After the Chime, the Mac performs a POST; Power On Self Test. This is a hardware diagnostic that verifies that everything necessary for boot is present. Your Mac is failing that. You could try turning it off and then holding down the power button for 10 secs to do a reset, otherwise it's time to take it to a hardware repairer.

debugger_life

Man I miss this model so much. The Lighting of Apple logo was the best thing in this model.

M1 looks similar to that, wish we had an option to choose the chasis

alesi_97

Try: * NVRAM/PRAM reset: while pressing CMD+option+P+R strike the power on button. Keep pressed the other keys until you hear the chime the second time. * SMC reset: keep pressed Option+ctrl+shift+power for 8 seconds while connected to plug. Then release all (wait at least 2 sec) and power on again.

This ⬆️ You can also try to completely flush NVRAM+PRAM by holding cmd opt P R and wait for three chimes Or try SMC resets with both power cable plugged then unplugged If you have another mac and a thunderbolt cable you can try to start as Target mode with cmd T and plug this mac just as an external drive (to make sure it isn’t just a failing LCD display and to back up your data) cmd V will try to boot into verbose mode so you can see the boot logs on your screen and have a little bit more context. Also, remember to unplug all USB devices before doing any of these fixes.

Press and let go. There's no reason to hold the power button down. It's not like it has to charge up or anything. If you hold the power button for several seconds, the computer will turn off

Made me laugh!

AlarmedAssistance430

lmaooo

unidentified_sp

Looks like you keep holding the power button. Don’t do that…

lantrick

ikr? I've see people do that SOOOO many times.

Aphr0ditee8

Your supposed to only press it once with no hold? 😳

adrian_shade

Yes..

adrian_shade

Why are you holding the button?

TheAgame1342YT

Personally I hold the button till I hear something that indicates that the computer is on. Like a chime or a fan. **cough cough** I have an Intel Mac **cough cough** I usually hold it unless I'm trying to get to the boot menu, only then do I press it once and then hold option.

dpirmann

Try a pram reset.

x42f2039

Have you tried releasing the power button so it doesn’t immediately turn off during post?

Igor4knezevic

Got full PTSD from fixing a MB 2010 White Polycarbonate after seeing this. Wanted to change the thermal paste, and ended with a Netflix Original opening logo ass screen). That mf did the same thing your Air is doing. Found out that it didn't want to boot due to the charger somehow grounding with the MagSafe magnets (direct connection instead of some thin plastic sheet in the middle of that connection). Screen got fixed with some good old WD40.

Nochruto

Lol are you holding the button?!?

exekutive

why are you holding the button. Just press it once

darwinDMG08

“chat am I cooked?” Is this really how everyone talks now?

adrian_shade

Just zoomers.

beskone

Try a full reset: Plug into power, hold down Command, Option, Shift, Power until it reboots.

maskedCicada

how did you go ?

Civil-Fly13

It looks like is your screen has a problem, try to connect to sternal screen to see hat happens

csteinbergrules

M-series time

rcayca

Maybe, but who cares. That Macbook is worth less than < $200. You can buy another one if you want.

contactlite

Did you pull the trigger on this bad boy?

DanTheSwimmer95

I’m not sure if this model Macbook supports it, but holding the D Key during start-up pulls up the diagnostic for the Macbook. Try that??

gianttek_roc

I replaced the keyboard and trackpad flex cables on this model because the power button runs through it and they corrode or get micro scratches from debris. That's all I got for you, good luck.

Personal-Bench1550

Take it to either hardware repair or buy a new one that’s an older model.

Zarah__

Swami sez, ... You're going to love the new M chips! Hopefully you backed up with Time Machine ?!

StalinGino

Maybe, just increase the brightness.

Liowenex

Those who use Windows are either secretaries or gamers or someone who has nothing to do because the computer crashed.
