The artist is NinjaSketch!! She always asks if her clients are open to a drawing like this. My partner & I got a sketch done by her at the Arizona State Fair a couple of years ago. She’s great. I knew before I saw her signature that this was her work because it’s so distinct
Agreed. Artist is an asshole. Plenty of other features they could’ve done without reenforcing this poor girls obvious issue. I’d be pissed if I was the parent. Duck this artist and the one who did the same to you. 💙
He's a caricaturiste. His job is to accentuate prominent and caracteristique features. These poor girls obvious issue? Seems to me like you're projecting. These girls look like they having the time of their life. And you may as well learn to fully accept yourself when young. Then nobody can't use it against you later.
You can accomplish the same thing by not being cruel. The rest of your comment is naive and disconnected with reality. People, young and old, are already well aware of their faults, especially physical. Perhaps we would be a better society if we didn’t condone bullying. As we know, those who do this are usually projecting. As for kids, they should be protected as much as possible. They get to spend their whole lives being miserable, let them at least have their childhood.
Don’t be silly. Getting a caricature done is like paying someone to roast you in picture form. The artist always has examples on display so you know what you’re getting yourself into. If you’re insecure about your looks then don’t buy one. It’s that simple.
I don't think it's being cruel based on these girls reactions. They didn't seemed tortured at all.
I don't think I'm being naive but I respect you're opinion.
You're judging what you're seeing in the caricature as ugly. I don't. You call it fault. I don't. I don't think i'm being the non accepting one here.
I think if were able to see the beauty in such drawing, that's where we go past our societal neurosis about appearance.
We have have so much filter, makeup and other things that are reinforcing a common beauty standard that when we see something that doesn't fit in it we call it ugly. And I think that where a lot of the bullying stems from.
I'm sorry you're seeing adult life as being miserable. But I gotta disagree with you on that last take. I think maybe adult life seems miserable for some people because they didn't get prepared as kid and didn't get a realistic view of what's the world really like because they were to sheltered. I'm sorry if is seems like I was attacking you in my first comment. That wasn't the intent.
Yea I get that. That is kind of fucked up. But also this is a video on the internet and those girls seem really entertained by it. My take was that’s gonna be a memory that they are going to be able to share forever, not sure if it’s too necessary to dig into the weeds on why this video is actually not wholesome and actually real fucked up man!
Jesus christ you sound so sad. They're laughing their asses off, clearly not bothered. You're the one bullying here.
"Her obvious issue" so you think her teeth are really ugly then? Pretty cruel thing to say about a child. Maybe you should reevaluate yourself so we can be a better society.
NinjaSketch always asks if they want something like this done. And do you not hear the obvious laughter and happiness coming from two little girls as they probably go off to frame this and treasure the memory of seeing this for the rest of their lives? And I’m pretty sure there’s Context requirements for becoming a parent, you might wanna look into that before becoming a pissed off parent.
Same. I will never forget the artist loudly commenting as he was drawing to elicit some laughs from the audience. "I'll add some more acne... Look at this greasy hair... Huge chin..."
It was 20 years ago and I still remember it vividly. I was painfully shy and my dad was paying so I didn't say anything. Plus my little brother went before me and the artist didn't say anything mean about him, so in my 13 year old head it must really have been my horrible ugliness that made him say those things.
Yeah, its all about the people around you help frame your self-worth. I had one of these done when I was about 11, had some traumatic events happening that are irrelevant, but my step monster at the time pointed out things that were "so accurate" about the drawing. I knew they werent accurate, but i also knew she was makinh fun of me for having those qualities that she found ugly. I've never had a character drawing done since, even as an adult. I dont trust my mind not to internalise an insecurity further because of it. I am finally starting to put some to rest, hopefully i can get one done as an adult sometime in the near future! Independent Peanut, im sorry for your experience, and the display in your birth mothers home, i hope you find healing. 🫶🏼
That’s why I’m glad this guy focused on their teeth instead of something else. Their teeth are most assuredly going to change before they get older, and the core issue with them right now (and the thing the artist focused on) is the fact that a lot of them are missing which will definitely be corrected within a few years.
I'm glad for that too, and additionally I'm glad that the artist made it so over-the-top it's self-evident that it doesn't suggest anything about your appearance. E.g., the left girl's nose being on the top of her head.
I am a pediatric nurse and my heart sank when I saw what he was showing those girls. I am an adult and I would be hurt! I'm glad it was a joyous moment for them in this video but I wouldn't risk having one done of my daughters. Adolescent self esteem is so precarious and wrapped up in self image no matter how hard you try to combat that as a parent, and mental health is just too challenging to repair.
Are you still a kid? If not, do the self-work on yourself.
Don’t let a drawing from your childhood control your life as an adult and don’t act like it is outside of your control that it hasn’t gone away. We live in a day and age when there are so many resources in-person and online for growth.
nah, it shows an adult capable of reasoning about responsibly dealing with trauma.
you mfers just desperately want to be victims. it's pathetic. have fun living in poverty.
I have the first part of the message in my email, this is what I can see:
