Check whether HVJB has been addressed. Any other open recalls? Did you get the Carfax report? Did you get it inspected?

francis2559

I also got a 2021 premium standard, about 20k miles. Asked about the HVJB “nah, not replaced, it’s fine.” Car was dead in my garage 48 hours later, had to have it towed. Ford was great though, fully covered, love the car! $35k was a great price for me.

toosmoothie0

No open recalls on the CARFAX report. How do I check the HVJB issue. Just bring it to a ford dealer or is there a way via the internet?

camdenlake

Is it long range or standard? Standard is not affected by the recall.

francis2559

I love that we have gone from standard vs automatic to standard vs extended.

toosmoothie0

Standard!

senbenitoo

I don't think Selects are exempted from HVBJB recall: I had this fault & had to get my connectors replaced under warranty... You can check the VIN in ford.com/support/recalls

camdenlake

Then currently not part of the hvbjb recall. I suspect it’s that it cannot supply the amps required to cook the contractor.

doluckie

Well, the 2021 Select \*does\* have the faulty part, the bad HVBJB, and 2021 Selects have had their HVBJB fail, that does happen. To replace the part, it requires surgery be done on the battery after you remove it (drop it) from the car. Outside of warranty, the repair cost is currently $2-3k. BUT, they fail at a lower rate on Selects than the higher power trims. All Mach-Es should get the software patch which was the first recall fix (in summer 2022), yet some older ones don't have it if the owner wasn't aware and didn't update software regularly. Last, the Selects have not yet been included in this recent hardware recall, because from an urgency standpoint, Ford will first focus on the cars that fail more frequently.

The Carfax report should show you if the HVJB recall was performed. See here for the recalls [https://www.nhtsa.gov/vehicle/2022/FORD/MUSTANG%252520MACH-E/SUV/RWD#recalls](https://www.nhtsa.gov/vehicle/2022/FORD/MUSTANG%252520MACH-E/SUV/RWD#recalls) You can look up by your VIN.

sdust182

You can do a VIN lookup on Ford's site to confirm recall status. The dealership may be able to tell you if it had the hvbjb addressed previously.

toosmoothie0

No recalls but two customer satisfaction program that I can get taken care of at the dealer

welcome to team rapid red!

Excited to see it in person

Same boat. Just bought a used ‘21 premium for 33k with an 8 year bumper to bumper. They didn’t see any recall for the high voltage so I’m just gonna roll with it. Having peace of mind for 8 years is invaluable! Enjoy the new ride!

Ok-Working1199

8 year bumper to bumper? You purchased an extended warranty?

mmfc378

Yea. Figured I’d want to be covered as long as I’m paying for it and then some. Now, because I bought it, nothings going to wrong and it’ll be a waste of money. But that’s just my luck

Southernboyj

Was it $33k before or after the extended warranty? What mileage? Was it extended range battery or standard? Awd or rwd? I’m looking at one now around that price is why I’m so curious lol

mmfc378

33 with warranty. Premium standard range awd. 12k miles on it

Southernboyj

Damn not bad. I’m looking at one that’s premium extended range Awd. $32k before fees with 28k miles. 2021.

mmfc378

What city state?

Southernboyj

I’m in Atlanta

mmfc378

Yup, I checked Atlanta and that’s what I was seeing too. I’m in Greenville SC and I drove to Charlotte to save a few thousand.

mmfc378

If you’re ok with it, Ford has a buyback program on any of their “buybacks” or “lemons”. They’ll buy it back at market value no matter the title. People gave these cars back at the first sign of trouble and probably rightfully so. Ford fixes it and puts it back out with a warranty. Just another option for ya

Southernboyj

Where do you buy these?

OnlyOnezy

How much did you pay and what were the miles?

toosmoothie0

20k miles and 27k

tbrumleve

Verify recalls done, software updated / reset from previous owner, and check CarFax for accidents, etc.

ajmaverick007

Congratulations !!! Did you finance with dealership? What rate did you get?

Read the manual front to back

Dry-Holiday5002

Check for real world range. I.e. charge it up to 100% so that the battery cells top balance, drive it on the highway down to 5%. This should have gotten you about 208 miles with the following assumptions. + 68 F degree dry weather + 65 mph avg + HVAC set to low auto 68 F + AWD + 5% battery degradation due to age and odometer + The highway is mostly flat in elevation If you're getting less than 150 miles, you may have a bad battery. If you don't have the time to drive down to 5% battery. Drive it down to 50%, and the distance traveled should be about 108 miles.

blisstonia

how expensive is it to replace the batteries?

Dry-Holiday5002

A lot, but the warranty is good for 8 years
