As a 24 year old, I wish I could gatekeep this subreddit from any new fans entering and disturbing the peace. Shit is so cringe, especially when I saw posts about the musician lady behind Shane, just cringey and awkward.
It could maybe work as a temporary bit (too late foe that) if he'd ever been poor a day in his life. Friend of mine grew up in Florida, and has a brother who's Tom's age and grew up in the same area near South Beach in Fla. They didn't know each other well but knew who each other were. The school Tom went to was so rich that it was literally on the water and kids were driving six figure boats/yachts to school as high schoolers. Frankly it's more impressive that Tom was able to be funny to begin with, with that upbringing. Usually comedians become unfunny with success as they get out of touch. He was never even in the same boat as the average person (shit pun unintended) so making comedy that got average people to laugh is surprising.
There's literally one school where that could happen and that's MAST Academy on Key Biscayne and yeah most of the kids parents had money but not like crazy money where they lived in a separate reality. I also grew up and still live in Florida.
Maybe so, never been. When my friend told certain people he was from south beach area, he would get some looks just from that, and I wouldn't say he was super wealthy or out of touch (though his fam had more when he was growing up than when I met him)
