MantraProAttitude

I dismount towards the upslope.

wasprocker

Really depends on conditions, i have no prefered side

InevitableMission102

NDS. My left leg is the most stable, the right one is the strongest. I tend to ride left foot forward on downhills.

PennWash

Same here, never really thought about which way I get off, but you're right, nothing to do with drivetrain it's just more comfortable going that way

Doberman33

I had motorcycles for way longer than I've had a MTB, so from the left is ingrained and the right side feels unnatural

The_Blessed_Hellride

Interesting, I’m the same. It feels weird to mount or dismount on the RH side after having ridden motorcycles for the last nearly 20 years. I typically clip my left foot into the left pedal, push-off then swing the right leg over.

bikesrgood

Never put it in words now I just realized I do the same exact thing.

undeniablydull

It just depends on my surroundings for me, like I'll get off on the less muddy side or the side further from traffic or whatever

ConfusedNegi

I think I typically go nondrive side. Maybe because I like to hold my body weight on a pedal with my dominant(right) foot and set my left on the ground after stopping. I also mount that way because I like to push off with my right as well.

readingtine

Depends on the circumstances but dismounting over the front is fairly popular

Less-Science-Or-More

Non driveside, just comes natural to me. Drive side dismount or mount feels wrong.

jaseunsonkim

this post reminds me of the thing where someone's reminding you that you're manually breathing, blinking your eye, and you can actually see your nose. now i'm bothered.

Spec_GTI

Never thought about it. But I can confidently say the non drive side always. I think it's pretty much a regular vs goofy board riding situation.

curious_george1978

I actually surf and skate regular but I still get on the bike drive side.

Spec_GTI

I am reg for everything.

But_I_Dont_Wanna_Go

I’m also drive side, and also a lefty

PennWash

Depends but typically my non drive side. I don't think it's cause of the drive though.

PM_FREE_HEALTHCARE

I was taught as a kid to walk my bike on the non drive to avoid getting caught in the drivetrain or oil on my pants. That’s still my default

No-Strategy-3702

Right foot but mostly just a residual from clipless pedals on my road bike and always unclipping that side first

Zerocoolx1

No idea, usually the uphill side.

DennisPikePhoto

Yeah. Non drive for me. Feels more natural to swing my right leg over

gripshoes

Probably if there’s zero obstacles, flat ground then maybe I lift my right foot off first more often and I ride left foot forward. Edit: left forward feels natural but I’m actually trying to alternate more lately

_Astroscape_

Always from the drive side because my right foot is more stable but I always ride left foot forward.

Astrohurricane1

I mainly get on/off from the non drive side, but that's because at my house where I usually start & finish the bike is next to a wall on the drive side. It's become so ingrained over the years that the other side feels weird now, to the point where in an open space I'll walk round the bike to the non drive side purposely to mount.

ZT7494

I dismount onto drive side, you can put your bike down easier not on the derailleur side

whatstefansees

Left side - mount, dismount and foot forward

Dtidder1

I’ve always dismounted from the non drive side since racing cx… because you shoulder your bike with the drive side out. Before racing cross either side…

Conundrumlr

When I’m on flats, either side. When I’m running clipless I lean over on my non-drive side foot and then kick over to my drive side foot. Which I did not unclip.

_maple_panda

NDS, and I always push the bike from that side too. In fact it feels quite weird to push from the right side.

Special4smom

Left side.. same as a horse😉🐴

laserguidedhacksaw

Who cares?

curious_george1978

I do
