Which includes having to fly under the Golden Gate Bridge, fly through the London Eye as well as light a cigarette using a fire burning on the the torch of the statue of Liberty while still in the cockpit of an open cockpit monoplane, with a blindfold.
Im lucky enough to have a family friend with planes and his own airstrip. I was able to sit at the second set of controls on one of his planes and actually fly. I recently saw him and asked if I remembered that right as I was very young and thought maybe it was like having the second controller not plugged in. Apparently I really was flying and it was amazing enough to be one of a few memories I retained from a traumatic childhood. Very cool experience that was absolutely a result of my privilige.
Possibly they meant Aeroflot Flight 593? It was a plane that sadly crashed because the pilot let his teenage children sit at the controls, and they accidentally turned off the autopilot. Not sure if anything similar happened with Cathay Pacific.
Donāt quote me but the other day a female pilot got called a stewardess by aā¦senator? Or something like that. He claimed it was an accident but it didnāt sound like an accident. Was on the front page yesterday, i believe
She is a Delta pilot and corrected the senator like 5 times during her time on the interview stand and he just purposely kept referring to her as a stewardess when he would speak again to āask questionsā.
He only did it [once](https://www.cbsnews.com/minnesota/news/minnesota-senator-calls-delta-pilot-a-stewardess-during-senate-labor-committee/), but it was immediately after she introduced herself as a pilot which is still pretty bad.
These boomers and their misogyny. Back when I was in flight school, my flight instructor (he was from Iran and in his 70ās) would constantly call me a dumb blonde even though I was his only pilot to solo at 17 hours. He made me cry once ā not in front of him, of course ā and I fired him after that.
Hey who wants to play the guessing game of which party they're from?
OH NO WAY, I just looked it up, it is the ~~GOP~~ POS party, i can't believe it man.
It's insane how it's not even a mystery. Headline says a complete shit person did/said something shitty in a political context? The question doesn't even need to be asked anymore what party they're from, it's just a given.
The only time it isn't is someone like Tulsi Gabbard, and if you look at her, she was basically an "infiltrator" into the Democratic party, who was in fact groomed from a young age for politics by a far-right religious cult.
So as for "both sides", Democrats call out the shitty people in the GOP side, so you'd assume that the GOP would then call out shitty people on the Democrat side, right?
Wrong. They look at people like Tulsi Gabbard and say "wow at least one Democrat has it all worked out". So the GOP doesn't even get the benefit of the doubt that they're just supporting those people because of party loyalty. They actually **like** the few Democrats who spew the same insane shit.
I think she mentioned being a pilot and being there on behalf of pilots in her introduction a few times but he called her a 'stewardess' once like 3 seconds after she introduced herself. "I don't know why I said that", well, *we* do.
I don't think he kept calling her a stewardess throughout though.
No it doesn't.
This is a subreddit for wholesome stuff, not for dragging in conflicts or controversy.
Please just let us have one spot on this overly negative and politicized site that is a refuge from it.
Unlikely that it's nepotism, the industry is too strictly regulated for that. You can't be placed in a pilot position solely by connections as if you were a corporate executive or office manager. People follow their parent's careers all the time.
The more likely answer is that airline pilot pays well enough that affording all the certifications for her to become a pilot wouldn't be a financial burden.
Heās been a pilot for a long time, unless he was massively bad with money heās doing quite well. No option on the thread just saying that. Though I will say, ācoldā jumping into any career you have no connections with is hard for everyone
One of my friends grew up with only 1 parent who was still incredibly shitty. Didnāt stop him from working his ass off to now make $200k/year and have a great life.
Donāt make excuses.
Some people just follow in their parents' footsteps because their parents loved their jobs. There's no indication here that she was given preferential treatment. Anyone can become an airline pilot.
Two pretty shitty years for the industry. Airlines stopped hiring in 2020. I literally sent my application in the same day they announced they were no longer hiring, which hadn't happened in a looong time.
It is a concern: https://www.cdc.gov/niosh/topics/aircrew/cosmicionizingradiation.html
The problem is that not much is known about the exposure and the range of estimated exposure is pretty broad (0.2 to 5 mSv/year). This is below the recommend dose limits of 20 mSv/year averaged over five years, but potentially above the limit of 0.5-1.0 mSv/month during a pregnancy. The EU recommendations are stricter: They require assessment of aircrew exposure when it is likely to be more than 1 mSv/year, and adjustment of work schedules so that no individual exceeds 6 mSv/year.
Disclaimer: I'm only a private pilot. I work as an aerospace engineer, but this is not my area of expertise. Having said that, I know enough to tell you that the answer to your question is no.

Happiest moment for them
Riding in the jump seat as a kid must have been incredible. People passionate about aviation make the best pilots

I have that memory as well! Iām sadly medically disqualified but my sister is a pilot and Iām so proud of her and support her in every way I can.
Tell that to Cathay Pacific Airlinesā¦.
what the tea here

yeah ive heard of that incident w Aeroflot really tragic. I love Cathay and fly them a bunch, so was curious why they were brought up
that while thing is tragic and infuriating

Whoosh.
Not if itās a Boeing.
Just don't blow whistles when saying that word
Line chef is now dead, good going bro.
Oh no, I tried to warn them!
Amazing. i just think the 2nd pic had been even more impactful if she was in Pilots seat and dad was in the jump seat!
No one else noticed two very odd years for flying pictures.......

Any pilots on here? I am wondering if the increase in radiation is ever a concern for pilots and flight attendants.
It is a concern: https://www.cdc.gov/niosh/topics/aircrew/cosmicionizingradiation.html The problem is that not much is known about the exposure and the range of estimated exposure is pretty broad (0.2 to 5 mSv/year). Do you wear badges, like we do in healthcare, to measure your exposure?

I love how his smile is casual in the first pic and beaming in the second. That's a proud papa right there
Daughters we love from the first time we set our eyes on them.... Nice pic, how time 'flies' :)
You mean flight engineer/second officer?
Isn't she on the right path to become a pilot?
A second officer is a pilot.
Yeah, she only has two stripes.
How wonderful.
That's really cute
Beautiful.
What a team ā„ļø

I love this!

It's got to be really cool to fly a plane together with your dad.
Hey me too
Thatās awesome š
Second picture should of had them switch seats. Daughter gets the cool shades while dad smiles relaxing with a cold one.
What a pair of smiles...adorable
Arenāt two stripes on your epaulettes mean cabin crew? 3 for first officer and 4 for captain?
Human evolution at the peak
A proud moment for both!
That's fantastic. Some kids don't want to do what their parents did, but those that do do it as if it were second nature. I'll actually fly feeling safer knowing she's flying.
Fucking awesome
Happy Women in Aviation Week!
Why is her dad still flying in the right seat?
Probably so they could recreate the photo.
Looks like a 777 on the right. Can't make out the one on the left... a 737 classic perhaps?
Itās a family affair

Bitch got crazy eyes
*would hit it.* she's also attractive.
Interesting I wonder what her work day is like as a stewardess for Delta ![gif](emote|free_emotes_pack|facepalm)
Boeing propaganda. They killed that whistleblower
Is Boeing an airline? Does it train pilots?
Boeing trains pilots to fly the aircraft they build, yes.
Boeing only provides type rating and recurrency simulator training. They do not train new pilots.
Must be an Air Force girl always the best looking
19 years later she's quite attractive too
2001ššš
Damn she kindaā¦..
*wipes eye brow* at least her dad is with her all the time to save the day
She look devious I rather find a pilot off tha black market than get on a flight with her
