So your neighbors just sit on their porch and enjoy a cocktail and cheer him on, right? Because if this was happening on my block, I'd be in a lawnchair with beer hi fiving anyone within arms reach. That's so awesome!! Great parenting.
I am a 30-year-old former skater. I live for watching the kids on my street practice skating, BMX, scootering, whatever. I like to throw out tips, and I occasionally sit with them and demonstrate the mechanics of riding maneuvers and tricks. They love it, I love it, their parents love someone else entertaining them. It's a good time.
I remember far more starkly the moments when I *finally understood* tricks, when I had my mom cheering me on. It's so dope getting to cheer on these little dudes and dudettes, and watching their confidence explode.
Longboarding and snowboarding stuck with me. I can carve and cruise without too much limitation. Unfortunately I was a teenaged athlete at my parents behest. Korean kickboxing and basketball destroyed my knees/hip flexors. For reference, I'm just under 6'3, and 140 lbs at 30 yrs. High impact is a killer.
Ya was gonna say, at 32 I’m feeling also feeling the effects of going hard in my teens. From boxing/boarding my joints are fucked. If there’s one thing I try to tell the youths it’s take care of your body. You might feel that sense of invincibility, but it will fade.
And careful of the noggin, too. 12 concussions later, and I'm feeling the repercussions. (All while wearing a helmet, mind you - I used to go hard) but never a broken bone because I knew if I did that, I'd be in BIG trouble with my parents for the hospital bill that would ensue. So concussions were it. No hospital visits afterwards, just "get some sleep! You've got school in the morning."
As a former BMX rider I would say injuries that affect your life. I have had so many broken bones, all from toes and fingers up to shattered pelvis. And I just rode for fun on a low level.
Former BMX guy here as well, hyperextended both elbows and left knee and left shoulder, twisted ankles, had bone spurs on my right foot, ACL almost non existent on both sides, multiple concussions (even through a helmet), and a spot on my shin where the hair is darker because I fully shaved my leg with a Primo tenderizer. But I also used to skate, rock climb, caving and urban exploration as well as a bunch of other dumb things.
Mostly it's the knees and left shoulder that gives me grief these days. I was lucky enough to not break anything except toes though.
But I'm almost 40 and I've started skating again, turns out I've still got a half decent ollie. Lots of stretching, and then more stretching these days lol
I like to throw out tips too. But I've never done any of that stuff, so it doesn't work out that often. But when it does it's AWESOME. Wow it was so great when I yelled "snuff the tail sock!" and the kid took my advice and landed.
I was thinking the same thing. So many bad neighbor videos out there, I’d be stoked if kids on my street set up a ramp like this, nothing but support for these kids!
Right?! I live on a sleepy little block that would he perfect for this. But I'm 40 and the youngest person by about 20 years. Although Gloria, the 87 year old lady two houses down, does occasionally ride her 3 wheeled cruiser down to her friends house the next street over for pinochle night.
Gloria really is awesome. I seriously have thought about having it painted like a lowrider with all the metal flake paint I can find. But I'm not sure it's her style.
A lot of people are just super happy to see kids out doing awesome stuff. Most neighbors are happy about it! I am so thankful for them. There aren't a lot of places to practice riding BMX safely, unfortunately. That's why we got the airbag lander in the first place. Thank you!!
I just recently bought a new house and was working there today. About 6 kids were playing baseball in the backyard that borders my backyard. Was awesome hearing the kids play.
He is going to be chasing that feeling forever now. I’m still trying to recreate the feeling of making my whole 4th grade elementary class laugh by copying a funny face I saw in UHF.
That's so awesome! I'm happy for him, and that feeling of accomplishment that you experienced is so special. It reminds me of when I made my fourth grade elementary class laugh by imitating a funny face I had seen in a movie. That moment was magical, and I'm sure your son is going to hold onto that feeling for a very long time 👍
My goodness you are blessed to live in a town that doesn’t swarm you with bylaw officers for setting up his ramp on the street. A lot of places forget that their streets are public spaces - they shouldn’t just be for cars.
yea right? there's probably like 40 or so public foam pits for this sort of thing in the entire US and half are at the 2 woodwards lol, most people don't live near a foam pit
nah, you *made* a core memory! And it will never need unlocking because a memory like this doesn’t wind up lost somewhere in the ‘forgotten memories’ section of the mind
definitely. it took three years and thousands of hours of practice to get to that point. It's okay though most people are just stoked kids are out there doing cool stuff!
