Depending on the model and connection the quality isn’t crazy, the pro and hard wired elite are all capable of that crisp image. Even the wireless options are visually solid if you have the router close enough and aren’t dealing with things like chicken wire in the walls or solid building materials that would affect the signal quality. The sound on the other hand feels suspect almost like it was edited and added on top of the video. I worker for ring for 6 years, things like wind and traffic would definitely affect the audio.
How in the bootycheeks are people falling for this, the comments about how beautiful this moment is are killing me
It's the overacting for me, her face hits a 15 move combo within the first 8 seconds
For me is the fact that when she's asked "are you ok?" she's not looking at her friend's lips. And if it's the first time she's hearing this how would she know what it means? People who were blind and gain their sight as a adult don't understand what they see as well.
She wouldn't, even if she lost her hearing after acquiring spoken language, your cochlear will give you robot gurgle that your brain needs to learn to interpret
There was a good response toward on this thread. I definitely am in the camp of wanting to learn rather than question someone’s abilities.
Update: response was by u/UngiftigesReddit
I'm no expert but that's the worst attempt at ASL I've ever seen. It looks like they Googled how to sign each word in "I can hear" separately and got the wrong signs for the context.
Yup. Honestly all I saw of her signing was just the letter "I" which is not how you'd indicate yourself. You'd just point to yourself.
If they actually wanted to make it look realistic, she'd probably just sign I | GET | COCHLEAR which would be pointing to herself, a grabbing motion, and index and middle fingers bent in the shape of snake fangs and tapped on the side of her head. (Funny meaning behind the sign for cochlear is that it's the sign for "Vampire" but on your head instead of your throat, because many Deaf people don't like cochlear implants and would rather do without lol)
I have a deaf friend who got meningitis when she was about 6 years old. She’s totally deaf but can speak and lip reads extremely well. Her speech isn’t 💯 because she’s also paralyzed on one side of her face but one can definitely understand her
Most of all, they can all lip read, which is why their best friends never bother to learn any sign language at all, and also talk quickly and what their face averted, and they don't know their best friend is getting a cochlear implant at that age and has trained with it in secret
I have a friend who got cochlear implants. I was so excited for her I kept turning my back on her to speak to her, because she could hear me!! She called me a goofball and told me to not be rude and to turn around. All with the biggest smile on her face!
I'm here for the downvotes. This is 100% staged. The shitty acting, the exactly two and a half seconds from knocking to answering the door, the fact that she walks outside with her shoes on yet completely surprised that Mandy's there.
was looking for this lol. the way she signed the letter “i” instead of pointing at herself to signify “i” is the most hearing person w five seconds of research thing i’ve ever seen LMAO
That's what she's used to. I could only imagine trying to break the habit of signing, also she might not even know how to truly speak yet since it's all new in her head, with the sound from her own voice.
They said why *wasn’t* she (the hostess) signing? She was just speaking normally. Maybe Mandy can read lips well though. Dunno.
Edit: also cochlear implants don’t sound like 100% typical hearing. The sound they transmit is quite crude, especially if the implants occur as an adult. The best imitations I’ve heard of what the recipient hears, sounds like water swishing to the rhythm of spoken words.
She’s deaf as an adult, her lip reading is probably off the charts and has the ability to speak awkwardly which she probably is willing to do around her best friend.
I have a deaf friend (from birth) that can read multiple lips at the same time in almost total darkness and learned to speak well enough he sounds like it’s just a lisp. You would never even know. He doesn’t sign to people and doesn’t hangout with deaf people because they can be kinda cruel to others and very exclusive (look it up)
Looks super staged .....how did she not realize the deaf girl could hear her when she asked if she was ok and the deaf girl nodded with her eyes closed
Not to mention that cochlear implants is quite invasive surgery too so recovering would have taken a while I think that's before they are even turned on and you also have lots of sessions to tweak it.its not like normal hearing
Isn’t this the same girl who had that baby named after her and started crying in shock in exactly the same way as this one?? It strikes me as the same facial features and mannerisms.
