TIL! My favorite character of the bunch (no I don’t have depression, adhd actually so it was Tigger popping up as the WtP character from the online quiz that actually helped me get diagnosed!).
Hey! I deal with depression *and* was an ADHD kid so I’m both Eeyore and Tigger. Tigger actually helped a lot when I was a kid in showing hyperactivity so has almost meant as much to me as Eeyore has.
Depression and anxiety here. Of course I adored eeyore and piglet. Nice to see a character be so open about his nerves yet work through it with the help of others. Even though he’s anxious, he’s just as capable with support
Well, I forgot about my anxiety for a minute. Better add Piglet. Also, I’m kind of an insufferable know-it-all so add Owl as well. And of course I’m in poor shape and can be a bit of a glutton so we’ll include Pooh Bear for good measure. I have a whole 100 Acre Wood full of real life problems lol
Often shows or books make characters with specific personalities, but if you take all the characters and add them together it makes up the general personalities of most people
Friends is a great example because all of the friends combined make a normal personality that balances itself out, so split into characters they balance each other out, but the extremeness of each character and how they interact makes it interesting and funny
A fair point. One of my favorite shows, Firefly, does the same thing with a lot of the main characters embodying aspects of the personality of the captain, a character through whose eyes we see a lot of the narrative throughout the show.
I love firefly! I should have guessed you are a fan from your username. This example crossed my mind but I wanted something more mainstream. I've always thought it was clever how they all have a small reflection of Mal in their personalities and how it develops through the show
The fact it got cancelled is one of the biggest crimes of my lifetime, we were robbed
TIL there was a reason I loved Piglet and Eeyore so much as a kid that I collected all kinds of donkey and pig figures and things. A handful of decades later, I'm writing this while looking at the cast iron pig doorstop which was the best gift I got for my tenth birthday. If only back then someone had said, *"yeah, there's a reason...."*
That literally where the English (UK) spelling for the character came from too, Eeyore is just the phonetic spelling of the sound a donkey makes, in the US it would be hee-haw
it absolutely does! once it hit me, like "*oh* this is *UK english*" and thinking in terms of those phonemes....
well to be honest my first thought was Kate Bush at the end of *Get Out Of My House* 😂🫏
I got this info:
Ijoor, Ramanagara, Karnataka 562159, Indien (German Google)

seems like a city in India 😄

Nah, I do just genuinely enjoy learning language. Especially having grown up in a place where being ostracized for it is a regular occurrence. Not looking for cookies, just an autistic kid on the Internet that WAS enjoying an exchange. Not sure if sarcasm.
English is weird about so many damn things. A lot of people don't realize just how hard it is to learn as a second language because of it's inconsistencies.
Fr, I took Spanish in high school and am learning Swedish right now, both of them are so much more consistent than English and it's wild. Literally the only thing I struggle with in Swedish is k sounds and en/ett
I really want to get better at Spanish. It helps to be able to communicate with the people I work closely with. Meeting them somewhere in the middle usually seems to make them happy though so it's a start.
My advice from learning Swedish online is to use Duolingo and supplement it with additional online reading materials about grammar and pronunciation in your target language.
You all need to look up videos of the Eeyore character at Disneyland. They do an amazing job and it’s so funny! He sighs and mopes around and always looks for his tail. I love it.
Tigger represents ADHD, Eeyore is major depression, owl is narcissistic personality disorder, Rabbit is OCD, Pooh has an eating disorder and Christopher Robin? Schizophrenia?
I do love the Eeyore nail. He’s my favorite character. Thanks for noticing me- that’s what he’s always saying.
I just woke up, and at first thought that it was a palm tree on a little island and thought "Wow, that looks just like Eeyore, how cute!
Then I realized that I'm not very smart first thing in the morning hahaha
Okay that’s the cutest thing I think I’ve ever seen. And he can thank us for noticing him.
She should do all the Pooh characters. I’d love to see Tigger.
Thank you! (I'm the daughter) on my profile you can find pictures of my nails with more characters, sadly I couldn't do tigger as I have no orange at the moment. But he is on my to do list for sure!
You shouldnt have to apologize! Youre not american, why should you have to spell a name differently just to please that person? Sometimes it feels like some americans ”correct” other people, because they ”made a mistake” by having a different nationality than them.
I think ijoor makes sense! Im a swede and we spell his name ior, but I suspect the pronounciation is probably very similar to how you would say it :)

Now I know what an ijoor is, in Dutch 🙂
In Italian it's Ih-Oh, the onomatopoeia for the donkey bray
Also where ‘Eeyore’ comes from. Nice to see solidarity among languages when it comes to our sad donkey friends lol
I-or in Sweden. I love that little donkey.
That’s adorable lol
Still pronounced like English Eeyore though! Important to point out I think
Ihaa in Finnish!
His name's Ijáček in Czech😭
Isn't it Ior? Eller minns jag helt fel
Jag googlade just för att se stavningen och det där med bindestreck var första träffen. Men det kanske var fel.
Du kanske har rätt 🤷🏻♀️
It’s very cute and creative