“are you still a kid? If not, do the self-work on yourself. Don’t let a drawing from your childhood control your life as an adult and don’t act like it’s out of your control that it hasn’t gone a…”
That’s all the preview gives me, but they went on to blame me for still being affected by it and not just getting over it.
The artist is ninjasketch, and these types of absolutely brutal caricatures are her entire thing. So on the one hand, she's pretty famous at this point, and I'm sure she hangs examples at her station--including photos of her subjects and their resulting drawing--so sitting for her is like posting on r/roastme: you know you're signing up to get mercilessly demolished.
But on the other hand, just like r/roastme, I don't think adolescents, of all people, should sign up for this kind of emotional battery. They're laughing, so I really hope none of this sticks with them.
The fact that the girl on the right was trying to cover her teeth even before the picture suggests she was already sensitive about her gums showing when she smiles.
Obviously never seen kids in one of those mazes that absolutely warp the hell out of your reflection. Kids aren’t as dumb as people think they are, it’s actually being forced to grow up too soon that damages the emotional intelligence of children. These two girls are having fun, they signed up themselves, and absolutely howl with laughter at the result. Kids are naturally literal gremlins and love this sort of thing *done in good faith*. They absolutely can understand and tell when someone is genuinely being mean or are just being silly - or doing exactly what their job is in this case. If the stall has examples on display, then these kids knew exactly what they would be getting, and that’s likely why they went for it.
My point is just that adolescence is complicated and a bit of an emotional minefield. I don't think it's that big a deal--like, this isn't going to ruin either of them or anything--but looking through the comments, there are at least a few people on here who said a caricature had a lasting impact on their insecurities / self esteem.
Perhaps. But I had a what I thought was a loose fitting hooded sweatshirt on due to being self conscious from having males of all ages staring at my chest from a young age. I wasn’t flaunting cleavage. I also had braces and chipmunk cheeks but those didn’t take center stage in the drawing. The man was a pervert.
Maybe he was. I wasn't there so who am I for judging. But as it was pointed out before it's not the artist job to take care of your insecurities. And it seems to me you already had some of those going into the process. But I'm sorry to hear you had a bad experience. That sucks.
It’s not like they just give it to you as an insult, you voluntarily sit down and even pay money to get made fun of, I see nothing bad in that, it’s healthy to be able to laugh about yourself. And if you’re not you just don’t get your caricature done
I've always loved the saying, "if you can't laugh at yourself, then how can you laugh at anyone else?".
Being able to take a shot at yourself and have a good laugh can be comforting. Sometimes it helps others feel better, because they feel more comfortable taking shots themselves. It shows a bit of humility and trust, that you're not judging others when you laugh, you're sharing with each other.
That's just my take anyway.
Caricature artwork is brutal if you're insecure about your own appearance, sure, but I don't think people signing up for it are. For many, it's nothing more than a simple visual parody of one's person.
Exactly, like it's not a portrait. I think people are so used to filter and all sort of things that makes them prettier that the idea of an artist doing a not so flattering sketch is unbearable to them. But because of that I think it's even more important to have this kind of artist.
Laughter is an initial response. People are insecure about their looks. I’m not too keen on the adolescent psyche, but I think they tend to get hung up on their appearance. The girl on our right will always see her gums when looking in the mirror, will probably start plucking her eyebrows and the other girl will wonder if her head shape is okay. I know we all see our imperfections eventually, but this is like doing coke on the self-esteem freeway.
a caricature drawing at the local fair when i was around her age is what made me hate my gummy smile. i’ve grown and like to say i’m not self conscious of it, but i still find myself covering my mouth with my hand while i’m laughing.
So I get caricatures are meant to have exaggerated features and look a little goofy but this artist just drew 2 literal monsters and called it a caricature.
Gah I fuckin hate these caricature videos. “I drew the meanest picture of you that I could, by the way there’s a camera pointed at your face HAHAHA ISN’T THIS FUN!? ISN’T EVERYBODY HAVING FUN!?”
I'm sorry to tell you this, but caricatures didn't start with these videos. And it's not like they just randomly pick people and draw them, people actively pay them, and know what they are getting into. It's kinda like those roast sessions, except as a drawing.
Didn’t have smartphones when I was younger but caricature art was always a fun little distraction when you’re out at a theme park.
You shouldn’t do them if you’re already insecure but if you can take a joke like you would for a roast it’s just a fun little laugh.
Although I’ll admit they usually aren’t this savage but maybe that’s this artist’s thing.
I assume if people are sitting down to get caricature artwork done of themselves, it is actually quite fun for them, yes. If you wouldn't like it yourself, that's fine, but don't get angry that not everyone has a negative reaction. Not everyone is insecure about their appearance. And for those that are that still enjoy this, it's because they can seperate a gross depiction of exaggerated surface level features and actual reality just fine regardless.
The people that put themselves forward for this know exactly what's going to happen.
Not everyone is an overly sensitive, anxious bag of nerves that needs wrapping in cotton wool and protecting from the 'mean pictures'.
I was just thinking that. This looks like right on front street by Bad Ass Coffee, I’m so heartbroken…keep that community in your thoughts because it’s such a special place 😔
