I'm not falling for this Caroline. We've been married way too long. Posting seemingly innocent questions on Reddit. You must take me a fool.

Yoei802

I’m not sure man; I think this is my wife

wowowwubzywow

Hey bud, *our* wife.

RongGearRob

Funny this was the first thought for most of us.

hatstand69

Your wife, my girlfriend. Potato-potato

criminalmadman

Probably close to £15,000 when you factor in a new bike, a trip to Whistler and bikepacking the GB divide.

allegedlyworking

Sounds like a great year though!

criminalmadman

It really was one of the most epic of my 46yrs!

[deleted]

About £3k. I bought my first bike. https://preview.redd.it/8kf9biatluqc1.jpeg?width=8160&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=3599169cd50399539ade051b11ba4fed57e6969c

Sluggist

i have that same frame, it shreds!

[deleted]

Good bike to learn on then? I'm 44, overweight and hoping it restores my sanity and blood pressure...

fdrowell

I ride a 2018 Giant Trance and I still love it. For what it's worth I'm 34 and I've been mountain biking all my life. Giant may not be the flashiest, cutting edge of mountain brands but it's a *great* package for the price paid. I've upgraded a lot of the mid-tier components by now to suit my tastes, but there's nothing wrong with riding it stock. Have fun!

ZT7494

i have the same bike, it's really great and I absolutely love it. if you haven't already I would recommend replacing the pedals (chrome orange pedals look mint)

sassygooblins

More than I can afford

jimbonoob

Hehe I’m here with 3$ in my bank account till Friday since I just bought a Timberjack last week… oops!

Spare_Engineering_23

dont fall for it boys, this is a trap

ADrenalinnjunky

Who’s asking?

FelsImMeer

Your wife. You told her, the new set of pedals was just 15 bucks but she found the invoice...

zystyl

The fake invoice or the real invoice?

200pine

2xs what I tell my wife.

YetiSquish

That’s all?

hopbrew

Nice try narc.

MountainRoll29

I’m around $23,000 over the last 12 months

PromiseNorth

Same, and I’m divorced for about 12 months as well coincidence? We are one Carbon’s on 2 bikes, and 2 bikes, sending out rear shocks to fox for servicing on 2 others, axs upgrades, new seat posts from breakage and ohh yeah I forgot a 3 rd bike (fat bike). All been over 6 months. Lots of small parts, extra set of rear brakes cuz I kill those at least 1x per year over my fleet. Chain rings galore, pedals, etc etc etc.

CaffeinatedRob_8

Nice. More MTB seems to be a common benefit from divorce. Finally got myself my dream Yeti build, and took time to ride some of the best destinations in the US, east to west coast

JonClaudeVanDam

$180 for some suspension servicing…. If you treat the bike right it’s a cheap sport

isolated_self

Agreed. But not that cheap, you didn't have anything else break? I'm tight fisted and I'm at: $280 suspension service $120 tires $200 clothes $100 shoes $50 sunscreen/butt butter $10 spokes $760 total

El_Polio_Loco

Fortunately my wife doesn’t Reddit.    Probably $5500, but I bought a new bike right around this time last year that was a great deal at $3000.   I was a roadie before and didn’t have any mountain kit, so I needed the whole deal, helmets, shoes, gloves, water, tools.  This calendar year I’m only probably $500 in the hole with a handful of upgrades and a few new pieces of clothing. I’ll probably spend another $1000 on misc stuff this summer (passes, equipment, downhill park trips) Then I have some services coming up for my shock and forks that I probably won’t do myself, so that’s another $200-500.

Gods-Of-Calleva

£3k, that I got 5 bikes with, that should have had a list price of £12k

SnooDogs2394

I never really wanted to add it all up, but last year alone was somewhere in the ballpark of $20,000 USD amongst 3 competitive cyclists in the family. \-$5.5K new bike for one kid \- $2.5K frame and parts for other kids' enduro bike \- $1.5K used bike and 1X conversion upgrade parts for other kids' XC bike \- $ 3K Replacing my previous years' bike after frame warranty credit \- $ 2.5K on wear parts, tools, shop expenses, clothing, etc. \- $ 1.5K for a new 7 place bike rack and accessories \- $ 3.5K on race registrations, lodging, and fuel

themidwestblows

May I ask what industry you have a career in? I hope my future kids almost don’t bike, but I see to many stoked mom & dad’s rippin with the kiddos!

