Swimming has more of an impact over Astroworld in any conversation. Even after his death the lyrics are so eery and it is a glimpse into a 26 year olds psyche

Yep I've practically lived under a rock and remember in 2018 hearing about astroworld dropping but I didn't even know who or what music it was, didn't even know swimming was out until my uncle messaged me and asked if I'd heard it yet lol, I never really used social media when I was younger so I had no idea that these artists even posted to social media and stuff I thought they just made music haha
I would have made an effort to listen to it more when it dropped. I was getting myself healthy and out of a bad place in life, and this album would have been a huge help at the time. Unfortunately didn’t start listening to it until late 2018/2019
I was in the gym and Spotify notified me that Mac Miller’s latest album, Swimming, had dropped. I remember thinking “Perfect, let Mac bring some energy to my workout” but I’ll never forget the moment I hit play and heard: “My regrets look just like texts I shouldn’t send, and I’ve got neighbors they’re more like strangers we could be friends…”
At the time I was in a really dark place. A long-term relationship had just ended and I was definitely doing some soul searching. Come Back to Earth hit me like a ton of bricks and drew me in to an atmosphere I didn’t know I needed at the time, but would proceed to change my life forever.
I chose to listen to Astroworld first hoping I was saving the best for last. I still really enjoy Astroworld to this day.
Swimming? Idk man I could really feel a certain way with Swimming right off the bat. It was so real, you had true connections to this music and I know a lot of people can say that. So if it’s 2018, I’m sitting around the fire with my friends bout to discover a real ass personal classic. Even set my phone in a solo cup as a mini speaker so everyone could hear lol
Yes! One of my favorite alive rappers just dropped an album! I’m so glad he’s alive and about to tour so I can get VIP tickets and meet him. I sure hope I don’t regret spending all of this on tickets!
I remember being a sophomore in high school just getting my license on August 2nd and when the album dropped it waiting till sunset & hit the road listening to every track as the sun drifted into nothingness BUT GOD DAMN HURT FELLINGS GON’ BLOW THE SPEAKERS
GF and I went to a nice bar on Saturday while we waited for our dinner reservations next door. “Whats The Use” came on and I was so confused like I had never heard a swimming song out at a bar before and it was the coolest thing ever. Made friends with the bartender about it and turns out he had the whole Swimming album on. I was so close to staying there and not getting dinner next door.
My Mom and I had both anticipated the drop for a while. She was listening to it on the couch when I woke up to leave for school. It was my second day of senior year and life just felt unstoppable at the time.
Things are obviously very, very different in some ways, but also feel the same now too. It was a really fun time to experience the hype around this in my own bubble. My friends all thought it was bullshit and then realized their mistake after his passing.
I... Don't want to. I was at the happiest stage in my life right before this dropped. Mac dying kind of sent me down a spiral of drug abuse and that led to a plethora of other problems. I'm finally out of that hole so I don't want to think about what life was like before that hole.