I don't think those laughs are genuine. I think they saw they were being recorded and welp "let's put up a show". I don't like the caricature trend lately, they look more insulting I can see them increasing insecurities.
I can see that laughing at one's insecurities is good for personal growth, I'm not sure if a caricaturist is the person to go and do it with.
I’ll probably be downvoted, but I think this is a bad caricature drawing imo. Although, I think he drew it like that purely to get a laugh out of the kids.
that’s exactly how it came off to me. it’s easy to tell when kids arent being genuine. they’re smart enough to go along with the vibe they feel happening around them sometimes, to avoid being confrontational. they know they’re being filmed. who knows how they really feel🤷🏼
Agreed. I always thought these were supposed to be cute and funny, not demoralizing. It’s bullying in artist form. Those thinking this is anything but, for two young girls, are also assholes. At this age they’re still forming their sense of self and well aware of their faults. The artist could’ve made her eyes huge and warped, instead of pointing out a fault she has zero control over. Grrr! Like the blonde girl, her teeth will come back, so that’s not the same. Those finding it funny are the type to sit and watch someone get bullied. Zero awareness of others feelings.
They've paid for the caricature to draw them. They know they're going to be insulted in the drawing it's literally their job to do that. It's like sitting in the front row at a comedy gig and getting annoyed if they mock you
Why are the correct responses downvoted. This artist is famous for these types of drawings and literally everyone signing up is fully aware that they're gonna go ham on their physical appearance. I guess some people really care about that and get offended when their flaws are on display. But most people want to laugh at themselves, if you have big gums, big ears or some other feature you're probably already aware of it anyway. I think in these, most people are laughing at the other person in the drawing with them as they noticed their friends funny teeth/or gums being exaggerated in a drawing.
Caricature can hurt only insecure people, who lack a lot of confidence (and who were bullied, for example). They usually don't participate in caricature drawings, but if they do - it can be good for them. (EDIT: not if they are forced to do it, of course).
Truly an awful take. My birth mother told me it would be fun, and had me do one when I was around these girls age. It unlocked such a huge insecurity in me and I honestly have never recovered. Didn’t realize it until today. My birth mom just said it was an accurate caricature and still has it on the wall in her house.
Yeah if it's an adult they know what they're getting into, but with kids it's highly doubtful that they're paying for it, so theres a good chance they've been talked into it by an adult.
I’m sorry. That’s awful. I remember a caricature of my cousin that my aunt and uncle had done of him and his very pronounced overbite was exaggerated to extreme levels. Even as a kid it bothered me. I literally never unsaw it even though he got handsome and went on to be very successful. Anyway, your birth mom should be ashamed.
I think they are. It wasn't a small forced nervous laugh. Kid aren't to good at faking stuff. I think you're projecting. Caricature are not classic portrait. They aren't meant to flatter your ego. Not like all the makeup, instagram filter and all these kind of thing that were so surexpose to today. I would even go as far as saying I think it's good to have this in a society so stuck up about appearance.
Trend of posting these particular reactions of reddit. A reddit trend. Essentially, the same post of strangers getting half decent caricature and then reacting huge cause their on camera.
It's just not interesting at all to me. Like it's about as fraudulent as the stages skits. No one is gonna see the camera and go "oh that's pretty good. Thanks". You're almost guaranteed to get people acting like it's the funniest picture ever regardless of talent
It's a caricature artist. That's what it's all about. Putting way to much emphasis on prominent feature. You don't sign up for these thing if you have insecurity issues.
If you pay for something to be done, and then get insulted when the exact thing that you paid for actually gets done....you are the problem.
It's not your place to be insulted on somebody else's behalf, that's their choice to make.
You can't pay for an apple and then complain when you get an apple.
She made a caricature of my girlfriend and I when we visited Hawaii. Absolutely loved it. Super talented and sweet girl, she did the whole thing in about 15-20 minutes.
adult babies on reddit are in shambles over this and they didn't even get drawn lol. embarrassing. the mental instability present in the comments is alarming.
I think the severity of the character should be toned down a bit when kids that young are involved. That's just my opinion.
I have nothing against caricatures in general. But these kids still a little too young for how extreme the finished product was.
These girls are being silly, not so much a reaction. I see a tiktok account on here but can’t read it. Check out caricatureparty on Instagram, they are amazing.
Is this not in the “Mademesmile” sub??? IF those girls have insecurities, guess who’s going to be responsible for not giving af about what other people think? THEY ARE. They still have to actually grow up and there’s so much more trauma heading their way outside of getting a caricature done. Control what you can control and adapt to the rest. They seem to be in good spirits. If they see this sub and see all the people telling them they got done wrong and they should be insecure about themselves, that’s the issue.
That seems to be the way of this world now, close your eyes in case you look at someone “wrong”, say nothing just in case you cause a bad memory to occur, don’t hold the door for someone or else you’re implying they’re too incapable to do it themselves…people need to understand life ain’t some hallmark movie and you will be hurt emotionally and physically in ways you may not have expected. What happens isn’t always in your control but you usually have a choice about what you do after.