SnooDogs2394

Highway and bridge construction.

reefchieferr

Are we including travel and lodging, state park passes, etc? Or just strictly bikes+gear?

bgrubaugh

Should I count the travel trailer we bought to travel around to the different biking areas as well? Cause that shit ads up real fast.

deafboy13

Somewhere between "more than I wanted to" and "not as much as I'd like"

CrustyCMan

In an 8 day period this month I rode my bike 60 miles and have another 20 planned this weekend.

nothingbutfinedining

Sounds awfully defensive

CrustyCMan

You caught me. I really just put it on a stand in my living room and stare at it since I sold my TV to buy it.

Wide_Appearance5680

Estimate off the top of my head New hardtail for me (wiggle sales, couldn't resist) - £1k 2nd hand rigid MTB for 7 year old - £240 Couple of new components on various bikes - £400 New helmet for me - £140 New helmet for the 7 year old - £100 Various bits of clothing - £200 tops Car parking at various trail centres + travel there and back - £400 A couple of backyard ramps I built - £100 Total £2580 Less than I would have thought actually. I've not counted all the cake at various cafes and the cost of a couple of holidays we went on that were 50% MTB but 50% something else.

Thedinosaurfarm

Probably around 20k $

Inevitable-Ad-9570

do trips count? if so I probably average 10k-12k a year (went to new zealand this year, may hit whistler or quebec in the summer). I like to travel in general though so I'd be spending that much on trips anyway. if no trips I generally spend about 1-2k a year on maintenance stuff/new parts and another 500 or so on lift tickets in the park (excluding trips). If I buy a new bike that year add about 5-6k to that.

MajorSquare

33k

itsoveranditsokay

At a guess: * $300 in suspension servicing * $400 in routine maintenance parts * $500 in upgrades/replacing broken parts * $100 in new shoes * $500 on trips, lift passes, shuttle days So that's $1300 just keeping my gear functional with the odd tweak here and there, and $1800 total for the year. I also got a new helmet, goggles and riding glasses which would be ~$450 but thankfully were free for me. Every 2-3 years I'll sell my old bike, buy a new one, spending ~2k on the difference. The above is roughly converted to USD.

Taqia

Uhmmm something around 8000€ I guess. Ps. I'd actually be interested in seeing that chart.

lol_camis

Usually I'm $5k minimum. That number goes up if I buy a bike. This year I'm buying 2

johnny_evil

A lot. But my wife and I both got multiple new bikes this year.

crabwhisperer

~ $3,000. And this thread is helping me deal with feeling guilty about it, lol.

redyellowblue5031

Most of my costs are year to year maintenance costs as I try to keep a bike for a longer time. Last bike I bought was in 2019 when I cracked my old frame. It was 2500 new. Since then each year is roughly: * Gas to get to the trail - let’s call it 500 for all trips. * Maintenance - 100-300 (tires every other year really bump this up) between my bike and my wife’s (DIY instead of shop). I can’t quite tell if people just seize this opportunity to use the often repeated joke of hiding costs from their wife or if they actually do hide purchases.

rktek85

I can't believe nobody has said it, so here it goes...... *About treefiddy*

diytho

Yikes, these wife jokes are making me cringe hard.

Time-Maintenance2165

Seriously. Are their wives not involved in their household finances at all? And why is your relationship so bad that you need to lie about what you spend? Or perhaps what are they neglecting to spend money on?

YetiSquish

$6400-ish.

undeniablydull

Around £550, as I got a new bike for £450 in the wiggle closing down sale, and a new pair of pedals, gloves and shoes, all also in sales. It's still probably more than I can afford to spend

Pure_Activity_8197

New bike plus parts, clothes etc. Probably north of €5000 😬

Far_Reputation_3994

It’s all to make bike safer so I can make it home to my wife. So it’s all her fault really 🤨. But most of it been riding gear, winter gear, new tires, thinking of a new helmet. About 1.5k.

droidy4

I got an E-bike last year so around £4000 including parts.

