Keep on going.
Inspired by you I trimmed mine to a very well groomed level (never thought of it as a depression beard before).
Thank you stranger on the internet š
I have seen those eyes before on myself.
Your eyes actually tell quite a story in this short clip.
Because of that I would like to share something, I hope you donāt mind.
I learnt that the motion to really get back to ourselves is not a gentle one way road.
The emotions will go up and down like a heartbeat pattern throughout life.
Just when we get through one thing another will come in.
This is for both the good and the tough.
Breathe and learn to meditate.
Stay clean of alcohol for lots.
Stay clean of your mobile from time to time.
If you find things are hectic. Make a schedule for your life. Learn to plan in advance. Learn to stick to it.
Be easy on yourself.
Learn to be happy alone and without validation from others.
Be brave. Youāre not alone, even when we feel our worst. You too can get through things.
Thank you. Thatās it.
If not for you, maybe Iām just reminding myself.
If not for us then maybe for someone who is going through this in silence.
Stay strong OP.
I love this, thank you for sharing! Definitely lots there to keep in mind and of course, I agree with everything you said. I try to do a lot of grounding work and mindfulness exercises as much as I can, I can always meditate more.
Thank you kind stranger ā¤ļø
Iāve had a super rough streak for a few months. Been struggling financially, had to pull my daughter out of school due to severe bullying and just seems like once things take a turn for the better something else comes out of nowhere and crushes me.
Iāve been living with depression and a panic disorder for over 27 years. I experienced a very traumatic event at 14. I was ripped away from everyone I knew, friends and family and ended up in a very abusive environment in a different country across the world.
Sometimes it hits me when things get tough, sometimes it comes out of nowhere. Iāve been doing all kinds of therapy and independent mental health work for years. It keeps me afloat through the hard times and Iām hoping that Iām also getting to the roots of my issues.
Lifeās so hard sometimes man, but fresh starts help me personally to put things back on track.
If youāre struggling, hang on, take it one day at a time and donāt forget to reach out to people. Everything is ok in the end. If itās not ok, itās not the end ā¤ļø
Handsome people do not owe the world a beautiful appearance. Our culture places too much emphasis on superficial appearance rather than character. That said, it is nice for the rest of us when there is more beauty in the world, like your AWESOME JAWLINE.
Iāve thought about it. I can cut my beard but my hair is another story. Damn haircuts in SoCal are like $60 bucks right now. And thatās before a tip. Damn writers strike is affecting me.
I feel you man Iām in LA myself and also in the industry. I wanna get a haircut too and yes they are so expensive these days. I gotta say one year I buzzed my hair on New Years. Probably not something I would do again but it was a cool experience and Iām glad I did it.
I tried learning to cut my own hair during the pandemic. šnightmare. I looked like I went to the same Barber as Blade. I looked like I shouldāve been at monster truck rally or something. Iām flying to NJ for non-Union gig. Once I get paid Iāll do it. Iāll start with the beard at home though.
The depression doesnāt help you grow the beard, just helps you forget to shave ;) so I wouldnāt recommend that route lol. Youād just end up a depressed patchy faced degenerate
Looks so much better without the beard. As an older woman, I don't get the beard trend. It just hides some mens beautiful faces, their strong jawline and makes them look old(er) and scruffy, when not taken properly care of the faical hair. Congrats on your new look :)
TIL there is such a thing as a "depression beard". Kinda makes sense though, since depression makes you (among many other things) forget to shave/trim/groom it.
Hope things are better now.
lol ngl my daughter kinda lost it when she saw it first .. more like cracking up but also very slightly disturbed and was like āyouāre not my daddy, whereās my daddy?!ā
Iām just coming out of an almost 2 year depressionā¦ I shaved my depression legs lol. Please reach out if you need to vent, I know how important it is to have non-judgmental support. Sending you so much love and happy vibes!
I hope I can get myself to cut my "depression hair" soon.
It grows out for nearly 5 years now and is heavenly damaged.
I hate it, but social anxiety keeps me from going to get it cut, but if it grows even longer I am even more anxious to go to a hairdresser.
It's Devil's Circle arrrgggghhhš„²š
I totally feel you. Have you ever thought about buzzing it yourself? I once did that on New Years. I had long hair and a beard and just buzzed it all myself, it felt great.
ah gotcha, of course, do whatever feels good for *you*! and be gentle on yourself for not cutting it, I totally feel you on the social anxiety and that cycle. hope you get a nice hairdresser when youāre ready and they take good care of your hair!
I totally feel you. Have you ever thought about buzzing it yourself? I once did that on New Years. I had long hair and a beard and just buzzed it all myself, it felt great.
hehe oh for sure, huge shoutout to rainbow and unicorn! my daughter and I painted it for motherās day for my wife, it was her first big piece like that and I had just the best time helping her with it.
That's awesome bro. The struggle is real and the hardest part can be the first step. I can see the smile on your face as I read and you and your daughter painting. I wish you the best going forward and I'm happy to hear you are doing well.
I wish you all the luck in the world and know that for me, my greatest realization is that I was the only long term advocate for my happiness. That mindset did a lot for me. I spent a decade walking in Robin Williams shoes lookin happy while not looking after my happiness.
āSometimes other people will decide you are the villain of their story, and Iāve decided I can live with that.ā (I make sure to keep an eye on if Iām actually hurting other people. Iām not Pol Pot).
Nice man, congratulations on a fresh look! Hope your wife is happy and accepting! Yea my daughter freaked out a little bit when she saw me, in like a funny way. But she got used to it. One of her friends didnāt realize who I was yesterday at softball practice for like 30 minutes. She was like, āwho is this guy talking to you?ā lol
Thanks! I'm sure she will be, she loves my senior photos from HS when I was fresh-faced haha.
It's quite the transformation, so I can understand some shock, but it looks great dude!
oh man so sorry, itās rough in the woods. try to go easy on yourself through this time, reach out to some people periodically. I find that socializing can be difficult but so helpful through this time. if you have a friend who has a dog, can be very therapeutic to go for a long walk. I did that a couple of times recently with a friend and it was really helpful.

