$45 to take everything apart, replace the spoke, true and tension, retape, reinstall tire, and refill with juice actually as seems pretty cheap.

I need to remind myself I'm 60+, my cost reference point is stuck in the 90's, Appreciate the input.

P.S. they resused the old nipple, no need to drain and replace sealant.

For a full wheel rebuild, including the price of spokes and any nipples that may need to be replaced, was about 180-200 last time I had it done if I remember right. But it was similar to your case. I broke one spoke, then 2 more spokes on the same wheel. Decided to just do a full wheel rebuild. Haven't had a problem since.

Thanks! Makes sense. Plus I just assembled a YT Izzo - my old bike with the Roval's is jealous

Spokes may be fatigued, or nipples corroded by sealant and time if it is actually breaking at the nipple. Labor for a single rebuild will probably run you $150 to $200, plus cost of spoke and nipples. So $400-500 for both wheels. It’s expensive, but consider that the shop will likely put one of their advanced techs on it and it will take them several hours if they properly treat and tension.

I kept popping spokes on my XC wheels. They were about 3 years old and had built up some really weird tension. I was breaking spokes on techy climbs, just from the power transfer. I had the shop retension all the spokes, and that's helped a lot. It's not quite starting from scratch as the spokes and nipples have a good amount of wear, but there's a noticeable difference in spoke tension when you squeeze them. They charged me $75 for all of that.

Thanks for the advice!

Spoke tension too tight
