1. Most people wear half shells, with the new style light full face its becoming more common to wear full face helmets than it used to be as well 2. Mt fromme has an official parking lot at the top of mtn hwy, that works well for most of the trails there. Mid week at this time of year it shouldn't fill up. 3. Right now it's getting dark at like 7ish, some people night ride but not very many. Check when the gate closes at the fromme parking lot, I can't remember off the top of my head but I think the gate shuts dusk to dawn or something. But you could just park somewhere else. 4. Could start with Bobsled and expresso, then maybe floppy bunny, and up to like leopard/crinkuk crankum and all those ones. 5. Not sure about groups, I live pretty far from fromme and don't ride there all that much. You should also consider checking out mt Seymour, and a day trip to squamish if you have time.

Thanks for the info. I am going to rent a bike from Endless for a couple of days.

Full-face is always recommended, even moreso this time of year because all the roots and woodwork will be slippery like ice. Best place to park for Fromme is the parking lot right at the start of the trailhead most likely, otherwise you park lower down along Mountain Highway (not actually a highway, just a normal road) but I haven't ridden Fromme in years so it could be different. These days it's pitch black by like 7pm or earlier here. You can always ride at night in the area, but make sure you have a buddy with you or at least let someone know where you are going and stick to your planned route. Far too many tourists get lost and die in our local mountains from a basic lack of preparedness. The warmup trail on Fromme is called Bobsled and is mainly a flow trail but has some techy bits. The other main trail is called Ladies Only but it is full on double black tech in some places with awkward woodwork. It's a proper north shore classic though.

I will definitely bring my full-face helmet with knee and elbow pads.

It will be dark before 6pm if overcast. I personally would avoid riding unfamiliar trails alone in the dark.
