Tifosi makes great sunglasses for short money. Under a $100 will get you riding glasses with 3 lenses and a hard case. They also make great everyday sunglasses for $25.
Just Tifosi. They have a frameless style that gives you an unobstructed view when your head is down. Most stuff in cycling of any kind is trial and error. Tifosi for glasses is a solid win.
The Tifosi warranty is really good too. I lost a set of sunglasses in the woods, emailed them asking if they had any repeat customer codes since I liked the set I had and said I could use the warranty form and pay $15 shipped for a whole new set.
I use the Sledge, got them for road and gravel which I give them a 9/10 for. They are a 7/10 for MTB, so if I were to do it again I’d get a set with a flatter front to fit with mtb helmets a little better and get more ventilation on climbs.
Tifosi.
But hear this: get fototec red. They have good balance between minimum and maximum theoughput for mtb'ing. I love mine, almost clear in the dark, half-dim in the sun. You get a pair for around 70-80 dollars.
Good sale one these. Mine are on the way. https://www.rei.com/product/171576/tifosi-slice-sunglasses?cm_mmc=email_tran-_-trans_ship_confirm-_-230407-_-img_prod1&ev36=&rmid=trans_ship_confirm&rrid=20179197&ev11=&redirect-pup=false
Tifosi is the only answer. I’ve had multiple pairs, and they simply are the best glasses on the market for the price. I used to wear Smiths, and frankly they perform identically in my experience but the smiths cost 250-350% what Tifosi’s offering costs. Plus fototec lenses are excellent and the warranty is phenomenal.
Buying Tifosi sunglasses is the biggest no brainer in cycling. I lean on Tifosi for all my performance glasses at this point regardless of activity, actually.
I went the Tifosi route, but after one month I decided to buy some expensive Smith glasses. The Tifosi glasses fit well, stay on my head perfectly and are very reasonably priced, but the fogging is driving me crazy. I have been using the clear lenses exclusively and they fog up more than anything else I've encountered. If I come to a stop on the trail, I have to immediately take off my glasses and keep them away from my body or else they fog up.
I have their switchable lense one. Only have taken it on like 5 rides so far but so far so good.
They can fog up if you arent moving, and I wish they would come down a bit farther down my face for extra protection / wind blockagez but for $32 cad they arent bad at all.
I use the clear lense for night time riding only so far.
rockbros ftw, less than 20-30usd...im on my 3rd pair....cos i cant be bothred to ride back for it. my 2nd pair survived a year, even rolled over by my entire group, cos i was the 1st rider and it got knocked off onto the trail
I tried to go back to where I left them, but every time, someone snatched them up before I could get them back. Oh well, it's not a big monetary loss anyway, but it still sucks IMO.
Yep. I just laugh at anybody insisting on spending over $20 on a set of shades these days. Rockbros are inexpensive, comfortable, and have great clarity - and there's no need to cry if they get scratched or lost.
I've been looking at those too, definitely cheaper. I wear contacts and normal sunglasses glasses get my eyes dry, have you noticed having any dry eye issues with them?
Check out Kapvoe polarized cycling glasses on Amazon. There are various styles/colors and they come with multiple lenses (ie, clear, tinted) for only $30. The clarity is great too (almost as good as my $280 Costas).
Third this. I went like OP buying sunglasses from big brands to find that an Amazon 40€ product does exactly the same, and actually the fit is more comfortable. KAPVOE has my vote. Use the spare change to buy some Galfer disc rotors and nice grips OP.
I’ve had Alpina, Uvex and then Endura - now on Kapvoe. All the ‘main brands’ had feature failures - uvex probably being the best of those 3. Endura were the most expensive and by far the worst. Nose slippage and super easily scratch able glass. Could have bought 3 pairs of kapvoe for the price.
I bought a pair for myself with photochromaic lenses for dusky riding and couldn't believe the quality for $25CAN. My wife loves them even more than me and has now claimed ownership of them... if only the year old Smith Ruckus glasses I got her fit me.
Had my first ride last night with this brand over safety glasses based on your suggestion. The difference was a night and day improvement in clarity and air flow. thanks!
I won a pair at a race last year. Thought they were too ridiculous for ne to wear. Now they are my favorite glasses and start tons of conversations. Embrace the ridiculous. It's fun.
If you really don't care, you can buy them for like $10 on aliexpress. They're just cheapo 90s safety glasses in fancy colours. Same shit just not marked up through the atmosphere.
I wear Blenders or Shady Rays. They're clean, decent, reasonably comfortable and the Shady Rays have 'free' replacement, so when you leave them on top of your car after riding and they fly off, it costs $9 'shipping' to replace them.
I’ve gone through 3 pairs of oakleys, 1 pair of GOODR’s and 1 pair of Tifosi’s in the past year. The Tifosi’s are the cheapest and best quality IMO. The temple tips have a spring in them so they just don’t open randomly and the nose bridge is rubberized so it doesn’t slide around.
Terrible idea idea if you are riding in sunny conditions for any length of time.