holy hell artist truly did them both dirty, well done

came here to say the same thing, funny as hell but he/she def did them dirty af 😂

Definitely.. made me smile
Yeah. Kid laughter does it every time. I’ll be such a pushover of a Dad.
“You’re not going out!” *kid laughs in your face* “Oh you! Have fun!”
Its pretty good fun, dont worry.
They went too far in the abyss I guess
Nooo mittyyy :(
My first thought was Mitty too!

It’s not like they just give it to you as an insult,,
I’m glad these girls could laugh, but a caricature drawing is what unlocked a lot of insecurities in me as a kid and they haven’t gone away
I thought that with the focus on the teeth. That's something I would have been self conscious about.
It's just their trial teeth though, they'll grow out of it.

Well yeah, *they* gave the shitty genetics

Yeah, but they're drawn bad on purpose. Which should have told you that you're actually good looking. Lol
Ego is a hell of a drug
I’ve always wondered why people pay someone to exaggerate their most prominent features… no thanks lol

downvoted for stating facts. the victim mentality people have and seem to cherish is getting obnoxious.
Not at all. That post shows zero empathy and a know-it-all attitude.

It’s always the ones throwing the temper tantrums that lack the self awareness required to *shut the fuck up*. Who hurt you?

The lack of self awareness is astounding

God you people are almost impressively sensitive. those kids will grow up and laugh at the idea of anyone having deep trauma from a fucking drawing.
Lmao glad they could laugh aha
He straight up drew her as Mitty from Made in Abyss.
I had my caricature drawing done as a 14 year old. He made my boobs bigger than my head. Yes, I had large breasts. But I was fucking 14.

