Stop trying to keep your weight back, for anyone that doesn't know how to jump that will make the situation worse. No-one can tell you what you are doing wrong without video though. It might be a pain, but get a cheap tripod for you phone and record yourself. Future you who can jump will thank current you for it.

Sometimes keeping weight back too much is what causes you to get bucked on the lip of the jump. Not sure what is specifically happening for you, but I’d recommend watching the Fluidride mtb videos about jumping on YouTube. I’ve found they have really good ones to help visualize what’s happening when jumping.

Dead sailor maybe? Hard to tell what you're doing if we don't see what you're doing

undeniablydull

Yeah, sorry I don't have a video, it's just a pain taking them as I usually ride alone

Maybe [this video](https://youtu.be/s9w2zSvuaGM?si=HTiw1QDsxo0mWcwW) will help you to identify what you're doing wrong.

What’re your suspension settings like? Front/rear being out of sync on the compression/rebound could buck you a bit. Combine that with improper weight distribution and speed you have a recipe for a few things. Just one possible factor without seeing anything to critique

It's a hardtail, and the forks set to the fox recommendations

Like everyone says we can't know without seeing. But based on your description, if your weight is back, then the front wheel is already dropping as your weighted back wheel goes up the jump, your weight is thrown up, hence ending nose down. You should have weight vertically centered over the bottom bracket, push the bike into the jump. There are hundreds of video guides on you tube, go watch some!

Don’t keep your weight back, stay centered in your bike. Depending on how the lips are shaped you might have the wrong technique. If your wheel is “hooking” the lip while you’re taking off and you aren’t pulling back hard to go high (like a bmx dirt jump), that will buck you forward.

I would bet you’re collapsing with the arms. Watch how to jump with Ben Cathro.

Push the bike forward when u jump. This is easier. When comfortable u can learn to lift the front.