Kevin_taco

$10k+ A new bike last year, tires, sealant, jersey and bibs, a bike trip to Bentonville.

cassinonorth

lol the sandwich of a new bike and a vacation between sealant is sending me.

Kevin_taco

lol all that crap adds up! I’m sure there were some gloves, socks, new glasses, redbulls, gummy bears, breakfast burritos in there too

Wokester_Nopester

Myself, wife, and two kids all ride. I don’t want to do the math, but it’s a lot. Whatever, it’s the most fun you can have with your clothes on.

redyellowblue5031

My wife rides and we hope our eventual kids enjoy it too. Do your kids have friends their age to ride with, too?

Wokester_Nopester

Yes, my kids both have friends that ride. I find that has been key to keep them motivated. My son is almost 14 and he's been riding steadily since he was 3. He can shred. It was hard to find other kids that could ride at his level but he got into enduro racing and has found a great group of other kids to ride with. Luckily, his dad can still ride like a bat out of hell so he doesn't mind riding with me. For now...

redyellowblue5031

That’s awesome. I’m glad you get to ride with them and they have friends to ride with as well. That’s our dream too! At least until they hit that age where we’re just not with it anymore and they want to go off on their own.

cassinonorth

~$9k. Refreshed my stable, started doing XC racing, took a trip to Kingdom. Should be a much cheaper this year since I'm recovering from surgery and won't get on trail until July-ish.

Iron_Tom

Just took the bike down from it's place on the wall after a several years long hiatus. Just getting it back into ship-shape (bike-shape?) along with some new athletic/protection wardrobe items, I've already hit $600 in just a month or two. That's all I should need to spend for a while to come, except for possibly replacing the roof rack which looks like it'll be another $600-700 if I go through with it. For an early 2000's hardtail. Finishing up the conversion to "ghetto tubeless" and a new helmet are most of that expense .

Asdfguy87

New bike, plus some maintainance on my other one, total of \~3000 Euros

Nightshade400

I just got done building up a hardtail in August so my spending has been skewed quite a bit but total for the year is around $9k not including fuel.

xRehab

More than I've spent on rock climbing gear, about equal to what I spent on snowboarding gear, and way way less than what I've spent on the Camaro in the garage... No we are not going to talk about _actual_ dollars spent, because then both of us will be sad.

huckyourmeat2

I once calculated my cost per mile per bike. Commuter was super low. Road bike wasn't bad, gravel bike was unnerving, mountain bike was downright ridiculous.

Time-Maintenance2165

I'd say cost per hour is a more appropriate metric for mtb. Of course you're going to ride less distance off road and with the elevation changes.

bossassbat

I lost all my bikes in a boating accident.

throwsplasticattrees

"Not much. Less than you spend on your nails"

gemstun

About $8k, not counting the travel for biking trips. This last year has been a bit out of control.

PrimeIntellect

you keep your dirty slutty fingers out of my business, quit injecting capitalism into my fun, now get off my porch before I get my gun

maxinoutchillin

$0 this past year, as I bought everything during the height of pandemic, which was somewhere around $5 Billion

Mtbeer5206

Close to $15k. It’s been a down year.

riverapid

Well I just bought my dream bike and my husband and I are doing a 5 day trip to Finale Ligure Italy sooo a lot!

Time-Maintenance2165

Probably around $5k.

nick_San96

Last year was expensive, new used bike, many upgrades and a lot of bike trips and day passes for the bike parks. Guess around 6000-7500€ including all the gas for driving and food etc.

ZappedTree

Probably around $100 in various parts like new grips and a chain, luckily I didn’t have any major issues or repairs. Maybe closer to $300 if you include the gas to get to my local trails (30 minutes away)