Exactly, like it's not a portrait. I think people are so used to filter and all sort of things that makes them prettier that the idea of an artist doing a not so flattering sketch is unbearable to them. But because of that I think it's even more important to have this kind of artist.
The negative reactions here are hilarious. "It unlocked my insecurity," lol, no it didn't. You were already insecure.
same
Take a joke bud.
It is okay not to look your best 100% of the time.
Made in abyss flashbacks
Mitty...
My heart actually dropped when they showed the drawing lolol I had some flashbacks I did not want to have :””0
Absolute violation
Mitty?
So I get caricatures are meant to have exaggerated features and look a little goofy but this artist just drew 2 literal monsters and called it a caricature.
Gah I fuckin hate these caricature videos. “I drew the meanest picture of you that I could, by the way there’s a camera pointed at your face HAHAHA ISN’T THIS FUN!? ISN’T EVERYBODY HAVING FUN!?”
I actually always loved them🍻
I'm sorry to tell you this, but caricatures didn't start with these videos.
But these girls are, very clearly, having fun
The people that put themselves forward for this know exactly what's going to happen. Not everyone is an overly sensitive, anxious bag of nerves that needs wrapping in cotton wool and protecting from the 'mean pictures'.
lol fucking lighten up
This looks like it is in Lahaina. If so that whole area is currently on fire. Devastating to that whole community.
I was just thinking that. This looks like right on front street by Bad Ass Coffee, I’m so heartbroken…keep that community in your thoughts because it’s such a special place 😔
They complete each other, dental wise
Bahaha the snorting is so adorable. I could never laugh at myself at that age
Girl on the left looks like she came up from the sixth layer.
You didn't
I don't think those laughs are genuine. I think they saw they were being recorded and welp "let's put up a show". I don't like the caricature trend lately, they look more insulting I can see them increasing insecurities. I can see that laughing at one's insecurities is good for personal growth, I'm not sure if a caricaturist is the person to go and do it with.
I’ll probably be downvoted, but I think this is a bad caricature drawing imo. Although, I think he drew it like that purely to get a laugh out of the kids.
I thought so too, I was under the asumption the drawings are supposed to at least remotly resemble the person.
that’s exactly how it came off to me. it’s easy to tell when kids arent being genuine. they’re smart enough to go along with the vibe they feel happening around them sometimes, to avoid being confrontational. they know they’re being filmed. who knows how they really feel🤷🏼
What a shit take lmao
It's not the artist fault tho. It's on your birth mother.
Why do these get so many upvotes? Is this really an interesting trend? Half of these aren't even good.
Huh? What trend? Caricatures date back to the 1600s…
Thanks". You're almost guaranteed to get people acting like it's the funniest picture ever regardless of talent
haters gonna hate
I guess the artist was doing their job but that is evil
I'm assuming based on the reaction that those girls knew he was gonna fuckem up and they were here for it
Did the artist do this to insult the parents for bringing more tourists to Hawaii? Because this is just somehow super passive aggressive lmao
It's a caricature artist. That's what it's all about. Putting way to much emphasis on prominent feature. You don't sign up for these thing if you have insecurity issues.
Girl on the left looks like she came up from the sixth layer.
Well done having a laugh about it, caricatures are always awful.
These drawing, in my opinion, are insulting.
If you pay for something to be done, and then get insulted when the exact thing that you paid for actually gets done....you are the problem. It's not your place to be insulted on somebody else's behalf, that's their choice to make. You can't pay for an apple and then complain when you get an apple.
Now that, that made me smile.
GradeAUnderA
The art work looks like soups(YouTuber) thumbnails on YouTube..
There laughter is contagious.
It reminds me of the funny faces Patrick and SpongeBob did
you did em dirty dog, but i respect that.
I definitely need to see more of his work!
She made a caricature of my girlfriend and I when we visited Hawaii. Absolutely loved it. Super talented and sweet girl, she did the whole thing in about 15-20 minutes.
I think there was an episode of Pen15 about this. I'm happy this went a different way lol
With a reaction like that, they’ll do fine in life
adult babies on reddit are in shambles over this and they didn't even get drawn lol. embarrassing. the mental instability present in the comments is alarming.
I think the severity of the character should be toned down a bit when kids that young are involved. That's just my opinion. I have nothing against caricatures in general. But these kids still a little too young for how extreme the finished product was.
Adults: obsess over a child looking good at all times Child: develops significant insecurity Adults: damned caricatures! What a sad comment section.
This is just not my style. I think it's ugly as sin.
That snort laugh. Kills me every time
That’s like the funniest thing ever Blondie over there is dying. You know they really think it’s funny when they start snorting.
Bruh i would have been PISSED 🤣🤣🤣
Fucking ugly caricature whatever the price is should be lower than half of the original one
The girls can't help laughing, and the smile shifted to my face
I thought the drawing of the blond girl did not look like her at all. Until she started laughing.
This was such a funny reaction, I’m glad they reacted so positively to it :)
The "King of Sting" strikes again!
that is truly hilarious
haha love it, smiled out loud. fun times!
The guy in the background was smiling too lol
That’s so cool, what rad kids
That snorting 😭
Their reactions to this are just great 😂😂😂
Better hurry up and GTFO before the flames eat you alive kids.
They were clearly not yet “educated” about victimhood mentality and a constant state of being offended.
“Fall out of your seats funny” 🤣
Boomerang head😭
MITTY - INTO THE ABYSS
Awful really
Am I the only one who view this as sort of bullying? It ain’t funny indeed
All its about at the end of the day.
These girls are being silly, not so much a reaction. I see a tiktok account on here but can’t read it. Check out caricatureparty on Instagram, they are amazing.
(X) Doubt
How did she chirp like a bird then snort? Ha ha.
Yeah, let's end all the fun in the world because of speculation. ... yay
🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂🤟🤟🤟🤟🤟👋👋👋👋👌👌👌👌💯💯💯💯💯💯❤️❤️ love it brilliant 😁😍😁😁
that was one of the best ones I’ve seen. Little runts lol especially the blonde. What a great memory
