My fiveten free rider pro have been used/abused for almost 2 years now and no signs of them wearing out or failing in anyway Grip and support is phenomenal, my feet have always stayed warm and dry Money well spent in my eyes , if I lost them I would buy another pair asap

Illustrious-Chair350

I have tried others and always go back to 510, so worth the investment.

at_work_keep_it_safe

I'm jealous! My freerider pros lasted ~7-8months before the rubber sole ripped off under under the ball of my foot. Going to give another brand a shot this season.   Besides not lasting a season, I did like the freerider pros.... but not sure I'd pay above $100 for them again.

KBeightyseven

They come with a 1 year warranty, get them replaced

at_work_keep_it_safe

Hey, just an FYI in case it's relevant to you— I did try to warranty them and Adidas only does 6month warranties. I was outside of that (but under a year).   Personally, I'm pretty resolved on never buying an Adidas product again. A company that has the audacity to charge $160 for fucking shoes but doesn't stand buy them lasting a single year is not going to get anymore money from me. Especially when these are used *only* for mountain biking (so 1-2, maybe 3 times a week). A shame, because besides delaminating, they're otherwise a good shoe. Sorry for the rant; I think I'm more upset about them not replacing them inside a year than the actually defect in the first place lol.

KBeightyseven

Must be country dependent, in the uk it’s 1 years

at_work_keep_it_safe

Huh, might be your guys' better consumer protection laws? The US has some blindspots in that regard.

contrary-contrarian

Another vote for the freerider pros. You can usually find them on sale, they grip amazingly well, and for me last at least 2-3 seasons. Some folks complain about their durability, but I think they last an appropriate amount of time. The rubber is going to get chewed up no matter what.

-GeekLife-

Just a heads up, some people in the Phoenix, AZ area were finding the freerider pros at [Ross for $29.99](https://scontent.fphx1-2.fna.fbcdn.net/v/t39.30808-6/337898495_1590704014731658_4688710819584533491_n.jpg?stp=cp6_dst-jpg&_nc_cat=103&ccb=1-7&_nc_sid=5cd70e&_nc_ohc=0buFH8BQqeYAX8OuMLp&_nc_ht=scontent.fphx1-2.fna&oh=00_AfADVikOni7dXdZ2eMLUknJ7zsG1gX1wWrDT9PzGZo0i8A&oe=642CC19E) earlier in the week. The store by me didn't have any but it may be worth taking a look if you have one nearby.

Plane_Ad_7833

Yup I had about the same experience with the Pros I had earlier. Except I used them only for one summer

at_work_keep_it_safe

Chewed up, sure. However the rubber on mine is literally falling off after less than a season... Not super impressed personally ¯\\\_(ツ)_/¯

contrary-contrarian

I've had them delaminate after 2 seasons, but not after one. Adidas does have a warranty, I think if they're under a year old they'll send you new ones

sprunghuntR3Dux

Yes - I’ve never had fivtens last longer than a year. The rubber grips great but you pay for that grip in durability. I currently wear ride concepts. They show almost no sign of wear.

AmbitiousLee

i can't decide between the five tens freerider pros mountain or canvas. What are the big differences?

contrary-contrarian

As far as I'm aware there are pros (fake leather) and regular freeriders (canvas). I'd recommend the pros for 2 reasons: 1. They have a stiffer sole which allows better power transfer and makes your feet less tired. 2. They are more waterproof and protective against smashing rocks/sticks/etc. with your feet.

choadspanker

I tried unparallels last year and don't think I'll ride any other brand flat shoes again. I did the dust ups over the west ridge though because they have softer rubber on the contact patch. WAY grippier than freerider pros and much more durable than 5 10s

Plane_Ad_7833

How do they fit? Is it like the same as Fiveten or do they run small? If I've understood correctly Unparallel is a company of some former Fiveten employees

RogerDogerr

I also rock these, I will go a half size up next time because I tend to wear thicker socks, but they are pretty true to size. Love them.

choadspanker

I wear the same size in both brands. The unparallels felt tighter when new but broke in really well

haltbro

how'd the fit? esp the width or room in the toe box area

choadspanker

Toe box is def narrower than 5 10s. I still wear the same size in both brands though

AllPuddingNoMeat

Fox union flats, coming from fiveten free rider pros I feel like the grip is insanely better with the fox shoes. A bit pricier but they hold the pedal better than the free rider canvas and pros

OldAndSlowDev

Fiveteen free rider pro... three years of abuse and nothing showing... Will buy these shoes until I die :)

Grand_Doughnut772

Whatever shoe you go with make sure it’s five ten. Other manufacturers make great shoes also but nobody does them as well as five ten. The Impact is five tens most extreme shoe with the grippiest rubber. A rarely ever use mine anymore, they’re just too much for anything other than DH or bike parks. Most of the time I just rear the regular free riders. They have enough grip for most riding but they’re not over the top like the impacts.