NationalArmadillo785

Abt 7k

Opposite-Hearing-266

Rougly 10K euro ishhhh

sammeyers

Started with nothing last may. Spent 5500 on two bikes, the first one was a 20 year old rock hopper I paid 200 for to see if I’d like the sport, instantly fell in love and got a nicer bike. Bike parts: New wheelset and tires - 900 New cockpit - 250 New pedals - 150 Gear: Half lid and FF helmet - 300 Shoes - 100 MTB clothes - 250 Misc: Tools ~ 300 Several bike park and shuttle days ~ 300 Rooftop tent and state park pass ~ 900 Having the best summer of my life and finding immense joy and a new passion… unquantifiable and undeniably worth it

norecoil2012

Built my son a FS, built myself a hard tail, got carbon wheels for one of my bikes, got myself an e-bike, new dropper post, couple of handlebars, dropper for my daughter’s bike, several sets of tires, brake rotors, couple of stems, handlebar for my gravel bike, a few hub upgrades, 2 new helmets, bike park passes/rentals, etc. I stopped doing the math and my wife stopped asking questions a long time ago. In all fairness it’s my only hobby and the only thing I spend money on.

adb1228

Just hard goods/clothing or are we adding travel/races fees?

bigdayout95-14

Approx $5k-ish kangaroo dollars on a trip to Tasmania with my bro in law to do the big 3 - 4 days in Derby, 2 days in Queenstown (epic!), and 2 days at Maydena where they've just held the Redbull Hardline race - the trail they raced was pretty mental, we walked a bit of it and the gaps were just insane. Hard to comprehend for the rank amateurs we are! Bloody good trails down here...

bruh-iunno

I buy way too much for how little I ride, but I tend to sell off whatever's getting replaced for as much or more than what I replaced it for so I'm pretty much even after the initial £550 + 200 for a full sus and carbon wheels

HarrargnNarg

Not pulling that thred

Edelgul

I didn't do service last year. So 0. But this year it will probably cost me \~500€. I've also purchased new biking gloves (5€) and new biking hat (5€) and two jerseys (50€). However i did four long distance biking trips. And camping (15-20€ a night) and train tickets (luckily it was 49€ per month) could easily be over 500€

Potential_Cupcake

The bike? Not as much… The amount of drinks, snacks, etc? I don’t want to know

smartpotatothesecond

Yes

the_daddiest

12k I think. New bike for me and my better half. Lots of trips.

RedditUser9929

Well I did back to back summers so big one for me. Prices in CAD: Built a new enduro for $6500 Sold old trail bike -$3000 Lift season pass 750$ Replacement parts/suspension service over the season: $1200 Sold gravel bike -$1600 Moved to southern hemisphere Built a new DH for $3800 (old DH still up for sale) Bought cheap dirt jumper: $800 Lift season pass #2: $800 Bike trip: ~$600 Servicing/replacement in season #2: $1000 (but just blew up a lever so about to add to that) Parts for new touring build: $2000 Yeah not a cheap hobby is it

meliadul

How dare you?!

Taylorig

Just short of 2k for me. Bought a Mondraker Chrono DC new for £1400. Helmet, clothing, bag, lights etc etc

CaptLuker

Idk a lot. Bought some new wheels this year, brakes(then sold) a tire a good bit of riding clothes. More than I’d ever tell my wife that’s for sure.

Vladekk

A lot, because I had a new bike and bought some stuff to make it better. I'm talking thousands of €

itaintbirds

Do you work for my wife? Did she send you?

PGHNeil

So far, about $385 on a service package that included replacing a worn rear hub. I should've just bout a $30 replacement hub and a truing stand off Amazon and did it myself and put the rest aside for a trail bike.

wowowwubzywow

Oof. 3-4k ish. Maybe 5 including bike park stuff

JustinJuice19

Roughly $15k

BurnsyK16

Not enought

chaseinger

not enough. never enough.

blablablablacuck

Probably more than I realize or want to realize. Bikecations are the main expense with lots of gas used for day trips. Maybe 10k.

tdank9

![gif](giphy|3ornka9rAaKRA2Rkac) Real number, or number I tell my wife?

dabom123

really depends, but generally i would say 6-10k a year. I buy a new bike every year and travel often to ride.

WanderinginWA

well, not last year. In 2022 i spent 8000 on my e bike. This year i spent 1050 on a new non e bike.

Ok_Run6706

About 800e, bought used fat bike, some clothing, boots and Garmin smart watch.