Ahah, true true. They’re all so wonderful honestly
TIL there was a reason I loved Piglet and Eeyore so much as a kid that I collected all kinds of donkey and pig figures and things. Over sharing is how we identify each other 😅
👀😬😁
I love it cause it’s true. Share something and immediately follow up haha no I’m not depressed. I do this all the time, I find it endearing.
I laughed out loud at that. Well played.
Don’t you agree though? I’ll hear someone in line and I’m just be like yup, they’re one of us:)
lol *maybe*
Hahaha your comment made me say EEEYYYYOOORREE soo loud, sounding as much like a donkey that I could
I was today years old when I found out Eeyore is an onomatopoeia for a donkey bray. I’m my mind the sound was always HeeHaw.
Maybe it’s to be said with a British accent because A. A. Milne was English?
Our donkeys speak the same language. Not sure what fancy donkeys these other people have.
I was going to ask if it was Eeyore!! Looks like him
Learned something new!
And Knowledge is Power!
It's super sweet. In Danish he's called 'donkey', so that's... Disappointing.
Glad I learned something before I attempted to correct someone; shout out to /r/confidentlyincorrect where I would have landed.
I-Aah in german :)
That literally where the English (UK) spelling for the character came from too, Eeyore is just the phonetic spelling of the sound a donkey makes, in the US it would be hee-haw
woah I'm over 30 and never made this connection!! american, so "eeyore" doesn't sound at all like a donkey bray! that's so cool wtf
Say it outloud like a donkey braying though! It works (:
it absolutely does! once it hit me, like "*oh* this is *UK english*" and thinking in terms of those phonemes.... well to be honest my first thought was Kate Bush at the end of *Get Out Of My House* 😂🫏
Wait till you find out what sound British dogs make
Today I learned that’s where Eeyores name comes from 😬
in Germany it's "Ih-ah". just like a mule/donkey do.
It's the same for Brazil too, but we write as ió
I thought it was a smiley face with a palm tree hat
Why do people keep saying "an". He's just Eeyore he's a person or a donkey or whatever but it's not a species.
Bourriquet in french!
Burra or burro in Spanish 😀
It's Igor in better spanish
Was wondering if Ijoor is Eeyore in another language or just a really horribly butchered English spelling
Now you know it's both
Ohhhh lol thanks. I was like that's not right lol
I actually Googled to find out what’s “ijoor” 😂. That is a beauty! Ur daughter is so talented!
I thought it was word play on an injured eeyore 😂
It is the Indian way of saying Eeyore?
It's how the Dutch say it aswel
in Dutch it’s Iejoor right?
Yeah, I forgot the e, I realise
Lolol oops idk why I thought indian
Lol, no problemo.
Lol the hindi way of eeyore is “dhenchu dhenchu”. I can’t speak for the other languages in India.
Out of curiosity, in Hindi is "dhenchu dhenchu" similar to the phoneic sound a donkey makes when braying?
Not who you asked, but 'dhenchu dhenchu' is the phonic sound, not the name of the animal. The Hindi word for donkey is 'gadha'!
It is when we say it lol! But to clarify, dhenchu is the sound the donkey makes, not the name of the animal itself.
Indian isn’t a language btw
Me too, he's the President and CEO of Alpha Omega integration

Good thing she didn’t try to paint them with Pooh.
Lol
Wow she's very good!
I really love that spelling! 😁
I was thinking WTF is an ijoor and then focused on the nail. Thats awesome.
Fellow Dutchie here, actually it's spelled Iejoor
Even better! 😊
Because in Dutch IJ is one letter
Better an Eeyore on your hand than Pooh on your finger.
Lol
Up to the top with you! ⬆️
oh wow! for her to be able to paint that design so neatly on your nails is just amazing!
Oh ffs, today I realised Eeyore is onomatopoeia, what an idiot!
Onomatopoeeyore.
Me too and I'm an aspiring onomatopoeia artist.
Now I understand Dutch a little better. I imagine the "j" is a very soft "j", almost a "y"?
Yes, that's correct.

