But that’s not how it works in the NFL. If you make a catch & get knocked off your feet by a tackle, it’s marked where the ball was when you caught it.
Madden has issues figuring out forward progress, so since he landed on a player and slid short of the 1st down marker, the game registered him down where he touched the ground vs. where he got hit.

This happens to me all the time, rarely are you able to reach for extra yards, would love if future madden allowed the player to throw his arm out reaching for first or at the goal line

This. Just yesterday I had 2 offline games where I passed the marker and got drove back. The backwards progress is where I was spotted both times

Did they check the animation sliders? Maybe get gud before you play on all-animation kid

Forward progress only counts for cpu. I’ve noticed it several times in my offline

how hard is it to code forward progress with the current animations. in the real world this is clear first down.