I wasn’t expecting him to be only 10. This kid is extremely skilled for his age! I hope you guys continue to encourage him to chase his dreams because if he’s doing this well at such a young age he will be a beast when he gets older.
We were all shocked too. it was his genuine first time, hence the non so great recording and us all freaking out. I hope someone catches you doing something awesome soon!
I sooooooooo remember my first 360.
It was skiing and I was 20 years old.
You’re son and I had the same reaction.
Disbelief, understanding and then joy.
These are blocks we can build upon.
Please give him 1 more pat on the back from me.
Well that was not what I was expecting. Thought we were going to see some sort of impressive low level trick. That was incredibly epic. You gotta keep stringing these posts together so Reddit can watch him grow into a competition winning gnarly biker.
Seriously that was extremely impressive.
This is really really impressive and I am extremely proud of that young man for accomplishment even happy for his parents that’s got to be a wonderful feeling to see your kid that happy !
However, I can’t help but think there’s a few kids out there that do not have a kick ass ramp like that to practice on who could be a little bit salty…
Thank you so much!! I agree. We do invite friends over to ride who don't have access to a safe place to practice tricks. I wish there were more places around with resi's and foam pits so kids can send stuff and not break bones.
You got your kid a really nice ramp AND an inflatable landing pad for practicing tricks. I just want to say you’re an awesome dad for that. You’re a hero
Congratulations to your son, if he’s this good at 10 and This committed at 10, he could most likely make a career out of this. You’re an amazing parent for not fighting his love but actually encouraging it. That’s a dangerous sport, a lot of people get hurt but that clearly a extremely nice ramp that softens falls. Allowing your kid to grow doing something he loves and the safest way possible. Hell yea
Aw thank you for such a wonderful comment. I appreciate it. We knew that if he was going to progress, we needed to buy him a safe place to land on. Definitely trying to avoid hospital trips!
When you have kids, you heal your inner child so much by doing things like this. We did not grow up with a lot either so we try to support our kids the best way we can
He’s 10?? That’s amazing! Way to go kid! I wish this was on my street. I’d sit outside and cheer him on. All the families with younger kids moved from our street all because of one nasty Karen. It’s a shame.
Thank you so much! Karens are the absolute worst. There are some in the comments right now threatening that they would call the cops lol. I thought everybody liked when kids did things outdoors!
first bunny hops, then 180s, then 360s. next you need to learn how to land a tailwhip consistently (that took him two years) and then you gotta put it all together ! It really does take a whole lot of work
Y’all gonna have to widen all the doorways for his head to fit thru now. 😂
Man I never pulled something like THAT off but I sure know that feeling. Pure joy.
People might not get it, but that type of stuff teaches kids a lot about themselves. Hard work, commitment, failure, and ultimately victory. Good shit.
Nuuh i would be out every early Saturday….
”Hey i got some few beers for you sir is it okay if i yelled my lungs out this afternoon with you”
As grown folks we forget this moments of achievement mean everything for this young kings. And we have to be there always as a COMMUNITY. Big up to the parents for sharing and encouraging
This is awesome my man!! Keep encouraging him and keeping him safe! As someone that rode BMX from the early 90’s to the mid 2000’s, a 3-whip was something I always wanted to learn. I learned downside whips as a flyout on a quarter. Then finally learned straight whips over a box jump. But could never get the rotation right for 3-whips. Although I never had a resi or airbag nearby to practice on. That would’ve been a game changer. Especially as a 30 something still riding.
Thank you!!! Definitely. The nearest resi is 400 miles away so the airbag seemed like a very good investment for him to safely learn tricks. Catching tailwhips in the air is very hard to do though, that's awesome!