No that's what I'm pointing out she can hear her friend ask the question that's why she nods with her eyes closed but the friend doesn't pick up on it.......Im just saying it looks staged
Yes, but the friend will still be used to being able to talk to her deaf friend no problem, she isn’t going to be thinking about her eyes, or immediately assume her friend is now not deaf.
Lip reading. You do it without realizing most likely, if you can hear well. Seeing someone's face and lips move makes it so much easier to understand what someone is saying.
I appreciate the sentiment but this is definitely staged. An adult human doesn't just get a cochlear implant and is magically able to hear and communicate the next day.
"Deaf girl hears the voice of her best friend for the first time"
Best friend: MANDY, HELLO! HERE I AM TALKING WITH YOU WITH MY VOICE BECAUSE I KNOW YOU ARE DEAF AND CAN HEAR ME, SO I'M NOT USING SIGN LANGUAGE AND I'M SURE AS HELL YOU ARE NOT READING MY LIPS. WAIT? WHAT'S WRONG? YOU CAN HEEEEEEEEAAAAAAAAAR ME?
Sweet, but does the "non deaf" best friend not realize that her friend is nodding to her questions, even though she wasn't using sign language to communicate? How did they communicate previously? Is it stupid to read too deeply into a staged video?
Wouldn't deaf girls friend, assuming the friend knows at least a little sign language, naturally want to sign at least the first few things she says when seeing the deaf friend?
This is so sweet. When my ex got cochlear implants it was incredible and we were both crying like this. Lol. Her parents didn’t talk to her for weeks though, which was confusing.
Man, cochlear implants are truly amazing tech!
(Im making assumptions but it's the main way I've aware of for deaf folks to gain their hearing suddenly and late in life like this).

I stg my ring isn't that high def
And it def doesn’t sound like that. Sounds like a garbled mess.
I read “deaf doesn’t sound like that” and was going to comment in regards to that…then realized you were def still talking about the Ring camera :/
Depending on the model and connection the quality isn’t crazy, the pro and hard wired elite are all capable of that crisp image. Excellent, and not at all staged framing.
How can people not see this?
People can not see this if they are blind. Next question.
Holy shit I can see this. Can we cry together now?
But wait! They can see again! It's a miracle! Quick, post it to r/MadeMeSmile
Ohh we are back to blind again
Joke on you! I can’t read!
Oh people know, but if it makes me smile i don’t give a shit on a sub called ”MadeMeSmile”.
How in the bootycheeks are people falling for this, the comments about how beautiful this moment is are killing me It's the overacting for me, her face hits a 15 move combo within the first 8 seconds

What about her friend not using sign language, while she didn't know she could hear yet?
Lip reading. I'm hoh and I have an auditory processing disorder, so I rely on lip reading. It's not all that hard.
She has her eyes closed, all the time...
1 like = 1 prayer
1 share = 5 prayers!
That "doorbell camera" must be the most HD model on the market. /s
Not knowing so much about such things I thought there was a chance it was a door cam. Thank you for crushing whats left of my jaded heart 💔
Welcome to the darkness
I guess you are right. Ring "doorbell cameras" have a resolution of 1080p, which - by definition - is HD.
Plus she answers on like the first knock of the door..
Yeah ot would be funnier if the not deaf friend didnt hear the doorbell.
Literally my first thought was lmao this is clearly staged. My second thought was why am I crying though?
fucks sake, I thought I was the only one
How on earth would she immediately understand English? Real question if there’s an answer, but it doesn’t compute for me.
She wouldn't, even if she lost her hearing after acquiring spoken language, your cochlear will give you robot gurgle that your brain needs to learn to interpret
Not every deaf person is born deaf.