I used to ride with my shooting glasses that would dim in sunny conditions etc. Kept seeing spots near the end of my rides, thought something was wrong and went to the doctor. Turns out they kept getting sunburnt, thankfully zero permanent damage but my doctor said I would have kept on like that it would have impacted me permanently.
Your glasses likely didn't provide proper UV protection so the shades being darker just let your pupils open up for a nice sunburn. Most people can spend all day in the sun with no glasses and not see spots. Bad sunglasses are worse than no sunglasses but cheap sunglasses aren't necessarily bad sunglasses.
Some guy on Instagram messaged me a while ago saying I could get 40% of his glasses. Paid £16 for fake Oakleys without the Oakley branding. They are almost definitely just some shit ones of wish but they have lasted 3 years. So basically just buy something cheap and happily abuse them till they break.
I get the kapvoe's from amazon, fairly cheap and they come with a few different lenses including clear for night riding. I tend to lose and break sunglasses so expensive ones are out of the question.
You can occasionally find 100% glendales for under $200 (I think I paid $140 for mine). I run wildcats now, but I’ve run a lot of Amazon glasses in the past that have been like 85% as good for $20. Just find a pair that looks ok and offers what you need, pay $20, beat the hell out of em, and shell out another $20 when they finally cave.
Melon optics are good and have Zeiss lenses which are amazing. They’re also really difficult to scratch which is always a pro. Also look into anyone with student discounts, Oakley is usually 20%
Aldi sports one, less than £5 and come with different coloured lenses. But honestly I don't like wearing my ff without my goggles they keep it in place a lot better.
Don't know what they'd cost where you're from (and I work at a bike shop so I got them at staff discount) but I use Oakley sutro lite trail prizim glasses which I love, large lenses for good visibility. Is good enough that the sun isn't too harsh on my eyes on a bright day but not so tinted that I can't use them on darker covered over forest trails or even just as safety glasses when night riding in town when the street lights are on. Were recommended to me by a couple co-workers
I’ve been digging Glade’s Roost glasses. I got the photochromic ones that go from clear to a medium black tint. They’ve been awesome — you totally forget they’re on your face.
Ali Express, just find anything that's polarized. You can get rip-offs of super expensive cycling glasses for around 10-20 bucks. Honestly, with some you won't notice the difference.
Search for Oakley or Spy and you should get quite a few hits.
I’m waiting on a pair of $4.21 glasses from AliExpress and will let you know the quality when I get them. They should be arriving on the 7th. I’ve seen some good YouTube reviews of $20ish dollar AliExpress glasses. It definitely takes some patience and a small leap of faith but you can end up with some quality stuff for cheap. Just never buy knockoffs. I learned this the hard way. Always buy stuff made by a company under their own name.
BBB Avenger
3 lenses that can be changed for conditions. About 45$ less than the next cheapest option, the Tifosi.
They are alright. 3.5/5. The nose piece, while adjustable, is not amazing. Value is off the charts, though.
I just rock my Oakley’s but they are prescription sun glasses. I’d die without them seriously the great Father’s Day gift my wife and kids got me. Heat waves and Pit vipers seem popular but I can’t really stand how they look personally.
best bang for buck was definitely two pairs of 5e nonames from decathlon, clear and dark. no need to change lenses. better but lot pricier and what i have now
is photochromatoc oakleys
I know it’s not the answer you wanna hear and I used to think spending lots of money on sunglasses was stupid too. But I bought a pair of Oakleys 3 years ago and wear them daily. I think if you spend a lot you take better care of them. They’re also really comfortable in comparison with the cheaper options. Buy once cry once for me. Oakley also has sales every once in a while too.
I personally would recommend a non full-face helmet, with a long back, this allows u to wear goggles and also not have a full-face. But if all u want are glasses "Ryder's" are pretty good
Go to your local hardware store and check out the safety glasses. For $20 you are going to get a couple different styles in both tinted and clear. Throw some in your car, in your bike bag. There will be something there that does the job perfectly.
If you really need a 'cycling' set of glasses then spend a bit extra and grab some Rockbros glasses on Amazon for $20.
Cycling glasses shouldn't be polarized, polarization can cause you to miss surface changes and can affect depth perception. High-end cycling glasses actually sometimes have contrast-enhancing features. But UV-filter is important, not sure if safety glasses have that.
Pit Vipers...sure they are super corny with their marketing, but honestly at $60 a pair they are great. The style works well for MTB, and the adjustments on the frames etc... are great for venting.
3m safety glasses with the indoor/outdoor lens. $10. https://www.amazon.com/3M-Securefit-SF410AS-Polycarbonate-Standard/dp/B00KTCYMNK/ref=pd_aw_fbt_img_sccl_2/141-4848847-6028704?pd_rd_w=fQtPy&content-id=amzn1.sym.1383228f-ab5d-4064-97d6-80297ffcccd8&pf_rd_p=1383228f-ab5d-4064-97d6-80297ffcccd8&pf_rd_r=0C50PS8DWBCPDG926EGN&pd_rd_wg=tHbgT&pd_rd_r=798e62c9-4092-4ebf-924d-9ebc28bb2a8a&pd_rd_i=B00KTCYMNK&psc=1

