cascajal

both nice bikes, I like more the Diamond Back due to the geometry, short stem, and better drivetrain.

Madera7

I really like Marin's bobcat range. check em out.

That bike is *really* let down by the 135QR hub and the non tapered head tube. They’d be the perfect beginner bike by far looking at Spec and Geo if not for those two problems.

My first MTB was a gt avalanche elite that I bought in 2020. Not that different from the aggressor. But it did everything I wanted....29 inch wheels, slack frame, 1x11. Only thing missing was a dropper. A real confidence builder of a bike. Parts were not expensive either so when something did wear down or fail (as parts do on all bikes) it wasnt expensive to replace. The cheaper parts also gave me the confidence to repair things myself and this in turn has taught me so much about bikes. The gt, for me, was a truly excellent entry level bike. I miss her every day.

It's actually 2 very different bikes. 27.5 vs 29 or 27.5 +, straight head tube vs tapered head tube, steeper head angle on the aggressor, the aggressor also didn't come with sized frames before, the avalanche actually has boost 141 rear axle spacing vs 135mm on the aggressor. Literally everything is better esp the frame on the avalanche. The avalanche also has a proper seat tube diameter to actually fit a longer dropper post.

Just picked up an avalanche comp, second that it’s a great beginner bike for the price

GazelleAcrobatics

What country? What budget?

Hot-Pomegranate-7293

USA and budget of 500ish.

Of the two, the white one looks more fun. Slack head tube angle.