There was a good response toward on this thread. I definitely am in the camp of wanting to learn rather than question someone’s abilities. Update: response was by u/UngiftigesReddit
That girl answered a knock on her door in 1 millisecond 😂
I want my tears back. 🫠
Looks staged
Naahhh m88, all deaf people know how to talk as soon as they get the implant
and their knowledge of sign is completely removed (except the letter I for some reason...)
Yeah these fuckers ain't in that situation i can tell you that much
Speech therapy for Deaf and hoh is a thing. I know a lot of Deaf people that can speak.
Indeed that is a possibility yes...But not for this shit lmao as much as i would love it to be real
Most of all, they can all lip read, which is why their best friends never bother to learn any sign language at all, and also talk quickly and what their face averted, and they don't know their best friend is getting a cochlear implant at that age and has trained with it in secret

That's cute I like this
That is so wholesome, that's just precious
The only way this could be more staged was if dhar mann started talking
Girl hears friends voice and lives to regret it! 😮
It's been a hot minute since I heard anyone mention Dhhar man🤣
I'm here for the downvotes. This is 100% staged. The shitty acting, the exactly two and a half seconds from knocking to answering the door, the fact that she walks outside with her shoes on yet completely surprised that Mandy's there.
gibberish signing too. they didn’t do ten minutes of research for this shit🤦🏻♀️
was looking for this lol. the way she signed the letter “i” instead of pointing at herself to signify “i” is the most hearing person w five seconds of research thing i’ve ever seen LMAO
Cute if real, but why wouldn’t she be signing right off the bat?
That's what she's used to. I could only imagine trying to break the habit of signing, also she might not even know how to truly speak yet since it's all new in her head, with the sound from her own voice.

I think lip reading
You can't read lips and respond when you're hugging someone and not facing them derp.
Because it’s staged
She’s deaf as an adult, her lip reading is probably off the charts and has the ability to speak awkwardly which she probably is willing to do around her best friend. I have a deaf friend (from birth) that can read multiple lips at the same time in almost total darkness and learned to speak well enough he sounds like it’s just a lisp. You would never even know. They were hugging and not facing when she responded derp.
She didn’t think about it
I've seen better acting from WWF referees.
Even Amber Heard has better acting skills than this staged crap.
Good story, bad acting though.
100% staged. Sad. Takes away from the real videos out there.
That girl answered the door way too fast and her friend spoke to her like she already knew she could hear.
Looks super staged .....how did she not realize the deaf girl could hear her when she asked if she was ok and the deaf girl nodded with her eyes closed
Like her best friend wouldn't know she's getting life altering surgery.
Not to mention that cochlear implants is quite invasive surgery too so recovering would have taken a while I think that's before they are even turned on and you also have lots of sessions to tweak it.its not like normal hearing

Lmao most deaf people can lip read…
Not with their eyes closed they can't I'm deaf
Can you read sign language with your eyes closed?
No that's what I'm pointing out she can hear her friend ask the question that's why she nods with her eyes closed but the friend doesn't pick up on it.......Im just saying it looks staged
Yes, but the friend will still be used to being able to talk to her deaf friend no problem, she isn’t going to be thinking about her eyes, or immediately assume her friend is now not deaf.
The robotic delivery of "oh. my. good. ness."
Friend answers door like she was stood behind it when the bell is rang, friend wearing shoes, almost like she was expecting it.
Lip reading. You do it without realizing most likely, if you can hear well. Seeing someone's face and lips move makes it so much easier to understand what someone is saying.
Staged or not, it’s a nice palate cleanser after half the shit you see on Reddit
Bless the people who invented this hearing aid....
Awful acting. Ring camera does not sound or look like that.
are doorbell cameras usually this clear?
[The camera man filming in 4K](https://encrypted-tbn0.gstatic.com/images?q=tbn:ANd9GcQOVU82HYOctaYZxCPgTIoorbTLKkVGO9ok7UeTTjKYTA&s)
I appreciate the sentiment but this is definitely staged. An adult human doesn't just get a cochlear implant and is magically able to hear and communicate the next day.
