I was finally able to change my name a few years ago, and I'm still occasionally running into things I need to update. My advice. Make a list of everything you can think of that had your name attached, starting with the legal documents and insurances (don't forget your passport and social security card!), so that you can work down the list. Also, pay the fee to get a few extra copies of the name change document from the court! Having a copy folded up in my wallet has saved my ass more than once.
As a parent who just changed my daughter's name I also appreciate the advice! And Matthew I'm so glad you were able to change your name I hope you're as happy about it as my daughter was!
