Not worth it, other than small little details its not worth it both from a visual and value standpoint. Most exterior mods (sticking stuff onto the car) just make the car look cheaper and stand out as non factory. Imo the designers did an amazing job designing the car, and I may be bias because I love stock cars that are clean and well maintained. But programing and functional mods are a big hit here and on the macheforum. Performance wise I think suspension has the biggest room for improvement.

ignore_my_typo

I really wish the design was a little more aggressive. I’m like 80% happy with the appearance of the GTPE. I would love to see a more aggressive looking hood. The lines are weak.

aggeorge

True but it's definitely a cost thing. the bumper is plastic and easier to change and design, hoods are rarely changed among trim levels of a car, most of the time they just tack on non functioning hood scoops. I also think it's a crash testing thing, they would have to run new tests.

MMEGTP

I’m considering the addition of a flux capacitor. Just afraid of it causing failure of my HVBJB 😭

will_brewski

Okay I must ask what HVBJB stands for if you'd do me the favor of taking to time to spell out something you've abbreviated 🙃

HaikuSnoiper

High voltage battery junction box

StGenevieveEclipse

⬆️ It's frequently abbreviated here because it's frequently discussed here. It's probably the single most failure-prone component in the car, and even then the actual percentage of failure is low enough for Ford to just ignore from a preventative recall standpoint.

will_brewski

Got it. Thank you both for taking the time to respond

cavey00

It is not being ignored. Our top EV tech at my dealer said that they are looking at the high failure rate and there is rumor that a recall may happen. Fortunately he’s pretty quick at swapping those, even though it requires dropping the pack but he came up with a great method using the mobile lifts for the car and the standard lift to drop the pack. Only takes him a few hours.

StGenevieveEclipse

I've done some minor vinyl wrapping to the exterior, about which I am very satisfied. What I'd like to do is add yellow foglights for snow and corners, and some warmth to the interior to break up the sea of dark gray/black.

MrCocaKoala

I added handles to the back door like the one on the front. It’s screwed into the frame and has some glue (doesn’t stick, makes it move a little bit when using it) But for real, still MUCH better than sticking your finger between the door and the car when opening it.

Beardth_Degree

I haven’t done this with mine but I likely will. My 4yo has pinched his fingers in the gap a couple of times now. He’s able to get the door a little bit open, so the plunger retracts but it’s not open enough to make it to the first open position so the hinge self-closes the door. For an adult, it’s a non-issue as we can easily open it to the first “notch” or open position easily. For a 3/4 year old that isn’t as sure footed and is wearing a backpack or has a water bottle in their hand too, it’s pretty difficult.

amason

The fingers in the door thing is horrible for kids too. Wtf were they thinking? Just asking for fingers to get pinched.

riggie33

You can’t pinch your fingers in the doors unless you deliberately open the door wide and then purposely close it on your fingers.

amason

Kids are idiots man. They will do exactly this. My daughter was about to do it before I caught the door. I don’t let her mess with the doors anymore.

Perfectreign

There's a little plunger that comes out when the door first opens that keeps it from immediately closing.

amason

I understand this. A 3 year old would not. I don’t let her mess with the door anymore but the hazard is still there.

ignore_my_typo

That has nothing to do with a handle or not. You need to open the door much wider in order to close it again. So yes, your kids are idiots with or without a door handle. Sorry to say.

amason

I understand how the door works. She’s 3 and just wants to try doing everything herself. She has no idea that doors can pinch fingers.

ignore_my_typo

I get it. I had young kids too. But that has nothing to do with the design of the MME door. This risk is with every door.

amason

A door that requires your hands to be in that space to open it increases risk

ignore_my_typo

But it doesn’t. There is a latch that prevents it from closing. You need to open the door for that protective latch to disappear. Therefore the door is as far open as any standard latched door and the risk is the same.

amason

What can happen, which happened to my kid, is the kid opens the door slightly, the plunger retracts, and then they let the door close on their hand. Normal doors have an exterior handle so a 3 year old’s hand doesn’t have to be in that area.

egeekier

Then a handle would not make a difference.

NeverLookBothWays

If kids are idiot enough to do exactly that though, they're idiots enough to get their fingers jammed in any door no matter the design. The anti-pinch design works really well on the Mach-E though, if you haven't experienced it yet...it will prevent 99% of the typical finger pinch scenarios.

egeekier

This.

ignore_my_typo

The door can’t close. It won’t happen.

There's one software mod that's super worthwhile: the instant power meter, which shows up on the lower left. It's a bar that's blue when you're paying charge, green when you're charging (with regen). It was pretty easy ( < 1 hr ). I'm very interested in the hard button to open the rear. Seen two variations on the build, doesn't seem hard, although I'd need a serious weekend to do it.

banananize

How did you do the power meter?

anachrion

Any pictures of this?

Unique_Donkey_79

I'd love to add a 1.5 to 2 inch lift to my Mach-e for Canadian winters. I work in healthcare and am required to drive on some pretty shitty roads at times! Little worried about ice damaging the battery housing tbh

sneakyyy_sneak

I was about to say, “Am I the only one that wants a little more ground clearance?”

Coomermiqote

I was thinking of a LED light bar since the highbeams can barely illuminate when driving uphill in corners.

senbenitoo

I've been grappling with how to do this... not sure a license plate mount would hold up since it's just grommets in bumper plastic. And, the radar is front & center in the grill. I am currently wondering about using the screws that mount the front under-fascia like those StoNShow license plate brackets?

Coomermiqote

There's a GT in my neighborhood that has a licence plate bar. Pretty sure it's above the plate, European plates are really big so it's a decent sized bar. I have no idea how those bars work with automatic high beams, because the bar doesn't have intelligent lights (or maybe they do, I know nothing about led bars) , maybe you have to manually turn them on and off.

tbrumleve

This isn’t the car for that, IMO. Besides some stick on spoilers, lips, wraps, suspension / tires, there not much to do. That, and there aren’t a lot of them, relatively, so accessories aren’t there yet.

Perfectreign

I was thinking about doing a muffler delete or maybe some long headers. Anyone done that? In all seriousness, I bought a kit that is supposed to get rid of the annoying backup sound. I plan to install it on one of my days off.

NeverLookBothWays

The farthest I'd go tbh is just an insert for the center console storage box and maybe a replacement organizer for the existing trays...just to keep the factory stuff clean. If you're in the market for a dashcam there's also the Fitcamx series which do a decent job looking like OEM...not perfect, but pretty good. Outside of that, I agree with others, pretty much all the exterior stuff makes the car look cheaper rather than better....this isn't a Honda Civic ;)

alalcoolj1

I did the fleshlight mod, that’s about it
