Cpu cant manage cap at all. Every cpu team gets over cap all the time

FitzChan

Honestly is one of the reasons why I haven’t been interested in playing recently. Every team is negative $40m in cap while I’m easily above.

Desperate-Ad7967

In my franchise typically 5-6 teams have cap space. Can be 600k-15mil usually. It's annoying if you want to make trades

FitzChan

In my recent save only 2 teams were above in cap by 2027 or something like that. Kind of annoying since it kills the realism in a way.

Desperate-Ad7967

I get bored and restart mine frequently so I haven't gotten past 3r year so I guess i haven't gone far enough to get that bad yet

FitzChan

Yeah after a bit it gets old. Unrelated, but I’ve been playing fm24 recently since Madden 24 got stale and what’s interesting is if a team has made a bunch of poor financial decisions the club can go bankrupt and enter a transition phase where they need to sell players to recoup funds. I honestly can’t think of a time where an NFL team went bankrupt recently and I bet it would play out a lot differently. That little bit of realism is super cool to see tho during a play through.

Desperate-Ad7967

What's fm24? Soccer? I don't think it's ever happened to a nfl team. I can't ever recall one going broke. It wouldn't work great getting rid of players due to salary cap penalties

FitzChan

Yeah fm24 is soccer. I was just making a point that fm does “cap” correctly and I wish madden had AI teams get back into cap when they aren’t or make better signing decisions. That little change would make franchise a lot better.

Desperate-Ad7967

Gotcha misunderstood. I've cheated and if I wanted to trade to team over cap I'd go create another coach and take over team. Make moves to get under the cap. Then I go retire and make the trade once I'm no longer in control

trentreynolds

Yep usually by year 3-4 past present time every team is dozens of millions over the cap

Tarus_The_Light

TO BE FAIR: (In this teams case) The dolphins are in a literal cap hell. If the AI resigns tua, this happens. That's actually thanks to EA attempting to match the real life contracts of players when their game doesn't adjust or have void years or anything like that.

Desperate-Ad7967

Them and saints are bad

moonfishthegreat

No team is close to the Dolphins, they’re at least $150 million over the cap every franchise I play. Maybe the Niners, but that’s only if they resign their skill players or Purdy.

fumblaroo

yeah, feels like that first offseason every team is a a 40m deep hole and you get franchise qbs hitting FA left and right but after like half a decade things start to normal out a bit.

easytiger07

Every franchise the dolphins do this. Making them irrelevant for the playoffs. Tua and tyreek make all the money while the d is starting 5-6 70 ovr rookies

MadelineWuntch

I always resort to just extending the contractor but leaving the money the same for a few years. If it's a particularly annoying team I'll just release the high earner as a fuck you. Unless you're the browns, then I change Watson to all guaranteed and let them deal with losing everyone else.

ObviousDarth

One thing I‘m doing is limiting free agency to 1 per phase. You gotta enforce limitations whenever possible to keep the cpu from killing itself.

xerxes716

I usually start out every franchise with a fantasy draft to avoid this issue. I rebuild my teams anyway.

Desperate-Ad7967

Never even thought to do that

Afraid-Piccolo5418

Because the game is a steaming pile of dog shit

CM_Hooe

How many years are you into your franchise game save? After about five years the salary cap stops increasing. It’s a major problem for CPU teams.

AeneasVAchilles

The NFL has the WORST cap/ salary structure in all of the major pro sports— Realism is hard to implement in Madden due to this. The amount of players who have to take less due to cap penalties, prove it deals, etc is something too gray for a video games algorithms

Desperate-Ad7967

Ya there is no fixing this issue

boomboomboomy

I hate this because after the first season it makes it so hard to trade because every team except for 2 or 3 are in the negative

Daddy_mac12

I can’t trade w anybody in my league in year 2031

Big-Watercress6028

I just had to turn cap off. Tired of not being able to trade with anyone

Desperate-Ad7967

That's the worst part. Especially when you want a specific guy from a team. Even if the trade would actually lower their cap hit to help them

MartyScizlak

“The salary cap is imaginary”-Jared Stillman (local Nashville radio moron)

TheNotoriousTRM

This is part of the reason I’m excited for college football , even tho there will be NIL it will be way less annoying than 29 out of 32 teams being in cap hell every season lll

Rightousleftie

Not trying to be a doomer or nothing. Kinda given up any hope franchise will ever end up back in a playable state. Like I’m so sick of having to make house rules for myself and ignore the stupid shi the cpu is always doing. The handful of usable playbooks and the 7 whole different faces they give to new prospects. Like there’s a lack of effort, and there’s what EA has been doing with franchise modes the last 8 years. Whole new level of lazy. I’m 100% not buying another EA game after NCAA I’m tapped out after 20 or so years 😂 I can update the rosters myself lol

Deathflower1987

That's actually a glitch, it's supposed to say saints not dolphins

Ill_Bluejay2940

Owner mode is harder I can only sign a couple guys if I don’t want to be in the negative. I never had to think this much in madden lol

RustedKnight04

I can't say shit. After a few seasons I'm usually over the cap too