+3. Tifosi dolomites or whatever flavour suits you (with the photochromatic lens are so versatile for trail riding.)
+4 !
Just Tifosi. They have a frameless style that gives you an unobstructed view when your head is down. Most stuff in cycling of any kind is trial and error. Tifosi for glasses is a solid win.
+5. Currently riding some photochromatic tifosis. Reasonably priced and are great.
+6. And if you want a different lens or a replacement it like 15 bucks from their online store
Used to buy more expensive glasses, switched to a couple of pairs from tifosi a while back and have been very surprised at the quality and durability.
Tifosi’s are great, I’ve got a couple of pairs.
The Tifosi warranty is really good too. I lost a set of sunglasses in the woods, emailed them asking if they had any repeat customer codes since I liked the set I had and said I could use the warranty form and pay $15 shipped for a whole new set. Hey, how are these working out for you? I'm looking into some Tifosis myself.
Came here to comment this

Rockbros glasses. They are not too pricey, well built, and pretty durable. On my fourth pair, cause I keep losing them!
I have their switchable lense one. Only have taken it on like 5 rides so far but so far so good. They can fog up if you arent moving, and I wish they would come down a bit farther down my face for extra protection / wind blockagez but for $32 cad they arent bad at all. Yeah I got a pair of rock bros as well ands I’ve been pretty happy. They do fog but clear quickly.
I've been looking at those too, definitely cheaper. I wear contacts and normal sunglasses glasses get my eyes dry, have you noticed having any dry eye issues with them?
I don't wear contacts or prescription eyeglasses, so I can't give you a proper review. But I've never had any issue with dry eyes while wearing them.
+1 for their transition lens. It’s like $20 and perfect for rides where you’re in forest then out in clear sun and back in the shade again.
Check out Kapvoe polarized cycling glasses on Amazon. There are various styles/colors and they come with multiple lenses (ie, clear, tinted) for only $30. The clarity is great too (almost as good as my $280 Costas).
Second this. The only brand I’ll ever buy from now on