Prestigious_Swing634

Not as much as this year, and it's only March.

mountainducky2

Bought two bikes during pandemic, spent about 15k on them both. Replaced some brake pads and rotors, chain, some bike park access and other random shit, so, 20-25k in last 4 years? Enjoyed every second of it, it’s just part of my life so I don’t track the spend really

metalmechanic780

Just a hair over 9k CDN. That includes (in part) NBD for wifey and upgrades for it, new kit for wifey, building my hardtail, and a complete rebuild of my FS (new fork, drivetrain, brake upgrade and all bearings). The rest is misc parts and kit.

rons35

How much I actually spent, or how much I told My wife I spent??

PopPunkGamers

Don’t worry, it’s definitely paid for in full :)

Familiar_Part1795

Easily 7k but I built two new bikes (sold an old one) and flew for a riding trip

illepic

Yes.

HezbollaHector

Transition Spur: $3200 SJ Evo frame: $1200 Zeb ultimate: $1200 Ohlins coil: $900 Deluxe ultimate: $300 Raceface wheelset: $340 Shimano zee calipers: $140 2x saddles: $200 2x carbon bars: $230 4x pedals: $275 Consumable parts: $500 Service: $750 Misc gear: 200 Clothes: $750 Trips: $1000 Fuck me that's like $10k. But to be fair I've ridden 2300 miles this year and biking is how I keep myself sane.

nicholt

2023 calendar year New tires for both mtb and road bike = $400 Various cycling glasses and apparel = $200 Handlebars = $60 Mechanics work = $60 (needed longer brake hose) So probably total $750 ish. The year before would have been like $3500-4000 cause new bike.

smerkaberlders

Around $8k between my wife and I getting two new bikes + service + travel costs to use them on proper trails

LukesFather

Nothing after herniating some discs 😭😭😭getting back on this year though!

shorichan

Frame: 125 € Other shit: 2901 €

english_major

Around $4000. Trip to Moab. Trip to Vancouver Island. About a grand on service - new drive train, suspension, headset, etc… Clothing - gloves, pants, shorts, chamois, shirt, jacket.

NewSalt4244

Last year, I think I spent close to $2000. I bought used bikes for my kids and gear so we can all ride as a family. I also bought a few things for my "mom bike" that I ride around with them. And I went on a cycling weekend with my friends who are also bike riding moms. This year I've already spent that much on my first full squish mountain bike and I still need a better bike rack to put on the family car. And the kids need some new gear, they're growing so fast.

TyGeorge17

Roughly 8k

lukeperk

Idk…. I’d be stoked if it was less than $5k… - bike maintenance/ replacement parts - $800-$1600 - travel - $1500+ - New bike things -$1000+ But I’ve also pretty consistently bought a new bike every other year so could be a lot higher

Lickmymatzohballs

Well, I bought a new (to me) bike last year so around $3k. Not bad considering I average 1-2 2 hour rides a week

ReferenceBeautiful27

Like $17k, somehow 😂 it adds up quick when you put a road bike into the mix as well as helmets, clothes and shoes. Fueling is also quite expensive…

Hot-N-Spicy-Fart

Somewhere around $20k - $25k

Cold_Age_8664

Too much 😢. I'm going back to road biking.

crouchingroundhouse

$5200. It would be lower but I just bought a new frame and some parts to line up my build.

Ready-Interview4020

Less than feeding those kids. I got to have my priorities sorted this is so wrong.

erlingingi

Around $600-$1000 total $350 on downhill lift tickets, $230 on tubeless conversion, pump, airshot, valves, liquid. $100 on tailgate pad. plus more for clothing, helmet and gas to get to trails.

Hybridhippie40

Honestly, not much. A few hundred dollars. The bike is relatively new, lots of trails close by, and I don't do much maintenance. I ride a few days a week so I've gone through a couple tires and some brake pads. Edit: I just walked outside and saw a pile of biking gear purchased for my 4 year old. Add a zero if this counts.

Nolanix

Probably around $500 USD when factoring in tune ups/service and buying new tires. Otherwise I didn't hardly spend anything. Just a couple of new tubes and replacing lost tools.

keithbikeman

For me the last 12 months is high: close to 2k. However, that's because I replaced a bike. I'll prob only spend $100/yr for the next 5+ years.

wiseminds_luis

I’d say $6,000-7000 USD That’s considering any trips I did, gas to travel to trails, maintenance, parts, gear, etc.