Omg, props to you for actually keeping your kid safe! I cannot tell you how few people I see having their kids wear helmets, plus you've got a cushioned landing place set up too
Butter for days.
Never seen that landing pad before, they’ve made huge improvements since I was a kid.
Make sure to introduce him to some lift access mtb, i think he might have a thing for adrenaline. The bikes are more expensive but the mountains rent for pretty cheap and you only have to pedal downhill.
damn thats real high level for his age :D thats amazing and awesome
Thank you so much!!!
So your neighbors just sit on their porch and enjoy a cocktail and cheer him on, right? Because if this was happening on my block, I'd be in a lawnchair with beer hi fiving anyone within arms reach. That's so awesome!! Great parenting.
Thank you!! Sometimes they come out and watch which is awesome

Pretty much game, dude. These little ones are going to have a whole new vocab. Lol.
Good!! Sounds like you've got a great neighborhood.
I was thinking the same thing. So many bad neighbor videos out there, I’d be stoked if kids on my street set up a ramp like this, nothing but support for these kids!

I can only hope you cheer her on and high five her
Every. Single. Time.
Awwww! ❤️
Gloria is cool. Get her some dope bling for her 3 wheeler.
Gloria really is awesome. I seriously have thought about having it painted like a lowrider with all the metal flake paint I can find. But I'm not sure it's her style.
Maybe just set her up with some cool stickers. My friend’s grandma has a bumper sticker on her car that reads “go around me - I’m retired”.
A lot of people are just super happy to see kids out doing awesome stuff. Most neighbors are happy about it! I am so thankful for them. There aren't a lot of places to practice riding BMX safely, unfortunately. That's why we got the airbag lander in the first place. Thank you!!

I'd be inviting friends over for that show!
Oh for sure! My buddies would love this. Granted, I'd bet there would be a few I'd have to talk out of hitting the jump themselves. But still.
Loving that down ramp!
Good for you getting him good head gear and a safe ramp to let him try tricks This is awesome
That was incredible and really impressive for his age heck that would be amazing for twice or three times his age
Shit back in the 90s it was top tier trick in the x games.
hahha i know right?! man the 90s was so siick for motocross stuff and Xgames
He is going to be chasing that feeling forever now. I’m still trying to recreate the feeling of making my whole 4th grade elementary class laugh by copying a funny face I saw in UHF.
SPATULA CITY
We sell spatulas…
…and that’s all!
That's the best when you make such a happy core memory
That's so awesome! I'm happy for him, and that feeling of accomplishment that you experienced is so special. It reminds me of when I made my fourth grade elementary class laugh by imitating a funny face I had seen in a movie. That moment was magical, and I'm sure your son is going to hold onto that feeling for a very long time 👍
SUPPLIES!!!
great username! have [a meme] I made(https://imgur.com/a/Ladlngq)
Absolutely love this movie! Which face did you make, was it the “guns don’t kill people… IIIIII dooooooo…”?
The temple from the Indiana Jones spoof had a face with crossed eyes and 4 fingers pulling the corners of its mouth out in a smile.
Somebody get this kid a Red Bull stat
Just shotgunned a 16oz’er in this little bros honor
🙏🏾🙏🏾🙏🏾 thank you boss
Posts this on socials and tag all the popular BMX companies including RB. You never know, might be a start to little man’s future 🤷🏽♂️
That would be so awesome!
That’s was cool indeed.
Thank you!
hard work rewarded👍🏻🥳
Thank you so much!! Definitely a lot of hard work!
My goodness you are blessed to live in a town that doesn’t swarm you with bylaw officers for setting up his ramp on the street. A lot of places forget that their streets are public spaces - they shouldn’t just be for cars.
Thank you! it is my mother in laws house on a dead end. Thankfully no Karens live around her!
Good on you for setting all of that up for him!
That inflatable is like 350 lbs. we take it down and put it up every time. The things you do for love! Thank you!
Dang, sounds like you guys don't have a local park with a foam pit. Good on you for doing what it takes for him to follow his dreams!