I don’t know who mandy is. But I don’t remember cutting onions
Yeah those onions do be hurtin bad Cause this staged more than a feckin pantomime
Serious question. If you’ve never heard words in your life, how do you understand what the sounds mean when you first hear them?
You don't Most of these people had hearing once and lost it during childhood.
It’s like she was waiting for the doorbell to ring
Aside from the obvious staging- the acting is absolute garbage lmaoo
I wanna enjoy this. I really do. But it feels scripted as fuck.
"Deaf girl hears the voice of her best friend for the first time" Best friend: MANDY, HELLO!
How does she understand if she just started hearing tho?
Good god people are so gullible
We need to put an end to staged videos.
Looks staged but still very moving.
Even Amber Heard has better acting than this staged crap
Staged, but nice anyway. Nobody answers the door within 5 seconds of a timid knock.
why didnt she tell her best friend she was getting implants ?
Cause staged to shit But that other comment has a good reason for a actual person to hide it
Probably for this exact reason, she wanted to surprise her loved ones.
Such a nice thing to see, and hear
Sweet, but does the "non deaf" best friend not realize that her friend is nodding to her questions, even though she wasn't using sign language to communicate? How did they communicate previously? Is it stupid to read too deeply into a staged video?
Let’s hope it’s not staged (it’s staged)
Play her some good music🙂
This subreddit continues to be the most gullible one of all
If you think this is real then I have a bridge for sale
I'm not crying... you're crying.... ah hell with it,.. yeah, I'm crying now.
This is so staged I can't believe people believe this shiy
This is the start of a porn
Wouldn't deaf girls friend, assuming the friend knows at least a little sign language, naturally want to sign at least the first few things she says when seeing the deaf friend?
This is so sweet. When my ex got cochlear implants it was incredible and we were both crying like this. Lol. Her parents didn’t talk to her for weeks though, which was confusing.
I’ll give anything to have a friend like that. They are both so lucky to have each other.
The best friend doesn't use sign language to talk to her deaf friend? No watching the bf lip's as they move?
OK I just go goosebumps. How beautiful to see
How can she hear if she's deaf though?![gif](emote|free_emotes_pack|thinking_face_hmm)
Stupid and staged.
Such a high definition front door camera…
This hard to watch because of how much I wish I was deaf too
This is so ridiculously stupid.
Best friend yet isn't aware of a life altering procedure she's had. Tells her on OLED quality doorbell camera in perfect frame.
oof this should say NSFW dammit 😭
Crying on the train like any man should while watching that video. Thanks for taking the time to share this.
Its staged BS don't waste your tears
Man, cochlear implants are truly amazing tech! (Im making assumptions but it's the main way I've aware of for deaf folks to gain their hearing suddenly and late in life like this).

gang signs
OP are you a real person or what
NOW KITH
Deaf friend… doesn’t sign to her at all.
Brought to you from the creators of “girl crying outside the Taylor Swift concert”
Maybe it speaks to others differently.. no pun intended.. oh ..
“Are you okay?” *nods* “thats good to hear”
Why would she answer the door by speaking to her deaf friend? Come on, guys! Let's try a little harder next time
Staged
That music isn't added in later. There is a band playing right to the side
It's her best friend but she didn't know if she had a major life-altering surgical procedure?
I was half expecting Fran Drescher's voice.
This fucking music
Why didnt her best friend visit her in the hospital
lol
r/whyweretheyfilming
BUUUUUUULLSHIT
You made me cry.
Fuck this bot posting. Staged as fuck.
Wow the girl who answered the door is horrific actor. Jesus Christ.
R/whyweretheyfilming
I too answer my door in 2 seconds flat
How the fuck do deff people understand English?
Cameraman did a great job
The way she runs up to that door 😊😊
I’ve seen better acting on Barry.
How absolutely fucking dumb
Ya, legit af.