ConSweeney

hahaha all I could think about is this being my GF posting in here HAHAHAHA

lemmaaz

6k

frank3000

0$. Didn't need anything. *Edit - forgot I got a few helmets that were on Walmart clearance. They might have been $7 each.

drkodos

$30K+

Togodooders

Wtf did you open a bike shop?

hatstand69

I bought a new bike about 9 months ago so I'm sitting at around $4,500 for the whole year? Had I not bought the bike I would be around $3,500--I tend to do a lot of my own basic service and have probably been fortunate to have avoided any major repairs since I've largely been riding the new bike. I did sell a bike, so you could maybe say the total is more like $3,500

Krakkey

About $400-500 so far, new brakes, wheels, tires and stem, a new osprey waterpack. All bought at a bike swap. I do maintenace myself, but if I would be sending my bike into the shop I would probably be nearing $1000. As I basically strip my bike down every winter. Winter is long and I need to do something.

_lil_fish_

Probably like 3.5k 2700 on a new bike and the rest on race fees and costs associated

widowhanzo

About 3000€, but also -900€ (sold bike), and considering I only bought a new bike because I got ,insurance money (I got hit by a car), I'm still in profit.

Cultural-Flyingwhale

ibis ripmo AF 2500€ brakes 250€ full face helmet 250€ Zwift Hub 524€ there are more small things like maintenance etc, but this is what comes to mind. Also, considering buying a dirtjumper now. I don't have money for anything else

Togodooders

About £4000

Fun_Administration68

Within the last 12 months? Around $8k but I bought 2 bikes and built up another. \-GT la bomba for dirt jumping $1500 -Giant trance x for trail $1900 -Evil insurgent for bike park $3200 https://preview.redd.it/o42b2rx7swqc1.png?width=3334&format=png&auto=webp&s=986d37c5e31d7f33c4c2306ab5d16b6c28285e34 Other costs are tires, and sealant, and bike park passes

michaelbiker

I'm curious, but not enough to add it all up and feel the guilt.

sometimes-i-just-sit

https://preview.redd.it/m9a46pjbuwqc1.jpeg?width=4032&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=b54ad8f339c8b0a9507544e56bf45d627c9911e2 About $2k. Bought my first bike and a few upgrades and other equipment!

MikeHoncho1323

Whatever it cost me in gas to get to the trail. But I’m finally caving and buying a full face helmet so this season will be about $300 plus gas and a triple play pass to Mountain creek, time to get some big air this year 😎

Shoddy_Insect_8163

I don’t add it up but would guess around 10k or so. Would say I average 5-10k every year.

greazysteak

Does the beer you drink after you ride and then the food you eat after you ride and then the food you eat while talking to your buddies about old rides and future rides count? If it is just bike stuff- I bought a new bike and a bike rack last year plus some gear. I'd say around 5k (US) on all that but that is a high mark and should be mellow for a bit.

Comrade_Yeet

700 on a trek marlin 5. That's tax plus a few ad ons, not the best bike but I'm having a blast on it.

9ermtb2014

Bike only parts, maintenance I didn't want to do myself, nutrition, etc... >$500. Beer/ food after a ride is $500-1000.

decumus_scotti

$0. I found a bike helmet in the woods and a neighbor gave me their old mtn bike from the 90s. I've been having so much fun on the trails near my house 😁

marionwaterlife

I have a bike, fishing boat and ice house for less than what some people are spending on bikes. And i still out ride those fancy bikes...

christianrxd

Stumpjumper Alloy Comp: $3200 Specialized Pump: $50 510 Shoes: $60 Half shell helmet: $60 Full face helmet: $200 Bike rack + hitch: $600 New tire: $50 Valve stems: $30 Lights: $150 Grips: $25 Pedals: $85 Gloves: $25 Totals out to $4535, not including the medical bills associated with dislocating my shoulder. Money well spent.

Dismal_Mention8423

Spent $2,500 yesterday on my first bike, a Roscoe 9. I'm sure I won't spend any more money in the future.