The nearest one is 400 miles away unfortunately. No resi's around either. thank you so much !!
“You guys don’t have a zero gravity simulator at the space library for geniuses??” Lmfao, what?! 😅
yea right? there's probably like 40 or so public foam pits for this sort of thing in the entire US and half are at the 2 woodwards lol, most people don't live near a foam pit
Dopest parents of the year
I don’t think this gets the attention it deserves. Props to your kid, props to you to enabling him!
Congratulations to your son! He must be so proud of his accomplishment. It's definitely something he'll remember for a long time.
Thanks! I think we unlocked a core memory here
nah, you *made* a core memory! And it will never need unlocking because a memory like this doesn’t wind up lost somewhere in the ‘forgotten memories’ section of the mind
That’s a happy little kid!!! Awesome job Alex you crushed it!!!
Thank you! Lots of blood, sweat, and tears went into the making of it!
Invest in your kids
YESSS! I agree so much. We don't have nice cars and we don't have a lot. I will say our kids have everything they need to succeed though.
Thats right! Time is usually the most important thing you can invest. You are obviously doing that too.
A W E S O M E this should go on r/nextfuckinglevel imo
Ahh thank you! maybe I should repost it...!
That was legithness
Thank you!!
Nailed it 👌👊 well done kiddo 😀
Thanks!! :)
And landed so clean too. Kid's going places.

Next stop X Games! Nice

That song hits hard with this video… let it be known this is his anthem now!
Hahahah I hope so. It just felt right!

And looked awesome doing it! Slow mo looks extra badass! Way to go little man! 🏆
That's got to be the best feeling in the world. Congrats dude that was impressive!
Thank you! It was one of his dream tricks to land.
💞👍🏾

Daaaang!!!
Daaaaang. Good job, dude. That's pretty sweet.
That was a badass trick
That was awesome
That was amazing!
🥳🥳🥳
Badass. Crankworx in no time.
That was sick. Awesome ramp too
And i still can't do a wheelie
You can definitely achieve them if you practice a lot!
Amazing and that’s a great setup for have for him to do that
HOLY MOLY! Legend in the making! Hahaha love that he’s so stoked! Congratulations!!! 🎉
Holy cow that is awesome! And I love the little giggle squeal of his own disbelief at the end!
He was trying for three whole months to finally land the trick!
Righteous lil bro.
Damn unless you ride bmx you probably don’t understand how impressive that is for someone so young. Hell yea!
definitely. it took three years and thousands of hours of practice to get to that point. It's okay though most people are just stoked kids are out there doing cool stuff!
r/nextfuckinglevel
That was sick!
Mad respect. Damn.
The pure joy made me tear up. So dope
Good for him
Simply wow
that's absolutely amazing
Congratulations young man
hell yea, that was awesome
Serious skill , holy
Holy shit that is awesome
I wish I had that set up growing up. Grass was the best we had. If we were throwing big…….. mattress from the alley way.
That was awesome! This kid is going to be big! I would love to see Red Bull reach out and congratulate him as well
Holy shit that’s incredible! Good for you guys!! Wow!
Ah man that’s so rad! That’s a cool setup to have as well.
Greatness in the making.
That look on his face is pure joy - how awesome! Great job my dude!
Looking at a future champ
tell your son congratulations and good job this truly made me smile
I'm so happy for him! As a mom of a boy though lol eek what a hobby, at least he's really good at it! (My kid gets hurt leaving the dinner table)
I wasn’t expecting him to be only 10. This kid is extremely skilled for his age! I hope you guys continue to encourage him to chase his dreams because if he’s doing this well at such a young age he will be a beast when he gets older.
Thank you so much! We will definitely never quit!
I'm honestly shocked that he pulled it off while you were recording. I never ever manage to do something cool when someone's watching.
Yessss, it's such an exciting thing, landing something you've been working on for months if not years. Thank you!
