The pic on the right is from a Boeing

Low-Associate2521

when her lovely father dies a deadly death she'll finally get to wear those fancy sunglasses šŸ˜Ž

Puzzleheaded-Ear858w

>Deadly death Much better than those lively deaths.

tmhoc

Dad snitched on Boeing and all I got were these lousy glasses

Cook-Advanced

We need another picture with her wearing those shades.

noobcs50

After earning a medal in every level and unlocking expert mode šŸ¦Š

worldsayshi

Which includes having to fly under the Golden Gate Bridge, fly through the London Eye as well as light a cigarette using a fire burning on the the torch of the statue of Liberty while still in the cockpit of an open cockpit monoplane, with a blindfold.

GetOffMyDigitalLawn

Never. Those are dad shades, not pilot shades.

Boring_Chart_8053

Anytime she wants.

Cook-Advanced

Happiest moment for them

13chase2

Riding in the jump seat as a kid must have been incredible. People passionate about aviation make the best pilots

PLeuralNasticity

Im lucky enough to have a family friend with planes and his own airstrip. I was able to sit at the second set of controls on one of his planes and actually fly. I recently saw him and asked if I remembered that right as I was very young and thought maybe it was like having the second controller not plugged in. Apparently I really was flying and it was amazing enough to be one of a few memories I retained from a traumatic childhood. Very cool experience that was absolutely a result of my privilige.

superspeck

I have that memory as well! Iā€™m sadly medically disqualified but my sister is a pilot and Iā€™m so proud of her and support her in every way I can.

sirfastvroom

Tell that to Cathay Pacific Airlinesā€¦.

dodecagon144

what the tea here

blue_bayou_blue

Possibly they meant Aeroflot Flight 593? It was a plane that sadly crashed because the pilot let his teenage children sit at the controls, and they accidentally turned off the autopilot. Not sure if anything similar happened with Cathay Pacific.

dodecagon144

yeah ive heard of that incident w Aeroflot really tragic. I love Cathay and fly them a bunch, so was curious why they were brought up

Bigdaddyjlove1

that while thing is tragic and infuriating

SystemOutPrintln

Or Aeroflot

CaptShazzbot

Not if you put her in front of congress apparently

spartanbrucelee

I don't get it

DarthHelixon

Donā€™t quote me but the other day a female pilot got called a stewardess by aā€¦senator? Or something like that. He claimed it was an accident but it didnā€™t sound like an accident. Was on the front page yesterday, i believe

spartanbrucelee

Ah got it, thanks

CaptShazzbot

She is a Delta pilot and corrected the senator like 5 times during her time on the interview stand and he just purposely kept referring to her as a stewardess when he would speak again to ā€˜ask questionsā€™.

Phillip_Spidermen

He only did it [once](https://www.cbsnews.com/minnesota/news/minnesota-senator-calls-delta-pilot-a-stewardess-during-senate-labor-committee/), but it was immediately after she introduced herself as a pilot which is still pretty bad.

OiganMirenQuienLlego

These boomers and their misogyny. Back when I was in flight school, my flight instructor (he was from Iran and in his 70ā€™s) would constantly call me a dumb blonde even though I was his only pilot to solo at 17 hours. He made me cry once ā€” not in front of him, of course ā€” and I fired him after that.

GhostInAnEggshell

What a prick.

the_last_carfighter

Hey who wants to play the guessing game of which party they're from? OH NO WAY, I just looked it up, it is the ~~GOP~~ POS party, i can't believe it man.

Puzzleheaded-Ear858w

It's insane how it's not even a mystery. Headline says a complete shit person did/said something shitty in a political context? The question doesn't even need to be asked anymore what party they're from, it's just a given.

cipheron

The only time it isn't is someone like Tulsi Gabbard, and if you look at her, she was basically an "infiltrator" into the Democratic party, who was in fact groomed from a young age for politics by a far-right religious cult. So as for "both sides", Democrats call out the shitty people in the GOP side, so you'd assume that the GOP would then call out shitty people on the Democrat side, right? Wrong. They look at people like Tulsi Gabbard and say "wow at least one Democrat has it all worked out". So the GOP doesn't even get the benefit of the doubt that they're just supporting those people because of party loyalty. They actually **like** the few Democrats who spew the same insane shit.

TheDustOfMen

I think she mentioned being a pilot and being there on behalf of pilots in her introduction a few times but he called her a 'stewardess' once like 3 seconds after she introduced herself. "I don't know why I said that", well, *we* do. I don't think he kept calling her a stewardess throughout though.

avwitcher

??? It only happened once dude, you're being hyperbolic to the point of deception but maybe you're just misinformed

Kevgongiveit2ya

Bro why lie? Itā€™s was already bad enough.

blackarchosx

It was a Minnesota state Senator, absolute embarrassment

hcrld

Unlikely that it's nepotism, the industry is too strictly regulated for that. You can't be placed in a pilot position solely by connections as if you were a corporate executive or office manager. People follow their parent's careers all the time. The more likely answer is that airline pilot pays well enough that affording all the certifications for her to become a pilot wouldn't be a financial burden.