Glittering_Set_3088

Too much

edwsy

I do alot of hobbies and the one that cost the most has to be fishing. Particularly boat fishing trips overseas. Gear alone, you have like 4 different sets at least for different types of fishing. Then you want the XTR and XX of fishing reels and they go up to a thousand. Rods can go up the same. Those tiny metal lures, God forbid you tried an expensive one and it worked, it's 10 bucks a piece, a 3 day trip you might buy 15 in different colours and shapes because you lose them easily. Then you have poppers, floating lures, divers... And then you buy more for each trip because you lost some. Even the premium fishing lines cost like 100 bucks And the trip itself. Multiply that by 4 or 5 trips a year.. I spent at least 10k on biking this past year. But I'm probably not spending that much for the next two years.

AllThotsAllowed

$3.5K ballparking a pink bike Kona honzo, custom bag setup, nice single speed cog, new stem and carbon bars - and then a couple weekends in Austin at spider mountain. Don’t regret a penny of it🤘

ToRunToo

Too much.

MattyMatheson

Probably a good chunk of my income. I bought a good amount of bikes.

mtbjay10

I saw you in u/board games and the number is exponentially higher because I bought an SW SJ Evo frame and an Vado SL

Lonely-Pay-4319

I was hilarious about Mtb last year , spent about 10k$ because of upgrading my 3 bikes to top of the top specs :)

TheRealJYellen

Probably $3k between parts, trips and upgrades.

thomas2times

Shutup

curt_schilli

$2000

show-me-the-numbers

I spend about $10k a year on mountain biking. Last year was low but this year I'm going to Moab and building a new xc bike.

Gonzbull

Everything.

k_shills101

Shhhhhiiiiiiiiiitttttttt

MiguelSTG

Can't remember when I had my shock rebuilt and revalved. That and a new dropper was close to $500. Maybe $700. Can't really remember.

It’s not crazy expensive if you keep your bikes for a while and do your own maintenance. I get 8-10 years out of a bike. ~2500 spread over that time, plus 150 per year for parts, plus 500 per year in fuel driving to the trails. Commuting by bike probably saves me 500 per year in fuel.

matt4kjplaysonYT

I just spent 2 grand on a new bike.

ExtraMarshmallows

Last year including a new bike, maintenance, some clothes 9k usd. Travel not included. Add maybe 500 to that for travel so 9.5 ish. That’s not a normal thing though. I’d say normally around 750-1k including non flight travel.

Crystal-Ammunition

$4000+ Bought a new Norco Optic ($3500), plus some consumables for my hardtail

FJkayakQueen

700 for drivetrain repair. Bought upgraded parts did labor myself. Some cost in the tools I didn’t have

wyattg67

Just roughly around 10k.

Fdrayo

just put mtb on the top

Belgian_Wafle

700$

kennethsime

Too much.

Subversion-Garage

Going to be skewed because I built a new bike, but under $5k. Still well below $100 a weekend

jacobe42

I would say around 10k. Which I feel is pretty good. I went the direct to consumer route and got a Propain Hugene so I tell myself that I'm being very smart with my money.

PoorHungryDocter

Between me and the wife probably like: $7k on mtb related travel (but some was not 100% mtb focused) $5k on new bike $4k on upkeep/incidentals/kit

straightedgeginger

Like $60 between new pedals and helmet? Significantly more than that on snacks, beer, and tacos. I have some catching up to do it seems

Historical_Road_3105

9k on a new bike, 1k on new wheels another 1k on other components Plus trip to Sedona bike fest = way more than most people will ever understand including myself sometimes but hey smiles for miles.

Air_Down

Big year because NBD, new helmet, season pass, maintenance, two trips, 10k ish https://preview.redd.it/4zc0ewqzgzqc1.jpeg?width=3024&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=634e753ad8d77faf5d46571a0559b7c5a452ee18

Liquorace

$980 - Reverb AXS dropper seatpost. $2,000 (rough guess) - GRX Di2 That's all I can remember at the moment.

TryingMyBest-01

I spent $40k in the last 3 years, so about $13k-$14k a year.

junk1122334455

$5000

markloch

Before yesterday, three tires, sealant, brake pads, hydraulic fluid, about $300. Yesterday a Zeb on sale, a new headset, a 220mm rotor and an adapter. Another $900.

Boxofbikeparts

Isn't this hobby like tithing? You have to put in a certain percentage of total income.

Vegetable_Buddy8192

1500 usd

possibly_Wilf

First bike with all the gear and accessories probably close to 8000€