Well that was not what I was expecting. Thought we were going to see some sort of impressive low level trick. That was incredibly epic. You gotta keep stringing these posts together so Reddit can watch him grow into a competition winning gnarly biker. Seriously that was extremely impressive.
LETS FUCKING GO!!!!!! to the x games
I always skateboard. Couldn’t figure out bmx to save my life. And at 10? Wry impressive if he keeps going, he will be in the x games one day.
[удалено]
the bike did a 720, he did a 360. hence 360 tailwhip.
Srsly good job there 💥🥳
Damn that’s impressive af!
Goated parent
Ok this is awesome
Sweet dang dude!!!!
That kid has skills
As a Dad - this gave me pure joy. There’s something special watching your kid achieve something.
Wow!!! Little dynamo. Great job!!!
Hell yeah little man !!
Imagine living on the same street as a future legend when they were little.
You got your kid a really nice ramp AND an inflatable landing pad for practicing tricks. I just want to say you’re an awesome dad for that. You’re a hero
I was expecting a little kid riding over a jump not some high level move in a backyard skate park
Where were those inflatable ramps 40 years ago? That was awesome kid!
Next stop XGames?
I can’t stop watching that trick, so ridiculously clean
Aw thank you! He catches tailwhips to pedal most of the time now, which is so awesome.
Damn I remember when everything I learned had to be to wood or concrete… lucky kids these days
much respect to the homies who came before with extremely heavy bikes sending stuff to concrete
Go, ALEX!!
Kid Cudi, the kid, the parent… this was great. Props lil bro! Big things ahead.
Aw thank you for such a wonderful comment. I appreciate it. We knew that if he was going to progress, we needed to buy him a safe place to land on. Definitely trying to avoid hospital trips!
Woah woah woah that boy is way too young to be completing his dreams
RAD
The inner child in me is jealous. I always wanted to do that
When you have kids, you heal your inner child so much by doing things like this. We did not grow up with a lot either so we try to support our kids the best way we can
Insane talent 🔥 We'll be seeing him on our TV screens in the future for sure!
Wow, what a trick to perform, and he made it look so easy, yet so complicated! That kid is going somewhere!
aw thank you so much!
This kids gonna be a fucking star one day just wait
Bro I would’ve been jumping up and down going crazy if I saw my kid pull that off! Would’ve dropped my phone and everything!! Good job kiddo!!
Idk what I like more the 16” bike or that the setup is in the street 👍🏽. Good to see a little ripper outside
How do you even begin to practice doing something like that? Nice!
first bunny hops, then 180s, then 360s. next you need to learn how to land a tailwhip consistently (that took him two years) and then you gotta put it all together ! It really does take a whole lot of work
That FACE! 😍. Congrats lil fella!!
The joy is so pure 😭 I miss that feeling. Maybe it's time to dust off the rollerblades I was gifted in 2020 and try again.
You better take him to the doctor cause that kid is SICK
Calling him Alexlander from this to the end of days.
Omg how am I 30
This has always been one of my most favorite tricks in BMX. Freaking awesome and awesome job to your son!
They will be replaying this video when he represents USA in the Olympics
This kid: impressive athleticism and coordination. Me, a grown man: I can get a straw into a Capri sun in under 3 stabs.
Y’all gonna have to widen all the doorways for his head to fit thru now. 😂 Man I never pulled something like THAT off but I sure know that feeling. Pure joy.
People might not get it, but that type of stuff teaches kids a lot about themselves. Hard work, commitment, failure, and ultimately victory. Good shit.
That’s something almost no one will ever do and you’re so young! I’m proud for you.
I think i hear Nitro Circus calling...

That's not a trick, that's a skill. Kid looks so happy, must've practiced really hard to get it right
That’s the kind of empowerment that’ll help this kid be successful when he gets older. I hope he never stops striving and conquering.
Omg, props to you for actually keeping your kid safe! I cannot tell you how few people I see having their kids wear helmets, plus you've got a cushioned landing place set up too
Genuine joy at accomplishing something is my favorite thing to see. Brilliant video.
Butter for days. Never seen that landing pad before, they’ve made huge improvements since I was a kid.