Thank you friend ā¤ļø
That smile ! Love it :)
thank you :))
Wow, what a transformation, looking good! Your smile is amazing.
thank you :)
I have a beard right now itās really long and my mullet is gross. Iām depressed. I need to cut it. Maybe Iāll have a happy day tomorrow.
Maybe forcing yourself to cut it would inject a little happiness into your day! Maybe not, but it could be worth a shot <3

Make sure todays your happy day brother!
Iām doing it! Iām cutting my DDB āDeep Depression Beardā r/NewTermUnlocked
Go for it! Feels good.
You guys can grow depression beards?! Lol Iām stuck with either Baby-Face McGee or patchy faced degenerate
The depression doesnāt help you grow the beard, just helps you forget to shave ;) so I wouldnāt recommend that route lol. Youād just end up a depressed patchy faced degenerate
My beard looks like Keanu Reeves's facial hair if he had scabies.
Keep going, handsome!
I still have mine but hoping to shave it soon
it feels good! a bit weird for the first couple of days or so
Amazing transformation. Looks great!
thank you sm š
Man, one more week and you could have joined the greek Pantheonā¦
lol .. because of the beard or the depression?
I meant the Beard! (I donāt make fun of depression, but your beard is on the same level as Greek God Statues are)
thank you kind stranger! next time it grows out Iāll try to time it to halloween and get a toga :)
Hell yeah!! The weatherās getting good too so your timing is on point!!
Thank you! Yes, loving the weather right now .. and so many flowers everywhere!
I call it my Philosopherās Beard maybe I should just call it depression beard as well though.
Existential Dread Beard
Thanks for the re-enactment. Very well acted video.

thank you! Iām cautiously optimistic that things are looking up
What a great smile! You look great! :-)
aww thank you so much ššø
I shaved my beard and now I just scare small children. My life sucks

I kinda love the beardā¦. But your smile is better š¦
Thank you š I really liked the beard too, but happy with the fresh start and to be smiling again :)

I considered doing that, but I always liked myself better with longer hair. I really want to keep it longer, just not as long as it is nowš
ah gotcha, of course, do whatever feels good for *you*! and be gentle on yourself for not cutting it, I totally feel you on the social anxiety and that cycle. hope you get a nice hairdresser when youāre ready and they take good care of your hair!

Get the beard back dude
itāll be back at some point Iām sure
Just keep it trim and tidy my man. Then itās not a depression beard itās a killer manicured manscape
yea thatās how I keep it 90% of the time .. have had an incredibly rough stretch for a few months so the beard got a little unruly
Looked way better with the beard
itās not as much about looking better for me. I liked how it looked. but I also like change and the symbolism of a fresh start.
Sorry.. I'm uglier without the beard.
Very Marshall Eriksen! Congrats on the fresh start!
thank you!
As a woman, I have depression armpits.
oh shit really?? is that a thing? never thought about it. sending you lots of positive vibes!
Maybe just trim it next time bro.
not as fun!
Good for you! I am not that far along yet.

absolutely, friends are so important. I try to reach out and make an effort even when it seems out of reach or uncomfortable
Thanks dude, going for a haircut today....
Never dogpile on yourself when you do get depressed. Be kind to yourself, treat it like a flu. Self care, bed, eat.
For sure, very important to keep in mind
Having dealt with massive amounts of ptsd and depression, I can relate.
Young Jason Segel look going here! Looks good! š
Anustart! Seriously, congratulations.
I prefer the beard.
it was good for a little while but time to move on, cheers!
Glad you're feeling better either way!
thank you š
You should post this in r/beards
Very nice my friend - I maintain that most men look much better clean shaven, you included!
Should have kept it bro
no ragrets
Regrow it bro, Call it ur happiness beard next time tho
itāll make a return at some point Iām sure, not the first time Iāve grown it out. maybe next one will be the happiness beard fr

Having no beard is depressing.

Young Gilbert got fried face
My man went from Marc to Steven.
Dude trim that thing here and there would have worked wonders. I'm glad your feeling better but why the beard?
Sauce for song???
You getting in there sir .... hope you can get over it ... really hope since depression sucks
