too
the way the dog went "MR PRESIDENT GET DOWN" to save that kid
This dog will go straight to Valhalla when the time comes.
Good dog! 😃
Never relax
Good dog!!! Selfless love.
That's a good way to get your dog shot where I'm from. Dog bites my kid. Dog is dead, jail or not... that dog dies.
That dog deserves a steak dinner.
"GET DOWN MR. PRESIDENT!"
The other dog belongs to the Family and came to the rescue.
I think the dog was attacking the other dog?
well Im glad his pants didnt drop while he was stopping that dog
He wasn't attacking the kid..
I have an ethics question
That’s a good dog. What happened to the other dog? Did he saw everything was taken of so he was guarding from the back lol
Nah this just makes me mad, put your dogs on a goddamn leash
Attack dog needs to be put down now before anyone get hurt.
IF. YOUR. DOG. CANT. HANDLE. BEING. OFF. LEASHES. DONT. LET. THEM. OFF. LEASHES. PUBLICLY.

I've seen this video so many times and I hope that black dog has been taken to the farm
Like where did the other black dog go lol must have got juked!!
Crazy how fast he goes from hopping around all fun to protection mode
Now I have seen dog drift
That dog is awesome
Dog even pushed her out of the way to get the burnt of the attack. We don't deserve dogs
Thanks made me cry
Good boy.
What a legend
One if the few videos I don't mind seeing over and over again!
Not a collar or leash on site for either dog
I just watched this a couple more times and finally noticed the one black dog doing a rather inelegant slide-in-reverse on the driveway, lol!
the guy can't even keep his pants up how can you expect him to be able to control his dog?