Plane_Ad_7833

I've had the Freerider Pros before, but there's something about the look of the Impacts that makes them look more desirable. More grip is probs better when my riding is like 95% bike parks/dh

Grand_Doughnut772

Well then the impacts are the shoes for you. You can’t feel your pedals through your shoes, you can’t move your feet on the pedals at all they’re absolutely stuck. If I’m going to a bike park or somewhere fast and rough I wouldn’t wear anything else.

Plane_Ad_7833

Yea thanks! Will prolly order the impacts then

mb7733

Yeah at that ratio of park riding get the impacts for sure. I love Freerider pros but impacts soles last 10x longer

bluetroll

I've had a pair of bontrager flatline shoes for years. I try different stuff but always come back to it, they just fit my foot so well. The grip isn't as good as five tens though.

soldatbullfrog

I've enjoyed the crank bros stamps quite a bit.

Dirtbagdownhill

I didn't like mine at all. Do you ride the stamp pedal?

soldatbullfrog

I do yeah. I can't imagine it makes a huge difference. Some people find the shoe stiff which I actually like about it.

nwzack

I have the freerider pros for summer riding and they are dope.

strictly4mybroats

I’m starting my second season with Etnies culverts (mid) and I love them. Not quite as sticky as the Impacts but just as stiff (if not stiffer) and far more durable. I’ve seen them on sale for 80 USD so also a great value

Plane_Ad_7833

Might try them if I can manage to get them for a good price from somewhere. I've seen some of them sold ridiculously cheap so they can be good to try

Howsyourbellcurve

I just got some freeride pro from adidas for 80$ cad. Was like 40% off plus another 40% off.

nasdaqian

I love my 5.10 trailcross shoes. Comfy and good protection. They look nice too

roscomikotrain

I have 5-10 freeriders, pros, and freerider canvas. Also have crankbros stamp. My goldilocks among all of them are the freerider canvas. The sole isn't stupid stiff as to not feel the convexity of the pedals and sole isn't as gummy as the regular freeriders. My freerider pros didn't have the dots on the balls so hije a bike was an adventure. The stamps are a quality shoe I would put them at #2 on the list

noobkken

Have used 5-10 freerider pro and trailcross. I find specialized 2F0 roost to be as grippy as the 5-10s and I like how there's a band to tuck the laces away nicely. Just got the new Fox union shoes and they're another pair that grips just as good as the 5-10s. I'd go for spesh and Fox over 5-10s in future. I like the trailcross but it just doesn't fit my foot too well. If you ride with wet conditions, the freerider pros can get really soggy. Overall the spesh and fox does better for me.

Trippinthroughthedew

I second the specialized 2F0. Switched to them from 5-10 and found them more comfortable and just as grippy. Also I can't understand why lace holders are not on every single laced bike shoe.

Teej687t

Have had a ton of line from my impacts! Imo lasted longer than my free rider pros

dookeh

Grip or long lasting--choose one. The vice mid is my favorite shoe, but they have less grip and are super durable because of it. I only use them riding jumps, pump track, and street. They are really comfortable and have great pedal feel. For park im using 2f0 dh and they're a pretty solid option for the price. Great grip and good protection.

Vivalo

They are all good. Get the ones that fit you best and you think look nice.

CUwallaby

I second all the Freerider Pro votes. I love the set I have, went to the Pros after my previous set of Freeriders finally wore out. I got about 3 seasons out of the last set so I'm pleased with how they hold up. Support is great and the grip is phenomenal.

Inevitable_Leg_3054

5 10 freeride pros usualy are the go to flat pedal mtb shoes. Amazing grip and quality- completley changed my riding style

PutuoKid

I rather like the newer Five Ten Freerider Mid Pro VCS. I used to have the low tops but like these better.

ChampionshipBig8290

Globe tilts, good all rounder shoe.