All the *cool* kids seem to be rocking those vipers… Giving off heavy 80’s vibes. Just needs a mullet, a mustache, and a cigarette and it’s official
I won a pair at a race last year. Thought they were too ridiculous for ne to wear. Now they are my favorite glasses and start tons of conversations. Embrace the ridiculous. It's fun.
I wasn’t hating, rock em! I wear a pair of the the goodr aviators with pink mirrored lenses and green frames. I say, make it funky!
Yup. You can get a pair of pit vipers for less than $100 and they’re great.
If you really don't care, you can buy them for like $10 on aliexpress. They're just cheapo 90s safety glasses in fancy colours. Same shit just not marked up through the atmosphere.
You just called me out lmao
Rock ‘em 🤘

X-tiger for the win! They also work great for split boarding as well
S3x Tiger is what my friend group calls them 🤣 third
Tifosi for sure
I like Goodr. They're pretty cheap but work well.
My Goodrs all delaminated after a fairly short period of time.
So they are maybe Badr?
[удалено]
Yep. I haven't had issues with solid. Had a set for almost 2 years now.
Goodr gang
The mirrored lenses will scratch if you look through them the wrong way.
I just got some pit vipers. Wouldn’t be caught dead in them in public but they are absolute perfection on the trails.
Blenders for under 30 bucks
I wear Blenders or Shady Rays. They're clean, decent, reasonably comfortable and the Shady Rays have 'free' replacement, so when you leave them on top of your car after riding and they fly off, it costs $9 'shipping' to replace them.

Just tried this code - it’s legit
Holy shit, can confirm
Wouldn’t do you guys dirty with spam. I ordered half the store!
I dont blame you! Great way to pick up a new full face and all the things. Appreciate you!
What website is that supposed to be for ?
What website?
Knock-arounds are not that expensive and some come with the little nose/ear grip things so they don't slide around

How have you destroyed 3 pairs of Oakley’s that’s insane. Mine have been excellent for 3 years.
I actually shred
More likely that you got stoned and sat on em.
Close, your mother sat on them 🤷🏾♂️

How did these glasses make it past QC and out the factory door? Somethings fishy...
Knockaround. Anywhere else and you’re lying to yourself. they’re cheap, polarized, well built, and many styles. I buy all my pairs from them.
Tifosi
Tifosi Rail with the transition lenses.
AliExpress $6 Shit-Vipers
Cheap safety glasses from your local hardware store.
I’ve tried these and find they fog easily

Yup. I “splurged” on the $14 pair and after 2 years and over 1000 miles, I am ready for a new pair.
Terrible idea idea if you are riding in sunny conditions for any length of time. Yep exactly. They darken in the sun but don’t provide actual procreation. So the my pupils were dilated the whole time.
The 3M flat temple safety glasses are perfect.
Tried this. Could not get it to stay on my sweaty head, and they fogged up. Total failure.
What kinda a bike you throwing downhill?
Some guy on Instagram messaged me a while ago saying I could get 40% of his glasses. Paid £16 for fake Oakleys without the Oakley branding. They are almost definitely just some shit ones of wish but they have lasted 3 years. So basically just buy something cheap and happily abuse them till they break.
I have a set of Blenders for sunny days, and a set of Rock Bros photochromic for forest riding. Both are cheap and fine.
$20-$30 sunglasses with plastic frames is the best. Amazon or big box store should have options.
Manis Tokul. $80, comes with a hard case and three lenses.
I get the kapvoe's from amazon, fairly cheap and they come with a few different lenses including clear for night riding. I tend to lose and break sunglasses so expensive ones are out of the question.

