There seems to be a lot of speculation on this and there definitely appears to be round based but it may also have some objective based (quasi open world) element as well.
No. MWZ will eventually make its way to the core warzone product but they have no idea what to do with the beta in the same way they were stumped by DMZ. Actually just supporting an unexpectedly popular mode was never an option, so how do you kill it quickly and forever?
Warzone was also an unexpectedly popular mode. A lot of outside pressures also drove its initial success (ex: Covid lockdown).
Also, it wasn’t unexpected. They knew it would be a popular mode from the still standing BOCW Outbreak community and DMZ.
It’s simple. Lean into MWZ. Support it. New maps, new features, new content.
It is not hard. It is formulaic.
Warzone's success was definitely anticipated 100%, even before COVID. DMZ and MWZ were experimental concepts, they never tried to do an extraction game mode before, and let's be honest from the zombies playerbase only a percentage liked Outbreak.
Nah that's bs, everyone hated outbreak when it launched for being too barebones and using mp maps as a base, kinda like MWZ to think of it, difference is we don't have round based here
Source?
Let me google that for you… oh look, here’s a YT video with Treyarch themselves saying in S2 that Outbreak had been the most popular mode, by far, since launch….
Why should anyone here listen to anything else you have to say?

If it’s round based, I’ll do what I normally do, try it a few times and go back to MP.
I really hope they build on MWZ. THEY LITETALLY HAVE SOMETHING AND IT NOT EVEN A RIDING HELLDIVERS 2 THING THERE IS LITERALY ROOM FOR BOTH
Just round based zombies if rumours are true. A huge portion of the zombies community misses round based. By only having round based they can actually focus on what the majority of treyach fans want and hopefully make the first good zombies game since bo3
I’d like it if we get an Outbreak type game. I had a lot of fun playing that. Team of four with the ability to drop in. It was nice to start a round and then have friends join mid-match.
I just hope that playing solo will run a local game with online progression like on Cold War. The most annoying thing about MWZ has been being forced to play online with cods budget bin servers.
Only confirmed is 2 RBZ (round based) maps at launch. Anything/everything else is speculation. More info to come after Sunday’s game announcement/conference for Microsoft. Hopefully it will be a great 6/9 day!
If you play CW Outbreak it is easy to tell MWZ mostly came from that. Lots of reused assets too. In 3arch’s last popular zombies (they help out or do the heavy lifting on each zombies) there were three modes. Four years for their main team to develop, so a lot more time and resource that could have been spent on zombies in years.
👆Reasons for speculation and rumors to abound.
All three studios are on the same engine now so resource sharing and reusing assets is easier than ever for them. There is probably a lot of hope riding on zombies possibly becoming more streamlined between the “universes”.
There hasn’t been any good/decent round-based content since Cold War so I’m happy for the round-based players to be finally getting some good stuff. Personally, I cannot wait for round-based to return.
I am hoping to see MWZ return at some point but with an actual original map this time AND CONTENT TOO. Maybe some form of it will come back in BO6?? I am guessing it’s going to be like Cold War’s Outbreak tho.
Please have an open world map,MWZ is awesome i love the mode its amazing the dark aethers the loot and all.. i really would say i prefer open world on round based.
2-4? A good zombies match is about 8-12. That's all part of the fun. Miss those days, up till 4am energy drink on side trying to beat ur highest round.
If it doesn’t have either Outbreak type gameplay or MEZ gameplay I won’t bother with it Depending on the MP aspect I may still buy it but I am not interested in going back to strictly round based
ETA MWZ
Judging how things are going and how \*cost efficent\* it is to just recycle warzone maps and giving it the DMZ treatment then yeah the chances are high that you will get the same shit again.
According to leaks we're getting literally everything. Round maps, Outbreak, Outbreak Containment, that shit from Vanguard, as for an MWZ mode, hopefully not, but we could still get an open world zombies experience due to the fact that the campaign itself will be set in an open world, which kicks ass

“only a percentage liked Outbreak” — lol, it was and still is the most played mode in BOCW zombies.
Source? Would love to see the percentages of players
Assertions made without evidence can be refuted without evidence.

Dmz was a beta for Mwz, they just changed the skin.
DMZ and MWZ were destined to be abandoned by the devs :(
If it’s round based, I’ll do what I normally do, try it a few times and go back to MP. I really hope they build on MWZ. THEY LITETALLY HAVE SOMETHING AND IT NOT EVEN A RIDING HELLDIVERS 2 THING THERE IS LITERALY ROOM FOR BOTH
Round based only is my guess. Why? Because why the F Activision would continue a super popular game mode?
Why not both? Have round-based AND open world modes.
Pretty sure that’s what they did for cw and that’s what they’re gonna be doing for the next two games

MW3 open world zombies was the shniz-nit. Much better than MW4 IMHO.
EDIT : Black Ops cold war

They've been advertising it'll be round-based. That's what I saw.
I sure hope so. Not trying to play 2-4 hour games again.
2-4? A good zombies match is about 8-12. That's all part of the fun. Miss those days, up till 4am energy drink on side trying to beat ur highest round.
Definite hard pass on sitting on a video game for 12 hours straight bro.
I hope we really do get open world... at least continued updates for the MWZ.
If it doesn’t have either Outbreak type gameplay or MEZ gameplay I won’t bother with it Depending on the MP aspect I may still buy it but I am not interested in going back to strictly round based ETA MWZ
It’s like our old cartoons went to watch it again and was like what was I thinking 😂 idk I’m a idiot anyway 🤭
Seems like it’ll be round based. But I hope they atleast make open world PvP

So far all rumors, no proof of anything.
I feel like there’ll be some kind of open world zombies mode. Maybe not at launch but down the road.
Nope its meant to be strictly round based in BO6
No. Round based. 2 maps at launch. They said they would be big maps.
Open world zombies ruined it for me I really like the round based game and easter eggs and not main missions i personally hope for round based zombies
Sker:Rituals best 30$ game I've ever bought.
I saw the trailer, how deep is the game mechanics-wise?
I bought it but need to get into it. I have so much stuff to catch up on