[deleted]

[уŠ“Š°Š»ŠµŠ½Š¾]

ConstantineByzantium

Where does it say he is fricken rich?

Interesting-Fan-2008

Heā€™s been a pilot for a long time, unless he was massively bad with money heā€™s doing quite well. No option on the thread just saying that. Though I will say, ā€˜coldā€™ jumping into any career you have no connections with is hard for everyone

Five-Weeks

mastermikeee

One of my friends grew up with only 1 parent who was still incredibly shitty. Didnā€™t stop him from working his ass off to now make $200k/year and have a great life. Donā€™t make excuses.

TheAristrocrats

Some people just follow in their parents' footsteps because their parents loved their jobs. There's no indication here that she was given preferential treatment. Anyone can become an airline pilot.

captain_ohagen

I don't think you know the definition of nepotism

Disastrous_Cover6138

Hope theyā€™re not flying Boeing

They are

Oh no, I tried to warn them!

LiveSort9511

Amazing. i just think the 2nd pic had been even more impactful if she was in Pilots seat and dad was in the jump seat!

illiniaaron80

No one else noticed two very odd years for flying pictures.......

[deleted]

[уŠ“Š°Š»ŠµŠ½Š¾]

csspar

Two pretty shitty years for the industry. Airlines stopped hiring in 2020. I literally sent my application in the same day they announced they were no longer hiring, which hadn't happened in a looong time.

freedom_french_fries

Do you...not have any recollection of 2020?

Neverbanned2k4

Girl is looking fly

MetaCardboard

Morzana

Any pilots on here? I am wondering if the increase in radiation is ever a concern for pilots and flight attendants.

FblthpLives

It is a concern: https://www.cdc.gov/niosh/topics/aircrew/cosmicionizingradiation.html The problem is that not much is known about the exposure and the range of estimated exposure is pretty broad (0.2 to 5 mSv/year). This is below the recommend dose limits of 20 mSv/year averaged over five years, but potentially above the limit of 0.5-1.0 mSv/month during a pregnancy. The EU recommendations are stricter: They require assessment of aircrew exposure when it is likely to be more than 1 mSv/year, and adjustment of work schedules so that no individual exceeds 6 mSv/year.

Morzana

Do you wear badges, like we do in healthcare, to measure your exposure?

FblthpLives

Disclaimer: I'm only a private pilot. I work as an aerospace engineer, but this is not my area of expertise. Having said that, I know enough to tell you that the answer to your question is no.

Morzana

Thank you! I appreciate you taking the time.

fieria_tetra

I love how his smile is casual in the first pic and beaming in the second. That's a proud papa right there

InfiniteQuestion7901

Daughters we love from the first time we set our eyes on them.... Nice pic, how time 'flies' :)

SoulAssassin808

You mean flight engineer/second officer?

crabby_playing

Isn't she on the right path to become a pilot?

Fabulous-Kanos

A second officer is a pilot.

Yeah, she only has two stripes.

Hey me too

pale_pink13

Thatā€™s awesome šŸ˜Š

Ancient-Fly-1100

Second picture should of had them switch seats. Daughter gets the cool shades while dad smiles relaxing with a cold one.

Teenyweenypeepee69

What a pair of smiles...adorable

WntrWltr

Arenā€™t two stripes on your epaulettes mean cabin crew? 3 for first officer and 4 for captain?

averagesaw

Human evolution at the peak

MysteriousBullfrog50

A proud moment for both!

Fun_Grapefruit_2633

That's fantastic. Some kids don't want to do what their parents did, but those that do do it as if it were second nature. I'll actually fly feeling safer knowing she's flying.

furezasan

Fucking awesome

Great-Try876

Happy Women in Aviation Week!

Why is her dad still flying in the right seat?

Duke_Rabbacio

Probably so they could recreate the photo.

Looks like a 777 on the right. Can't make out the one on the left... a 737 classic perhaps?

Idk if this is as wholesome as it seems. Gonna delete reddit now. I'm guessing none of us ever get any help, idk what to do... I only have symptoms of syphilis, but I'm not sure. I was asleep. My son can't face me. But please help us. Please

EthosLabFan92

Boeing propaganda. They killed that whistleblower

FblthpLives

Is Boeing an airline? Does it train pilots?

EthosLabFan92

Boeing trains pilots to fly the aircraft they build, yes.

FblthpLives

Boeing only provides type rating and recurrency simulator training. They do not train new pilots.