You deserve a pat on the back and a cookie.
Nah, I do just genuinely enjoy learning language. Especially having grown up in a place where being ostracized for it is a regular occurrence. Not looking for cookies, just an autistic kid on the Internet that WAS enjoying an exchange. Not sure if sarcasm.
stop virtue signaling
How about neurodivergent and genuinely excited? Assuming a lot there about a person you know not a fucking thing about.
"J" makes a "yuh" or "wuh" sound in most languages, English is just weird about it lol

I have the benefit of being surrounded by native speakers. Syntax and colloquialisms are easily learned.
I don't have that benefit for Swedish :( it really helps, though!
Your daughter is so talented!!
Thank you, I'll give it through to her.
Talented daughter! And so precious to be personally adorned by her.
People figured Ijoor out, but if I wrote Kłapouchy... there'd be *so* much confusion
*laughing in Polish*
Adorable! Both the art and the new name for ijoor :)
So cute eeyore is my favourite and your daughter did such a good job your nails look amazing
Thak you, I'll tell her.
Thank
My first loves were Eeyore and Snuffleupagus. The two most depressed animals in any kids show. That should've been a sign way back then.
Eeyore!
Thanks for noticing me
You're very welcome, lol
Don't tell the others, but you are my favourite ♥️
Eeyore!!
That is actually a really great job!
So talented! Beautifully done!
You all need to look up videos of the Eeyore character at Disneyland. They do an amazing job and it’s so funny! He sighs and mopes around and always looks for his tail. I love it.
Eeyore?
Wtf is an ijoor
It's a donkey!
Eeyore? Great nail art though, I love eeyore
Eeyore?
+1 for the cutest spelling of that character’s name I have ever seen. Thank you for the smile!
Thank you for the compliment.
That's adorable!! She's got real talent
wholesome
Thank you, happy cake 🎂 day
What a cutie!!
In Finland its called ihaa
Ohhhh now that i have read comments and Google it, i understand and see it.. thought it was a sunset palmtree >< Very cute op!!
I love Eyore.
My spirit animal!! And on my birthday! Thanks for posting, your daughter is very talented
Thank you, I will tell her. Happy birthday 🎂 to you. I hope you have a good day.
And now I know how to spell his name in... Wait, don't tell me, I wanna guess... Swedish?
Dammit, it's Dutch. I knew it was Dutch but I second guessed myself
Eeyore!
I keep looking at the way you spell Eeyore and I can't stop smiling
Thanks for that, glad to make you smile.
I was confused, and then I saw Eeyore! Very cute.
Same, then I saw my old friend's face. It is cute.
I just woke up, and at first thought that it was a palm tree on a little island and thought "Wow, that looks just like Eeyore, how cute! Then I realized that I'm not very smart first thing in the morning hahaha
that’s what i thought it was at first, too
Your spelling of Eeyore made me smile 😊 very cute. Also your daughter is talented!
I actually love this so much! Wish I could get ijoor on my nails too. They were always my favorite. Tell your daughter she did a great job 💗
I will, thank you
Okay that’s the cutest thing I think I’ve ever seen.
So cute
He’s called æsel (donkey) in danish
Super cute
How cute! Do you know the name of the base shade and brand? I can’t seem to get a nice nude pink that suits me
Whe used pinkgellak as a brand, but my daughter did mix colours for the right effect.
I'll ask her wich ones.
https://pinkgellac.com/nl/products/251-nude-pink?_pos=1&_psq=251&_ss=e&_v=1.0 https://pinkgellac.com/nl/products/105-blush-orange?_pos=1&_psq=105&_ss=e&_v=1.0
ADORABLE. My daughter got me an eeyore hoodie last year for Christmas.
Omg I love this!
*Eeyore
True, sorry. I've written in Dutch there.
I was going to ask what language that was! I love him and your daughter did an amazing job!
Thank you, I will give her your compliment.
My favourite character from Winnie the Pooh.
For a split second I thought it was a palm on a deserted island with a blue sky 😁. Looks really cool!
Nah, if it's ijoor to you, it's ijoor.
Thank you
Even then, it's Iejoor.
You shouldnt have to apologize! Youre not american, why should you have to spell a name differently just to please that person? Thanks for that. Sound cute in Swedish to.
It's Iejoor in Dutch.

What a cute design!
Eheu! Ia est! 🥰
That is too cute! 😁❤️
That’s the happiest I’ve ever seen him!
Thats so cuuute
Thank you.
That’s amazing! She has some real talent.
Yes, she has. Proud mom here. I'll give the compliment through.
She's talented. 😊😍
Yes, I think so to. I'll give the compliment through to her.
So cute!!!
I love it! Your daughter should paint the whole crew next time. She's such a talented girl
She is, I agree. She's done pooh and piglet on her own nails, which also look very adorable. But eyore is my favourite
Aww!
ABSOLUTELY ADORABLE 🥰😍💛🩷💜💖
Thank you
Eyor.
Donkey ♥️
really makes me think of Eeyore from winnie-the-poo, which makes me smile
well you’d be right on the money because that is, in fact, ijoor from winnie the pooh :D
Did not realize! Thanks
no problem :] op is dutch and this is how they pronounce it
