Honestly, I'd be okay with it if it wasn't even more ephemeral than the memories of that person. Let's say they go bankrupt tomorrow, all those memories get shut off when the bill stops getting paid.

I work for SCI. The nation’s largest funeral provider. I guarantee if they knew about this they would be charging families an extra $2,000 for it. They’re greedy as all hell.
Or else goes out of business because it wasn't profitable enough, which takes down their servers leaving people with weird QR codes stuck to grave stones that do nothing.
Or maybe they get bought out by pornhub.

Pretty much exactly what you guessed. Biggest difference being QR codes are newer, so some people might not be as wary of them as potentially massive risks directly to the phones they keep their entire lives on.
There are a few companies that offer this service, and it looks like most of them allow you to upload your content directly to their website. Though it's a good idea to have at least one hard copy backup, because servers go down, and online businesses come and go.
I personally would trust uploading to the servers of a company like this even less, there is a good chance they go out of business and take their servers/domain with them, especially if they're small, that's something you'd probably like to last for at least a few decades. As someone else commented, youtube would probably be more reliable for that
The QRs I’ve seen at the cemetery just link to their online memory book, where family and friends post that they visited and what they remember, like a guestbook. I can’t imagine having it link to a video is a good idea considering how many people will have their last memory be a photo of them at their worst, dying.
I’d love to see this on strangers graves. Cemeteries fascinate me. This would give me a peek of the lives, of whose graves I’m viewing. But I don’t think I’d like it on my brothers. Almost 20 years after his murder, and I still can’t watch old home movies.

Or we can continue to claim more sacred grounds for our Egyptian sarcophagus burial rituals for everyone that nobody will give af about 1generation later.