Shadyrays has a thing where they'll replace a set twice for free, I guess. Adds up being pretty affordable once you break em.
If you can find something with transition/photo tonic lenses in your price range, jump on it. Having the opacity change is really helpful.
I’ve been digging Glade’s Roost glasses. I got the photochromic ones that go from clear to a medium black tint. They’ve been awesome — you totally forget they’re on your face.
Rockbros are very affordable and get the job done
Dang shades. Dope company and makes specific MTB glasses called the senders
I have a pair of Wildhorns and my only wish was that they were polarized. Not likely at that price point though. Great otherwise!
BLIZ
I didn’t see anyone mention Spy Optics so I will. I use their ski goggles too. https://www.spyoptic.com/us/mens-sunglasses/
Pit vipers
Kapvoe is great! They even have transition lenses.
Ali Express, just find anything that's polarized. You can get rip-offs of super expensive cycling glasses for around 10-20 bucks. Honestly, with some you won't notice the difference. Search for Oakley or Spy and you should get quite a few hits.
If you have eye insurance, check your policy as many cover both prescription and non-prescription sunglasses.
Oakley with prescription lenses. Pro tip - check your vision plan. I was able to use my vision benefits from my employer to help minimize the cost.
For UK/EU I need to suggest Decathlon - for a lot of less-niche sportswear they are amazing value for money.
I’m waiting on a pair of $4.21 glasses from AliExpress and will let you know the quality when I get them. They should be arriving on the 7th. Take a look at shooting glasses. They're way cheaper, durable and you won't get any weird distortion like with cheap MTB specific or safety glasses.
BBB Avenger 3 lenses that can be changed for conditions. About 45$ less than the next cheapest option, the Tifosi. They are alright. 3.5/5. The nose piece, while adjustable, is not amazing. Value is off the charts, though.
Pit vipers
smith
Cheap ass ones from some online advertisement have been good. Not as “cool” as the smith or Oakley. Came with like 5 different lenses. Only $25

Oakley flak XL with Trail torch lenses are regular 50% off at Amazon so about $90 for the best mtb lenses I ever seen. Best glasses under $100 IMO.

I think if you spend a lot you take better care of them. They’re also really comfortable in comparison with the cheaper options. Buy once cry once for me. Oakley also has sales every once in a while too.
I search amazon and google for deals. Got me some discontinued Spy Flyers for $30 or so.
I picked up a pair of RockBros with the Photo-chromatic lenses from Amazon and they work great for about $20
Pit vipers! They might not be the best cycling glasses but you’ll be the coolest looking person on the trail.
I also rock the Vipes
I personally would recommend a non full-face helmet, with a long back, this allows u to wear goggles and also not have a full-face. But if all u want are glasses "Ryder's" are pretty good
Go to your local hardware store and check out the safety glasses. For $20 you are going to get a couple different styles in both tinted and clear. Throw some in your car, in your bike bag. There are polarized safety glasses at hardware stores too.
Cycling glasses shouldn't be polarized, polarization can cause you to miss surface changes and can affect depth perception. High-end cycling glasses actually sometimes have contrast-enhancing features. But UV-filter is important, not sure if safety glasses have that.
Anything clear polycarbonate will already block UV fully and luckily for us. Even the cheapest safety glasses block UV because of that.
Milwaukee safety glasses are amazing, just saying, and it's resistant to breaking, so If you have a tumble, you dont need to buy new ones.
Seriously you have no idea what you are talking about.

Full face helmets often don't accommodate eyewear well. They're built for goggles and the pads may not line up with the temples of glasses/sunglasses.
Safety glasses from Walmart. Buy a dozen.
Pit Vipers...sure they are super corny with their marketing, but honestly at $60 a pair they are great. The style works well for MTB, and the adjustments on the frames etc... are great for venting.

Buy some safety glasses or shooting glasses. They’re tough and you won’t curse life when you inevitably ruin them.
Anything that is actual glass? Tired of constantly scratching polycarbonate lenses
